Rainbow Baby | Majken Pullin April 23, 2020 07:00

Hello crafty friends!  Majken here with you today, and I hope you and your loved ones are doing well.  I'm sharing some rainbow inspiration today using Chasing Rainbows and the Sketch Block Alpha.  I decided my rainbow was going to follow the color pattern you see in a secondary rainbow where the colors are reversed from the standard ROYGBIV you see in a primary rainbow.  I used Pink Paislee's Bloom Street by Paige Evans (with some help on orange from Horizon).

Rainbow Baby

I cut out "rainbows" and the rainbow outline from the Chasing Rainbow and "BABY" from the Sketch Block Alpha cut files first using white textured cardstock.  I decided on the papers for the inside of the rainbow bands and cut each out using my Cameo.  (To do this, release the compound path of the rainbow, remove the outside edges, and create an offset for each band to make them slightly larger to glue behind the rainbow outline.  You could also cut each without offsetting to fit them inside the rainbow like a puzzle if you prefer.)

A second look at a different angle.  You can see I scattered some matching enamel dots inside the rainbow bands for some additional texture.  I popped up some ephemera flowers using 3D foam adhesive to add even more dimension!

For the title, I left "BABY" unbacked because I wanted the pretty watercolor background to peek through.  I trimmed some 3D foam adhesive to pop it up too. I snipped the "s" off the end of "rainbows" to modify the word for how I used it.

I layered my photo with different papers and added journaling and other ephemera to finish my layout.

I hope you are inspired to create your own rainbow!  Here are the cut files I used on today's layout.
