The Beauty Of You | Claudia van Rooijen May 19, 2020 07:00
Hello friends! Claudia here with you and today I'm sharing a layout I created using the Pinkfresh Studio Just A Little Lovely collection and the Crazy Circle Background cut file.
The collection comes with this beautiful floral wreath type of paper so I thought it would cool to cut it out and layer it behind my photo.
I didn't want this layout to be overly complicated so I mostly just grabbed some florals featured within the collection and layered them behind the wreath for a little bit of dimension.
I added some enamel dots around the layout for some additional pops of color.
The acetate florals are my favorite within the collection - I love the effect they add and this color is so pretty!
Then I punched out some tiny butterflies and positioned them on the layout with the wings folded up.
The last thing I did was add some gold splatters which makes it all come together.
Thank you so much for joining me - I hope you enjoyed seeing this layout!
Have a wonderful day,

Celebrate Spring | Claudia van Rooijen March 23, 2020 07:00
Hello friends! Claudia here with you and today I'm sharing a layout I created using the beautiful new Floral Wreath 4 cut file and the Maggie Holmes Flourish collection from a few years ago. The theme of the layout is spring and I couldn't really think of a collection that is more fitting.
I decided to just cut it from white cardstock and then pulled the papers from the collection to see which one looked best with it. I went with this pink polka dot paper.
I wasn't sure what I wanted to do with the layout since the photo is actually a bit larger than the photos I normally use but ended up creating a floral cluster at the bottom of the photos using all the different florals within the collection and putting foam tape behind some of then to create some nice dimension.
I also fussy cut some butterflies to create even more dimension on top of all the florals.
I definitely wanted to keep the focus on the photo which is why I decided to not put anything above the photo - I also didn't want the layout to get too busy.
I had a lot of fun sitting down with this (older) collection and revisiting it.
Thank you for joining me, I hope you enjoyed seeing this layout but most of all I hope you are staying safe and healthy during this time.
Summertime Loving | Claudia van Rooijen March 13, 2020 07:00
Hello friends! Claudia here with you and today I'm sharing a layout I created using the Maggie Holmes Sunny Days collection (can you tell I'm really trying to finish documenting my last vacation in time for my next one in June?) and the new Floral Doily cut file from the store.
I wasn't sure if I wanted to use white cardstock or patterned paper for this cut file but ended up using the blue pattern from the collection to cut it with.
Then I pulled out the 12x12 paper pad and see which paper I wanted to use as the background. I picked the paper with the navy dots since it was the most subtle one.
I thought it would be nice to be able to add some dimension behind the cut file so I grabbed a piece of white paper and traced the outline of the cutfile so I could mount it and put some foam tape behind the whole thing.
The paper flower was a great way to add both dimension and texture to the layout.
My goal was to create a layout with a summer vibe and I think I did okay in accomplishing that.
Thank you for joining me today, I hope you enjoyed seeing this layout and that you will have a wonderful day.
Love You | Claudia van Rooijen February 5, 2020 07:00
Hello friends! Claudia here with you and today I am sharing a layout I created with the new 'Love You Outline' cut file and the Maggie Holmes Chasing Dreams collection.
I have always been a fan of cut files with titles and what I liked even more about this one is that you could, if you want to, back the outline with a different pattern paper which I did for some of the letters. It's also a great way to use up your scraps or 6"x6" papers!
Before I started I set aside some papers and decided to go with, probably my fave color scheme of pink, yellow, teal and a little bit of black.
I then added this chipboard piece that says 'Happy Heart' for a sub title. I had been struggling to use this piece for a while because it's quite large, even though I really like it, but I felt like it fit perfectly on this layout.
Lastly I added some (gold) hearts and butterflies to the layout to finish it off. I always fold up their wings to create more dimension.
Thank you so much for joining me, I hope you enjoyed seeing this layout and that I was able to inspire you to create something.
Love In Bloom | Claudia van Rooijen January 17, 2020 07:00
Hello friends! Claudia here and today I'm sharing a layout with you I created using the Crate Paper Hello Love collection and the Fancy Floral Ring cut file. I'm personally not someone who really does anything for Valentines Day but I always love the collections that come out for it because the color scheme is right up my alley. ;)
I decided to use white cardstock for the cut file so that I could then back the florals with the pink ombre paper from the collection.
I used some gold glittered paper for the middle part of the florals to add some pops of gold and interest to the layout - you can never really go wrong with a touch of gold.
I fussy cut some florals out of the floral paper and placed them on the inside of the circle - the florals in this collection are so pretty!
For my title I used a mix of leftovers to try and create a more interesting looking title.
I then added some embellishments from the sticker sheet such as a few arrows and gold glitter hearts to finish off my layout.
Thank you so much for joining me today, I hope you enjoyed seeing this layout and hope that you will have a wonderful day.
Happy New Year | Claudia van Rooijen January 6, 2020 07:00
Hello friends! Claudia here with you sharing a layout created using the Shattered Windowpanes cut file and a mixture of older Crate Paper collections.
I am documenting my goals for 2020 so I figured this cut file would be nice to use with it since it provides a grid design which is perfect for documenting the new year resolutions.
I used some thickers from the Maggie Holmes Bloom collection for the numbers.
Then I cut out some squares to fit within some of the others out of white paper (I used the back side of some 6" scraps for this) to write my actual goals on. I honestly never do journaling on my pages (especially not handwritten) because I just don't like my handwriting but for this layout I decided to make an exception.
The last thing I added were some black / gold stars to create a little more interest, I felt like this really made it all come together.
Thank you so much for joining me today. I hope 2020 has been off to a great start for you!
Cute Friendship | Claudia van Rooijen December 31, 2019 07:00
Hello friends! Claudia here with you with the last layout of the year - I truly can't believe how fast this year has flown by!
Today I'm sharing a layout I created using the Rosette Background cut file and the beautiful Pick Me Up collection by Paige Evans / Pink Paislee from a few years ago.
As soon as I saw it I knew I wanted to use this beautiful ombre paper with the cut file - I really love this color!
Since the collection has a lot of fun colors and I wanted to bring most of them in, I decided to pull out some black and white photos to create a nice contrast. I thought these photos of my cats Joey and Mickey were adorable so how could I not scrap them?
I've been really loving shaped paperclips these days - they are a great way to add interest to any project and I always love an extra touch of gold!
I added some layering behind one of the photos and for the other one I simply used a die cut frame and added some foam tape behind it to add some more dimension to my layout.
The 'Cute' letters are actually from an older Maggie Holmes collection but I figured they would still work quite well with the layout since I wanted to add a little bit of black to it to create more contrast.
Lastly I pulled out this colorful triangle paper from the collection and used it as a border for my layout.
Thank you so much for visiting and I hope you enjoyed seeing the layout. I wish you all a very happy and crafty new year! :-)
12 Days of Giveaways Day 12 | Claudia van Rooijen December 12, 2019 07:00 1 Comment
Hello scrappy friends! Claudia here and it's Day 12 of our 12 Days of Givaways.
Today's freebie is the Christmas Tree cut file:
Use the code TREE4FREE during checkout to get this cut file for free.
The code is only valid on December 12th, 2019 until midnight CST.
For my layout I'm using a photo taken during Christmas last year of me, my mom and my grandmother. I created this layout with the Crate Paper Snow & Cocoa collection which is one of my favorite winter/Christmas collections as I adore the colors.
I spent quite a lot of time layering this cut file but I think the end result was well worth it. In some parts I layered some vellum on top of patterned paper which is not something I had done before but I really love the look of it.
If you back a lot of cut files I can definitely recommend having a gold glittered paper in your stash (or any other glitter paper if gold is not your thing) because it will look good on pretty much all cut files.
I had a lot of fun embellishing this layout and am happy with the way it turned out.
Thank you for joining me today, I hope you enjoyed seeing my layout!
How Sweet This Is | Claudia van Rooijen November 26, 2019 07:00
Hello everyone! Claudia here with another layout I created using the Pinkfresh Studio Just A Little Lovely collection.
For this layout I'm using the beautiful Remember Floral cut file.
I cut it from white cardstock and then mounted it with a watercolor background paper from the collection.
I knew I wanted it to mostly feature pink and yellow.
I placed a few of the phrase stickers that I felt applied to my photo (a selfie of me and Amy during one of our walks in August).
It's quite a simple layout but I really wanted the cut file to be the main focus of the layout so I felt that it didn't need a ton of embellishing and only added a few small things here and there.
Thank you for joining me today, I hope you enjoyed seeing this layout!
Thankful | Claudia van Rooijen November 15, 2019 07:00
Hello friends! Today I'm sharing a layout I created with the new 'Grateful Heart' cut file and the Pinkfresh Studio Just A Little Lovely collection. I'm thankful for so many people but for this one I decided to document this photo of me and Amy (our dog) because I'm so thankful for having her as my walking companion which has been great for both my physical and mental health this past year.
The first thing I did was decide which paper to mount behind the cut file and ended up going for this pretty watercolor paper (my favorite!) that was a perfect match for the color scheme I had in mind.
I knew I wanted to use lots of flower around and inside of the heart so I pulled a decent amount of acetate florals from the collection.
I placed some enamel dots all around to create pops of color - I love these!
I backed white paper behind some of the acetate florals so that they weren't see through anymore and others I just kept as is for a little bit of variety in texture.
In the end I came in with the puffy stickers to fill up some of the empty spaces within the heart.
I hope you enjoyed seeing this layout and that you will feel inspired to craft yourself!
Have a great day and thank you for stopping by!
Happy Place | Claudia van Rooijen October 21, 2019 07:00
Hello friends! Claudia here with you and today I'm sharing a layout I created with the Leaf Circle background cut file and the Maggie Holmes Gather collection from a few years ago.
My idea with this cut file was to back the leaves with a wooden paper (which the Gather collection had) and then back the inside of the circle with another background paper. It took me quite a while to figure out which one to put there but I ended up going with the paper that has all the strips for some pops of color.
I then put some foam tape behind the cut file before putting it on top of this typewriter paper.
The photo I'm using is larger than what I usually use so I mostly embellished with some tiny florals to make it look a little more interesting but not take too much away from the photo.
This wooden paperclip from the Pinkfresh Studio Indigo Hills collection was quite a good match for my layout and I liked the dimension it added. I always love adding some sort of paperclip to my layouts!
The layout took quite a while to make but I had a lot of fun and am quite happy with how it turned out!
I hope you enjoyed seeing this layout and that it will inspire you in some way. Thank you for joining me today!
Cherished Moments | Claudia van Rooijen October 7, 2019 07:00
Hello scrappy friends! It's Claudia here with you and today I'm sharing a layout I created with the Maggie Holmes Shine collection (Do you remember this one? It's one of my all time favorites!) and the new Geometric Frames cut file.
I figured this would be a great cut file to use with some 6"x6" papers so the first thing I did was separate the frames in Silhouette Studio and pick out the papers I wanted to use.
I wasn't really quite sure what I wanted to do with them after they were cut but after a while I decided they could probably use some patterned paper backed behind the frames so I pulled out some subtle patterns from the collection.
After that I started working on my layering and chose mostly subtle patterns in a variety of colors - I love the contrast of the navy against the wood color!
I absolutely love the design and colors of these chipboard letters so most of my layout is actually based off of them. I decided to layer it up quite thick as you can see with another chipboard heart, a tassel and a horse (which is from Maggie's Gather collection).
I punched out some circles using my 1" circle punch from EK Success. Then I cut them in half and used them to create a scalloped border on the bottom left frame.
Thank you so much for joining me, I hope you will feel inspired to start creating yourself!
Sunny Days | Claudia van Rooijen September 25, 2019 07:00
Hello friends! It's Claudia here with you and today I am sharing a layout I created with the Maggie Holmes Sunny Days collection and the 'Stained Glass Lace' cut file.
The first thing I did after cutting the file was decide which background paper to use with it, I ended up going with this pink striped paper from the Sunny Days collection which I chose because the pattern was not too busy.
I then started working on my layers behind my photo - I decided to make these a bit larger than my photo and kind of tilt them in different angles behind it to make them look just a little more interesting.
I knew I wanted to decorate the circles within the cut file with little elements so the clear sticker sheets from the collection were a good fit for that seeing as they are kind of scaled down and fit perfectly within the circles.
Lastly I added some gold splatters using Heidi Swapp's Color Shine to finish up my layout.
Thank you so much for joining me today, I hope you enjoyed seeing the layout and that you will feel inspired to start crafting yourself!
Happy Day | Claudia van Rooijen September 11, 2019 07:00
Hello friends! It's Claudia here and today I am sharing a layout I created using the 'Happy' cut file and the gorgeous 'Just A Little Lovely' collection from Pinkfresh Studio.
One of the things I love most about this type of cutfile is that it can be both a title and background element. They are also great to use up some of your scraps.
The first thing I did was back the letters with some papers that I took out of the 6x6 paper pad.
Then I put some of the floral die cuts behind the letters to make the whole thing come together.
I love the mixed embellishment pack in the collection so I made sure to use those on the layout as well - I truly adore those gold glittered enamel dots!
Lastly I added some strips of patterned paper at the top of the layout, these are from the 6x6 paper pad since I really liked the scaled down version. It was also a nice addition because they feature all the colors in the collection!
Thank you so much for joining me - I hope you enjoyed seeing this layout and that you will feel inspired to start crafting yourself! Have lovely day!
Bloom With Grace | Claudia van Rooijen August 25, 2019 07:00
Hello friends! Thank you so much for joining me. Today I am sharing a layout I created using the Crop Circle Background 2 cut file and the Maggie Holmes Flourish collection.
My plan originally was to mount the circles with some patterned paper but since the circles are so intricate I decided it would be best to just leave them as they are. I am also using two smaller sized photos for this layout which is nice because they are fairly small and they don't cover up the cut file too much.
I then proceeded to embellish the circles with stickers and chipboard pieces to make the layout look just a little bit more interesting.
I used this large die cut piece for my title which worked quite well and was a great way to finish up the layout.
I hope you enjoyed seeing this layout and that you will have a wonderful day!
Sweet Memories / Claudia van Rooijen July 23, 2019 07:00
Hello friends! Claudia here with you and today I'm sharing a layout I created using the lovely Blossom Background 2 cut file and the Shine Bright collection from Pretty Little Studio.
When I saw this cut file for the first time I thought it would look amazing cut with the marble paper from the collection. However due to a mistake on my part with the settings (the Pretty Little Studio papers are quite smooth in comparison to the papers I usually cut), not everything was cut the way it was supposed to be.
Because I didn't want to waste the paper I decided to just use the 'good' parts which is why it looks a little bit different. I really wanted to share it because I think it turned out well regardless of the mishap I experienced at the start.
I used some enamel dots from my stash in the middle of the florals for a pop of color and dimension.
I cut out some gold foiled butterflies from the 3"x4" journaling cards from the collection. For my title I used a mix of die cuts, (alpha) stickers and foam scripted words from my stash.
Make sure to check out the cut file if you haven't done so already;
Thank you so much for joining me today, I hope you enjoyed seeing this layout and that you will feel inspired to sit down and create yourself. Have a lovely day!
Dream Big / Claudia van Rooijen July 13, 2019 07:00
Hello everyone! Thanks for having me today. My name is Claudia van Rooijen and today I am sharing my first layout since joining the JustNick design team which I am incredibly excited about! I'm 26 years old and live in the Netherlands. I have always loved being creative and in my free time whenever I'm not scrapping or gaming I love designing (scrapbooking collections). I also enjoy traveling with my boyfriend (who lives in Denmark so I don't see him that often), going for runs or bike rides.
I first started scrapping in 2005 after my mom introduced me to it but fully got into it in 2013. Last year I finally took the step to purchase a Silhouette Cameo and I'm so glad that I did - I feel like it has made all the difference and I'm so happy that I can finally use all these pretty cut files on my projects!
For my first layout here I am using the gorgeous Behold Beauty cut file and the Take Me Away collection by Paige Evans / Pink Paislee from several years ago.
I cut out a few florals from one of the papers in the collection to tuck in between my layers.
I thought it would be a fun idea to 'decorate' the middle part of the florals so I added some chipboard stickers and wood buttons. I always love using a lot of different textures on my pages to create more interest and dimension.
Whenever I'm scrapping I always like to add layers behind my photo, 99% of the time one of the layers will be vellum/acetate because I just love the way it looks!
For my title I used these thickers from an old Dear Lizzy collection to add some more black to the page to tie in with my black and white photos.
Do you use newer collections when scrapping or are you trying to use up your stash?
I really hope you enjoyed this layout and that you feel inspired to start creating! Thank you for joing me and I wish you a lovely day.
