This Makes Me Happy April 21, 2016 07:00
Melissa here with a page that has one of the most adorable photos ever. My friend, Kirsten, lets me scrap all her adorable family photos and share them on the interwebs. What a privilege it is to have these awesome photos and I love sending the finished pages to her. Thankfully, we have similar styles so, I get to scrap them any way I want. :)
Anyway, let's move on to chatting about the cut files I used and how this baby came together!
Look at that squishy baby face!!!
Okay, focus on the cut files Melissa.
I absolutely LOVE Nicole's modern style cut files and this Graphic Background immediately caught my attention. I knew I wanted to do something with it straight away, on a page. I chose to use a subtle yellow paper and gradually utilize color to bring the focus on that adorable photo. Seriously. Adorable. I want to kiss that smooshy face, too.
With this page, I committed to placing the background down right away. I usually don't do that as I like to test out layering and such first. But this one, I knew it was what I wanted so, I did it and there was no turning back!
When I layer, I like to alternate calm/muted and bold colors. That way, I can create some dimension, my title work will stand out more and the focus lands on the photo.
I incorporated a frame, from the Card Sentiments 3, file as part of the title. I trimmed a part of the word away from the frame so I could tuck the photo under it a little bit. It's those little details that can really compliment the page. Also, I've had that metal clip in my stash forEVER. Finally got to use it and stitch it down to anchor the frame.
Then, the rest of the page just came together. A little cluster here and a little cluster there. I always like to leave a little bit of room for my friend to journal on her pages as she sees fit. I think there is the perfect little space under the blue frame to add a little note about her cutie, squishy, adorable family.
Here are a few more close ups before I leave you today.
Love the cut files I used today! Go grab them in the shop!
Have a creative day!
