Hey everyone! I hope you all had a wonderful holiday celebration, and cheers to us fast approaching a new year! I don't know about you guys but I will definitely be glad to see 2016 go in some respects, but in others I was so happy for many of the experiences gained during the year. I am loving my time here on the JustNick design team and I adore her files, so I'm so glad to share another one with you all today! So even though Christmas is done, that just means for me that it's time to get scrapping all of those wonderful photos and memories while it's still wintery white outside. I absolutely adored the Holiday Tree cut file when she put it up in the shop and I knew I needed to use it asap so I decided not to wait until next Christmas and to use it for a holiday photo now! My original plan for this layout was to use a picture of my son and to use a gray/brown wood grain paper as my background, but after stumbling on this funky turquoise Websters Pages paper I changed up my game plan and used a picture of my daughter instead. I love the funky, eclectic look of the layout and all the bright fun pops of colour and bling throughout!

Hey everyone it's Cathy and I'm getting in on the freebie fun! For my layout today I'm using the free Pine Needle Bough cut file available in the shop! I then cut out my bough and sprayed it with black Heidi Swapp colour shine. I love how bold and fun it looks on my layout and the added pompoms just make it even that much more fun!

Colored Leaves - Thankful November 24, 2016 07:00
Hey everyone, it's Cathy, and I'm back with another layout for you! For this week our theme was "Thankful" Now I live in Canada, so we had our Thanksgiving in October, but being thankful doesn't have a time frame, and even the simplest thing can make us feel thankful. Now that autumn is ending and winter is fast approaching I wanted to take a moment and express how thankful I am for little things, like the beautiful changing leaves of autumn. This time of year is my favorite but far. I absolutely love the colours of fall and I love all the celebrations that go on during that time. I also love gearing up for the holiday season too as I watch the nights get shorter.
So for my layout I used a phrase from the cut file Fall Y'all. I really love all the phrases from this cut file and will definitely be using the others for different layouts, but for this one I chose the "colored leaves" phrase. I enlarged it and cut it from white cardstock. I really wanted a simplistic look to this layout, with the focus being on the photo and the title. I am so happy with the minimal look that I ended up with, and as a bonus, this layout took almost no time to make, so I got to be thankful for that as well!
She's A Hoot! October 29, 2016 07:00
Hey everybody, it's Cathy and I'm back with another layout! This time I'm focusing on Halloween, and I don't know about any of you, but sometimes traditional Halloween icons and colours don't really match what I'm doing. For my daughter's second Halloween she was a cute pink owl. When it came time to scrap the picture I knew I wanted to go in a different direction, but that doesn't mean I can't use an awesome cut file to emphasize my theme! I picked the lovely feather background and cut it from white cardstock. I backed my cutfile with some Pink Paislee Fancy Free paper and then backed the entire thing on some polka dot paper. Since I had such a busy background I decided to keep my layering and embellishing to a minimum. I used a white doily behind the pictures to add a little bit of visual interest and I splatters some bright pink colour shine to top it off! I love the simple sweetness of this layout, the femininity and softness of it compliments the photos perfectly, and the feather background creates such an interesting look. So remember, when you're scrapping your Halloween photos don't just stop at the Halloween cutfiles, there are lots that you can easily work into whatever theme you are going with!
Girl of Autumn - Stuck?! Sketches Team Up September 24, 2016 07:00
Hello hello hello everyone! It's Cathy and I'm back with another layout to share with you! This time I'm getting ready for my favourite season, and what better way to get in the mood for Fall than to scrap about it! I used 2 cut files from Just Nick this time. I used her Floral Wreaths cut file as well as her new Leaves 2 cut file! I just love the look of the stark white leaves and wreath against the wood grain of the back ground paper. The leaves would look amazing backed with beautiful patterned paper as well but for this layout I love them on their own. I tend to be a scrapper who only scraps one or two photos per layout so I altered the sketch a bit to suit the picture that I wanted to use. I also changed the title position, since I decided to go with such large chipboard letters! Thank you so much for stopping by and don't forget to pop over to the Stuck?!Sketches blog, because if you play along with the sketch you have a change to win a prize from Just Nick!
P.S. Don't forget to take a look and be sure to take a peek at my process video for this layout!
Enjoy the Little Things September 05, 2016 07:26
Hi everyone it's Cathy and I'm back with another layout! This time I'm clocking in with a whopping 3 cut files on one layout! I started by using the Funky Piechart cut file and the Live Simply cut file. I resized them so that I would have circles of various sizes to create a fun playful effect on my page. I backed my cut files with scraps that were just hanging around in my craft room, keeping in mind the colours in the photo. I decided to go with a white on white look so I used white cardstock for my background as well. With so many bold circles going on I didn't really need to do much embellishing so I only used a few chipboard stickers to create a little cluster. I also used a cut file for my title and decided to cut it in a bold red paper. When I cut a shape or image like the title, that has lots of thin parts I like to use either a solid paper or a very subtle, small pattern so that I don't lose the readability of my title. I propped my circles up on foam and then added some black mist and my layout was complete! Thanks so much for stopping by and taking a look!

