Hearts and All Things Love-ly! February 5, 2016 06:30
Hi there Just Nick fans and fellow digital cut file fiends! Suzanna here today to continue with the love theme and share a LOVE-ly Valentine's themed layout with you.
We don't really "do" Valentine's day in our household. But we did participate in the Cupid Ball as part of our Cotillion experience last year. The 6th graders all got decked out and the gals had red roses which their Daddy's had given them. It was quite the to do. And, as all scrappers do, there was quite the to do over pictures of the event. Unfortunately, the natural lighting was atrocious so I had to use my flash. I just didn't have a fast enough lens, even with the ISO cranked up, to capture all that movement. To soften the effect, I turned the pictures black and white and they look much better. Especially with the colors in the patterned papers being as they are.
These heart cut files (Patterned Hearts, to be released soon) from Just Nick are sublime!! I love that you not only can back them with another patterned paper or leave as is but the negatives that you remove, you can use as confetti either on the same page or on another page.
I also used the Cupid's Arrow cut file to create one of the two words for the title of this page. I love the depth that having an underlay layer gives words and opted for that option here. While the color of both the underlay and the patterned heart are the same, you still get the sense of an additional layer.
This patterned heart is one of the four that come together as part of the file. I decided to back it with a solid black cardstock in order to for the hearts to stand out against the busy patterned paper.
