JustNick Cut File Store

Special Bond | Sophie Delorme June 3, 2021 07:00

Hello JustNick friends!

It’s Sophie on the blog today with a new layout to share:

I used a beautiful cut file from the store named “Leafy Floral”:

As you can see it is a background cut file but I decided to use it in pieces.

I started my layout with a white cardstock as my base. I applied a little bit of aqua watercolor on it. Then, I teared three strips of patterned papers from the lovely Carta Bella Paper “Oh Happy Day” collection to create 3 horizontal lines, on which I did a zig zag stitch with white thread.

I used a 3x4” card for my journaling that I placed between the two black and white photos of me and my sweet Sabrina.

At the base of the photos, I created a big floral cluster. That’s where I used numerous leaves that I cut out of the beautiful cut file. I adhered only the base of them to create more dimension. I love that the watercolor background shows softly behind the leaves.

I added my title and scattered some Nuvo Drops around the page as the finishing touch.

Here are more close-ups.

How I like the result!

Don’t hesitate to cut into your cut files or modify them to fit with your design.

I hope this has give you new ideas to try!

Thank you for stopping by, I wish you a great crafty day!

Dream Big by Sophie Delorme April 28, 2021 07:00

Hey friends !

It’s Sophie on the blog today with a new layout to share !

It’s Spring time and it is the theme of my page !

I used the new Spring Floral 1 and Spring Floral 2 cut files.

I decided to place them as three flower bouquets hanging down above my photo.

I cut them on white cardstock and backed them with the beautiful Echo Park Paper collection named “Salutation no.1”

I used a thick white cardstock as my base and played with watercolors to create a little green and blue mixed media background beneath were I planned to place my photos. I also added many tiny colored splatters that matched my color scheme.

I printed my photos in black and white. They are cute moments between Sabrina and our dog Fiona playing together during the pandemic lockdown. I added adhesive foam behind my photo and a strip of blue patterned paper to ground it.

I created a little floral cluster on the right lower side of the photos as a recall from the bouquets, and added a journaling card for my handwritten journaling.

I decorated the three bouquets with flowers and leaves die cuts from the same Echo Park collection and punched three bows out of patterned paper placed at the base of each bouquet.

Finally, I scattered many beautiful Pinkfresh Studio Crystal Mix as the final touch.

Here are more close-ups:

I looove this Spring feel so much !

I hope you felt inspired by this layout and those gorgeous cut files ! Check out the store for many more beautiful cut file ideas and inspiration !

Stay Amazing by Sophie Delorme April 6, 2021 07:00

Hello crafty friends !

It’s Sophie on the blog today with a new layout to share !

I used the beautiful “Stay Focused” cut file that I cut on white cardstock with my cutting machine.

I backed this cute camera with aqua cardstock and some patterned papers printed at home from a Felicity Jane digital collection.

I made sure to pop some elements of the cut file, like the lens of the camera, with adhesive foam for more dimension.

Before adhering it to my page, I created a light watercolor background and added a few splatters of watercolor paint in colors that matched my paper collection. My photo was quite neutral so I printed it in color. I added tissue paper and adhesive foam behind it and a teared piece of pink polka dot paper that I tucked under the photo, on its right side.

I also fussy cut two white frames from the same Felicity Jane collection and placed them on the left side of the photo.

My title is a mix of the same “Stay Focused” cut file (for the word “Stay”) and a Simple Stories Cardstock sticker for the word “Amazing”. As you noticed, I did a little bit of doodling with a fine tip black pen on the word stay and on the camera.

Finally, I simply added a few fussy cut flowers and leaves around the photo and cut file, handwrote my journaling and stamped the date.

Here are more close-ups:

I hope that I could inspire you today and that you like this page !

Dream My Little Angel | Sophie Delorme March 12, 2021 07:00

Hello Crafty friends !

It’s Sophie on the blog today with a new layout to share !

I used the Fall Foliage 2 cut file for this page.

I started with a thick white cardstock as my base, and applied an Inklingz from Shimmerz Paints using the packaging technique where I planned to put my cut file.

I cut the cut file on white cardstock and placed it to create 2/3 of a wreath on the left side of my page.

I backed the leaves of the cut file with the beautiful Felicity Jane digital collection named Hanna. I put adhesive foam behind the cut file before adhering it to the page. I love the subtle dimension it creates, and the soft effect of white on white. Perfect for a winter page !

Then, I backed my photo with tissue paper, patterned paper and adhesive foam, and I fussy cut plenty of floral ephemeras from the same Felicity Jane collection to embellish my page.

My title is a mix of Thickers and stickers from my stash.

I hand wrote my journaling and stamped the date.

This layout came together in no time at all ! Using a big cut file really dictates the design of the page and makes it a very easy process !

I hope that I inspired you with this page today,

LOVE YOU / Mandalla Heart / Sophie Delorme February 5, 2021 07:00

Hello crafty friends !

It’s Sophie on the blog today with a new layout to share.

I focused on the beautiful Mandalla Heart 3 cut file that will be in the Just Nick Studio store very soon if not yet !

I cut the heart quite big to be able to fit my photo in.

I thought to leave it all white this time, to make it look like a beautiful soft lace that embraces the sweet photo of my daughter and our dog.

I used the Pinkfresh Studio “My Favorite Story” collection to create this layout. I used a striped patterned paper for my background that I cut in a 11 inches square, and backed it with a beautiful soft green floral paper. I added a blue patterned paper to the center of the heart to make my photo stand out.

I hand stitched with blue thread the junction of the blue paper with the cut file, and also hand stitched a few X’s around the edge of the page. I adore that subtle addition it gives to the page !

