JustNick Cut File Store

Life is Amazing. June 03, 2016 07:00

Isn't life amazing?  I saw this cut in the store and knew I had to use it with a specific picture I had of my cute niece feeding a ground squirrel.  What this picture doesn't show is just how "popular" she was with her pickle sunflower seeds!  This squirrel was the boss!  Letting ALL the others know-these were HIS seeds! ;)

I always seem to cut all my cuts in white so that I can add color if I would like.  For my background cut I used an altered version of the new Shattered Polygon:

and for my title I used Life is Amazing, there are layers for this wonderful cut, I decided to use one and paint it with my water color:

I just love when you create a layout that makes me happy--don't you?

We are Family May 06, 2016 07:00

Hello Diana here today and I wanted to share a Mother inspired layout.  I LOVE being a mom--there are definitely days that are better than others, but there sure are some FUN adventures!  A few years ago there was a special activity for women and girls at our church.  They had a photographer there to document the special day--LOVE that I have this momento!  Our family is a bit special in that my mom is an only girl, I am an only girl, and my daughter is an only girl...

On this layout I used 3 different cuts on this layout:

Delicate Flowers

Dream Catcher 1 (coming May 7)

Home Sweet Home

I honestly had a lot of fun mixing papers and backing the cuts with pattern paper!  We would love to see any creation using our cuts!  Please feel free to share them on our Facebook page.  Also, if you share them on Instagram make sure to tag us with @justnickstudio.

greetings! April 27, 2016 07:00 1 Comment

Hello Diana here today...  Oh, how I LOVE to make cards!  I was super excited to see that Nicole added some super cute and FUN cut files for cards.  The cards I made were super simple and QUICK:

The new cut file I used is called Card Sentiments 3:

For each greeting I sized the cut to 3.75"x 5",  and cut them out of kraft card stock.  I then painted each greeting with water color, backed it with fun pattern paper and embellished finally adhering to a card base.  Think it took me like 30 minutes tops--SUPER quick for me!  (it also helps when you have a vision of where you want to go!)

Here is each card up close:

memories. January 19, 2016 07:00

I have to admit I LOVE using more than one cut on my pages, I look for combinations that will give interest without distraction.  I used 4 different cuts on this layout:

I found this fun picture of my brother and from back in July--I don't get very many pics with him so this was the perfect opportunity to scrap a fun memory.  For the background I used the Starburst background and cut it in half.  The other three cuts I used were:

word 3

2016

months script

If you look closely some of my cuts were cut with white cardstock, some with cream, and another I sprayed with mist.  LOVE how it all came together!

It's Diana Waite ! January 08, 2016 07:00

Diana is back for another term on our DT, help me welcome back Diana Waite!

My name is Diana Waite and I LOVE to create with paper and my silhouette. I really enjoy challenging myself to use new techniques and use up my stash!  I’m genuinely a happy person, I get excited about the simplest things in life (good shopping find, goal accomplished, new haircut, etc.) if you are looking for someone to do a happy dance with you, I’m your gal!  I’ve been married to my best friend Matt for 19 years.  Together we have 3 very active kiddos, you can usually find me at one of their sporting events yelling and taking pictures, sometimes at the SAME time!  We also have two doggies; Dakota a 141/2 year old miniature schnauzer, and Ella a 6 1/2 year old Vizsla.  When not paper crafting I enjoy being at my kid’s sporting events, riding bikes, hiking, experimenting with Pinterest recipes, playing board games, sometimes sleeping, reading, family history research, and going to the gym.  I am super excited to continue with Nicole and JustNick Studios!

Check out this cool about me page that Diana created with some of our cut files:

holiday tags. December 22, 2015 07:00

Hello, Diana here!  Holiday season is in full swing with all the excitement and busyness that goes with it!  I challenged myself creating fun tags using both older and brand new cuts from the JustNick store!

The cool thing about these tags is that not only can they work for gifts but also be used as ornaments on your tree!  Here are the different tags I created closeup:

The cuts that I used were:

Scallop flowers

Joy Background

Holiday Words

Holiday Cards 1

and a sneak peak at Snowflakes coming December 26.

As you can see cuts can be manipulated (such as the background cut) to a different shape.  In that case from square to rectangle and smaller. (from 12x12 to 3x4).  I am looking forward to giving these little tags away--they are little projects made with a lot of love!

Reindeer Day 8--14 Days of Holidays December 10, 2015 07:00

Welcome to Day 8 of our 14 Days of Holidays cut file giveaways! Each weekday from December 1-18, 2015 we will be giving away a FREE cut file for that day only!

Diana here and I am SO excited to share with you the free cut for today Reindeer!  I decided to make a home decor item with this cut:

For my creation I used:

1. Jillibean Soup Wood Plank mix the media

2. Red glitter paper (this can be a bear to cut so make sure that you set it to glitter paper and cut it twice! I also learned that if your paper or product you are cutting isn't cut all the way through there is a trick!  Don't pull your cut all the way out of the machine, you can test it by seeing if it will lift up off of the mat.  It it doesn't then you can send it through the machine again.  If you unload it all the way the lines won't line up correctly....)

3. Pop dots--I was very generous with my pop dots.  One reason was that I wanted my cut to stand up and not be pushed in.  The other reason is that pop dots are SUPER sticky and I wanted it not to fall off of the wood.  I can tell you this is really on there well!

