Spring Embroidery Hoop March 29, 2017 06:54

When I first saw the Fancy Floral design in the store, I knew that someday I was going to use it as an embroidery pattern.  Well that someday has come!

I first started by printing the Fancy Floral cut file image onto a piece of Sulky Sticky-Fabic Solvy.  It is a sticky interfacing that dissolves in water AND is printable.

I printed the image in a light grey right onto the Sulky sheet.  Then it just peels right off and sticks to your fabric!  I made sure to size it to fit the inside o my 6" hoop.

Then came the hours of embroidering!   I am just a beginner at this, but thanks to YouTube, I gained a bit of confidence.  I chose to stick with bright, springy colors and I used many different types of stitches for the different flowers.

It was refreshing to do an off the page project with a cut file image!  Hope this inspires you to think outside the box, too!

Grow some YUM! Cut files and Sketch Pens March 30, 2016 07:00 1 Comment

When I saw the Fancy Floral design in the store, I thought it would look awesome done with Sketch Pens on the Silhouette!

I wanted to experiment a bit to see how the pens would do over layers of paper, and here is the result:

I layered some papers on the background and made sure to measure where they were on the page.  In the Silhouette Design Studio, I added my file to the same area on the page and then ran the layout with the papers glued on through my machine with the pens.

I have to say that I am surprised at how well it came out!  One thing I noticed, however, is that on the third layer of paper, there are some spots where the pen dragged a bit because the layer was too thick.  But it is hard to notice with this particular design.

If you don't have sketch pens yet, you should really try them out!

I Love Spring March 22, 2016 07:00

Hello! It's Lee-Anne here and since it's officially Spring in my area, I wanted to share a layout of my favorite season.

For my layout, I began with a 12X 12 piece of white cardstock that I added stripes of distress ink and then I cut the Woven Background on another piece of white cardstock and added it on top of the striped cardstock.  I really thought it looked like a garden trellis and would look good with my flower theme.

Next, I cut the Fancy Floral, Good Vibes and Round And Round cut files on some patterned paper, added some foam squares to give more dimension and placed them on top of the Woven Background. Finally I added my photo, my title in mini stickers and some enamel dots.

Here are the cut files:

Thanks for stopping by and be sure to check out these and many more designs in the Just Nick Digital Cut Files shop.  Happy creating!

Hello JustNick friends!

Marcia here today to share my latest layout using some fabulous JustNick background cut files. Did you know you can use the cut files to create a stencil so you can apply paints or ink to your layout or card. I created a stencil with the Funky Rectangles Background.

With the stencil in place, I first applied a coat of gesso and let it dry. Then I applied some blue acrylic paint over the gesso. I love the added interest and texture the paint adds. Here is my layout...

The flowers I saved from cutting the Fancy Floral background. Don't be so quick to throw those scraps away!

Thanks for stopping by. We would love to see any of your creations made with JustNick cuts.  Please feel free to share them on our Facebook page and Instagram.

Just Married Layout June 17, 2015 07:00

Hello friends! Happy Wednesday! It's Lee-Anne here today on the blog and I am happy to share another layout that I created with the Just Nick Fancy Floral Digital Cut File and the word "capture" from the Capture This Digital Cut Files set. This wedding layout is of my daughter's wedding day.

I cut the Fancy Floral Cut File with my Silhouette Cameo on some paper from the Fancy Pant's Designs Flutter Collection and also the word "captured" on gold foil paper by Fancy Pants.

I hand stitched inside every petal in several coordinating colors of embroidery floss and also about 1/4 inch from the outside edge of the background paper with several colors.

The title is popped up with some dimensional squares on every other letter. I added some sequins and flair buttons too.

I hope you enjoyed your visit. You can find the Fancy Floral Digital Cut File and the Capture This Digital Cut File set in the Just Nick Digital Cut Files Store.  Thanks for stopping by!
