JustNick Cut File Store

Darling | Jaclyn Rench March 01, 2017 07:00

Hi Just Nick friends, it's Jaclyn here!  This week the design team is focusing on backgrounds.  I made a fun, colorful and spring inspired page using the Doily Background cut file, an old favorite of mine, for sure!

This background file could certaintly be sized down to take up less real estate on a page, but I love the statement it makes when it's big and bold!  I chose to size my cut file to fill most of the width of my 8.5"X11" page and placed it in the top upper left corner.  Doing so, allows the florals to cascade down the page and allows your eye to land and rest on the page focal point - the photo!

I reached for my pile of patterned paper scraps to fill in the negative space of the doily design.  Each 'flower' has a dark, patterned center, lighter petals and a coordinating buttons sewn on top.

I used a strip of patterned paper along the bottom border of the page that ties in all of the colors used to back the doilies.

I hope you'll share with us the creative ways you're using Just Nick backgrounds on your projects.  Hashtag your creations #jusnickstudio so we can find them!

Me by Tarrah McLean July 13, 2016 07:00

Hi everyone!

Tarrah here with you today! I am super excited to be staying on the Just Nick team for another term! Huge thanks to Nicole for having me on the team once again! I absolutely LOVE cut files and include them on 90% of my layouts!

We were all asked to create a layout about ourselves...I recently changed my profile picture on Facebook to one of my favourite photos of myself (there aren't too many of those I can assure you ;)) so I decided to print it out and use that one for my page.

I'm not normally a flower person if you know me and my style but I had that gorgeous Illustrated Faith 'She Blooms' paper left over from my May Hip Kit and decided the Doily Background cut file would work perfectly with the paper! I cut it out with my Cameo and turned it around until I was happy with how it looked on my layout!

I added lots of different types of embellishments like, chipboard, wood veneer, puffy stickers, flair and enamel dots to help the cut file pop off the page and by using a black and white photo it makes the colour pop too!

Thanks so much for joining me on the Just Nick blog today!

Happy creating!
