Thankful for Mom | Morgan Langley May 06, 2018 07:00

Hey crafty friends! Today I am sharing a post for mom's week on the Just Nick blog using the "floral frames" cut file!

I love ALL the beautiful floral cut feels in the shop and all of them make great spring layouts! I started by cutting my frames and backing them with patterned papers from the "Turn the Page" collection. I love how much color this adds. I also watercolored my plain white background before adhering the frames with the packaging technique and some splatters! I tried to match the paint to colors in the collection!

Then for some embossing! I stamped some additional florals and leaves into my frames and embossed with gold glittery powder! I also embossed the "love you" and "thankful for you" sentiments and I love how this turned out!
I fussy cut and added some additional flowers, butterflies, and adorable coffee and tea cups around my floral frame and stuck in a picture of my mom and I now, and when I was little. I created a kind of bottom and top border by using the branding strips of the 6x6 pad and then adding multiple word sentiment stickers.
Thank you for stopping by! Stop by the shop to pick out your own floral cut files and create something for your mom this coming mother's day!

Hello JustNick friends!

We are celebrating all things "backgrounds" this week on the blog, which happen to be my favorite cut files to use. One background can have so many variations and be used in countless ways.

For this project, I using the Under the Cherry Tree Background file with the Webster's Pages My Happy Place collection.

As usual, I wasn't quite sure what I wanted to do with the file but knew I wanted to use it. After I cut it out using white card stock, I decided to remove the frame around the branches so the limbs are more fluid with the paper. Next, I used watercolors to paint the branches to match the colors they were laying on.

I loved the way the paper curled after it was painted, so I only tacked the branches down in a few places with glue.

The photo was printed in black and white and matted on a neutral-toned patterned paper. The pink flowers were fussy cut from another piece of patterned paper.

Last was the Thickers title and hearts to match. I kept the embellishments simple so they did not detract from the painted branches.

Thank you so much for stopping by today, and I hope you are inspired to create! Please visit the JustNick Store for this and many other fabulous files.
