Hello Everyone! My post today uses the same cut files I used for my project earlier this month. You can find that post here. I had created several Fall Apple Cider Treats to give out to friends. For those cards, I used the Fall Foliage Background with pink and grey paint to stencil onto woodgrain cards. I rarely like to throw out anything, and loved all that wonderful paint on my Fall Foliage cut file.
I backed some of the leaves with black or a sage green cardstock. I wanted to also copy the same colors I used for my Fall Treats. Instead of using the entire cut file in my Traveler's Notebook, I trimmed it and adhered it to the right.
I printed my photos small, and then foam adhered one of the photos over the other to create a pretty layered look over the leaves. Then added die cuts and a wood veneer to finish that side. I also used the black clothespin and twine from my original treats.
For the left side, I used that same 'fall' image from the I Like Fall cut file.
But then backed it with the painted, stenciled woodgrain card. Love the look of the paint on the woodgrain peeking through.
I used a 3x4 trimmed down card to add my journaling and then finished this side with date stamping and an acrylic word that tied in with my cut file and also had a similar script font.
A few things I loved about using the same cut files I had used from the treats are:
- it gave me my color scheme, which I would not have thought of for Fall.
- I had a unique look to the Fall Foliage background from using it with paint.
- no creative block or overthinking since I already had the inspiration from the original project.
Hope this reminds you to not throw out the leftover cut files, but instead use that color or inspiration to create another project with them! Happy creating!
