Hello hello hello it's Cathy here and I'm back with another layout! I don't know about you but even though it's still bitterly cold and gloomy in my region of the world I can't help but long for the beautiful colours of spring! For my layout today I was inspired by all the fun and colourful scraps that I have in my stash. Some are relatively new and some are from years ago, but either way I loved combining them together to make this fun image! I used the Rosette Background 2, and originally I was using it as intended, as flowers, but once I was all done backing it I really loved how much it looked like wonky bubbles, so I decided to document my daughter's bubble blowing adventure last spring. Backing the cut file with multiple papers was a wee bit time consuming, but I just love the end result! Thanks so much for stopping by and if you go to my Youtube channel you can check out how I made my layout!

Hey everybody it's Cathy here, back with another layout for JustNick Studio and Scrapbook Circle! The Scrapbook Circle kit for March was loaded with bright colours and funky designs. I really wanted to showcase all of those fun papers and colours so I chose the dreamcatcher background 1. There were lots of awesome spaces to back with papers! I used a small star stamp to create a fun pattern around where my cut file would rest and then popped my file up on some foam for added dimension. Since all the products worked so perfectly together embellishing was a piece of cake! A big thank you to Nicole and Scrapbook Circle for this awesome team up!

I used the cute Pink Paislee 'Pen Pals' collection to create this layout, one of my favourite things to do is to back cut files with all different patterned papers, this range was ideal to do this!
The cut file that I used on this layout is the Cross My Heart Background cut file found in the Just Nick store. I cut it from white cardstock and backed different patterned papers behind it. Once I had all the papers backed, I used some foam/3D tape to adhere the cut file to the background paper. I really like the dimension and shadow effect it gives to my page.
I scrapped a photo from last year of my 2 handsome sons! They are mostly best friends! As an added effect, I used some foam Thickers for my title and to embellish further!
One of the Pen Pals chipboard frames was a perfect addition to frame my photo and draw the eye in! Puffy stickers and chipboard stickers are great embellishments to enhance layouts.

Let's Celebrate and XOXO Cards November 18, 2016 07:00
Michelle here with two cards to share with you for card week! I must admit I have only just really started making cards and don't make too many of them. I am trying to make time to make more as they are so handy to have.
My first card I created was a birthday card. I combined two cut files - I created my own doily from the Doilies cut file set as I love using doilies on my cards and layouts. This file is great as it gives you four different options to choose from which makes it great value for money. I then cut out the 'celebrate' from the Birthday Sentiments cut file set and added this to my card as well.
A close up:
For my second card I have created a more generic card for a non-specific occasion which is great to have on hand for when you need a card. I used the Stack Em Up Background file first cut on white cardstock with some patterned paper layered underneath it. I also cut out a Dahlia Flower and when I added it to my card and layered on some embellishments it started to look a bit dream catcher like so I added some feather embellishments dangling at the bottom. I added the XOXO sentiment which really makes it a versatile card for lots of different occasions from birthdays to general thank you cards.

