Springy Cards April 19, 2017 09:37

Hey friends!

Melissa here with you today and I am so happy to have the opportunity to share with you a couple of cards. They ooze Spring with some fun, bright colors and, as I sit here typing this, I really need to stare at them longer because it is a dark, drizzly day in the pacific northwest.

Alright, let's not waste any time! Here is card number one

Gah, I just love Nicole's background cut files! I really do find joy in figuring out how to adapt those files to the smaller scale of cards. Sometimes it's super easy and other times, like this one, it gets a little tricky.

I used the Protozoa Background for this card. It already had a thin and lacy feel to it and when I shrunk it down for my card, it was soooooo fragile! But, taking my time to take it off the cut mat was so worth it because I love the fun and playful rhythm it bring to this happy card. Here is a little close up...

Just a little tip... this cut file did not cut out clean. If you look reeeeeally closely, you'll see some little tears and pieces. Sometimes you just have to let it go and embrace the imperfections. :)

Alright, here is the second card..

For this fun card, I used lots of washi tape and another fun background cut file. It was really simple... almost too simple... to put this card together. I grabbed some washi and just laid it on, row and after row. Once the card base was filled, I topped it with this cut file. I did resize the cut file a bit. It originally is circles and I warped it a bit to make ovals.

This card only needed a few embellishments so as not to overwhelm the washi background.

Here is a little close-up

Thank you for joining me today!
