Just Nick and Fancy Pants with Suzanna May 23, 2016 07:00

This week we have teamed up with Fancy Pants and are sharing projects that we created using Nicole's amazing cut files with Fancy Pants' bright, colorful Attwell collection.

While there are many more bright, cheery colors in this collection, I stuck with the blues, black and yellow to coordinate with the suits the kids are wearing. I used the yellow for a pop of color to make the picture stand out; there are plenty of elements in the Attwell collection that support that desire!

A couple of weeks ago, the Fancy Filigree background was released. It is such a versatile background! You can use it as a lattice background with the innards removed, as I have done here, or you could fill them with other patterned papers.

Or you could cut a few of the "O" innards from patterned paper and layer them with the "x" remnants of your background cut as I have done here! I love the look that it creates! I scattered a through of them through out the layout.

When it comes to digital cut files are you more of a background cutter or an embellishment cutter? I like both. The collection that I'm using really determines what files work for me more than I have a preference for one or the other.

Thanks for stopping in today! Be sure to come back every day this week as see what the other talented ladies on the team created with Just Nick cut files and Fancy Pants goodies!

Hello Little Miss Charmer May 17, 2016 07:00

Hi everyone! Donna here to share with you my newest page using Just Nick Studio cut files

First thing I did was brush several shades of purple, lavender and blue on the background (gelatos). After the surface has dried, I brushed gel medium all over the background. I placed the Fancy Filigree background cut file to the wet gel medium and brushed some more gel medium on the cut file

For more texture, I used a stencil and whipped spackle after the gel medium dried. Using the shapes from the cut file as template, I traced this over different patterned papers and placed them in random spaces.

Before placing the photo, I gathered lots of light pink thread and adhered it under the photo. Then clustered little bits of ephemera pieces to the right side of the photo

I used different shades of Faber Castell PITT pastel pencils to darken spaces of the cut file background and doodled around the pieces of patterned papers with black pen to make it stand out.

I had a lot of fun making this page. Would you try this kind of background technique on your next layout? Let me know when you do!
