12 Days of Giveaways - DAY 7 | Monique Liedtke December 7, 2018 00:30 3 Comments
I decided to use one of the snowflakes as the background for my layout (the one at the bottom left side) and created this page using an older collection from Bella Blvd: "Christmas Cheer":
Here are a few close-ups of my page:
I cut the snowflake from the "Daily Details" sheet, a sheet full of different colored snowflakes and love how it turned out.
I love background cut files and often use a "normal sized" cut file and enlarge it so I can use it for my background, like I did here.
If you like the "snowflakes 5" cut file too, then be sure to hop over to the JustNick shop to grab this free cut file!!

Thankful for You Layout and card by Rachel Lowe: November 22, 2017 07:00 6 Comments
I love owls and this owl cut file is just so cute! I have used Bella BLVD Mind Your Manners collection to create my layout. I cut my owl with white card stock and then ungrouped the owl and used patterned paper to fill my owl. To finish it off I have machine sewn the wings.
I then chose the Card Sentiments 3 for my title and a card I knew I wanted to also make.
I decided to make a shaker pocket using vellum on the lower half of my layout. They are simple to make, cut your vellum paper the same size as your background paper, sew around the three edges leaving the top open. Add your sequins or similar (I have also add some small cork hearts) and then sew up the top.
I then added a bright coloured patterned paper piece to the top of my layout ensuring it covers the top of the vellum. I added a scallop border also between the pattern paper and vellum. I then attached my owl with foam tape. I then tucked my photo slightly under the owl. I have used the Thankful card sentiment enlarging.
I have added some typed journalling and finished my layout off adding a die cut owl and word sticker bottom right of the layout.
Now its time to shake!!!!!!!
I have used the exact same process to make my card just on a smaller scale. I have used the Grateful card sentiment and added inside my card. I used brighter coloured sequins on my card and added a die cut flower inside. My sequins are from Speigelmom Scraps and they are just gorgeous.
Thank you for stopping by today and have a wonderful scrappy week!
FALL | Nathalie DeSousa October 10, 2017 07:00
Happy Fall Y'all! and to all our Canadian friends, I hope you had a blessed Thanksgiving weekend.
Nathalie here today with a bit more Fall inspiration. What can I say, it is my most favorite season of the year, there is so much to love about it! This time i pour some of my joy for the season into this layout that documents my kids on last year's Thanksgiving walk.
Fall is all about color, and changes in nature, so what best that to recreate some of those fallen leaves using the Leaf Cluster cut file - one of my favorite cut files from the store -.
For this page, I used two cut outs created from the Leaf Cluster cut file in different sizes. First, I used some Prima Watercolor (Decadent Pies palette) to add quite a bit of color to the background. While it dried, I backed the cut out with papers from Bella Blvd. Gratitude Documented collection. Then just attached the cut outs to the page with some strong adhesive.
For the title of this page, I used the new "I Like Fall" cut file to cut just the word Fall from the design. An offset was all I used to create the stitching of the title. A bit of watercolor completes the look of the title, and makes it pop from the page.
Love how easily this page came together. The colors that back the cut outs bring out the details in the background and in the beautiful cut file design. So stop by the Just Nick store to check the designs used in this page, and all the new designs available. Remember i am just a comment away if you have questions on how this came together.
See you all around!!!
A Different kind of School Layout - Rachel Lowe August 26, 2017 07:00
Hello JustNick friends, today I have a school layout for you, well kind of!
I am not a fan of school photos I have to admit and with four children at different schools and therefore different coloured uniforms there is no way I am going to find a paper collection to deal with that dilemma lol!
Each year I go on the hunt for cool and unique school bag for my youngest (the older ones won't let me anymore) and so I decided to scrap this memory and the 2017 bag which I think is super cute!
I love geometric shapes and cut files on boy layouts and so this cut file was the perfect choice!
I have used a mixture of collections and gorgeous bits and pieces from my stash. I have gone for a minimalistic look to add to the dramatic effect of the cut file and the selected triangles I chose to back with patterned paper.
I have sewn randomly on the cut file to add definition. As you can see I chose well placed triangles to accomodate my photo placement and visual impact.
How cute is the bag! I love bears and I love this colour combination and hence why I kept it going through out my layout. I have journaled the little story behind this layout and added in a way I could embellish around so it became more of a feature than an after thought.
I have added wood veneer pieces in keeping with my theme, and oh how cute is the wooden bear! As always I have foam taped certain elements on page to add height and interest. I ted to always do this with paper stickers as I find them too flat for my liking.
I have finished this layout off with some enamel crosses, dots and puffy sticker arrow.
Here are some close up photos for you:
I enjoy being challenged with themed layouts and then thinking out side the square and adding a twist and that is what this layout is all about, a school layout with a twist!
Thank you so much for stopping by today and see you all soon!
