Word week cards July 21, 2015 07:00
Good morning Just Nick friends and fans. I'm here on day two of our week long word week feature to share some cards I've designed with word files as the focal point. At first glance you might only consider Nicole's word designs simply for use as titles on a scrapbook page. I was excited to find that many of the designs are versatile enough for cards too.
I used the 'hello' sentiment from the Word Brushstrokes file to create a simple and eyecatching focal point for my card. Not only does the cut file serve as my greeting, but also creates added interest to the design since I've turned it into a shaker box. To create the shaker was simple. I sized and cut the brushstroke design to fit my card, cut it out of pink cardstock, backed it with a transparency and created a reservoir out of foam adhesive to hold the sequins. Using the cut file in this way is unexpected and makes for a fun and trendy overall design.
The Scripty Phrases file is one of my very favorites from the Just Nick store. I knew it would pair just perfectly with this love themed paper from Chickaniddy Crafts.
Since I chose to cut the 'love you' sentiment from a busy patterned paper and back it atop another busy design, I knew I'd need to do something extra to make it stand out. I cut the design a second time out of white cardstock and adhered it slightly offset of my original diecut, to create a bit of a shadow.
Some foam adhesive and a framing of enamel dots were the perfect finishing touches to make the scripty sentiment the focal point of this card design!
Thanks for joining me on the blog today. I hope you'll stop back by the rest of the week, to see all the inspiring designs the design team has to share featuring words files from the store.
