December Daily Red Cup | Jaclyn Rench December 15, 2017 07:00 1 Comment
Hi Just Nick friends, it's Jaclyn here to share with you another page from my 2017 December Daily album. I hope you've followed along the last couple of weeks to download your FREE copies of the holiday cut designs that we've been featuring. No worries, if you missed out on one of your favorites, they are now in the store for purchase.
The Modern Tree from Day 5, has been calling my name. I love the simple graphic nature of this design and anything in a trio is just that much cuter! I used this cut file in not just one, but two ways on my day 11 spread.
I first used the trio of trees as a printable to accent my 3x4 journaling card. I colored my images within the silhouette software, and sized them down to fit just below my text. Once printed, I added an extra layer of stamping and a tiny die cut heart embellishment.
On the second part of the spread I used the cut file in the traditional sense, by sizing the polka dotted tree to fit atop my Starbucks bag. I backed it with a lighter colored cardstock and attached the two with foam adhesive for a fun dimensional look. The tree was then accented with stamping, stickers and a pretty paper clip bow, to finish off it's festive appearance.
Here's a close look at both of those elements outside of the page.
I've had so much fun incorporating these designs into my December Daily album this year. We'd love to see if you are doing the same. If so, please tag us on Instagram under the hashtag #justnickstudio so we can check them out!

14 Days of Giveaways - Day 13 | Morgan Langley December 13, 2017 07:00 2 Comments
Welcome to Day 13 of our 14 Days of Holidays cut file giveaways! Each weekday from December 1-14, 2017 we will be giving away a FREE cut file for that day only!
This cut file was SO fun to use! I cut the tags different sizes using a mix of kraft, white, and patterned card stock. Then I backed the cut outs with another scrap of paper and was ready to add some stitching accents!
On some of the tags I used a ruler to mark straight, different sized lines with a pencil and then stitched them, some I stitched around the image, others I stitched snowflakes, and a couple I did some french knot stitches!
I put thread or bakers twine through the hole of each tag and put adhesive so they would stay in position on my layout!
For my background I just sewed on some scraps of Christmas paper with my sewing machine using a mix of white and red threads. I added my photo and some wood snowflakes and Christmas trees and then the layout was complete!
Thank you for stopping by and make sure to get this file (HOLIDAY TAGS 2) today FREE with the code TAGFREE at checkout! Come back tomorrow for the 14th Day of giveaways!
14 Days of Giveaways - Day 10 | Marcia Dehn-Nix December 10, 2017 07:00
Hello JustNick Studio friends! Marcia here today for Day 10 of our 14 day FREE digital cut file giveaway! It's like Christmas (or Hanukkah, or maybe just Happy Holidays for you) everyday!
Today's FREE cut file is the Ho Ho Ho Strip and I thought it would be perfect to cut from heat transfer (iron-on) vinyl and create a festive holiday shirt for myself.
If you have never cut vinyl, you should definitely try it. The results are fabulous!! Don't worry, I will walk you through it.
Vinyl is cut with the right side facing down on the mat. (The back side is facing up.) That means, if you are cutting words, you need to flip them to their mirror image. Right click on the image and select Flip Horozontal. Resize your image to fit the shirt you want to apply it to. I sized mine so that it was 9" wide for a size L ladies t-shirt.
In the cutting window, select Cut and for material, select Vinyl (or Heat Transfer Material, or Reflective Heat Transfer). I used DecoSPARKLE Heat Transfer Holographic Vinyl. It is much thicker than regular iron on vinyl, so I increased my blade depth to 5. You want to cut through the vinyl but not the clear layer that is protecting the top of the vinyl. This is called a Kiss Cut. Play around with a small piece before cutting a large image. It helps to use a new blade and double cut.
Now we need to weed the unwanted parts away, leaving only the image cut on the protective plastic. Place the image on your shirt, centering it, and heat up your iron to the cotton setting. Different vinyl might recommend using a different setting. Be careful about your shirt selection! You do not want to use a shirt that will melt when you apply heat. When the iron is hot enough, apply even pressure on top of your image, moving the iron to make sure you are applying heat to the entire image. Let it cool for a minute, then try to peel the clear top layer away. If it is not peeling easily, replace the clear top layer, and iron some more.
Wash inside out and hang to dry to extend the life of your garment. I hope you give it a try.
Remember that Today's design - Ho Ho Ho Strip - is yours for FREE today only!

