Happy Summer - Cat Martin April 21, 2017 06:00

Hello hello hello!  It's Cat here back with another layout!  I am so happy and excited with how this layout turned out so I hope you like it too!.  I used the Radiate Cut File and cut it out from a polka dot patterned paper.  I then backed it with several different types of paper, including papers that originally came from some old K & Company Smash Books that I never even came close to completing!  I kept the embellishments and the background paper simple to really show off the photo and the cut file.  My picture perfectly fit in the circle in the centre.  The Radiate Cut File is perfect for emphasizing one picture and pretty much would fit any theme! I know for many of us who scrapbook the men and boys in our lives we have a difficult time but that's what I love about having the opportunity to create for JustNick, so I can showcase different ways to use her files and hopefully help those who are not sure exactly how to scrap for our boys! I will also have a process video up on my YouTube channel if you want to see how I put it all together, including all of my struggles!

Hey Gorgeous | Marcia Dehn-Nix April 06, 2017 07:00

Hello JustNick Studio friends! Marcia here today. I have a sweet layout to share using one of the newest cut files in the store. When I saw the gorgeous new Butterfly Background 2 digital cut file I could not wait to use it. I love the delicate butterflies. This cut file is perfect for Spring photos, but I thought it would also be lovely with a photo of my adventurous daughter.

Here is a better look at those amazing butterflies...

To form my title, I combine the Hey speech bubble from the Girl Power digital cut file with a rubber charm with the word Gorgeous. This was cut pretty small. If you are having difficulties cutting items with your electronic machine try cutting it twice. I find I can get a better cut with a so so blade if I cut it twice.

Here are the cut files I used ...

If you are interested in watching my YouTube process video here you go ...

Thanks so much for stopping by today! Check out all the new cut files in the JustNick Store.

Art is a Treasure April 04, 2017 08:26

Hey hey everybody, it's Cathy!!!  I'm back with another layout to help get your mojo going using Nicole's amazing cutfiles!  So this time around I wanted to do something a little bit more subdued and soft, while still being masculine.  I also wanted to cut my file using patterned paper since I've been doing a lot of cut files with white cardstock.  I cut out the Scribble Circles background file on a sweet mint and white striped patterned paper.  I then backed some of the circles with patterned paper and some I left open.  I used some ephemera from Pretty Little Studio too, which matched perfectly with the colours I was working with!  I love adding vintage touches to a more modern and minimal design.  I really kept the patterns to a minimum and left lots of white space!  Thank you so much for stopping by and have an awesome day!

Little Magic March 22, 2017 07:00

Hello hello hello it's Cathy here and I'm back with another layout!  I don't know about you but even though it's still bitterly cold and gloomy in my region of the world I can't help but long for the beautiful colours of spring!  For my layout today I was inspired by all the fun and colourful scraps that I have in my stash.  Some are relatively new and some are from years ago, but either way I loved combining them together to make this fun image!  I used the Rosette Background 2, and originally I was using it as intended, as flowers, but once I was all done backing it I really loved how much it looked like wonky bubbles, so I decided to document my daughter's bubble blowing adventure last spring.  Backing the cut file with multiple papers was a wee bit time consuming, but I just love the end result!  Thanks so much for stopping by and if you go to my Youtube channel you can check out how I made my layout!

Hey everybody it's Cathy here, back with another layout for JustNick Studio and Scrapbook Circle!  The Scrapbook Circle kit for March was loaded with bright colours and funky designs.  I really wanted to showcase all of those fun papers and colours so I chose the dreamcatcher background 1.  There were lots of awesome spaces to back with papers!  I used a small star stamp to create a fun pattern around where my cut file would rest and then popped my file up on some foam for added dimension.  Since all the  products worked so perfectly together embellishing was a piece of cake!  A big thank you to Nicole and Scrapbook Circle for this awesome team up!

Right Here Right Now March 08, 2017 07:00 1 Comment

Hello JustNick Studio friends! Lee-Anne here today to share a layout I created with the fabulous March Scrapbook Circle kit and JustNick Studio digital cut files. All this week you can see inspiring projects from both design teams.

The kit I received had so many wonderful papers and embellishments from Shimelle's Little By Little, Paige Evans Oh My Heart, Amy Tangerine's On A Whim, Fancy Pants Design's Joy Parade and Pretty Little Studio's Summer Vibes Collections.

Here is the layout...

I knew I wanted to use the Aztec Lace Background because I loved the funky vibe of this background cut file and I thought it would pair perfectly with the bright, colorful striped paper from Shimelle's Little By Little Collection.  I cut it out on my Silhouette Cameo and backed it with a piece of white textured cardstock.

For the title, I cut the Right Here Right Now Cut File on my Cameo and then I cut it with some scissors to separate the title.

The fun part was embellishing the layout.  I tried to use as many elements from the kit as I could so I added some stickers, stamps, mini alpha stickers and the fabulous puffy stickers and dots to accent the background.  Finally I added my personal handwriting around the edge of the white cardstock background.

It was a lot of fun to create this layout.

Here are the cut files I used for this project...

Thanks so much for stopping by! Be sure to check back tomorrow for more inspiration using the March Scrapbook Circle kit.