Let's Go Play - JustNick & Jillibean Soup Team Up! August 26, 2016 07:00 5 Comments
Hey everyone it's Cathy here and I'm back with another layout, this time using the amazing JustNick Studio cut files and products from Jillibean Soup!
I love this team up and had so much fun creating a cute layout using the Jillibean Soup Mushroom Medley collection and the Scallop cut file! The Mushroom Medley collection has so many cute and fun elements, it's perfect for outdoor layouts, seasonal layouts, or any type of layout actually! I loved the masculine colours in the collection and I decided I back one of Nicole's cut files with as many patterned papers as I could!
I used a fun picture of my youngest as I found it really matched well with the collection. I scoured over all the cut files in the shop and I eventually decided I wanted to do a scallop background. I know many would consider scallops to be a bit girly but I loved how they added a feeling of motion to the layout, and since that was what I was trying to get across they went perfectly! I also have a process video so don't forget to check that out to see how I made my layout!
Oh and be sure to leave a comment on this post for a chance to win! Feel free to leave comments on the Jillibean Soup blog as well!
Let the adventure begin and My word for the year January 20, 2016 07:00
Do you make resolutions or choose a word for the year? What kind of goals do you make as a new year begins? Ever since I heard about choosing a word, as opposed to a full on list of resolutions, I've gone gung-ho on the idea. And, each year I create either a scrapbook page or some other type of decor piece that focuses on my word.
This year, my word is REJOICE. I'm even using the "nickname" of this word - joy. One of the ways I am remembering and exercising this word is by continuing to do what I love - and that includes scrapbooking!
Here is the page I created (and then we'll chat about the cut files used):
I love these kinds of pages because I literally just pull out all my favorite things. No worry about manufacturer and what is what. I also decided to go pretty simple with the cut files. How cool does that white on kraft look??? It really does pop and helps to complete my overall design.
I just love the font of the title - Let the Adventure Begin. Which is so fitting for a page like this!
I purposefully left the title partially coming off the page. This was part laziness and part purposeful. I'm not sure the technical artsy term for doing something like this but, I do like the look for whatever reason. :)
Here is another close up of the circle year. You'll notice I trimmed part of it off to fit up against the paper.
Do you love these cut files as much as I do? Head over to the Just Nick shop and grab your own! Here are the ones that I used:
memories. January 19, 2016 07:00
I have to admit I LOVE using more than one cut on my pages, I look for combinations that will give interest without distraction. I used 4 different cuts on this layout:
I found this fun picture of my brother and from back in July--I don't get very many pics with him so this was the perfect opportunity to scrap a fun memory. For the background I used the Starburst background and cut it in half. The other three cuts I used were:
If you look closely some of my cuts were cut with white cardstock, some with cream, and another I sprayed with mist. LOVE how it all came together!