14 Days of Giveaways - Day 7 - Cathy Martin December 07, 2017 07:05 2 Comments
Hi everyone I'm up on the blog today and I'm using this gorgeous Joyful cut file! Just for today you can get this cut file for free by using the code JOYFREE2 This really is a very lovely cut file, and even though it's part of Nicole's Christmas giveaway I decided to use it for a slightly different layout. I used it for a winter layout, with a picture that was taken at the end of January. Even the word Joy can be versatile, and if there is something that I cannot say enough about Nicole's cut files it is that they can be used in soooooo many ways!
For my layout I used a combination of products from the Snow and Cocoa collection as well as the Turn the Page collection. It might seem like a bit of a strange pairing but there were some overlapping color schemes that helped me bring in more colors than just pink and teal. I used the offset feature in Silhouette Studio to create an outline for the cut file. I then used patterned paper to cut out the outline and white paper for the middle. Propping it all up with foam gave just the right amount of dimension and interest! I am so happy with the simplicity and sense of wonder and joy that comes across through all the elements.
Thank you for joining me today and I hope you go and grab your free cut file, and don't forget to stop by each day for the next 7 days for more cut files and inspiration!
Naughty or Nice | Tarrah McLean January 02, 2017 07:00
Hi there Just Nick fans and HAPPY NEW YEAR!
It's Tarrah McLean back with you today! I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas! I am guessing you may have lots of photos to scrapbook so today I have some inspiration for you using one of the Christmas title cut files in store called Naughty or Nice!
I used the super cute Mistletoe Kisses collection from Simple Stories together with the Naughty or Nice cut file! I love the cute elements included in this collection!
Below is the image of the cut file I used!
As there was lots of green going in on this layout I decided to cut the title from red cardstock...I feel it helps to balance out some of the colours.
Just before Christmas, my boys and I went to a Christmas party at a good friends house. She had an awesome photo booth set up, my boys loved playing in there, so I just had to snap a few pics of course!
I hope you will get some time to create over the Christmas break? Why not check out all the cut files available in the Just Nick store? They really do help to enhance your projects!
Thank you so much for stopping by the Just Nick blog today!

Hey everyone! I hope you all had a wonderful holiday celebration, and cheers to us fast approaching a new year! I don't know about you guys but I will definitely be glad to see 2016 go in some respects, but in others I was so happy for many of the experiences gained during the year. I am loving my time here on the JustNick design team and I adore her files, so I'm so glad to share another one with you all today! So even though Christmas is done, that just means for me that it's time to get scrapping all of those wonderful photos and memories while it's still wintery white outside. I absolutely adored the Holiday Tree cut file when she put it up in the shop and I knew I needed to use it asap so I decided not to wait until next Christmas and to use it for a holiday photo now! My original plan for this layout was to use a picture of my son and to use a gray/brown wood grain paper as my background, but after stumbling on this funky turquoise Websters Pages paper I changed up my game plan and used a picture of my daughter instead. I love the funky, eclectic look of the layout and all the bright fun pops of colour and bling throughout!

Hi friends -
I hope you had a GREAT christmas! Can you believe that the year has almost come to an end?! I for sure can't! Time flies when you're having fun - or are in the hospital for the first half of the year.
I had a great time this year in the amazing Just Nick Team and can't wait to see what next year brings and what great cut files Nicole comes up with - I bet you are as excited as I am!
Today I have a Holiday project for you - I was able to use any design from the store and decided to go festive and scrap a picture of me and my mom at a christmas market.
I just got in the Merry and Bright collection from Fancypants when I started this project and knew I would use it for my layout.
Looking through the cut files I saw the amazing Holiday Tree design. I wasn't quit sure what do with it, but started by cutting it out of regular cardstock.
Then I had the idea to color the design with watercolors and did that - absolutely love the look! I popped everything up on some foam squares and adhered it down to a patterned paper from the collection.
A little embellishing around my picture, some ink splatters and this page was done!
I hope you enjoyed todays post and I will catch up with you in the New Year!

Unique Christmas Tags December 22, 2016 06:00 1 Comment
Hi everyone. I created some fun tags using the Holiday Tags file Nicole offered during the 12 days of freebies earlier this month.
I mixed and matched and trimmed and supersized to make each tag my own. I can't wait to adorn my gifts with these custom tags.
I layered them all with a mix of patterned paper and cardstock and I even stitched some.
I'm excited to add a little bit of personal touch to each gift this year!
Merry And Bright Tree December 15, 2016 07:00 1 Comment
Hello friends! It's Lee-Anne here today sharing a festive layout of my Christmas tree from a few Christmases past.
I began my layout by using some distress ink and a water pen to watercolor the white card stock and let it dry.
For my tree, I inserted a sketch pen in my Silhouette Cameo and sketched the design around the one tree shape from the Tree Trio 2 set and then I removed the sketch pen and inserted the cutting blade in the machine and offset it so I could cut the design out. Hand stitching always gives the project more texture and a homespun feel to the layout so I opted to hand stitch with green embroidery floss around the sketch line.
To add lots of depth to the tree, I placed a sheet of green plaid paper underneath. This seemed to do the trick as the cut tree shape bended the card stock upwards to give it the depth I was looking for.
I also used the Merry & Bright phrase from the Holiday Sentiments collection for my title.
First I cut it on my Cameo with some red plaid paper and used some liquid dimensional adhesive to give it more depth. To keep the title securely in place, I machine stitched the title down because it tends to curl when dimensional adhesive is applied.
The embellishing was fun! I used some sheer ribbon as "garland" by twisting the ribbon and securing it with scotch tape on the backside of the tree and then created some bows out of different colors of ribbon and added some flair buttons on top of the bows to look like "ornaments". To complete the embellishing, I added some sequins from my stash to the tree to give it more sparkle and some wood stars that give it a rustic feel.
I love experimenting with the cut files and trying various techniques. I hope you enjoyed my layout.
Be sure and check out all the amazing designs in the Just Nick shop. There are new ones added each and every week. Have a wonderful, creative day!
Handmade Holiday Tags December 13, 2016 07:00 1 Comment
I love the holiday season! Unfortunately, it's not celebrated here in Saudi Arabia. I miss it terribly, so I just content myself looking at family photos shared on social media.
However, I still like making handmade tags, cards. That's what I am gonna be sharing with you all today.
I used a simple brown wrapping paper. The tags made them extra special!
Bling it on! Smaller rhinestones would have been better but I think it still turned out cute :D
For this one, I jazzed it up with glittered paper and some red rhinestones as well
last but not the least is this one. And it's my most fave out of all the 3 I made. I used gold paint marker to color the snowflakes and adhered red rhinestones in the middle to make them pop.
That's all for now! I hope you liked my projects today!