Twins Game - Scrapbook Circle Day 2 March 07, 2017 07:00 1 Comment

Hello JustNick Studio friends! Marcia here today to share a layout I created with the fabulous March Scrapbook Circle kit and JustNick Studio digital cut files. All this week you can see inspiring projects from both design teams.

I think I squealed with delight when I opened up my box and saw products from the Shimelle's Little By Little collection, Amy Tangerine's On a Whim, and Paige Evan's Oh My Heart. I was dying to use the new Star Background 4 cut file. I thought it would be perfect for a sports layout and I have been wanting to scrap this picture of my daughter at a Minnesota Twins baseball game. Here is how my layout turned out ...

I cut the file knowing I wanted to put a 1/2" border around the edge using this colorful striped paper. Using the red from this same sheet of striped paper, I backed some of those star cutouts.

I even did some hand stitching with some red thread! Under my title I did a little journaling. I don't usually do handwriting on my layouts, but this kit came with a Pink Paislee stamp set so I could stamp the guidelines for my writing! I might be doing more handwriting on my layouts now. I used a lighter ink to stamp with so the emphasis would be on my journaling.

I think this is a new favorite cut file!

Here is the cut file I used today ...

If you are interested in seeing my process video, here it is...

Thanks so much for stopping by! Be sure to check back every day this week for more inspiration using the March Scrapbook Circle kit.

Selfie Love February 25, 2017 07:00

Hello JustNick Studio friends!

Marcia here today with a fun layout using 3 different cut files from the store. When my daughter was a teenager, she had no selfie control, lol. I decided to create a layout of some (yes just some) of the selfies she took in just one night while at a football game with friends. I combined 2 different cut files to create my title "Selfie Love". Then I decided it would be fun to add a camera too. Here is how my layout turned out...

My title is a combination of the Capture This cut file and the Lots Of Love cut file.

I cut the camera out of black cardstock and backed it with a bright yellow to coordinate with the emojis. It's from the Summer Cards cut file.

Here are the digital cut files I used today...

Thanks so much for stopping by today! Be sure to check out what's new in the JustNick Studio store.

All You Need Is a Free Love Cut File! February 18, 2017 08:00

Hey everyone, it's Cathy here and I'm showing you all my layout using the fantastic Free Love cut file that is available for free until February 19th!  Just use the code FREELOVE when you're at the checkout!  For my take I decided to get in on the bling and I backed my letters with sequins and some large glitter and an iron-on sequin edging.  I always love finding ways to incorporate unusual items and textures into my layouts and this method gave me a fantastic focal piece!  I didn't really need to do much else since I already had so much going on but I did like putting everything on the diagonal.  Just to make it a little more interesting.  I added some punched out hearts for dimension and used some chipboard from Crate Paper Heart Day.  Thanks so much for stopping by and don't forget to get this cut file while you still can!

XOXO and Adore February 09, 2017 07:00

Hello JustNick Studio friends!

Marcia here today. Have you ever created a layout using a digital cut file and looked at the pieces remaining on your cutting mat and say to yourself, "That is too pretty to throw away!". I did that this past week with the Blocked Hearts Background cut file. I just couldn't throw away the scraps, so I decided to make another layout, very similar to the first.

This cut file is unique in that it has this big X that dissects the cut file. I wanted to play up that X by placing pattern paper behind only a portion of the cut file so that the heart pattern really popped and yet still maintain some white space. The subtle white on white heart pattern is beautiful, but the pink paper behind the heart cut outs takes your breath away. Here is my first layout using the positive pieces of the cut file...

My second layout is very similar, but uses the negative pieces of the same cut file. It's a bit more gluing, but well worth it. Here is a tip; It helps to leave the negative pieces on your cutting mat so you know where each piece goes...

My parents are adorable! 55 years of marriage and still going strong. On both layouts, I used washi tape to emphasize the X in the cut file. It is the perfect width for washi tape!!

I also used the Love Actually digital cut file for the "Love" and "XOXO" text

Here are a few more detailed shots...

These are the cut files I used today ...

So, next time you use a cut file, take another look at the pieces remaining on your cutting mat. Just maybe, they will convince you too that they are worthy of being scrapped and not end up in your waste basket.

Thanks so much for stopping by today. If you are interested in the YouTube video of the XOXO layout here is a link...

All of Me Loves All of You February 03, 2017 06:00

Hey everyone!  Cathy here with a fun lovey dovey layout for you all.  I absolutely love the All of Me cut file and I knew immediately that I wanted to see it in black with gold ink splatters on it, so with that for the basis of my layout I set out to find a picture of my husband and I!  I ended up printing one that wasn't the best quality, but that I loved anyway, so I just kept it black and white and made it a very small photo, that way the title could really take centre stage.  I love the idea of adding other textures on my layouts so I used some beautiful striped ribbon to compliment my page.  I fussy cut out a cute little bird from the Maggie Holmes Gather collection.  I loved how well those Pinkfresh Studio hearts from the Indigo Hills collection matched with all my colours so I added lots of those too!  I absolutely love how well a tiny photo tucks in around my big title, it brings a feeling of cohesion and unity to all the elements going on in my layout.  Thank you so much for stopping by and don't forget to check out my process video on my YouTube channel to see how this layout came together and to see what happens when you have a terrible accident while scrapping!

