I Love You to the Moon Layout July 06, 2015 07:00 2 Comments

Hello there, I hope you all had a great weekend.

Something I love to do on a layout is create texture on my background by using tone on tone.  That way there is some texture there, but it doesn't take away from my overall design and photos.

My favorite way to do this is create a tone on tone background with all white.  Just like I did in this layout I am sharing with you today.

I took my textured white cardstock and from another piece of the same I cut out a background using the FILIGREE BACKGROUND 1.  I used adhesive backed cardstock, so once it was cut it was so easy to just add it to my first sheet of cardstock without having to mess with any other adhesives.

Once the background design was in place it is now time to focus on the main design of my layout.  I then used corrugated paper in kraft color to cut out the moon file.  It is called TO THE MOON.  But in my cut file program I cut the moon away from the words, because I knew they would get covered up by my photos.

Once I was done with cutting out the moon, I printed my photos in black and white.  I love to print my photos in black and white when I really want them to stand out with the rest of the design, especially when they don't match the colors I am using on the layout.  I added my photos to my layout, grouping them with the moon so it has a cohesive feel to it. I adhered some vellum behind the open stars on the moon to give it an almost cloud like feel.

I then used the word moon from the cut file and added I love you to the from one of my favorite fonts and cut that from adhesive foil in silver.  I added this to the layout right above the photos.  I also cut the date from the same material. I added the date to a tag I had on hand in pink.

I printed my journaling on some pink cardstock, and decided to cut it into strips before I adhered it to the layout.  Then I used the SUNNY DAYS CUT FILE and just used one of the clouds to cut three different sized clouds from vellum to add to the layout. I didn't wan't the clouds to be white because they would have been very noticeable and I wanted them to be more of an accent element. I think besides the story and photos itself, my favorite thing are the vellum clouds.  They just add such a fun surprise element to the layout, almost like there is a real cloud sitting on it.

For the final finishing touches I added some corrugated kraft stars and some pink stars I cut from the same cardstock I printed the journaling on.  Then I added some enamel dots and some rhinestones for that little bit of bling.
Thank you for stopping by to check out my layout.  You can always find me over on my blog at RANDOM RAMBLINGS.