12 Days of Giveaways - Day 7 December 07, 2016 07:00 1 Comment
It's always a fun time when I get to join everyone on the blog. I get to play along with our 12 Days of Giveaways and today we are giving the Holiday Sentiments 2 away for FREE.
We all need some good sentiments in our cut file stash, don't we? I see these being used on pages documenting all your wonderful holiday memories. I'm sharing how you can also use them on cards. For my first card, I went really simple. No frills. No special techniques. Just straight up cut file with a couple of embellishments. I'm all about playing it simple during the holidays and... bonus... this would be so easy to replicate!
For my next card I tried out stitching the word. I had a plan, in my mind, for what I wanted to do and it just didn't turn out. I wanted red twine and such but... I really like the white looks. There are so many tutorials out there on how to turn a cut file into stitching. Some will tell you to use sketch pens and then use a paper piercer. I just don't have the patience for that. So, I used the perforated cut option on my Silhouette. It doesn't do holes... just little dashes of cuts. And it worked so well.
I kind of like that the word doesn't jump out at you. You can still see it, though. I think it exudes the peacefulness of Christmas time. With the exception of the stitching and time that took, I kept it pretty clean and simple for this card too. Just a few ephemera and I was done!
Thanks for joining me on day seven of our 12 Days of Giveaways!
You can get the Holiday Sentiments 2 cut file for FREE by using this code: SENT2FREE
You may use this code until midnight CST, December 7, 2016. No purchase necessary!

12 Days of Giveaways - Day 5 Merry Christmas | Tarrah McLean December 05, 2016 07:00 5 Comments
It's Tarrah McLean back with you today!
Today is the 5th day of the 12 days of Giveaway here on the Just Nick blog - which is so exciting! Nicole has outdone herself with all the designs for this giveaway and you can keep your eyes on the lookout for some beautiful new and FREE cut files coming up in the next days! The design team have created wonderful projects to showcase each design and for inspiration.
I am sharing the layout that I created using the free cut file for today - the Tree Trio 2 cut file.
I kept my layout fairly simple for a change and I like how it turned out! I cut the three trees from 3 different patterned papers and placed them framing my photo slightly.
By adding some layering pieces like stickers and small embellishments I was able to add some extra interest to my page without completely covering up the tree cut files I created. A large chipboard title was begging to be used I I would have had it for like 8 years I think!!) so I finally got to use it!
Today’s design – Tree Trio 2 - is yours for FREE today only!
3 x Christmas Cards | Tarrah McLean November 19, 2016 07:00
Hi Just Nick fans!
I decided to create 3 Christmas cards for this week:
The first card I created, I used the Ho Ho Ho title from the Holiday Sentiments cut file set, cutting it from white cardstock and using foam tape to pop it up a little bit!
This cut file set is so versatile, as you get all of these cute titles for your holiday/Christmas projects in the one set!
The 2nd card I created, I used the 25 frame from Holiday Overlay 1 cut file set! I cut the 25 frame from white cardstock again and backed the frame with some red Christmas themed paper. I then used foam tape to raise the whole thing on top of the green Christmas themed paper.
Frames with images or words are great to use on cards, you can cut them from paper or cardstock for a fun look.
The 3rd card I created, I used the Holiday Tree Background. I cut this tree and the frame that its attached to with the green Christmas paper. I adhered it to a white cardstock background and added some Holiday themed embellishments to finish off my card.
The Holiday Tree background can be used for either a scrapbook layout or for cards too, you just need to resize the image accordingly!
Hope you enjoyed looking at my Christmas cards today! Thanks so much for stopping by the Just Nick blog!

holiday tags. December 22, 2015 07:00
Hello, Diana here! Holiday season is in full swing with all the excitement and busyness that goes with it! I challenged myself creating fun tags using both older and brand new cuts from the JustNick store!
The cool thing about these tags is that not only can they work for gifts but also be used as ornaments on your tree! Here are the different tags I created closeup:
The cuts that I used were:
and a sneak peak at Snowflakes coming December 26.
As you can see cuts can be manipulated (such as the background cut) to a different shape. In that case from square to rectangle and smaller. (from 12x12 to 3x4). I am looking forward to giving these little tags away--they are little projects made with a lot of love!