Follow Your Heart it Knows the Way January 27, 2017 07:00

Hey everyone, it's Cathy here and I'm back with another layout!  This time I'm using the fantastic Going My Way background cut file.  I mean, who doesn't love arrows!  I love how these arrows are all intersecting, it's such a funky looking cut file!  I cut it out of white cardstock and put it over a woodgrain background.  I just love the look of a white cut file over top of woodgrain paper :)  I can't get enough of it, and these arrows fit perfectly with my theme!  I also used lots of the older Crate Paper Journey collection as well to really accent my theme!  Thank you so much for stopping by and don't forget to pop over to my YouTube channel to see how I made this layout!

Christmas Kitty January 23, 2017 07:00

Hello Just Nick fans! It's Lee-Anne here today on the blog and I wanted to share a layout of my kitty Sheldon relaxing under the Christmas tree.  This is his safe place when he wants to get away from my puppy Syd because I have a gate so that the puppy can't go in the living room.

I chose the Nordic 3 Background and cut it out on a 12 X 12 piece of white card stock and then cut away the middle section.  On the blue plaid paper, I added a large photo and added the white card stock on top and machine stitched around the edge of the layout.

For the title, I cut out the Lower Outline Alphas on some green plaid paper and outlined them with a black felt tip pen to make them stand out more.

Finally I embellished with some flair buttons, some ephemera pieces, some felt bows and enamel dots and voila!

I absolutely love the texture that the Nordic 3 Background gives the layout.

Thanks for stopping by! Be sure to check out the Just Nick shop for these and many more fabulous cut files.

Snow Wonderful | NordicBackground January 19, 2017 06:00

Hi everyone.  Heather Leopard is here doing what I love most...playing with background cut files! This one in particular is the Nordic Background.

Snow Wonderful Nordic Background Scrapbooking layout by @heatherleopard

I altered this cut file just a tad, removing the x's that are part of the cut file so that I could hand stitch them instead.  Then I enlarged it to cover the entire page, removing the lower portion since that was going to be covered by patterned paper.

Snow Wonderful Nordic Background Scrapbooking layout by @heatherleopard

Next, I separated the cut file and traced the outline of one of the snowflakes and offset it just slightly, making it a tad bit larger than the background cut.  I cut the outlined snowflake out of different patterned papers and adhered them here and there to the back of the large cut file.

That's just my way of using cut files (like Nordic Background) to make unique layouts.

Winter Wonderland January 18, 2017 07:00

Hello JustNick Studio friends!

Marcia here today with another winter layout. This time I used with the amazing Nordic Background 2 digital cut file. I just love the warm, comfy feel of that Nordic pattern with my winter photos. It's very... hygge (Yes, I learned a new word!)  In Danish, hygge (pronounced “HUE-gah”) means creating a warm atmosphere and enjoying the good things in life with good people. Take a look at my layout and you will see what I mean ...

I wanted this layout to coordinate with another layout I did at the end of December using the Nordic Background cut file, but yet I wanted it to be slightly different. The Nordic pattern of this cut file is divided into 2 triangles. I decided to arrange these at the top and bottom of my layout and create some white space on the right side. Using pennant flags reinforced the triangle pattern.  Here are some close-ups...

I love adding some machine stitching over this Nordic pattern for texture.

Here is the background cut file I used.

Thanks so much for stopping by today. Stay warm and cozy!

Happy Aussie Day 2016 | Tarrah McLean January 17, 2017 07:00

Hi there Just Nick friends!

It's Tarrah McLean back with you and today I am sharing a new layout featuring one of my favourite background cut files found under 'Our Cut Files'!  It's Australia Day here in Oz next week so I decided to document one of last year's photos from that day of my youngest holding our flag before we hung it on our balcony.

The Bits and Pieces star background was a perfect background cut file to use as a base for this layout. I tried to slightly replicate our flag in the papers I backed the cut file with and I am happy with how it turned out.

I used lots of different Thickers that I have had in my stash forever to make up my title! I also used other bits and pieces from my stash to embellish my layout as well. I love to use up stuff I have been hoarding forever...it feels great to finally find a home for it!

Those chipboard stars are from Pink Paislee and the flair and washi tape are from a small embellishment store in Australia. I included some hidden journalling on my layout this time, its on the tag tucked into that little bag.

Thank you so much for stopping by the Just Nick blog today! Do you have a celebration coming up that you want to document? I am sure there would be an awesome cut file or 2 in the Just Nick store that would suit your theme perfectly! Check them out, they are gorgeous!

Happy creating!

Tarrah x

Love This Baby - Cathy Martin January 11, 2017 07:00

Hey hey!  I may be wrong, but I am pretty sure this is my first layout of 2017 for JustNick Studio!  I'm so happy to still be getting to create layouts using her amazing cut files.   Now, I will be honest, when it comes to creating a layout, my hardest part is choosing a cutfile to start with.  I know I will sound like a fan girl, but seriously, I really do love so many of her files that narrowing it down to which one is a tough one for me.  I decided in the end that I hadn't scrapped much about my youngest yet, and I wanted to create a cute baby page with some interesting icons.  I found her Up in the Air cut file and I just love hot air balloons!  I am definitely not a literal scrapper, so I really don't mind using icons or images in layouts that are not about that subject.  I mean, when am I ever going to have hot air balloon pictures!  I decided to first back my balloons with vellum, and then patterned paper.  I placed them on a cute piece of paper covered with little clouds just to keep with that sky and air theme and then I got to work embellishing!  I just love how sweet this layout turned out!  Thanks so much for stopping by and don't forget to check out my process video to see the layout come together!