I backed my photo with tissue paper and pink patterned paper and embellished around it with a few floral clusters.

I wrote down my journaling on a piece of white cardstock on which I added velum paper and a beautiful pink puffy frame.

Finally, I added a few white Nuvo Drops as the finishing touch !

Here are more close-ups:

I love how it turned out ! Even though the Mandalla Heart Cut file is plain white, I think it is still the focus on my page and I totally adore it !

I hope you felt inspired by my page in some way today !

Thank you for stopping by !

Enjoy The Moment | Sophie Delorme January 22, 2021 07:00

Hello crafty friends !

It’s Sophie on the blog today with a new layout to share.

I used two different cut files for this page. The first one is called “Rustic Winter Frame” and the second one, for my title, is called “Enjoy The Moment”.

I decided to enlarge quite a bit and cut the Rustic Winter Frame on white cardstock. I cut out the inner piece of the frame on watercolor paper, added a little bit of mixed media on my background with watercolors and, once dried, stitched the beautiful frame on the page. As you noticed I also backed the fine line around the frame with blue cardstock that matched my color scheme.

Then, I added dimensional foam to the back of my whole background before adhering it to a beautiful patterned paper from the Pinkfrech Studio collection named “Oh what Fun !”. I love how it brings depth to the frame and direct the attention to my photo.

I created a beautiful floral and leaves cluster on the lower left of the frame, where there already is a bunch of leaves from the cut file. I added ephemeras from the Pinkfresh Studio collection and also punched leaves out of colored cardstock.

I cut the cut file title on green cardstock and did an offset cut on white cardstock. I adhered the two of them together and added some Glossy Accents (from Ranger) on the green cardstock to make it shine.

Finally, I added a few Nuvo Drops here and there around the page and hand wrote my journaling.

Here are more close-ups:

I love how it turned out !  I hope you do too !

Thank you for stopping by today !

I will see you very soon !

It’s Sophie and I am sharing a beautiful layout to inspire you with this amazing FREE cut file available today in the JustNick shop for the “12 days of Givaways” event !  It is named “Winter Wreath”.

I cut it on white cardstock with my cutting machine and backed all the pretty tiny leaves and flowers with a beautiful Christmas collection from P13 called “The Four Seasons; Winter”.

My background is a patterned paper from the same collection, on which I applied white gesso behing where I planned to put the wreath. I also added plenty of white splatters on the page.

I carefully added adhesive foam behind the cut file before adhering it to the page.

My photo is from my little girl and me setting up our Christmas village ! I backed the photo with tissue paper, adhesive foam and a patterned paper, and placed it on the inner right side of the wreath. I added a Project Life card next to it for my journaling.

I fussy cut numerous leaves and berries mainly from the same P13 collection but also from a Mintay Papers Flora Book to embellish the wreath. I created a huge cluster on the right lower corner of my photo and a smaller one on top of the wreath with two beautiful bows, made out of ribbon and cardstock.

Picture Perfect by Sophie Delorme November 9, 2020 07:30

Hello everyone !

It's Sophie here and I am very happy to share this lovely layout with you today !

I used the beautiful Botanical Wreath that just arrived to the store in October.

I cut the wreath on my cutting machine and used only the 2/3 of it.

I started my page with a thick white cardstock, on which I added a bit of water-colour paint behind where I planned to put the wreath. I did little splatters of blue water-colour and some gold color shine as well.

I backed the delicate wreath with patterned papers from the beautiful Jen Hadfield collection named "The Avenue". I added some fussy cut leaves, flowers and chestnuts from the same collection.

I added adhesive foam behind the cut file before adhering it to the page.

The photo is from me and my son, documenting how tall he his at 16 years old, and how time flies by....

My title is from a pocket life card, and I also created a label on which I stamped "Time Flies" with blue ink.

Finally, I created other leaves with an exclusive stamp set from Scrapbook and Cards Today to add to the floral clusters, and sticked down little golden puffy sticker leaves from Jen Hadfield.

I hand wrote my journaling and stamped the date.

Here are more close-ups:

I love how it turned out !

My Little Sweet Heart | Sophie Delorme October 2, 2020 07:00 46 Comments

Hello all !

It's Sophie with you today sharing an adorable layout using the beautiful Whimsical Frames cut file.

Here is the cut file:

I cut the right upper frame three times with my cutting machine on white cardstock, and backed the centre of the frames with a photo of me and my little girl Sabrina, and some patterned papers from the Felicity Janes digital kit named "Amber".

Before adhering the frames to my page, I played with some water-colours to create a soft and subtle mixed media background that matched the color scheme of the collection.

I added adhesive foam under the frames for more dimension. I chose my title, which is a combination of some American Crafts Thickers and Pinkfresh Studio Mini puffy alpha stickers, and centered it just above my photo.

I fussy cut embellishments from the Felicity Jane collection like the leaves, the pumpkins and the beautiful hearts, as well as a subtitle.

Finally, I added a paper bow, created with a punch, on top of the first frame, as the finishing touch.

I love how it turned out ! These frames are so delicate and plenty of tiny details !

Remember, you don't always have to necessarily put a photo in a frame. You can embellish them with patterned papers or die cuts, ephemeras, etc.

Here are more close-ups of the layout:

I hope that you found inspiration in this layout !

TOGETHER RIGHT NOW by Sophie Delorme September 11, 2020 07:00

Hello JustNick friends !

It's Sophie here today and I am sharing a colourful layout with you !

I used one of the newest cut file in the shop called Boho Florals 3:

I started my design with a white background, playing with mixed media, applying some Distress Oxide inks diluted with water using the packaging technic on my water-colour cardstock.

