Clean & Simple Cards | Jaclyn Rench March 6, 2018 07:00
Hi Just Nick friends! Jaclyn here to share a couple of clean and simple cards I've made with some new Just Nick designs.
Whenever I get a new crop of cut designs, I like to size down the files and cut them out of white cardstock, as a 'test cut'. This gives me a better feel for the intricacies of the design and the success I may or may not have, cutting it from different mediums.
These 'test cuts' typically get filed into a bin in my craft space and are often the first thing I reach for when making a new card. I used the 'test cuts' from the Honeycomb Floral Background and the Patterned Hearts designs for the two cards I'm sharing today.
When I think of honeycombs I think of bees, so I though it would be fun to pair the Honeycomb Floral Background with some sweet, stamped and colored bumblebee images.
The cut design is mounted with foam adhesive atop of the 3.75" square white card base.
Using the foam adhesive creates lots of shadowing and dimension to this tone on tone background. The bumblebees appear to 'fly' about the backdrop and are grounded by the card greeting near the bottom left. The florals inside each honeycomb really make this design special!
This next card features a sprinkling of Patterned Hearts. I've backed each of the heart designs with a different pattern. I attached the hearts to the card base, both directly and with foam adhesive, to allow them to appear that they are falling down from the top of the design. Doing so creates movement throughout the card and ultimately directs your eye to the sentiment.
I've tucked sparkling clear sequins around and peeking out from some of the hearts to add a little extra sparkle and fun!
