Twas The Night Before Christmas - Marcia Dehn-Nix January 04, 2018 07:00

Hello JustNick Studio friends!

Marcia here today. I am having a hard time packing up my Christmas papers so I decided to do one more layout. I hate to see the holidays ending ... that means I have to go back to work. Anyway, I really wanted to scrap this photo of the extended Nix family taken on Christmas Eve. I normally snap candid shots at family gatherings, but my niece brought out a tripod so we gave a group shot a try. I think it turned out great! I decide to go for a BIG title for impact. I used my favorite Outline Alphas and backed them with a variety of different pattern papers.

You can see the FA LA LA LA LA tree tucked in behind the photo. I couldn't resist adding that since we are posing in front of the tree.

I stepped out of my comfort zone and used a piece of dark green pattern paper for my background. I really love how that title just pops against the green.

Here are the cut files I used today ...

Thanks so much for stopping by. Have a great week!

14 Days of Giveaways - Day 3 | Jaclyn Rench December 03, 2017 07:00 3 Comments

Welcome to Day 3 of our 14 Days of Holidays cut file giveaways!  Each weekday from December 1-14, 2017 we will be giving away a FREE cut file for that day only!

This time of year I spend a good portion of my crafty time working on documenting my holiday memories in a December Daily style album.  So, I was excited to incorporate today's free cut file, Falala, into my mini, in a fun and creative way!

I've been wanting to turn a cut design into an oversized page divider, in a mini album, for some time now.  I thought this cut file had a good amount of surface area to pull off this technique.  And I was right!  It successfully divides my two page spread, while still adding enough of a 'see-through' element to unify the right and left designs.

One cut of the file is simply not enough to make for a sturdy page divider.  I sized and cut the file three times, out of a heavy weight, white cardstock.

I used a liquid adhesive to adhere each layer of the design on top of the next.  Doing so, ensures that this interactive piece will withstand passing over the album ring binding, again and again.

To create precisely aligned holes, I simply placed my cut design over top of my page protector and used a coordinating hole punch.

The finished piece easily slips into the binding of my album, and turns just like any other page.  Because the design is so cute on it's own, I added nothing more than a sprinkling of clear sequins for a little extra sparkle and shine.