I cut the cut file on white cardstock as well, and backed it with the beautiful Paige Evans collection named "Truly Grateful" from Pinkpaislee. I carefully stitched the flower with white thread and mounted the centre piece of the flower on adhesive foam for a little extra dimension.

I adhered the cut file on the colourful part of my background to make it stand out.

I put layers of tissue paper, adhesive foam and patterned papers behind my photo and adhered it on the right side of the cut file.

I fussy cut plenty of beautiful flowers and leaves from the Truly Grateful patterned papers and added them to the cut file, and around my photo.

The words of the title are stickers from the same collection.

Finally I wrote down my journaling and added the date !

This page came together easily and quickly, and that's what I like so much about cut files ! Isn't this floral cut file a pure delight ?!

I hope I have inspired you to use it in your own way !

Hello crafty friends !

Sophie here with you today sharing a layout featuring an amazing background cut file from the Just Nick Store called "Mandala Background".

I used a beautiful Pinkfresh Studio collection for my page called "My Favorite Story".

I cut the Mandala Background Cut file on white textured cardstock and removed the upper and left side of it to have a little bit of white space for my title. I added white gesso on my patterned paper under the Mandalas to soften the color underneath them, and added plenty of watercolor splatters on my background paper with a brush. I machine stitched around the cut file with white thread and added adhesive foam on the back of it before adhering it to the background. I love all the dimension it creates !

Finally, I created a few clusters of flowers and embellishments around my photo and on the right upper side of the page, wrote down a little bit of journaling and added the date.

Here are a few close-ups...

I always find that background cut files are a simple and easy way to get you started in creating a page ! Only a few embellishments are needed and you always get amazing results ! Keep in mind that you can always modify, cut, shrink, etc. the cut files to fit your needs !

BEST FURRIENDS LAYOUT | Sophie Delorme June 26, 2020 07:00

Hello crafty friends !

It's Sophie here today and I am sharing a cute layout highlighting the special bond between my little Sabrina and our dog, and I found the PERFECT JustNick Cut file for that !

I used the Cut file named "Paws to my Heart Background" that you can find in the store right here.

I've got so many photos of our dog... that as soon as I saw this in the shop, I new I had to use it !

So I started with a white cardstock background, adding just a few watercolor splatters on it in a rainbow order. I cut the cut file on white cardstock twice, to get a second layer of hearts. I backed the cut file with the beautiful paper no 06 from the Paige Evans Bloom Street collection. Then, I painted my second layer of hearts with watercolor to mimic the rainbow scheme of the patterned paper, and adhered it a little offset from the white hearts underneath. I love the result ! It's like having new embellishments, made out of the cut file..!

I added adhesive foam behind the cut file and sticked it down to my page.

I backed my photo with some tissue paper and a pink layer of another Bloom Street patterned paper and arranged it on the upper left side of the layout.

I embellished my page with other goodies from that same collection, and used a Flutter Phrase Thicker for my title.

Isn't this cut file adorable ?? I am very happy with the end result ! I hope you like it too ! Check out the JustNick store to see more amazing cut files. Trust me, you  will get inspired on the spot !

Here are a ton of close-ups. Feel free to comment or ask any questions !

I wish you all a great crafty day !

Hello everyone ! My name is Sophie Delorme and I am more than thrilled to share my very first layout for JustNick with you today !

I created a page featuring my little girl and our dog Fiona enjoying the early days of spring. I used the gorgeous Cut File called "Loopy Circle Background" for my page, that reminded me of little roses.

I started by applying watercolors on thick white cardstock that matched my color scheme as my base for my page.

I backed the cut file with different lovely patterned papers from the Jen Hadfield "Hey, Hello" collection, and used some goodies from that same collection as well as from the Heidi Swapp Storyline Chapters collection. I added adhesive foam in the back of the cut file before adhering it to ma page.

I fussy cut plenty of flowers from the Jen Hadfield patterned paper called Yellow Roses to embellish ma page.

My title comes from the Heidi Swapp Planner Mini Stocker Book. I wrote down my journaling on little stripes of paper and added the date. I applied a few Nuvo Crystal Drops here and there on my page as the finishing touch !
And here it is ! I love the end-result and hope you do too ! That cut file is so beautiful and easy to use !

Spring Flowers // Sarah Bargo April 3, 2020 21:04

Hey paper peeps TGIF woohoo! Today I want to share with you a fun and simple layout I did using the Doodle Flower Cluster cut file!

One of my favorite parts of spring are the beautiful flowers everywhere, and this cut file reminded me of that! :)

Plus the curly Q's remind me of my niece's adorable pony tail! So cute!

One thing I love about using cut files is how versatile they are! You don't have to be a mixed media artist to use them, just simply lay one on top of some patterned paper and badda bing you have an adorable layout!

I ran a strip of mint green ledger paper through my typewriter first because I love the way typed words look! Then I just laid the cut file over top, super easy peasy!

If you've been feeling a little down lately with all of the weirdness going on or whatever storms you may be going through, just remember, April Showers bring May flowers! xoxo

Thanks so much for stopping by!

XOXO // by Sarah Bargo February 27, 2020 07:00

Hey paper peeps Sarah here! I love February because everything is about love and hearts and all those good things! Just because Valentine's Day is over, doesn't mean we can't scrap about our sweethearts, right? Love never goes out of season :) I created a layout in my travelers notebook about my kitty, Salem. I don't have very much scrapped about him so I better get busy!

I used the darling XOXO located in the "Cupids Arrow" cut files!

This was the most simple layout ever, because all I had to do was cut the xoxoxo out of cute paper, then clip it to my page! So adorable!