High School Smile August 23, 2017 07:00
It is Nathalie back today with a new layout to share with you. Can you believe it is time to get the kids ready to go back to school -here in Canada-? With that in mind, i had to document the picture of my kids on their first day of high school (gr. 9 & 11 respectively).
The idea for this page was to recreate a large file, for that i trimmed the white cardstock to fit inside the layout, and used the File Folders cut file to create a large tab that hides under the layout's mat.
I glued the tab to the page's mat, followed by the trimmed cardstock. Then a bit of mixed media was used to create the background behind the picture and title (I wanted to be authentic to my kids's folders at the end of the year, so a bit of distress fits them to a tee!).
I am a sucker for large titles, so i created the one featured in this page by welding the letters from the Shattered Alpha cut file (spelling High School) with the "Smile" from the Word 4 cut file. Then used papers from Bella Blvd, to back the spaces, and attached it on top of the mixed media background using some foam tape.
Finally to complete the page, I added the b/w version of the picture to the side of the title. The Word Tab cut file was handy to create the small tab that was added to the cluster on the pictures. A few more small details complete the page.
I love the final look of the page! I hope this inspires you to document those 1st day of school smiles using some of the JustNick Studio cut files. As for me, I will be doing a small happy dance once they leave for school, followed by a few tears of sadness as they are leaving me!.
You can always contact me if you have any questions on how this page came together.
See you all soon!
Summer | Michelle Whorwood August 12, 2017 07:00
Hi everyone! Michelle here with a new summer filled layout to share with you today! I really love creating summer layouts especially down here in NZ when it is actually Winter it makes me feel a lot warmer and keeps me sane until summer arrives for us again. Here is my layout using the 'Summer' cut file to create my title!
As you can see below the 'Summer' cut file set includes five different cuts including gorgeous sun rays and lots of fun words along the summer theme! But for me I really wanted to go large with my title and I enlarged it to fit the full width of the 12x12 cutting mat and cut it out in a subtle patterned paper by Pink Fresh Studio. I then backed it on the soft buttery yellow cardstock as this colour just reminds me of sunny sunshine.
Once I had decided that my title would sit across the page in the lower two thirds of my page I created some interest with a mixed media background and then tucked my photo in and slightly over the two MMs of SUMMER. As the title is so large it doesn't matter that my photo slightly overlaps here as you can still make the the letters very easily. I then created lots of little embellishing around my photo and also on the bottom part of the R to give it some balance with my bottom cluster, my photo cluster and then this finishes the visual triangle.
Here are some close ups:
I hope you have enjoyed my 'summery' layout today!
Right Now Layout by Rachel Lowe: August 10, 2017 06:00
Hello JustNick Studio fans!
Today it is about circles and I have chosen this stunning circle background cut file to create my layout.
It must be the quilter in me but as soon as I saw 'Going in Circles' I knew I wanted to paper piece it and make features of individual circles.
I chose Bella BLVD Alex collection and a gorgeous photo of my oldest son.
Firstly I added some splatters of black Color Shine on the white card stock.
I then cut the circle cut file in black to ensure contrast.
I chose several different patterns from the collection to back the circles.
I treated each circle like a mini page to embellish so there were numerous features on the layout.
I have layered, added foam tape on some elements, machine sewed on some circles and added other embellishments off centre all to add to height, definition and texture.
I have added some woodies, brad and a flair to add more interest.
As some f the papers had writing on them I needed my title to stand out and not get lost so I chose a block colour and placed it on dark coloured circles.
The cut file Right Now bring perfect for my layout!
I have attached with foam tape to add height.
I also tucked some embellishments like the music notes under and over the circle.
You could add more photos to this layout!
Thank you for stopping by today and I hope this bright, fun boy layout has inspired you to create your own take.
Don't forget to share your creations with us on instagram.
Rockstar | Tarrah McLean June 22, 2017 07:00
Hi Just Nick fans!
This week our theme is to 'Make It Masculine' so I created a layout about my eldest son who thinks he is a rockstar at age 11!
I wanted to use some of the newest cut files just recently added to the Just Nick store...I decided to use the Rockstar title and the treble clef symbol from the Rockstar cut file set and I also used the new Star Background 5!
I used some Bella Blvd products, mostly the Alex collection plus some other bits that I have had for ages! The black puffy star is an Amy Tangerine one and the black and white phrase stickers are by Tim Holtz.
The background is a transparency that I have machine stitched to the white cardstock, I did think about adding some star confetti behind the transparency so it becomes a shaker style layout but I thought it may have ended up looking a little too busy!
That Rockstar flair is from D-Lish Scraps, a small embellishment store in Australia...I love their flair buttons so much! They always seem to have the perfect ones that suit my boys and my layouts!
Thank you so much for stopping by the Just Nick blog today and in the past, I have really appreciated everyone's support with my layouts that I have created for Just Nick Studio! Thank you so much to Nicole and the rest of the team for having me, I will miss this team so much!
