JustNick Cut File Store

Hello, my love April 17, 2017 07:48

Hello!

Donna here sharing a layout using one of the newest cut files in the Just Nick Studio store.

I missed a post last time because my computer broke and the Silhouette studio software kept on crashing on hubby's computer. But I finally got my computer and Silhouette running!!! And hubby got me a new printer too!! I have to figure out how to set it up first but I am excited!

Now onto my layout. I used this beautiful Butterfly background 2 cut file and added color to it using Prima Marketing Inc watercolors

I created a border around the white cardstock by cutting different lengths and widths of paper strips from my Clique Kits April "Jellybean" kit.

To create a unified look, I chose colors similar from the strips of papers. I only adhered the middle part of the butterfly cut file and lifted the wings for a bit of height

I brushed black watercolor to the alpha stickers to make it stand out against the colorful background.

Then I clustered the hearts around the layers of photo and messy thread

That's all from me today, I hope you liked my project!

Happy crafting,

Me & You March 15, 2017 07:00

Hello! Donna here for my first layout the month of March.

I used the cut file Posie Swag on my layout

I deconstructed the cut file again. You will notice I do this a lot of times! For this particular design, I envisioned flowers/vines kind of hanging either at the top or the edges of the layout.

I played around for a bit and decided to place the cut files as seen in the image

I wanted to make them appear like they're floating so I thought that keeping it white, as is, would work. Adding colors to the cut file was the last thing I did. Well, sort of second to the last thing, because the very last step to my process was slightly brushing pale peach watercolor to the edges of the white background to add a bit of interest aka make it a bit messy lol!

I was aiming for a peachy color for the flowers but I couldn't achieve the right shade. I still like how it turned out.

I used Pretty Little Studio's Woodland collection.

I hope you liked my page!

Thank you for dropping by and happy crafting,

Hello love, XOXO February 08, 2017 11:50

Hello!!
Donna here and I'm gonna be sharing my first layout for the month of February... didn't we just say hello to 2017?? Wow.. time flies surely fast.

For my page, I went to use the remaining set of photos I printed recently for a previous project (as in the last one I posted for Just Nick as well lol!). I didn't want the photos go to waste, so why not make another layout :)

I used the negative of the white cardstock as you can see here. Different patterned paper  underneath made the cuts stand out. To make it more visible, I used a black pen to write inside the cut outs.

I cut the edges of the white cardstock approximately half an inch and used another paper as a mat or base to the whole layout.

I used one of the past Clique kits I have and some other Crate paper and Maggie Holmes in my stash

Cut file used: Love Actually

Thanks for dropping by!

Happy crafting,

#lucky January 30, 2017 07:00

Hello everyone!

It's Donna here and I'm gonna be sharing my third layout for this month.

I used Ring around my heart and Heart is full background cut files. I used a mixture of watercolors and gelatos to add color to the layout and lots of fussy cutting using papers from an old Clique Kits.

I converted my photo to B&W since I wanted to do a very light, pastel color palette

I resized both cut files according to my preferred size and used a blue patterned paper to mat the smallest one of the cut files.

I just love how this turned out

I hope you liked it! Thanks for dropping by!

Festive tags December 30, 2016 07:00

Hello everyone!!! I can't believe 2017 is just around the corner!!!

My friends and I (together with our families) will be "giving thanks" saying goodbye to 2016 and welcoming 2017 but not the usual celebration we all know and do. I'm in Saudi Arabia and it's not allowed to blatantly celebrate anything not Islam-related. So, in our own ways, we'll celebrate the New year (it's a secret so shhhh lol!). Exchanging gifts is done on or before Christmas but we're going to do that on January, several days after New Year. And being the crafty person that I am, of course I made my own gift tags and used craft papers and scrapbook stuff to wrap and decorate our gifts :D These are supposed to be 3 pieces but the 3rd gift is too big so I didn't include it anymore.

I used the Pineneedle Bough, Holiday Sentiments 2 and Festive Wreath cut files to decorate the tags. I didn't write the names yet because they will see these on my Facebook wall and might figure out, better be safe than take away the element of surprise.