Captured | Word Cut Files | Michelle Whorwood January 07, 2017 07:00

Hi everyone,

Michelle here with a new layout to share with you.  This week some of the design team have all been sharing layouts featuring 'words'.  For my layout I decided I wanted to combine several word cut files and create a wall paper effect down the right handside of my page. I did this by setting out the cut files I wanted to use on my Silhouette template as this gave me the perfect spacing for my page.

I really like using lots of words on my layout to convey the theme or feeling I have about my photo.  I first used the Marquee Alpha cut file to create the 'HELLO' and then combined it with the Girl Power cut file.   I really liked the mix of fonts and flowers on this set  so I ungrouped the file and rearranged it on my page.  I then cut it out on wood grain patterned paper and added it to my page in the negative spaces I added some embellishments to my page. I then added my photo to the left of the word wallpaper and added some more embellishments as well.

Some close ups

Thanks for visiting the Just Nick blog today!  I hope you have enjoyed my layout showcasing some of the word cut files in the shop - we are super lucky to have so many amazing word cut files to choose from here.

Let the Sparks Fly January 03, 2017 07:00

Hello JustNick Studio friends!

Marcia here today. This week designers were challenged to concentrating on those word cut files. I thought it would be fun to scrap some New Year's Eve photos and use the New Year Words cut file. When combined with the Confetti Background cut file, you have a recipe for a fabulous New Year's Eve party layout!!

Here is a close up of that awesome Confetti Background cut file.

I love the ready made titles in the New Year Words cut file. "Let The Sparks Fly" was perfect for this photo.

Here are the cut files I use today ...

Thanks so much for stopping by.

Colored Leaves - Thankful November 24, 2016 07:00

Hey everyone, it's Cathy, and I'm back with another layout for you!  For this week our theme was "Thankful"  Now I live in Canada, so we had our Thanksgiving in October, but being thankful doesn't have a time frame, and even the simplest thing can make us feel thankful.  Now that autumn is ending and winter is fast approaching I wanted to take a moment and express how thankful I am for little things, like the beautiful changing leaves of autumn.  This time of year is my favorite but far.  I absolutely love the colours of fall and I love all the celebrations that go on during that time.  I also love gearing up for the holiday season too as I watch the nights get shorter.

So for my layout I used a phrase from the cut file Fall Y'all.  I really love all the phrases from this cut file and will definitely be using the others for different layouts, but for this one I chose the "colored leaves" phrase.  I enlarged it and cut it from white cardstock.  I really wanted a simplistic look to this layout, with the focus being on the photo and the title.  I am so happy with the minimal look that I ended up with, and as a bonus, this layout took almost no time to make, so I got to be thankful for that as well!

Grateful November 22, 2016 07:00

Hello JustNick Studio friends!

This week, with Thanksgiving looming for us in the States, we are focusing on things to be thankful for. Of course I am grateful for my parents who just celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary! Whenever I asked them for help in the past, they were there for me; babysitting, dog sitting, you name it. But this past summer, those tables were turned. My Dad needed emergency surgery and for weeks following could not do his own yard work. He needed help! Thankfully it was only a couple weeks and my siblings and I are close enough that we could all help. So this November, I am extremely grateful that my Mom and Dad are still around for me to enjoy.

I used the Infinity Hearts digital cut file to frame the photo of my parents. Then I added the heart border from the Hearts digital cut file on the right side under the so very blessed project life card. My title "Grateful" came from the new Many Thanks digital cut file.

Here are the digital cut files I used today:

Thanks so much for stopping by today! For those in the States, Happy Thanksgiving!!

Thankful for her... November 21, 2016 06:00

I'm kicking off a week of being THANKFUL here on the Just Nick Studio blog as we ramp up for Thanksgiving here in the U.S.  I have a lot to be thankful for, most of all my family and my health so I thought I'd create a layout about one particular little girl of mine who embraces all that life throws at her with such positive attitude.

I mixed in some of the new Plaid Circle Background with other circles and flowers to create this layout.

I sized it down to 1 3/4"x1 3/4" circles so they would fit inside the  2"x2" circles that I had cut from pattern paper. I then stitched them to the background paper.

I scattered 3 - 4 around the page, some by themselves and others as clusters with other circles and flowers.  Then I added lots of layers of pattern paper, chiboard, fussy cut flowers and buttons. And last but not least, a title and journaling about why I am thankful for her!

It's Fall, Y'all Scrapbooking Layout November 03, 2016 06:30

Hi friends, Heather Leopard is here and I'm super sizing it today but in a really simple way, with a photo, a die cut and just a couple of embellishments.

Happy Fall Y'all Scrapbooking Layout by Heather Leopard

I want this page to be a dominant page of my album for the year it was taken so I printed it 12" x 12".  I have to admit that the photo is a bit dull for my liking but it works for what I am trying to accomplish.  A main photo for a series of photos we took on this particular day.

