Summer Sunburst String Art August 04, 2015 00:00
Summer is wrapping up and that means we have lots of summer pictures to scrap right now! Christine joining you today and I had a cute picture of my little blondie (my other kiddos are all brunettes) that I wanted to get documented. So I dove in with some JustNick files and did a one picture layout with some major technique involved: string art and stitching!
JustNick released this Starburst Background this week and I knew I wanted to use it with a sunshine theme. But the more I looked at it, it was screaming for stitching and some string art.
I started with the string art. I punched holes in the two rays that lined up with others. I then used those as my base for string art. I went from one ray and skipped over one. I then did the same thing but skipped two. I did that in between each set of starbursts. I then punched holes at the tip of each ray and stitched the outline of those and made a few additional connections. It was not complicated at all. But it was time consuming. This is the perfect project to do in front of the tv or when you are a passenger on a long road trip.
I did back each startburst with a yellow or orange patterned paper to play up that sunshine theme and also added coordinating buttons to the ones that showed. The Summer Words file provided the perfect title and my picture needed just a little bit more so I added some extra paper and stickers. It didn't need a lot because the background provides that fun eye candy already!
Thanks for joining us today! Make sure to check back the rest of the week for more summer projects!