I paired the Pineneedle bough and the word "Peace" to make the first tag

I cut several pieces so I can layer them up like you see in the image. I colored the bough with Promarkers and the word "peace" with gold paint marker. I embossed both. Clear embossing powder on the bough and gold embossing powder on the word "peace".

Basically did the same thing with the second tag. But instead of markers, I used green ink pad to color the wreath. I just dabbed the wreath itself onto the pad. I also embossed both.

I used Graphic 45 stuff to wrap and decorate these gifts. I hope the recipients will like them, both the content and the creative gift wrapping haha!

Thanks for dropping by and may you have a blessed and Happy New Year! Keep safe!

Grateful... Thankful November 23, 2016 07:00

Hello everyone! Donna here to share with you my take on this week's theme.

My page is about my family. I am thankful for them for all the joy, happiness, the craziness, the love. Though my daughter just turned two last October, she has grown beautifully, smart and very active lol! I am so thankful I have a husband like my husband. He puts up with me no matter how crazy I am at times (most of the time haha!). Our family is not perfect. But we care, love and believe in each other. We take the good and the bad, that's what make our family beautiful.

And here is what I created

I converted the photo into B/W to avoid clashing with the soft colors of I used on my layout. Originally, color Red is dominant in the photo.

I wanted to create an airy feeling so I just used light/soft color. I painted the leaves, stems and the words "grateful" and "thankful" with just hints of watercolor

I love how the mixing of papers and embellishments from different manufacturers turned out too!

This part is one of my fave in this page. I just tucked the leaves and stems under the strips of papers, adding texture and dimension to the page.

I hope you liked it!

Thanks for dropping by!

Cut files used: Many Thanks, Leaves 3 and Stems 2.

My family October 31, 2016 07:00

Hello everyone! Donna here to share my second page for this month.

I used the cut file Leaves 3 in this layout and some beautiful "woodland" collection by Pretty Little Studio.

Here is my page

I used watercolors for the splatters on the background and to color the leaves

I cut strips of papers, folded and placed them over each other to create dimension without using a foam tape.

I love that there is a variety of stickers and die cuts in the Woodland collection that you can choose from

That's all from me today. I hope you liked my page!

Cut file used: Leaves 3

Fly High October 01, 2016 07:00

Hello everyone! Donna here today to share a page I created using Just Nick Studio cut file and Pretty Little Studio "Here comes the sun collection".

I can't believe it's already October. It means my daughter is turning 2 in just a few weeks! Time flies really fast when you're having fun and busy with a very active toddler, lol!

Now onto my layout.

I used the Henna cut file.

Originally, it is one piece. But I wanted to place/spread them like you see in my layout. I just tucked each piece over each other

I thought of adding color to it but decided later on I wanted to keep it plain white. The 8x8 vellum paper is already quite bright IMO so, plain white it is.

I used die cuts and stickers to embellish the page. Last minute decision to add pink watercolor border to the edges. Used foam dots to raise some of the die cuts to add a bit of dimension. I also used one of the packaging's backing paper (or whatever it is called) here. It's the one with pink polka dots. I love that you can recycle the packaging like that. It's too pretty to throw away.

I hope you liked my page! Be sure to come back tomorrow for the Just Nick Studio-Pretty Little Studio team up!

Be brave | Stuck? Sketches Team Up September 20, 2016 07:00 1 Comment

Hello everyone!

Donna here to share my take on the Stuck? sketches and Just Nick Studio team up.

Here is the sketch provided

A sketch is meant to be an inspiration, a starting point. I think you don't have to follow it as is, it is a way to get creative. Just like I did on my page.

Since I had my photos printed prior to the sketch, I needed to improvise. Instead of using 3 photos, I used a couple of frames and tucked them under my photo.

To make the cut file stand out, I painted it with brown watercolor And because I love flowers/florals, I had fun fussy cutting one of the papers in the kit ("Moon Child" by Clique Kits)

Cut file used: Rustic leaf frame

Thanks for dropping by!

Don't forget if you decide to play along with the Sketch you get a chance to win a $25 gift certificate!