Fall happens for about 1 week here in Texas so when we found this park with all these leaves, we had a hay day. We piled them up, we threw them at each other like it was a competition.  Okay, it was a competition.  But once we got the leaf jumping, playfulness out of our systems we sat down for a few photos in the middle of all the leaves.

If you look closely at the two images above you can see little details, like gold rub-on leaves and thin cut wood veneer.  And let's just say, we Texans consider it fall y'all as soon as it cools down to the high 80's / low 90's.

She's A Hoot! October 29, 2016 07:00

Hey everybody, it's Cathy and I'm back with another layout!  This time I'm focusing on Halloween, and I don't know about any of you, but sometimes traditional Halloween icons and colours don't really match what I'm doing.  For my daughter's second Halloween she was a cute pink owl.  When it came time to scrap the picture I knew I wanted to go in a different direction, but that doesn't mean I can't use an awesome cut file to emphasize my theme!  I picked the lovely feather background and cut it from white cardstock.  I backed my cutfile with some Pink Paislee Fancy Free paper and then backed the entire thing on some polka dot paper.  Since I had such a busy background I decided to keep my layering and embellishing to a minimum.  I used a white doily behind the pictures to add a little bit of visual interest and I splatters some bright pink colour shine to top it off!  I love the simple sweetness of this layout, the femininity and softness of it compliments the photos perfectly, and the feather background creates such an interesting look.  So remember, when you're scrapping your Halloween photos don't just stop at the Halloween cutfiles, there are lots that you can easily work into whatever theme you are going with!

Autumn Splender October 21, 2016 07:00

Hello JustNick Studio friends!

Marcia here today. All week we have been showcasing our awesome JustNick Studio digital cut files with the beautiful Simple Stories Hello Fall collection. My layout uses two of the new cut files for autumn; Fall Y'all, and Leaf Cluster. I love how well these two cut files coordinate with eachother. I cut both of them from a Simple Stories dark woodgrain paper, then I filled the negative space behind the leaves with  different pattern papers from the Hello Fall collection. With the gorgeous leaf cluster, my layout doesn't need a lot of other embellishments

Here are some close-up detail pictures. I just love how adorable this fox is. He is a chipboard sticker from the Hello Fall collection.

Here are the cut files I used today ...

Thanks so much for stopping by! Have a great weekend.

Autumn Blessings October 19, 2016 07:00

Hello everyone.  I'm happy to be a part of the JustNick + Simple Stories team up this week.

I created a layout of die cuts really.  It's a combo of different leaves I cut with my cameo and flowers that I fussy cut. Although I spent a bit of time cutting those flowers, it came together fast and easy.

The cut files I used are Leaves and Leaves 2. I love the variety these files offer and the leaves are just plain fun.

Since the flowers were so colorful, I decided to cut the leaves out of white cardstock and leave them plain. I did this so that the leaves and flowers would compliment each other instead of compete against each other.

I hope you are enjoying this week's team up.  Make sure to visit the Simple Stories blog for even more inspiration.

Autumn Blessing - Simple Stories Team Up October 17, 2016 07:00

Hi everyone it's Cathy!  I'm back with another layout for JustNick Studio.  This time we are teaming up with Simple Stories to create some fun layouts.  I received the gorgeous Hello Fall collection from Simple Stories.  Now while this is a fall collection I was trying to figure out a way to use it that wouldn't be a conventional fall layout.  I decided to use the lovely baby blue and floral paper from the collection for my jumping off point and that made me think about my youngest son, who was born last fall.  I thought this would be a perfect subject to merge with fall inspired papers and embellishments.  I cut out several of the leaf cluster file in white white cardstock and used a few of the other papers to back some of the leaves.  I backed my photos with a few other of the papers and then stuck it all down.  I loved all the project life cards that came with the collection so I decided to fussy cut out some of the images and sayings to add to my layout!  I love how this turned out, and that I was able to use the collection for a slightly different subject!

Love you | Pretty Little Studio Team Up October 11, 2016 07:00

Hi cut files fans -

Laureen here with you today for something VERY fun!
The Just Nick team is having a fun team- up with the amazing team from Pretty Little Studios!

I decided to splurge on the gorgeous HANDDRAWN collection "Here comes the Sun" by my sweet friend Marie ;)

As soon as I got my hands on the collection and ripped open the die- cuts I asked Nicole for a Hot Air Balloon cut file and she came up with the gorgeous Up in the Air file that I defintely had to use for my page!

Now I ordered enough product to create at least 15 more layouts, so you better prepare yourself for sunshiney layouts in the winter ;)

I used one of the ballons, enlarged it and placed Patterned Paper behind it and popped it all up on some foam squares. My background is blended with Distress Inks and them I just added some die- cuts here and there and this page came together super quick!

Here are some close- ups for you.

That's it for todays post - I'll be back at the end of the month with a few projects off the page ;) See you then and have a great week full of amazing inspiration!

Laureen

Remember Together | Pretty Little Studio October 08, 2016 07:00

Hi everyone, Michelle here with a new layout featuring the gorgeous products from Pretty Little Studio in combination with the amazing Just Nick cut files of course!