Thanks for stopping by the blog today - I hope you have enjoyed seeing all our cards this week.
Make A Splash | Stuck Sketches | Michelle Whorwood September 21, 2016 07:00 2 Comments
Hi Everyone, Michelle here with a layout to share as part of the Stuck Sketches collaboration. I really couldn't wait to do a multi-photo layout of our recent holiday to Fiji and the sketch Laura designed was a perfect one for it !!
I couldn't resist adding my photos on the angle and the rest of my layout flowed from there. I had been eyeing up the fabulous Summer Fun and Summer Lovin' cut files and enjoyed using the icons from the Summer Fun set as embellishments on my page - there are lots of elements that are perfect for beachy photos in this set. I then created my title 'Make A Splash' from the Summer Lovin' cut file set. Don't be afraid to split up the cut files to make them work on your layouts as I have done on my title here to frame my bottom photo.
Some close ups:
Thanks so much for stopping by the Just Nick blog today! I hope you play along with this sketch as there is an opportunity to win a $25 store voucher to the cut file store!!
Enjoy the Little Things September 05, 2016 07:26
Hi everyone it's Cathy and I'm back with another layout! This time I'm clocking in with a whopping 3 cut files on one layout! I started by using the Funky Piechart cut file and the Live Simply cut file. I resized them so that I would have circles of various sizes to create a fun playful effect on my page. I backed my cut files with scraps that were just hanging around in my craft room, keeping in mind the colours in the photo. I decided to go with a white on white look so I used white cardstock for my background as well. With so many bold circles going on I didn't really need to do much embellishing so I only used a few chipboard stickers to create a little cluster. I also used a cut file for my title and decided to cut it in a bold red paper. When I cut a shape or image like the title, that has lots of thin parts I like to use either a solid paper or a very subtle, small pattern so that I don't lose the readability of my title. I propped my circles up on foam and then added some black mist and my layout was complete! Thanks so much for stopping by and taking a look!
Thanks so much for stopping by and be sure to check out my YouTube channel for my process video for this layout!
Let's Go Play - JustNick & Jillibean Soup Team Up! August 26, 2016 07:00 5 Comments
Hey everyone it's Cathy here and I'm back with another layout, this time using the amazing JustNick Studio cut files and products from Jillibean Soup!
I love this team up and had so much fun creating a cute layout using the Jillibean Soup Mushroom Medley collection and the Scallop cut file! The Mushroom Medley collection has so many cute and fun elements, it's perfect for outdoor layouts, seasonal layouts, or any type of layout actually! I loved the masculine colours in the collection and I decided I back one of Nicole's cut files with as many patterned papers as I could!
I used a fun picture of my youngest as I found it really matched well with the collection. I scoured over all the cut files in the shop and I eventually decided I wanted to do a scallop background. I know many would consider scallops to be a bit girly but I loved how they added a feeling of motion to the layout, and since that was what I was trying to get across they went perfectly! I also have a process video so don't forget to check that out to see how I made my layout!
Oh and be sure to leave a comment on this post for a chance to win! Feel free to leave comments on the Jillibean Soup blog as well!
No Rain No Rainbows August 09, 2016 05:46
Hey everyone, it's Cathy, and I'm back with another layout! This time I decided to use two cut files for my layout, the first one is No Rain No Rainbows, and the second is the Confetti background. I wanted to created a rainfall effect on my background and the Confetti background did the job perfectly! I backed the cut file with a piece of multi-colour paper and I really love the effect. It almost looks like a shower of jellybeans! For my title I used the Rainbow cut file and painted it a variety of colours using my watercolours. I then added white and black splatters and outlined the file to really make it pop off the page! I kept the embellishments minimal since I didn't want to compete with my awesome title and rain effect! I love how bright and cheery this layout turned out and I am super excited to see what other cut file combinations I can come up with using the Just Nick files! Have an awesome day!
Here are the cut files used for this project!

Happy Saturday! I'm so excited to be reintroducing myself as a member of the current Just Nick design team. It's no secret that I love Nicole's cut files and am thrilled to get to work with them again in this capacity. Thanks for having me! Nicole has got some awesome new designs lined up for you and I just know this current batch of designers will be inspiring you like crazy. So prepare your pocketbooks!
I don't always scrapbook 'about me', so having an assignment to do just that is always a welcome creative push.
I started my page with a selfie (of course!) and a pretty new pile of Photo Play papers. When I have a stack of patterns that I want to include on my project, I always scan my background cut files first, knowing that they often include a good framework for using multiple papers and designs.
I quickly decided upon the Pinwheel Background, knowing I'd want to customize it a bit to fit my page elements.
As you can see, when you purchase the background the pinwheel shapes are all evenly sized and distributed throughout. It was quick and easy to ungroup the file and move and resize the pinwheels to my liking - leaving ample space for my journaling, photo and page title.
Once the design was cut, I had fun backing each pinwheel with an assortment of pretty papers.
The centers of the pinwheels were just begging to be embellished. A combination of buttons, sequins, stickers and epoxy dots dressed them up nicely.
I also found that the straight lines of the pinwheel 'petals' made a nice home for some stamped sentiments and phrases. Stitching around a few of the petals adds nice texture and interest.
Before I sign off for today, here's a little bit about me, in case you are new to the Just Nick blog and/or my designs:
I'm a mom to three great kiddos and have been married to my husband for 15 years. I've lived in Ohio all of my life and currently reside just outside of Cincinnati. I have a degree in accounting and before becoming a stay at home mom, worked for several years at an international accounting firm. I've been scrapbooking since 1999, and while I've dabbled in other hobbies during that time, I still haven't lost my intial love and excitement for it. I would describe my papercrafting style as clean and linear but embellished. I love to experiment with and customize cut files and always, always include journaling on my pages.
Thanks for letting me share! I'm looking forward to sharing lots of fun projects with you in the coming months!
All About Me Michelle Whorwood July 09, 2016 07:00
I'm super super super excited to be joining the Just Nick Studio Design Team. I have been using cut files for awhile now and I just love how they add extra dimension to my layouts and that there are a such a variety of different ways you can include them in scrapbooking.
I am a stay at home mum to 3 gorgeous kids, Liam aged 12, Taylor Grace who is 5 and Aimee Rose who is 4 and I live just north of Auckland in New Zealand with my hubby Gary. I have been scrapbooking for almost 10 years now and started when my eldest was about 2. Being creative and recording our memories keeps me sane and if I go too long without creating a layout then I get really grumpy! You only need to ask my kids what is my favourite thing to do and they will respond 'Scrapbooking'. I'm super lucky I get to spend some of the time when my kids are at school and kindergarten to spend time creating and of course SHOPPING for new gorgeous supplies too. When I am not scrapbooking I enjoy spending time with my young family and hubby - we go to our caravan at the beach in the summer and we have holidays to Fiji coming up soon as I hate the cold winter here in NZ. I share my scrapbooking layouts on my blog here and also on instagram here
Here is my first layout:
I used the Let it Shine Background cut file as my background and cut this out on patterned paper and then added a white cardstock circle with Right Now on it as it fitted the selfies I took of myself a couple of weeks ago and I liked how it created a centre piece on my layout.

Thanks so much for stopping by the blog today - I am looking forward to sharing more of my layouts with the Just Nick cut files.
Have a good one!
Me, Myself & I July 07, 2016 07:00
I am thrilled to be returning to the JustNick Studio design team. I absolutely LOVE working with Nicole's cut files. Thanks for having me back!
I love using quilt-inspired designs on my projects so my first instinct when I saw the new July files was to use the Quilted Background.
This layout you see here was not my original plan. Let me walk you through the thought process of how one thing led to another...
I decided that I wanted to use the file to piece together a background, instead of cutting it out of one piece and using it as an overlay so I cut 4"x4" squares and placed them next to each other across and down the CAMEO mat. I cut each piece out and as I was pulling it all off the mat, I was really digging the leftover 4"x4" pieces so, onto the paper they went. I kept the other pieces and I am sure you'll be seeing them on another layout VERY soon.
Next, I laid the squares down, overlapping each other and angled just a bit. The rest was easy - I added some layers behind and above my photo, added embellishments and mist splatters and then added my title.
About me: I was born and raised in the Lone Star State and live in Cypress, Texas with my family – hubby, 2 daughters, 1 bonus son, and 2 rescue dogs. I lead marketing and thought leadership initiatives for a major tech company but my real passion is playing with paper, glue and scissors. I love to scrap the daily adventures of my family and I aim to capture the essence of whatever it is they are doing. It’s those little details that I love! My signature style includes lots of pattern mixing, matching, and layering in fun and interesting ways. I also design for Shimelle.com and Gossamer Blue.
Live Simply July 06, 2016 07:00
Hi everyone, it's Cathy here and I am so excited to be joining the Just Nick design team!!! Here is just a little bit about me! I live in Prince Edward Island Canada and I am a mom of 3. I have studied graphic design, illustration and animation. I love having a million projects on the go and feel the need to do something creative everyday! I am currently employed as a florist and I love getting to go to work everyday and just play! For me, I use scrapbooking as not only a way to document my families memories, but as a way to incorporate my love of all things art, and to help with my depression. As someone who has battled with mental illness all their life I have used my creativity as a way to stay positive and keep my spirits up! I am currently learning to embrace the life I have and the words in the cut file I used really inspired me!
I am also very eager to dive in and start being inspired by her wonderful cut files! My first project is a page all about me. For this layout I chose the Live Simply cut file. It echoed what I wanted to say so much that I didn't even bother to journal since the cut file really did the speaking for me!
I absolutely love this cut file and I really love the contrast of cutting it in black and keeping everything else very minimal and light. It really helped my title stand out and speak for itself and I love how well my picture nestled in the words.
Oh and I also made a process video for this layout, so be sure to visit my Youtube channel to see how I made this simple and personal layout!
I am a storyteller July 05, 2016 07:00
It's Donna here and I am thankful I am given another term to be one on the Just Nick Studio design team.
I am from the Philippines but currently living in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia with my husband and darling daughter. I am a Computer Engineer by profession but I chose to be a stay-at-home wife and mommy. Although I am hoping to join the work force again in the near future.
I love anything crafty so I also dabble in digital scrapbooking. You can check out about my me on my blog here.
Here is my new intro page. I used an old Maggie Holmes collection for my page. I've been organizing and purging my stuff lately and I made it a point to use them.
The cut file I used on my page is the Doodle flower background 2
I cut them apart so I can place them where I wanted them. I love that the floral cutfile complimented the clusters of emebellishments
I simply layered some messy thread and floral ephemera around my photo
and on the bottom part design of the page as well