Happy creating and see you all around scrapping land!
Hello Spring | Tarrah McLean April 26, 2017 07:00
Hi there Just Nick friends!
I pulled out some REALLY old Bella Blvd products for this layout...I love the pastel colours and how much they remind me of Easter as its currently not Spring in Australia...its currently Autumn!
That gorgeous thin multi-coloured stripe paper was the paper I decided to cut the Hello Spring title out of....I just love how this turned out....better than expected! I added a few embellishments to the title to help decorate the layout a little bit more and add interest..
My niece is an absolute bundle of gorgeous! She is SO photogenic...perfect for this scrapbooker....hopefully she will appreciate me creating these layouts for her one day!
In this photo, she was posing a new outfit that her parents had bought for her, she is only age 1 in this photo but already a pro at posing lol! As the outfit has bumblebees on it, the photo was perfect for this layout!
That bumblebee chipboard sticker had to make its way on this layout since there were bees on Amelia's outfit and its her nickname too!! I really like how this layout turned out....I literally cut the title first and then decided on a photo, added some other small bits of paper and embellishments and the layout was complete! Super quick one this time!
Thanks so much for stopping by the Just Nick blog today! I hope you have been enjoying the Spring inspiration from us? Why not check out the Just Nick Studio store for some cut files that would suit your next project?
Hello Love April 18, 2017 07:00
Hi everybody. Nicole here with a fun mixed media layout. Every once in a while, I like to get messy and when I say messy, I really mean it. By the time I completed this layout, my fingers were stained purple and teal. What a pretty combination!
For this layout, I used the Kaleidoscope cut file. This looks so pretty inked up.
I decided to use the digital cut file as a stencil and embellishment for my layout.
I used Clique Kit's April kit to decorate my layout once the mist was dry.
I used a few floral stamps by Altenew complete the layout. The layout looked like it needed more so I pulled out my stamps and started stamping and cutting the images from patterned paper.
Thanks for visiting today. I hope you have a great week!

Hello all. Today I have a fun layout to share with you using the Ink Splats cut file. I created this layout awhile ago and just realized that I never shared it on the blog. I think it's because I added the red transparency sheet behind the layout and just forgot about it! I totally want to share this fun layout though... This layout was super fun to make. I simply cut the splats on white cardstock and used it as a template for my layout. Then I grabbed a brush and some paint and went to town.
Once the paint was dry, I used lots of chipboard, puffy stickers, stickers and stamps to complete my layout. :) What do you think? Isn't it fun. Makes me want to pull out my paint again.
Me by Tarrah McLean July 13, 2016 07:00
Tarrah here with you today! I am super excited to be staying on the Just Nick team for another term! Huge thanks to Nicole for having me on the team once again! I absolutely LOVE cut files and include them on 90% of my layouts!
We were all asked to create a layout about ourselves...I recently changed my profile picture on Facebook to one of my favourite photos of myself (there aren't too many of those I can assure you ;)) so I decided to print it out and use that one for my page.
I'm not normally a flower person if you know me and my style but I had that gorgeous Illustrated Faith 'She Blooms' paper left over from my May Hip Kit and decided the Doily Background cut file would work perfectly with the paper! I cut it out with my Cameo and turned it around until I was happy with how it looked on my layout!
I added lots of different types of embellishments like, chipboard, wood veneer, puffy stickers, flair and enamel dots to help the cut file pop off the page and by using a black and white photo it makes the colour pop too!
Thanks so much for joining me on the Just Nick blog today!
Seriously... June 1, 2016 07:00
Hello everyone. Hope all is well. I decided to play with the Lazy Daisies cut files again. I love the fact that these cut files can be layered together to add dimensions to any project. Not only did I layer my flowers, but I layered several different types of patterned paper and embellishments on this layout. I love how this turned out.
Patterned paper: Die cuts: Elle's Studio, Thickers: American Crafts, Flair: Clique Kits, Chipboard: Bella Blvd., Enamel Dots: Richard Garay, Simple Stories, Lazy Daisy Cut file: Just Nick Studio.
Here are a few close-ups of my project.
Thanks for stopping by today!

Hello all. I've been playing with Bella Blvd. again. The "Whatever is Lovely" collection has some of my favorite colors and patterns! For one, I love yellow and teal. And another reason I love this collection is because it has butterflies, fun patterns and it's just really pretty. haha I used the "Lazy Daisies" from Just Nick Studio's shop. Love this digital cut file! The cut file comes in a variety of sizes so that you can layer them to achieve the look you want.
Supplies: Patterned Paper: Stickers: Enamel Dots: Bella Blvd., Acrylic Paint: Studio Calico, Digital cut files: Just Nick Studio, Other: Tag.
Also, I used a thin paint brush to highlight some of the words in yellow paint.
Thanks for stopping by today!