My layout features lots of the 'Here Comes The Sun' collection as I just loved the whimsical nature of the die cuts and the pretty patterned papers.  The papers on my layout all came from the  Up in the Air  6"x6" paper pack which was just perfect to add behind the cut files on my layout.  I was inspired to use a piece of soft yellow cardstock and I cut out the Heart Explosion Background and added a piece of the Colorful Dots patterned paper behind the large heart.  I then added lots of layers of the different die cuts and labels around my photos from the collection.  To give my layout a bit more interest I added some scallops from the Simple Scallop Strips cut file that I cut out in white cardstock in layers under my photo and also added a strip at the bottom of my layout that I filled with more of the patterned papers.

Thanks for stopping by the blog today and I hope you are enjoying our collaboration with Pretty Little Studio.

Away We Go October 07, 2016 07:00

Hi everyone.  Heather Leopard is here today with another collab with Pretty Little Studio.  I absolutely adore the Here Comes the Sun collection so I couldn't wait to play with it and the JustNick Studio Up in the Air cut file.

To create this layout, I supersized one of the hot air balloons. It's much taller than the 12" height so I cut it at a diagonal to keep it as one piece.

I kept the pieces that were cut and used them as guides to cut the pattern paper.  Then I glued it to the back of the large hot air balloon.

Once each section was filled in, I adhered it to a 2nd piece of cardstock, added the photo, embellishments and title.  Now I just have to journal and how it to my girls for their stamp of approval.

Happy Together Scrapbook Layout by Heather Leopard September 28, 2016 07:00

Hello everyone.  Heather Leopard is here today with a layout using the new Graphic Chevron Background 2.  I love a great background cut file and this one did not disappoint.

I modified this file just slightly by removing 5 of the graphic chevrons - 2 were completely removed and 3 were replaced with a cut out for the photos.

I added pattern paper to the back side of the cardstock in a very random order, filling some diamond chevron shapes completely while leaving so many others blank. I added my photos as well before adhering it all to a 2nd white cardstock background. I added my title and just a few embellishments to complete the layout.

Girl of Autumn - Stuck?! Sketches Team Up September 24, 2016 07:00

Hello hello hello everyone!  It's Cathy and I'm back with another layout to share with you!  This time I'm getting ready for my favourite season, and what better way to get in the mood for Fall than to scrap about it!  I used 2 cut files from Just Nick this time.  I used her Floral Wreaths cut file as well as her new Leaves 2 cut file!  I just love the look of the stark white leaves and wreath against the wood grain of the back ground paper.  The leaves would look amazing backed with beautiful patterned paper as well but for this layout I love them on their own.  I tend to be a scrapper who only scraps one or two photos per layout so I altered the sketch a bit to suit the picture that I wanted to use.  I also changed the title position, since I decided to go with such large chipboard letters!  Thank you so much for stopping by and don't forget to pop over to the Stuck?!Sketches blog, because if you play along with the sketch you have a change to win a prize from Just Nick!

P.S. Don't forget to take a look and be sure to take a peek at my process video for this layout!

Make A Splash | Stuck Sketches | Michelle Whorwood September 21, 2016 07:00 2 Comments

Hi Everyone, Michelle here with a layout to share as part of the Stuck Sketches collaboration.  I really couldn't wait to do a multi-photo layout of our recent holiday to Fiji  and the sketch Laura designed was a perfect one for it !!

I couldn't resist adding my photos on the angle and the rest of my layout flowed from there.  I had been eyeing up the fabulous Summer Fun and Summer Lovin' cut files and enjoyed using the icons from the Summer Fun set as embellishments on my page - there are lots of elements that are perfect for beachy photos in this set.  I then created my title   'Make A Splash' from the Summer Lovin' cut file set.   Don't be afraid to split up the cut files to make them work on your layouts as I have done on my title here to frame my bottom photo.

Thanks so much for stopping by the Just Nick blog today!  I hope you play along with this sketch as there is an opportunity to win a $25 store voucher to the cut file store!!

Hello Sweet Girl September 08, 2016 07:00

Hello, my friends.  Heather Leopard is back again today to show you how I used 3 fabulous cut files for today's layout.

I have this photo of my precious littlest girl playing dress up with a bouquet of flowers, mostly white dress and a veil so I was quite inspired to keep a lot of white for this particular layout.

I used white cardstock to cut a white wreath of flowers using the Floral Wreath cut file and a white doily, from the Nana's Doily Background cut file.

I added a pop of color with the embellishments around the wreath. I used a mix of cut file alphas and an embellishment to create my title, cutting the word "sweet" out white cardstock, using the Simple Set Alphabet cut file.

Summer Fun September 06, 2016 07:00 1 Comment

Hello JustNick friends!

Marcia here today. Nicole challenged us this week to use at least 3 cut files on our layouts this week. An easy task ... because all the cut files are so amazing. I had some camping photos from this summer to scrap so here is what I came up with. I used 4 cut files. Two of which are new; the Rustic Leaf Frame and the Vine Background. These were perfect for camping photos.

Here is a closer look at the Rustic Leaf Frame. This is one of my favorite new cut files released. I sized the frame so a 5x5 photo would fit perfectly ...

I trimmed the Vine Background down so that I only used a small part of it along the side of my layout and stitched over the top to add some texture.

