Happy Days | Majken Pullin - Welding Letters Tutorial & Process Video July 22, 2019 07:00
Hello cut file fans! Majken here with you today, and I hope you are having a great July. Thanks for joining us here on the JustNick blog. My project today actually has four different cut files on it - but I didn't really plan it out that way...it just happened! My title uses two alpha cut files that I welded for a fun look - I have a quick tutorial below. And I have a video as well towards the bottom of this post, so have a look! Here's my layout:
If you aren't familiar with welding, here's a quick tutorial.
First, make sure each letter is its own compound path (select the letter, right click, and choose "make compound path"). Next, layer each letter where you want it to be.
Choose all the letters, right click, and then choose "Weld"
Here's what the cut file will look like once the letters are connected by welding:
I love the color palette in this My Mind's Eye "Happy Days" collection! And I liked the title of it so much, I borrowed it for my title. :) I used Outline Alpha for "HAPPY" and Script Alpha 2 for "days". I sewed along the letters in "HAPPY" and used 3d foam squares to pop up "days" for some dimension.
The Borders 1 cut file has a really cute scallop border. I cut out a full 12" strip and cut it to use along the photo and on the top right. You can see it below.
I also popped up the new Leafy Floral cut file - it's so lovely!
Here's a short process video, too!
And here's a look at the cut files I used on today's layout:
Thank you so much for hopping over to view our blog post - I hope I've inspired you to grab some alpha cut files to create your own title! There are so many options to choose from in the JustNick store.
Have a super week.