Happy crafting,

Every summer has a story September 07, 2016 07:00

Hello everyone! Donna here for my first post this month of September. Wow.. September already?! How time flies!

It's still summer here in this part of the world and still hot as ever. Temperature ranges from 32-45 deg Celsius (sometimes higher!) and all you want to do is stay inside your home with the AC full blast! lol!

It's a good thing that there are tons of homes with private indoor pools you can rent for a day or two (or longer if you have that much money lol!). And no, you can't swim in public here, it's not allowed to be seen in public esp women without the black, long dress called Abaya.

Anyway, we already had our first summer escapade last May and it was sure a lot of fun!

I used one of the "decent" photos of my daughter running around the pool lol! She was so excited but didn't want to stay in the water because it was a bit cold. But she did a lot of running around and made her daddy so tired haha!

For my layout, I used 3 different cut files: Summer Lovin, Summer Fun and Floral Circle Doily

To create layers, I used another doily to mat the Floral Circle Doily and tons of light pink thread under the photo, which were also matted with a couple of papers.

Used my Promarkers to color a couple of the Summer Fun cut files

To break the colorful elements, I turned one of the photo in black and white. Also added bits of black-grayish stickers

Matting the big title was not my original plan but when I laid everything down, I thought it looked bleh over the neutral background. So I adhered it to an orange with white polka dot patterned paper and fussy cut. Would have been much better if I did the cutting using my Silhouette Cameo as well, lol!

I wrote the journaling with pencil first before writing permanently using a black pen.

I just love this limited edition Summer kit from Clique Kits and have few more projects to share in my next posts. So watch out for those :D

Lazy days of summer August 18, 2016 07:00

Hello everyone! Donna here to share my page using one of the new cut files in the Just Nick Studio store.

Here is my page using the Summer Lovin wordart set of cut files.

Donna Espiritu - Lazy Days of Summer - Just Nick - Simple Stories

I turned the photo into black and white because my daughter's swimsuit is actually red and navy blue. I kept the title white with just a hint of color.  I used a combination of blue and pink watercolor and lightly brushed it on the title.

My layout is really quite straightforward design-wise. I adhered the doily in the center of the page first and then the frame and stack of photos. From there, I placed the different embellishments of my choosing. After everything is in place, I splattered a bit of light pink watercolor all over the page while covering the photo with a piece of plastic sheet.

I hope you liked my page! Thanks for dropping by!

I used the August kit from Clique Kits featuring Simple Stories - You are here collection.

Cut file used: Summer Lovin

Happy crafting,

You are so beautiful to me August 10, 2016 07:00

Hello folks! Donna here to share my first layout for the month of August.. and wow can't believe we're just a month away from the "-ber" months!

Okay...for this week, I used one of the newest cut files in the Just Nick store.

Donna Espiritu, Just Nick Studio, fancy Pants Designs Millie and June, layout

I used Clique Kits August kit "Rio" featuring Fancy Pants Designs Millie and June collection

I just kept the bulk of the design elements in the middle of the page. This way, the focus is still on the photos

I used the squares to place some wordarts

I hope you liked my page!

Real Life - Creative Scrappers Team Up July 25, 2016 07:00

Hello everyone! Donna here to share my Just Nick Studio and Creative Scrappers team up page.

I resized the Chopsticks cut file so it's thinner than the original size.

Then I adhered them really close and overlapping each other

I am a storyteller July 05, 2016 07:00

Hello everyone!

It's Donna here and I am thankful I am given another term to be one on the Just Nick Studio design team.

I am from the Philippines but currently living in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia with my husband and darling daughter. I am a Computer Engineer by profession but I chose to be a stay-at-home wife and mommy. Although I am hoping to join the work force again in the near future.

I love anything crafty so I also dabble in digital scrapbooking. You can check out about my me on my blog here.

Here is my new intro page. I used an old  Maggie Holmes collection for my page. I've been organizing and purging my stuff lately and I made it a point to use them.

The cut file I used on my page is the Doodle flower background 2

I cut them apart so I can place them where I wanted them. I love that the floral cutfile complimented the clusters of emebellishments

I simply layered some messy thread and floral ephemera around my photo

and on the bottom part design of the page as well

Cherish today June 02, 2016 07:00

Hello! It's Donna here to share my first layout for June on Just Nick's blog.