I combined the Summer Words and the WORD 2 digital cut files to create my title...

Here are the cut files I used today ...

Thanks for stopping by today. Check out all the awesome new cut files in the store.

XOXO by Tarrah McLean September 02, 2016 07:00

Hi there Just Nick fans!

It's Tarrah back with you and today I am sharing a new scrapbook layout using one of my most favourite cut files in the Just Nick store - the XOXO background cut file!

Here is the cut file I used.....the XOXO background

I adapted this cut file a little in Silhouette Studio by taking out the 'O' inserts so that I wouldn't have to put all those pieces back in once it was cut out! I like the result without those pieces included!

I used the beautiful Cocoa Vanilla Studio 'Love Always' collection with this cut file....I knew the two together would look pretty.

Thanks so much for joining me on the Just Nick blog today!

Happy cutting and creating!

Tarrah x

Let's Go Play - JustNick & Jillibean Soup Team Up! August 26, 2016 07:00 5 Comments

Hey everyone it's Cathy here and I'm back with another layout, this time using the amazing JustNick Studio cut files and products from Jillibean Soup

I love this team up and had so much fun creating a cute layout using the Jillibean Soup Mushroom Medley collection and the Scallop cut file!  The Mushroom Medley collection has so many cute and fun elements, it's perfect for outdoor layouts, seasonal layouts, or any type of layout actually!  I loved the masculine colours in the collection and I decided I back one of Nicole's cut files with as many patterned papers as I could!

I used a fun picture of my youngest as I found it really matched well with the collection.  I scoured over all the cut files in the shop and I eventually decided I wanted to do a scallop background.  I know many would consider scallops to be a bit girly but I loved how they added a feeling of motion to the layout, and since that was what I was trying to get across they went perfectly!  I also have a process video so don't forget to check that out to see how I made my layout!

Oh and be sure to leave a comment on this post for a chance to win!  Feel free to leave comments on the Jillibean Soup blog as well!

Funhouse Selfies August 22, 2016 07:00 15 Comments

Hello JustNick Studio friends!

Marcia here today. All week the JustNick design team is partnering with the awesome Jillibean Soup.

I was so excited to receive the Healthy Hello Soup collection to play with. Since it's almost State Fair time here in Minnesota, I was inspired to scrap a couple really funny selfies of my daughter and her friends as they were looking at themselves in funhouse mirrors. I wanted a background cut file that would reinforce the funhouse theme and found the Sunburst Circle Background. It was perfect!! Here is my layout...

I backed some of the sunbursts with reflective silver foil. I love how this reminds me of those funhouse mirrors. I embellished with the Healthy Hello Soup stickers, acrylic shapes, and cardstock die cuts.

For the 'Selfies' portion of my title I used the Lower Case Alpha cut file.

Here are the digital cut files I used...

Thanks for stopping by today!

We will be giving away a $25 gift certificate to our store at the end of the week - leave a comment her or over on the Jillibean Soup blog to enter!

Be sure to stop in all week for more inspiration with Jillibean Soup.

Live Wild, Flower Child Scrapbooking Layout August 16, 2016 07:00

Hi everyone, Heather Leopard is here with and I have been having so much fun playing with the new Compressed Chevron Background file.

What I love about this file is that you can use it to cut a really fun chevron design from your background paper and then back it with whatever you want - another sheet of cardstock, a pattern paper, whatever you please.

That said, I ungrouped the file and cut individual chevron strips from pattern papers, spaced them out in groups of three and then stitched them to white cardstock.

A little twist to the original cut file and now it resembles a bit more of my style.  Don't be afraid to play around with the files. The possibilities are endless.

Fabulous & Lovely Scrapbooking Layout August 05, 2016 07:00

Heather Leopard here today to show you how I use JustNick Studio background cut files to create eye catching layouts.

Backgrounds are some of my most favorite things to design with. You can use them over and over again with vastly different looks depending on what you use to back them. Sometimes I like to cut it out of white cardstock and layer white on white, other times, I cut it out of white cardstock and lay it over pattern paper but mostly I do what I did today - white background cut over white cardstock filled with various patterns that coordinate. The possibilities really are endless and the results look completely different each time.

I used the Spirograph Background 1 cut file for this layout. I liked that it resembled flowers. My process included cutting the background file out of white cardstock. Then I released the compound path / ungrouped everything and cut the inside petals and leaves out of pattern paper. This made it super easy to get the perfect cut. I glued them in place and then stitched circles over the center of the spirograph flowers.

Thanks for stopping by today.

To The Moon July 12, 2016 07:00 2 Comments

I am so thrilled to be here as a part of the Just Nick design team. If there is one thing I love most about crafting, it is the ability to use cut files on my layouts. For my All About me Layout, I decided to use the To The Moon cut file. My children are my absolute world, my reason for breathing each day. After 6 long years of trying my husband and I were blessed with our miracle child., Harmony. So I decided to use this cut file to express my love for her.

I look forward to sharing my work with you throughout my time here at Just Nick and hope I can inspire you to create beautiful memories :)

But First Coffee! July 11, 2016 07:00

Hello JustNick friends!