Sooo… do you ever feel like someone is watching you?...

One day when I was scrappin, I had that feeling and looked over and saw this creepo starin at me lol! He makes me laugh so much, my little sidekick :)

Do you have a little sidekick that watches you craft? You should definitely do a page about it and use this darling cut file!

Thank you so much for stopping by! xoxo

Love Cards // Sarah Bargo January 24, 2020 07:00

Hey there paper peeps! Well it seems that January is just flyin right on by isn't it?! I would like to get a jump on my handmade Valentine's this year, so I'm here to show you a fun & easy way to make a whole bunch, all at once!

I picked up some cute corrugated hearts at Hobby Lobby in the Valentine's Craft section, it's a pack of red & white hearts! A painted some of the white ones light pink and some mint green, then wiped some white paint over that when it dried, just to soften the color a little bit. Then, I cut a bunch of the "love" word cut file out, a few extra in case I messed up lol!

Then comes the fun part! Find pretty bits & pieces to layer under and around your love word! In this case I used light pink lace pieces, pretty floral ephemera, and of course, sequins!

The possibilities are endless! We all have those pretty scraps left over from other projects, now is the perfect time to use them! No more hoarding lol!

If you're not sure on how to create a heart shaped card base, I kinda created a short cut to use.. just take a white notecard, and layer your heart on top of it with the left side hanging off the folded side a bit. (It's important to leave a piece of the folded edge not cut, because that's going to keep your 2 heart pieces together and make it an actual opening card.) Then just trace and cut! Boom an instant heart card!

I hope you are inspired to create your own lovely happy mail! I can't wait to mail these out!

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Memories | Vicki Parker September 30, 2019 07:00

Hi everyone, it's Vicki here today with my latest layout using the gorgeous Leafy Floral cut file, the Cocoa Vanilla Unforgettable collection and some Shimmerz.

I started by cutting the Leafy Florals which you can find in the store here on white cardstock.

I had the idea to layer it on top of the wreath paper in the unforgettable collection to add lots of dimension. I painted it using some Shimmerz paints in coordinating colours.

I added some Shimmerz behind the photo which is layered on some papers from the collection to extend the colour around the layout.

I used foam pads to lift the cut file off the page to give it prominence and added some further florals and butterflies around the page. I am so happy with how it turned out - I hope it gives you some inspiration. Until next time...

Heart - Leslie Berner February 20, 2019 07:00

Hi scrappy friends! It's Leslie on the blog today. I used the cut file called My Heart

I only use the word "Heart" and copied it unto my page 5 times, staggering them and then welding them together. This is what it looked like in my software.I used plain white smooth card stock.

I decided I wanted to do some backing. and backed three of the "Heart" words with patterned paper from the Paige Evans Whimsical collection. I backed the first, third and fifth word.

The rest went pretty quickly, I fussy cut one of the big floral clusters from one of the other patterned papers from the collections and nestled my photo between the cut file and the floral cluster.

Next, I scattered some of the enamel shapes around the layout and added some small chipboard pieces that fit into the little open spaces. Lastly I splattered some black Heidi Swapp color shine in the top right hand corner and added a roughly drawn border around the edge of the layout.

Here are some close ups.

Here is the final layout...

If you are interested in watching the Process Video for this layout here is a link to my channel, Leslie Berner.

Enjoy!

Fall for you - Johanna Valayer October 23, 2018 07:00

Hello girls,
I'm back today with a TN layout. I wanted to document this photo of my dog and I which was taken when we went for a stroll. I thought that the Maggie Holmes collection Willow lane would be perfect for this and I am pretty happy of how it turned out.
For this layout I used the "Leaf background" cutfile. I knew that I only wanted to use it on one page. As the page with the picture would be simple, I added a paper in the background of my cutfile.
Then, I backed up the leaves with some papers of the willow lane collection and for 2 of them I used a gold glitter paper. As this page was enough busy, I just added a beautiful puffy sticker on the center.

For the other page, I just backed up my photo with some papers and embellished around with some stickers. ( How awesome are the transparent stickers from the Willow lane collection? Really need more of them! )
I added my title and some splatters of gold color shine and that was done!

I hope that you have enjoy, see you soon xx

Adorable Keychains! | Morgan Langley June 26, 2018 07:00

Hey crafty friends! Today I am using the cut files a little bit different and incorporating these wooden beads I found at the Dollar Store to make these adorable keychains or charms or a mini album or scrapbook!

I used the cut files "Spring Doodle Flowers", "Cactus Jack", and some extra hearts from "Hearts 2" that I used in my last mini album project.

I tied a knot at the end of my embroidery floss, strung my beads, decorated my 1 1/2 end circle with the cut files, paper punched holes in the bottom and top of the circle to string it onto the floss, and then tied on the keychain loop or mini binder ring!

You Wonderful Thing - Cathy Martin June 16, 2018 07:00

Hi everyone!  It's June, can you believe it?  I know some kids are already out of school, but here we still have a little ways to go, but that doesn't mean I can't break out all the fun summer colors for a layout!  For this one I decided to use the Love Background file.  I cut it from a phrase patterned paper and then backed the hearts with various patterns.  I also put some yellow ink on my background to make my cut file pop!  I grabbed a ton of different washi tapes and created a border for my layout that helped ground the layout but also give it a ton of pop and pattern!  There was already so much going on that I didn't have to do much in the way of embellishing.  I love the little metal "love" paper clip tucked into the cut file as well.  Just a little extra something to add a fun element!  Thanks so much for stopping by, and have an awesome day!