4. I wanted my image to take up most of the front of the wood so I measured it just smaller-I made him a little wider as well.  I REALLY love this simple creation!

REMEMBER this cut is only FREE today so go to the shop and in the coupon code enter: DEERFREE

This code is only valid until midnight CST on December 10, 2015.

No purchase necessary.

Design will be available in the JustNick store for purchase after the discount code expires.

remember. November 12, 2015 07:00

hello, Diana here.  I love the word Remember--it's powerful.  When helping people to remember something, I don't use the phrase "don't forget" I say "please remember".  We usually when receiving instructions here the last word someone says and apply it.

I loved using the Remember word from the Remember cut file.  I went to town on adding more embellishments with feather cuts from the Sweater Weather file; hearts from the Basic Hearts cut file; a doilies from the Doilies cut file, and finally a simple border under the picture with the Simple Scallop file.

The story behind this picture is it is the last one we took formally 6 years ago!  I know SO sad, this year we are going to do it again!  This opportunity was very fun with one of our favorite people as the photographer.

This is Awesome. October 01, 2015 07:00

Hello, Diana here to share with you a masculine layout.  This is my son who plays Lacrosse.  These pictures were taken during last year's season--I love that I can capture him doing the thing he LOVES.

On my layout  I used 3 different cuts:

Retro Square Background, which I resized, so it's more like rectangles than squares;

Arrow Set 1 in the title work;

All boy for my title and embellishments.

here is a closeup of my personal challenge to use cuts to create a title:

golden scholar. September 21, 2015 07:00

Hello--Diana here today talking to you about some of the backgrounds found in the shop!  I REALLY love to use backgrounds--think they are my favorite, not only can they be a background for layouts but also cards.  When you resize they can also be an embellishment.  Today on my layout I have two layouts featured:

I used the Simple Circles background and simple circle background 2.

I took each background and sized them up to 11.75" x 11.75" and they stacked perfectly one on top of each other.  PRETTY cool huh?  If you changed the paper up a bit it would give it a totally different look.  If you try this technique or any of our other cuts please feel free to share them on our Facebook page or tag us on @justnickstudio on Instagram!

The Beginning. September 10, 2015 07:00

Diana here and I wanted to share about my back to school page, The Beginning (as in the beginning of the school year).  I have a confession, I LOVE background cuts!  I think that is my weakness.

The particular cut I used is the Geometric Background:

I wanted to challenge myself in a couple of ways.  First I wanted to resize the cut to 8 1/2" x 11"--super easy to resize that in my silhouette software.  The second challenge was that I wanted to use several different pieces of pattern paper to back my cut.  I started with a solid sheet of cardstock to give my creations some stability.  I then used the pieces that were cut from the background as templates.  I made sure that the pattern paper was "facing" up.  So that it was not backwards.  I then traces and cut just larger than the trace mark so that there was an edge to glue on the backside of my cut out.  After I cut each piece I glued it right to the back of my paper so I wouldn't lose it.  The papers I selected were from a 6 x 6 paper pad, and I really didn't plan where they were going to go I just went with the flow. I really like the affect!

Here are some close ups:

Love! August 19, 2015 07:00

Hello JustNick friends!

Diana here today to share with you a fun layout I made using the Doodle frames digital cut:

I fell in love with the frame on the left.  I began by cutting it in all different sizes and colors—I wanted to have something to “play” with!  After a few different attempts I decided I would like to frame a frame with two different colors of cardstock:
I really liked cutting the border larger as there was more edge to it, my personal preference.  After I glued my cuts down with liquid adhesive I let them dry and then bent the edges up to give it added texture.  Here is a closeup of what it looks like:
This is such a fun cut to work with!  Hope there was some inspiration for you—we would love to see your creations using the JustNick digital cut files please feel free to share on the Just Nick Facebook page or tag Just Nick on Instagram so we can see!

Best Day Ever. June 19, 2015 07:00

Hello and welcome to the JustNick blog!  This is Diana and I am pretty excited to share my layout this week.  I SO enjoy including several cuts on one page, it's like more bang for your buck--bonus it helps me to be CREATIVE.  For this page I was able to use 2 and the inner part of another:

This particular layout was based on one of the BEST sweet 16 parties I've seen.  I was invited to take pictures and got permission to share a FEW!  This party was SO amazing, they played the dating game (like from the 70's).  The questions were thought up by the mom of the girl and these boys were invited secretly--she had NO idea who she was interviewing, their voices were dubbed by the live DJ! (they of course were all her friends but one was sort of a CRUSH!)  Anyway, the "winner" of the game was going to be her first date (funds provided by her parents).  So for this beautiful girl it really was one of the BEST days EVER!  That being said I really like the mixed lettering in the but file Best Day ever cut--SO cute!!

I wanted to share a tip that I like to do with pretty much ALL of my cuts--I cut them out in white then I go back and color them with mist, chalk, or gelatos.  Here is a close up of the title and the border from Borders 1:

The blue circles are actually the center of one of the other borders in the collection--I don't like to let things (cuts) go to waste!  I painted them with blue mist let them dry and then popped them up with a pop dot!

I hope you enjoyed my project today, looking forward to sharing more with you in the future.  Please make sure to visit the JustNick cut file store, Nicole adds new cuts EACH week!  Also, make sure to visit our Facebook page to view more fantastic content!