Marcia here today. I am absolutely thrilled to be returning to the JustNick design team! I LOVE working with Nicole's cut files. My All About Me layout today features the Patterned Clouds cut file. They reminded me of gloomy Eeyore ... notice my Eeyore coffee cup. It was a gift from my son. I am just like gloomy Eeyore in the morning. Yup, I am not a morning person ... at all! I would love to blame my thyroid condition, but let's face it ... I have never been a morning person. Mornings are just worse now since I need to be medicated and caffeinated in order to wake up!

The alpha I used for coffee will be coming to the JustNick store soon... I jumped the gun and used it a little early.  Let's look at those clouds a little closer ...

Since my morning routine involves feeding 5 cats, I thought the cat chipboard sticker was appropriate here. No, they are not all mine ... 2 are my daughter's (she is temporarily living back at home). But I guess 3 cats still makes me a crazy cat lady, lol. I just can't help myself though when a stray cat shows up.

Here is the digital cut file I used...

A Little More About Me: I have been married to the most wonderful guy for the past 33 years! We live in Minnesota (where winters are way too long and summers are way too short) and have three adult kids. I have been scrapbooking for over 15 years. Besides my love for all forms of paper crafting, I have a soft side when it comes to cute, furry animals. Currently in residence is the family dog Satchel, and 3 cats; Delta, Spook, and Xena (and temporarily my daughter's dog Princeton, and her 2 cats Turk and Tuna). I guess you could say I live in a zoo, lol.  I work a 9-5 job designing software for electrical utilities. Yup, I am a nerd.

You can find me here ...

Thanks for stopping by today! Check out all the fabulous designs in the JustNick Studios on-line store.

Me, Myself & I July 07, 2016 07:00

I am thrilled to be returning to the JustNick Studio design team.  I absolutely LOVE working with Nicole's cut files.  Thanks for having me back!

I love using quilt-inspired designs on my projects so my first instinct when I saw the new July files was to use the Quilted Background.

This layout you see here was not my original plan.  Let me walk you through the thought process of how one thing led to another...

I decided that I wanted to use the file to piece together a background, instead of cutting it out of one piece and using it as an overlay so I cut 4"x4" squares and placed them next to each other across and down the CAMEO mat.  I cut each piece out and as I was pulling it all off the mat, I was really digging the leftover 4"x4" pieces so, onto the paper they went. I kept the other pieces and I am sure you'll be seeing them on another layout VERY soon.

Next, I laid the squares down, overlapping each other and angled just a bit.  The rest was easy - I added some layers behind and above my photo, added embellishments and mist splatters and then added my title.

About me: I was born and raised in the Lone Star State and live in Cypress, Texas with my family – hubby, 2 daughters, 1 bonus son, and 2 rescue dogs. I lead marketing and thought leadership initiatives for a major tech company but my real passion is playing with paper, glue and scissors. I love to scrap the daily adventures of my family and I aim to capture the essence of whatever it is they are doing. It’s those little details that I love! My signature style includes lots of pattern mixing, matching, and layering in fun and interesting ways. I also design for Shimelle.com and Gossamer Blue.

Dandelion WISHES April 28, 2016 07:00

Happy Friday eve everyone.  Heather Leopard is here to put a little SPRING in your step...

Once I selected the photos I wanted, I designed the rest of the layout around the title. Usually my title is one of the last things I think about but for this, it was the first.

I created the word "dandelion" in Silhouette Studio using a free font I downloaded from the Internet called Modesty. For the larger WISHES word, I used the Shattered Alpha cut file and then backed it with coordinating papers.

With such a large, bold title, I decided to keep the rest of the layout a little more siple than I usually do, adding a few frames, rub-ons, chipboard and a little splatter mist.

Thanks for stopping by today.  How do you feel about bold title?

Today Love Blooms April 25, 2016 07:00

Hello JustNick friends!

Marcia here today. It's Spring and I have been out cleaning out my flower beds to prepare them for planting this year and my husband has already put my water fountain out. He gave me this fountain as an anniversary gift over 15 years ago. I could probably count the material gifts he has given me over the years on one hand, but when he does buy me something, he knows my heart. Keeping this fountain running is a labor of love for him, a gift he continues to give me each year.

That background paper is so beautiful, but I did not want my photos to get lost. Framing them with the Spiral Background cut twice from white cardstock really helps keep them from blending into the background. The spirals are so similar to some of my floral die cuts too.

Some black Stems really pop against all that vivid color.

I used two different cut files to create my title; "Today" from the Today Forever Always cut file, and the "Love" from the Word 3 cut file.

Here are all the cut files I used today.

Thanks for stopping by.

Lil Monster April 19, 2016 07:00

Hello Just Nick friends! It's Lee-Anne here on the blog today and I was totally inspired by the Happy Little Monsters and the Striped Alphabet cut files that I had to create this layout of this high energy little girl.  She is so funny.

I normally don't scrapbook with a black card stock background, but I wanted the Striped Alphabet, which are cut on my digital die cutting machine on white card stock, and the Happy Little Monsters cut files, which I cut on bright patterned papers, to really pop. The black card stock make it appear that it is the evening and to make the monsters appear a little more scary.

Striped Alphabet

I hope you enjoyed your visit and be sure to check out both these and many more cut files in the Just Nick shop.