Accordion Mini Album! | Morgan Langley June 9, 2018 07:00

Happy Girl - Cathy Martin May 25, 2018 08:13

Hi everyone, it's Cathy here and I'm back with another layout!  So on my last blog post I used the Funky Floral Background and I cut it out of white card stock and created a stencil with it.  Now since I used white card stock I didn't want to throw away the floral background, so I kept it, and this week I'm using it as my background file for my layout!

Since it was already sprayed in a rainbow of fun shimmery colors I didn't have too much work to do.  I simply popped it up on foam and picked a funky watercolor inspired striped background.  Since my last layout featured my daughter and I, I used a photo of my husband and daughter this time.  I like the juxtaposition of using the same cut file twice to create layouts with different main subjects.   Of course since there were so many bright fun colors being used it was easy to embellish the layout, and I had no issue using whatever icons I wanted!

Thanks so much for stopping by and taking a look, and I hope I've inspired your creativity.  As always, have an awesome day!

Friendship | Morgan Langley May 22, 2018 07:00

Hey guys! Today I am sharing a layout that is a little different for me! I love watercoloring, but I usually keep it simple with a few splatters here and there. For this one though I cut the different stems from "Stems 2,4, and 5" (three cut files) and water colored away! I did a rainbow of coloring and mixed shades and amounts of water to get the look I wanted. While the paint was still wet I did splatters of darker/lighter colors or just water drips to make the paint spread. I love the way it turned out and it was SO fun and care free!

I added super minimal embellishments with some corresponding sequins, flowers, little birds, ladybugs, snails, etc. Then I used mixed letter stickers to create my title!

Thank you so much for stopping by! Pick up these unique stem cut files yourself and see what you can create! It's always fun to try something new!

Let's Celebrate Mothers - Cathy Martin May 12, 2018 07:00

While I find it easy to take selfies, I find it can be a bit trickier to get a good picture of me with one of my little rugrats, so when I do get a chance I take what I can get!  As much as I love documenting my children's moments, as well as my own, it always makes me smile when I can scrap a picture with us together.  I want them to remember me, and it's important for us moms to sometimes get out from behind the camera and get in those pictures too!

For my layout I decided to cut out the Funky Floral Background cut file.  I cut it out of white cardstock because I wasn't entirely sure what I wanted to do with it, but after it was all cut out I decided to use it as a stencil.  This is another favorite technique and since I cut it with white paper I can still use the cut file on another layout!  I sprayed over it with several different color mists, creating a bit of a rainbow effect.  I'm not much of a rainbow girl, but I was soooooo happy with the end result.  In order to showcase as much of the background as possible I used a large acetate sheet as my title so that you can still see behind it!  For having no ideas when I started I am thrilled with the result!

Thanks so much for stopping by and taking a look-see today!

Thankful for Mom | Morgan Langley May 6, 2018 07:00

Hey crafty friends! Today I am sharing a post for mom's week on the Just Nick blog using the "floral frames" cut file!

I love ALL the beautiful floral cut feels in the shop and all of them make great spring layouts! I started by cutting my frames and backing them with patterned papers from the "Turn the Page" collection. I love how much color this adds. I also watercolored my plain white background before adhering the frames with the packaging technique and some splatters! I tried to match the paint to colors in the collection!

Then for some embossing! I stamped some additional florals and leaves into my frames and embossed with gold glittery powder! I also embossed the "love you" and "thankful for you" sentiments and I love how this turned out!
I fussy cut and added some additional flowers, butterflies, and adorable coffee and tea cups around my floral frame and stuck in a picture of my mom and I now, and when I was little. I created a kind of bottom and top border by using the branding strips of the 6x6 pad and then adding multiple word sentiment stickers.
Thank you for stopping by! Stop by the shop to pick out your own floral cut files and create something for your mom this coming mother's day!

2 Girls & 2 Trikes | Cathy Martin April 28, 2018 08:00

Hi everyone!  I'm excited to be back with another layout for JustNick and this layout is very special to me because it's the first one I have done using pictures from my childhood of my sister and I.  The picture isn't very good quality, since it's a scan from an original photo from the 80's.  Now because the picture isn't the best quality, I had to keep it small, so I needed a big, fun, bold background to take up the rest of the space!  I ended up choosing the Sunburst Circle background cut file, because it reminded me of bicycle tires.  Since the picture was so vintage I decided to go full on vintage with my paper choices and embellishments.  I absolutely adore the final layout, and I hope you like it too!  Thank you so much for stopping by!

Stitched Clouds | Morgan Langley March 21, 2018 07:00

Hey guys! Today I am sharing a layout I created using the "Cloudy Day" cut file!

First I cut my file on card stock, adhered it, backed it with pattern paper from Maggie Holmes "Carousel" collection and then stitched around the clouds! Hand stitching is time consuming, but I love the look it creates!

Then to embellish! I used stickers and pieces from the same collection and added some sequins and buttons. I liked how the kites in this collection coordinating with the airy clouds!

Thank you for stopping by and check out the store for some new spring cut files for all your scrappy projects!

You Make My Heart Smile - Cathy Martin February 25, 2018 07:00

Hey all, it's Cathy and I'm back with another layout to share with you!  This time I decided to use a cut file as a mask and use some spray mist to spray over it.  This isn't really a new or different technique, but it's one that I've used several times before and I love the end results.

So for my layout I used the You Make My Heart Smile cut file.  This file actually comes with several different phrases and I cut 3 of them out, though I only used 2 for my page, but I just tucked the other one aside for another time!  I used a spare piece of cardstock that I had laying around, since I wasn't worried about keeping the file after I had sprayed it, though you could cut if from white cardstock and then keep the altered file for another project, kind of a two for one deal!

