Hello JustNick Friends! I have a post to share today to show you how to combine two stencils, using pattern paper, and embellishments in your traveler's notebook. The first stencil I am using is the Grid Stencil.
And then I will layer the Floral Cluster 2 over it.
The stenciling is concentrated on the right side onto white textured cardstock. The left side is one sold piece of pattern paper with very two colors and a basic small pattern. To make the contrast of the pattern paper side and stenciled side work, I concentrated the Grid Stencil in the center of the textured cardstock using black ink and a makeup blending brush.
I kept it just enough to not be in the forefront of the design. I love this basic technique because it gives an airbrushed effect. Next, I used the swirl flowers from the Floral Cluster 2 with colored pencils! The pencils give me more precision, and I want that textured look from the textured cardstock. I tried this on plain, and it isn't the same. The textured cardstock with the stenciling with pencils really makes this.
I moved the flowers and leaves around where I wanted them. Once my background was complete, I took inspiration from a collage you would see at Starbucks, and used my die cuts and letters in different directions across my page, with my photo in the middle.
Keeping the yellow pattern paper side simple, I just added a strip of pattern paper along the spine of my notebook for added color and to create a triangle with the oranges from the right side, added some stickers, stamping and journaling to finish.
So many ways to use cut files as stencils. This is a wonderful subtle but also colorful way to add texture and pattern to your background while still using your stash of pattern paper and alphabet stickers! Happy creating!!