For my page, I used the Flowers in Bloom background cut file.

Donna Espiritu, Just Nick Studio, Elle's Studio, Jillibean Soup, layout 01

Let me give you a little rundown on how I made my layout

First, I brushed water on the cut file background before brushing yellow gelato. To add a touch of pink, I used Vintage pink chalk edger diluted in a bit of water as well. After it has dried, I adhered it to the patterned paper as you see in the image.

Donna Espiritu, Just Nick Studio, Elle's Studio, Jillibean Soup, layout 01a

Then I bunched up some light pink thread underneath the photo. Added a bit of layering and clustering of ephemera in the right edge of the photo

Donna Espiritu, Just Nick Studio, Elle's Studio, Jillibean Soup, layout 0b

I used one of the tags to line up straight the little sticker alphas

Donna Espiritu, Just Nick Studio, Elle's Studio, Jillibean Soup, layout 01c

After adhering everything, I splattered some mists/inks to the layout. Then I wrote my journaling after the ink/mist splatters dried.

I used CK's June 2016 kit, "La Dolce Vita" on my layout

Hello Little Miss Charmer May 17, 2016 07:00

Hi everyone! Donna here to share with you my newest page using Just Nick Studio cut files

First thing I did was brush several shades of purple, lavender and blue on the background (gelatos). After the surface has dried, I brushed gel medium all over the background. I placed the Fancy Filigree background cut file to the wet gel medium and brushed some more gel medium on the cut file

For more texture, I used a stencil and whipped spackle after the gel medium dried. Using the shapes from the cut file as template, I traced this over different patterned papers and placed them in random spaces.

Before placing the photo, I gathered lots of light pink thread and adhered it under the photo. Then clustered little bits of ephemera pieces to the right side of the photo

I used different shades of Faber Castell PITT pastel pencils to darken spaces of the cut file background and doodled around the pieces of patterned papers with black pen to make it stand out.

I had a lot of fun making this page. Would you try this kind of background technique on your next layout? Let me know when you do!

I used Clique Kits May kit "Northern Lights" featuring Atwell collection by Fancy Pants Designs

She makes me smile May 05, 2016 07:00

Hi everyone!

Donna here sharing my take on this week's theme which is all about "Moms"

For my page, I used the Delicate Florals cut files

Donna Espiritu - Just Nick - Delicate Florals - Simple Stories - layout

I used watercolors and gelatos to achieve the background. With the help of a small piece of plastic sheet, I "scattered" the diluted gelatos and watercolor on the background.

Donna Espiritu - Just Nick Studio - Simple Stories - layout

I also used gelatos and watercolor on the delicate florals cut files. I love these! I didn't have a hard time cutting these pretties! I am really getting the hang of using my Cameo :D

Donna Espiritu - Just Nick Studio - Simple Stories - layout

I think clustering and layering bits and pieces helped making the delicate floral cut files stand out. I only colored some parts of the florals because I still wanted the white visible

Live . Laugh. Love April 18, 2016 07:00

Hi everyone!

Today, I am sharing a page I created using the Live Love cut file from Just Nick Studio shop.

Donna Espiritu - Live Laugh Love -Just Nick - Simple Stories layout

I used Clique Kits April kit "Origins" featuring Simple Stories Life in Color

I resized the cut files around 2 inches. I only used these 3 but there are actually 4 of them in one file. How awesome is that, right? I used gelatos to achieve the watercolor effect.

Donna Espiritu - Live Laugh Love -Just Nick - Simple Stories layout

Then I mat it over some patterns that I cut from just one paper, it has several tags and with different patterns.

Donna Espiritu - Live Laugh Love -Just Nick - Simple Stories layout

To make the words stand out, I lined the insides with brown pen.

Hello everyone! Donna here to share with you my take on the Pinkfresh-Just Nick team up!