Since my spray title took up one side of my layout I used a bunch of patterned paper strips to fill the other side.  I dug into my stash and scraps and used up some older papers that I had been wanting to use for a while.  This was a great way to really use up lots of papers that are just laying around. I didn't need much in the way of embellishments since the title and papers were already so bold!

Thank you so much for stopping by and taking a look, and don't forget to check out the shop for lots of amazing designs!

Tug At My Heart - Cat Martin February 16, 2018 15:45

It's a week of love here on the JustNick blog, and I'm definitely feeling it!  I really wanted to use some older products along with some new products to finally scrap some photos that I have been setting aside for quite awhile!  I used the very cute Heart Strings background cut file, as it was the perfect one for tucking photos in!

I didn't cut it very large, because I wanted to have some room for embellishments, but since I cut it out of navy blue paper it still stands out, and it matches well with the Main Squeeze collection from Crate Paper!  I love how this layout turned out.  It's a Valentines Day layout that is slightly different than usual layouts!

Thank you so much for stopping by, and have an awesome day!

Starburst Layout! | Morgan Langley January 23, 2018 07:00 1 Comment

Hey crafty friends! Today I am sharing a fun layout I created using the "starburst" cut file and a sparkler picture I had from New Years!

I turned the cut file vertical and backed it with papers from Pink Pasilee's "Turn the Page". It was easiest to use the white stars that the cameo cut out as templates for backing, cutting them a little larger and then gluing them behind. I added ephemera from the collection, splatter paints, sequins, and fussy cut stars from the 12x12 pad and the 6x6 pad.

I love these positive speech bubbles from the 6x6 pad and thought they went perfect for this New Year's spread!

Thank you so much for stopping by and make sure to check out this fun cut file on the Just Nick Studios page! Follow me on instagram @morewithmorganl for more layouts!

Love Love Love - Cathy Martin January 12, 2018 07:00

Hey everyone!!!  It's my first layout and blog post for 2018 for JustNick!  I swear, she's going to have to kick me to the curb to get me to leave!  Where I live, it's cold, the wind hurts my face, and there is slush and snow everywhere, so I decided I needed to channel a little sunshine into my page!

I used the Loads of Love cut file, and I cut it out of a pinky-peach ombre paper.  I was originally going to cut it out of white cardstock, but decided to use up some of the neglected  solid papers in my stash.  At this point I had no clue where I was going with it, only that I knew I wanted to put a picture in the largest O.  I used a SnapChat pic of my daughter and I, since I needed a small one, and the quality of the photo wasn't the greatest, so it was better to keep it small.  I then chose various fun patterned papers from my paper scraps stash.  I always love stash busting with Nicole's cut files!

I wasn't sure what background paper to use, but in the end I couldn't resist using the bright and friendly clouds!  My daughter also helped influence my background paper choice.  I only did a minimal amount of embellishing, since the page was already brimming with fun!  I am so happy with how seriously cute this page turned out!

Thanks so much for stopping by, and have an awesome day!

Let it Snow - Cathy Martin December 27, 2017 07:00

Hey everybody!  It's Cathy here and I'm back with a layout inspired by a winter scene.  I used the Frosted Windowpane cut file and created a layout about the lovely calmness of a winter morning.  This cut file is just lovely and I cut it out of white cardstock.  I decided to just back it with one colour of paper, but it could be backed with a multitude of papers as well to create an amazing ombre effect!

Since this cut file goes in the corner of a layout it was easy to figure out how to design my page! I just cut another paper on a diagonal and placed it in the opposite corner.  I also cut out a paper frame to encase my entire layout.  Overall I love the fun and whimsical scene created using this file along with embellishments that emphasized my theme!  Thank you so much for stopping by!

This cut file was SO fun to use! I cut the tags different sizes using a mix of kraft, white, and patterned card stock. Then I backed the cut outs with another scrap of paper and was ready to add some stitching accents!

On some of the tags I used a ruler to mark straight, different sized lines with a pencil and then stitched them, some I stitched around the image, others I stitched snowflakes, and a couple I did some french knot stitches!

I put thread or bakers twine through the hole of each tag and put adhesive so they would stay in position on my layout!

For my background I just sewed on some scraps of Christmas paper with my sewing machine using a mix of white and red threads. I added my photo and some wood snowflakes and Christmas trees and then the layout was complete!

14 Days of Giveaways - Day 7 - Cathy Martin December 7, 2017 07:05 2 Comments

Hi everyone I'm up on the blog today and I'm using this gorgeous Joyful cut file!  Just for today you can get this cut file for free by using the code JOYFREE2  This really is a very lovely cut file, and even though it's part of Nicole's Christmas giveaway I decided to use it for a slightly different layout.  I used it for a winter layout, with a picture that was taken at the end of January.  Even the word Joy can be versatile, and if there is something that I cannot say enough about Nicole's cut files it is that they can be used in soooooo many ways!

For my layout I used a combination of products from the Snow and Cocoa collection as well as the Turn the Page collection.  It might seem like a bit of a strange pairing but there were some overlapping color schemes that helped me bring in more colors than just pink and teal.  I used the offset feature in Silhouette Studio to create an outline for the cut file.  I then used patterned paper to cut out the outline and white paper for the middle.  Propping it all up with foam gave just the right amount of dimension and interest!  I am so happy with the simplicity and sense of wonder and joy that comes across through all the elements.

Thank you for joining me today and I hope you go and grab your free cut file, and don't forget to stop by each day for the next 7 days for more cut files and inspiration!