Thanks for dropping by. So excited to be here again!
Superfecta of Cut Files June 07, 2016 07:00
Hey there Just Nick fans! Suzanna here today to share my latest project with you. This week, Nicole has challenged a few of us on the design team to use four or more of the Just Nick digital cut files on our projects! That's quite the superfecta!! It was a challenge for me but I did just that!
To create the above layout, I used the following 4 digital cut files from Just Nick;
This was a bit of a challenge for me as I like the elements on my layouts to have purpose or meaning. There needs to be some relevance to the story, not just elements thrown on there for the sake of having more. Each of the 4 (or more) cut files needed to be on the layout for a reason.
The Let It Shine Background and the "innards" of Radiate combined to make the sun - easy, no problem there. The new font, Script Font, I used a sketch pen with then cut out the outline of the file with my Silhouette for the title. Then the "today" file folder from the File Folders collection served well as a tie in. As the file is cut from a multi colored patterned paper, it served well to tie the multiple elements and colors together.
I love how the title "sunshine" turned out using a sketch pen and then digitally cutting that file! It took a bit of manipulating to get the individual letters to weld but fortunately Nicole leaves lots of "extra" on the letters. This additional swoosh, allows you to either cut or overlap the swoosh of the letters to create a symmetrical word. I can't wait to do this again and use my watercolors or Gelatos within the pen outline!
Today I challenge you to create a layout using 4 or more Just Nick digital cut files on your next project! Thanks for stopping in today!
Hey Cool Kids February 23, 2016 07:00 1 Comment
As soon as I saw the awesome Pinwheel background cut file I just knew I wanted to team it with the Fancy Pants Designs 'Be Different' collection! That 'Rawr' flair is the inspiration behind this layout!
My 2 boys are my world, they are the subject of most of my layouts! My eldest received a selfie stick and so this photo is the result of the two of them having some fun using it to take selfies!
The other super cool cut file I used was the All Boy set, I cut the word Cool with some patterned paper and cut the star with black cardstock.
I am loving long titles where I can use many different alphas at the moment...it really makes a great impact on your layout!

14 Days of Holidays - Giveaway Day 5 December 07, 2015 07:00 3 Comments
Welcome to Day 5 of our 14 Days of Holidays cut file giveaways! Each weekday from December 1-18, 2015 we will be giving away a FREE cut file for that day only!
Todays free cut file is Holiday Sentiments.
I absolutely love the free cut file that is available for you today and, I think you will love it too! It's a doozy packed with some lovely sentiments. These are so perfect for cards but, I can picture them being used on just about any holiday project.
Fun, right??? The fonts are just so perfect. I created two cards and a gift tag using several of these sentiments. They are so easy to size and cut out to fit perfect on each project.
This first card is a standard A2 card.
How cheery is that? I did a watercolor wash on the base and added some paint drips. Then, using some fun sparkly red cardstock, I cut out the merry&bright sentiment rather large. With some snowflake sticker embellishing, this card will hopefully brighten up someone's holiday!
The second card I made is a 6x6 size. Every once in awhile I like to create one of these. I use the larger size for cards that will be signed by more than one person or to have room to add photos or a letter. This time, I wanted to use more than one word. I chose three that seem to go nicely together - joy, peace, noel.
To create a fun and interesting backdrop, I splattered some red watercolor and used the scribbles 1 cut file.
Finally, because I was just having too much fun AND I was figuring out what to do with the last of my 12x12 piece of cardstock, I created this gift tag.
I cut out the 'joy' to fit large. I like the look of words and images going off the canvas of the page. The background is a watercolor wash.

Hello JustNick friends!
Welcome to Day 2 of our 14 Days of Holidays cut file giveaways! Each weekday from December 1-18, 2015 we will be giving away a FREE cut file for that day only!
Today's Free Cut File is Ornaments
Christine joining you today with some shaped cards that I made using this file! I love making shaped cards and these worked perfectly for that!
I made one card with each ornament shape available! I love that there are four fun options! In case you are wondering how I made them into cards here's a little detail into that:
First off I rotated the ornament so that it was upside down. I then chose to create a mirror image below it. This makes it so that I now have two of the ornaments. I then put the hook part of the ornaments close enough together that they are slightly overlapping and weld them together. You could also do this and mirror the ornament to the side and weld sides together instead of the hook. Either way you end up with a really cute card! If you have questions I am happy to help explain further!
Now on to a little detail about each card and some of the additional cuts that I used! First up is the Merry Christmas Card.
For every card I stuck with a similar base start. I had a white ornament and backed it with red patterned papers. I then added a silver metallic paper for the top part of the ornament and added some silver stickles and silver gemstones. I also cut all my sentiments in green. Doing these things helped simplify the process a bit. I then added some stickers or die cuts to each card to fit the personality of the cut. For this one I added the Merry Wishes file for my sentiment. I like how it is open and airy just like the original file itself.
I'm a sucker for stars and adding a peace sentiment to this from the Holiday Sentiments just seemed right for a night scene.
A santa hat tops off the word "joy" which also comes from the Holiday Sentiments set.
Last up is a Be Merry card with a sentiment from the Merry Wishes set. We can't wait to see how you are adding JustNick cut files to your Holiday projects too!