I used the LIFE NOTED collection from Pink Fresh Studio

and the Doodle flowers set from Just Nick Studio store

I used watercolors, gelatos, Tombow markers and Promarkers to color the cut flowers. I also doodled some dots and little hearts using a black pen to make the flowers stand out over the light background

I used one of the papers in the collection where it has the word LIFE and placed that to the right side of the page. I wrote my journaling in between the letters and used the yellow alphas as subtitle.

All week long we will be hopping with the team from Pinkfresh Studios! Leave a comment HERE and you could win a goodie bag from Pinkfresh Studios - head over to the Pinkfresh Studio blog and leave a comment for a chance to win  $25 gift certificate to the JustNick Store!

Both winners will be drawn on Monday April 11, 2016. Good luck!

I love cookies March 17, 2016 07:00 1 Comment

Hello everyone!! It's my turn to share my page today on the blog.

My page is about my DD's photo eating a huge cookie! I just love this photo of her which was taken late last year.

I used Floral Burst Background cut file which I resized a bit bigger, about 2 inches bigger than the original size. I used a coral mist and brushed it like burst of rays complementing the petals of the flower cut file

I layered my photo and some strips of paper to cover the edge of the file since the flower isn't whole. I used several different but coordinating patterns and placed underneath for a fun and interesting design

That's it for me today, I hope you liked my page!

Enjoy the moment February 26, 2016 07:00 1 Comment

Hello everyone!

It's Donna here today to share another page I created using one of Just Nick Studio's awesome cut files.

Today's page is quite simple. I used the cut file Enjoy the moment as my page title.

I layered two of the same sized cut file to add a bit of interest to my title since I only used plain white cardstock. I still wanted it to stand out against the soft pastel colors on the background.

I used "Hot Mess" February kit by Clique Kits

Hope you liked my page today!

Dream Big February 09, 2016 07:00 1 Comment

Hello everyone! Donna here to share another page using one of the newest cut files from Just Nick.

"Dream Big"

I used this new heart cut files "Patterned Hearts" released a few days ago,

My machine had a little bit of glitch when cutting these files. I used 6x6 papers instead of 1 whole 12x12 paper. Somehow only half of the 6x6 paper were really cut through and left slight cuts to the right side of the paper. Instead of wasting the papers, I still used them here. (After several restarting of machine and software it finally cut properly). The hearts were re-sized before cutting them.

I cut the hearts in half and placed them to the left and right edges

By now, you would notice my love for layers and messy threads.. and messy backgrounds. I can't seem to leave them clean lol! I also scattered sequins randomly

here are some more detailed shots

Treasure the little details January 26, 2016 07:00

Hello everyone! Donna here with my first post on Just Nick blog.

For my layout, I chose this cute Heart strings background cut file. I kind of de-constructed it to suit the design I have in mind.

I cut the file on my Cameo as is. Then cut the strings and arranged it as seen in the image. I used a glittery watercolor to add shine to the strings.

For added interest, I used stickers to embellish the hearts and also used them as tiny journaling "spots".

I hope you liked my post today!

Welcome Donna Espiritu! January 13, 2016 07:00

Welcome a new face to our team - Donna Espiritu!

My name is Donna Espiritu. I'm from the Philippines currently living in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia with my husband and daughter. I've been scrapbooking since 2004. I also dabble in digital scrapbooking so you might have seen me as scrappydonna in digiland too. I love a lot of different scrapbooking styles. Over the years, it has evolved in so many different ways. But I always love layers, clusters, some textures and dimension. As much as I am fascinated with C&S, I couldn't pull it off for the life of me lol! I love messy - simply messy or extremely messy! I love colors and I struggle with monochromatic and masculine type of layout. There has got to be at least one flower somewhere in my layout or project. Besides scrapbooking, I love to read A LOT. I can finish trilogies in 1-2 days.. but that's before I had my daughter. I love coffee (usually black) and green tea (not too sweet). I love cooking and eating pasta. It's my specialty (if I may say so). I am not talkative, I'm shy IRL but usually mistaken as a snob. I am really friendly and approachable and easy to get along with, once you get to know me.

I'm so happy to be included among this talented group of ladies! Looking forward sharing my work with you all and hopefully inspire you to create art!

Here is a great page by Donna using our cut files:
