Sunshine on my Mind | Majken Pullin - combining cut files August 17, 2019 07:00 1 Comment
Hello crafty friends! Majken here with you today, and I think my layout today is the tail end of our Summer/Travel theme projects. I combined two JustNick cut files to create a fun summery layout.
I started with the Sunshade Background and scaled it to 11"x11". Next I opened Sunshine On My Mind and copied the "Sunshine" over to my cut file. I sized the word to fit within the frame and then welded it so the "S" and "E" would be attached to it. Here's what it looked like in Silhouette Studio:
I used the Simple Stories Sunshine & Blue Skies to create my project. Isn't the ombre rainbow background paper just beautiful?
I originally was stuck trying to figure out if I should back the letters in "Sunshine" or let the paper show through. Ultimately, I was inspired by my friend Heather to follow the ombre/rainbow colors of the background and back them with matching papers.
To do that, I released the compound path of the letters, then removed the inside part of each letter. And then I spaced them out on my mat so I could cut them all at once on different patterned papers. Here is what that looks like in Silhouette Studio:
I was inspired by the "Sunshine on my Mind" title, so I used some alpha stickers to create the "on my mind".
I also sewed around the frame, and I sprinkled some matching stickers and ephemera along the "Sunshine". I put several matching enamel dots between the sunrays and "sunshine" to match the ombre colors.
Other than my photo area, I left the sunshine rays to stand on their own.
I hope this has inspired you to mix and match your cut files to create unique ones for your projects!
Here are the JustNick Studio cut files I used today:
Thanks so much for joining us today!

This is awesome! So creative how you melded the cut files and let the ombre effect play out in the title. Fun summer layout!