Small Joys - Cathy Martin November 20, 2017 07:00

Hi everyone!  It's Cathy here and I'm up on the Just Nick blog today with a layout about being grateful for the small joys in life.  Sometimes when everything is getting overwhelming it's nice to take a step back and think about all the small simple things that can be enjoyed.  Whether it's the crisp smell of the cool air, laying down in a beautiful pile of leaves, or wrapping up in your favorite cozy sweater, these little things that sometimes seem so silly can be a huge help in keeping you grounded.

For my layout I chose the Leaf Circle Background cut file.  I loved how it could be interpreted as a leaf, or a petal, or even a feather.  I cut it out of teal cardstock just for a bit of a change-up from my usual white cardstock.  I backed it with paper starting from the center ring and going outwards. so that it was the same paper on each ring all the way around.  I used a mixture of old and new papers to back the cut file and then it was time to decide what to do for a background paper.  Originally I wanted to use a patterned paper, but after trying to decide for over an hour I gave up.  I ended up finding this dark wood grain and I really liked how it paired well with the dark colors in the photo.  To add a little extra detail I painted tiny white dots in acrylic paint around the outer perimeter of the cut file.

For embellishing I primarily used products from the Turn The Page collection.  It paired well with the colors I was using and many of the phrases were perfect for the mood I was trying to set.  I also used some wood veneers to add an earthiness to the layout and I found some older burlap embellishments from the Craft Market collection from Crate Paper to top it off.  I added some Heidi Swapp color shine in two different pinks to break up the large space between clusters.

Thank you so much for stopping by and taking a look at my project today!  I think it's important for us as memory keepers to not only document family and events, but to document our lives and our ups and downs as we go through life!

Colorful Watercolor Polygon! | Morgan Langley November 16, 2017 07:00

Hey crafty friends! Today I am sharing a colorful layout I created using the "Shattered Polygon" cut file! This cut file can be used in so many different ways so it is perfect!
I cut the file from a piece of paper from the "Oh my Heart" Pink Paislee collection and backed it onto a piece of white card stock. Then I used the negatives from the file and cut pieces of paper paper to fill in the polygon.
I wanted to make my background to be fun, so I extended some of the sections into the background by choosing a coordinating color and water coloring an extension of that section going off the page. Once it dried, I went in with that same color and did some splatters for added texture. On the sections I didn't water color in, I added splatters with the coordinating color.
To add even more texture I used some light blue vellum, cut three of the different shapes inside the cut file, added in seed beads and sequins, and then sewed it onto the layout.
I also added some stamping onto different sections of the polygon. I did some different fonts of ampersands, little V's for Violet's name, numbers, and some flowers.
I love how this layout turned out and how colorful it is! Make sure to follow Just Nick and myself @morewithmorganl on Instagram for more crafty posts! Thank you for stopping by!

#Cute | Feather 3 | Michelle Whorwood November 13, 2017 07:00

Hi Just Nick Fans!

Michelle W here today with a new layout with one of the new cut files in store called Feather 3.  This one is a super pretty set of 3 feathers which could be added to lots of different layouts both masculine and feminine.

Here is my layout:

I was initially looking at using this cut file with 3 different photos so I cut all three feathers with white cardstock.  When I was looking for photos to use on my layout, I however, found 2 photos that I really liked so I decided to instead use 2 feather shapes on my page.  You may notice that on the "right hand" feather is actually the middle blank feather on the cut file with the one on the outline feather layered on top.  This works perfectly and adds dimension and texture in a subtle way.

I also really liked the first feather with the 'swirl' shapes which is quite a similar shape to a 'Koru' here in New Zealand.  I don't often use feathers on my scrapbooking pages so I really enjoyed challenging myself to create this one.  I liked the symmetry of having the two photos side by side layered up on both the feathers.  To connect them, I added in some embellishments down the centre of both of my photos and then added in some chevrons that I fussy-cutted out from PinkFresh patterned paper to lead you into the rest of my page and anchor my title.

Here are some close ups:

I hope you have enjoyed my layout I have shared today.  Do you like to use feathers on your pages?

Hey Spidey! - Cathy Martin October 27, 2017 06:00

Hey everyone!  It's almost Halloween!  I love this holiday, and I love the versatility of making layouts for it, because you don't just have to go with traditional colors and icons.  For instance in the layout I created using the Hey Spidey cut file, I went with blues, reds, black and lots of other colors to create a Spiderman themed layout.  I had a 12 x 12 paper that had various comic book panels and I used it to back some of the cut file, as well as a few other papers from my stash.  I didn't over-embellish my layout either, since it really didn't need it, there is already so much going on that a minimal approach worked well.  You could, in fact, use any cut file to create a Halloween themed layout!  Thank you so much for stopping by, and have an awesome day!

Take A Hike - Cathy Martin October 9, 2017 07:00

Hi everyone!  Right now here in Canada it's our Thanksgiving, so it seemed only fitting to do a Fall inspired layout with one of Nicole's amazing Autumnal cut files!  I decided to go with her file Leaf Cluster, which is one of my favorites!!!  I could seriously use this file over and over again and have a different looking layout each time!  I decided to go with some not so traditional fall colours that matched my photos to back my file.  I didn't need to do much in the way of embellishing because the photo and cut file were definitely centre stage!  I am so happy with how sweet this layout turned out, and thank you all so much for stopping by!

Hello Fall! | Morgan Langley October 2, 2017 07:00

Hello crafty friends, Morgan here! I can not believe it is already October! For my layout today I used the "Bare Tree" cut file and made the tree not so bare by using the leaves included in the file and adding them onto my tree!

For my background I added some light pink, yellow, and orange watercolor splatters and cut my leaves from different colored card stock. Some of the leaves have more intricate pieces so I used the "double cut" feature on my Silhouette Cameo to get clean lines. Then I backed them onto white card stock to make them thicker and more durable for stitching. I stitched around them using corresponding thread colors. I love what paper embroidery adds to the layout!

For my photo cluster I used various Dear Lizzy ephemera and some of the cut file leaves that I hadn't yet stitched behind my photo. I also added in some floral pieces I had and a cute flair button with a wood grain background. I love how cute that little bunny piece is and thought it went in nicely!

Thank you for reading! Make sure to check out Just Nick on Instagram to see more fun posts using the fall cut files and follow me on Instagram @morewithmorganl for all my crafty updates! Also make sure to go to the Just Nick store to get some of these beautiful files!

Celebrate This! | Morgan Langley September 21, 2017 07:00

Hey crafty friends! Today I am continuing with our weekly theme of backgrounds! For my layout I used the "Brick Circle Background" and I love how easy it was to work with! This file is so versatile and can be used to document any photo with any collection! I love backing cut files with patterned papers because it makes the page so colorful and fun! For this layout I used Maggie Holmes Carousel collection to do so!
I cut my file on white card stock and then went to cutting the pieces to back it. A trick I have learned with backing cut files is to save the negatives of the file on your cut mat and then use those pieces as a template to cut your patterned paper around (leaving a little extra space for adhering)! Then I can just cut the amount of patterned paper that I need!
Then I embellished! The fun part! I fussy cut some of the florals from the collection and used the chipboard sticker sheet, puffy stickers, and ephemera pack. I love the zebra and bunny carousel pieces! So cute! I added a chipboard "celebrate this" banner sticker for my title.
I loved how this adorable bunny matched the bunny in my photo! I hope you go check out all the fun backgrounds in the Just Nick shop and all the other wonderful blog posts this week! Thank you for stopping by!

Rad Haircut - Cathy Martin September 16, 2017 07:00

Hey everyone!  It's Cathy and I'm back with another layout!  This week we are focusing on word and sentiment cut files and I decided to use one cut file that had several words in it so that I could make my own title!  I chose the cut file All Boy and cut out several of the words and backed the letters in various patterned papers from my stash as well as some 6 x 6 paper pads!  I totally love how cool this layout turned out, and I was able to use up so many paper scraps as well as older embellishments in order to showcase this awesome cut file!

Thank you so much for stopping by to take a look today!  Don't forget to check out my YT channel to see how it all came together, and have an awesome day!

Play Together | Cloud Background 2 | Michelle Whorwood August 30, 2017 07:00

Hi everyone, Michelle here with a new layout to share with you featuring the Cloud Background 2 cut file.  I really like using cloud cut files as they are such fun to use and they are really versatile for all occasions!!   I have used a photograph of my youngest daughter and friends lying down on the grass looking at the sky (or clouds)!  Here is my layout:

One of the things I really like about this particular cut file is that some of the clouds have vertical lines in them for interest and some texture on your page.  I have cut out the file on patterned paper which has subtle pattern on it so it isn't a solid colour but isn't too busy on the page either.  This cut file would look amazing backed with patterned paper too.  But I left mine natural and added some mixed media splatters on my background.

Now I am quite frugal when it comes to my supplies and like to be able to use up the left over pieces from the cut file.  This time, the cut file file produced some cool cloud negative detail.  Instead of using them as traditional clouds, I added three of these layered under my photo and they look like scallops!  This is a fun way of adding more colour but also acts as an anchor point for my photo.

Lastly, I really like how the cut file filled my page but also allowed me to add in some elements in different parts of the cut file.  As you can see below and above I have added several different areas of embellishments clustered at the top, bottom and the sides of my layout.  This design allows interest but also draws your eye into my photo or the focal point of my page.

I hope you have enjoyed my layout today!

Fun Stitched Ink Splats! | Morgan Langley August 24, 2017 07:00

Hey crafty friends! Back to school season is happening and for my layout this week I was inspired by these fun ink splats that just bring me back to elementary school art class! I used all paint chips for this layout which was a super fun challenge!
I cut all my ink splats on white card stock and then backed them with the paint chips. I tried to use bright fun colors! For added texture I went back and stitched with corresponding colors, even switching shades of thread on each ink splat.
I cut fun mixed semi circles with my left over paint chips and then put different colors together with different colored thread behind them to add to the page.
I cut my title on light pink card stock and added some sentiment stickers and gold chipboard glitter stars! This layout was different for me, but I love how it turned out! Thank you for reading and make sure to check out all our back to school posts and cut files!

Live Today - Cathy Martin August 11, 2017 07:00

Hi everyone!  I can't believe we are almost halfway through August!  Where oh where has the summer gone.  Well I know for myself I am still going to be scrapping fun and bright layouts for just a little bit longer before I switch and start focusing on the awesomeness of autumn scrapping.  With that in mind this week is circles week and we are focusing on cut files that are circular.  This, for me, is seriously no problem, I LOVE all of Nicole's circular cut files!

For the layout I created I chose the Floral Ring 3 cut file, and I cut it out in a very primary, bright blue.  Now here is where the challenge is because this colour of blue is not one that I would usually use, but I really wanted to give myself a bit of a challenge as well as get a chance to use up products that would match well with the blue that I chose!

After much hmming and hahing and not being able to make a decision on patterned paper I finally was able to back the cut file and choose a background paper that really went well together.  I used products from Pinkfresh Studio and Pretty Little Studio to finish off the layout!

Thank you all so much for stopping by and don't forget to check out my process video to see how it all came together!  Thanks so much for stopping by and have an awesome day!
