Hello crafty friends! Majken here with you today to share a sweet layout using the JustNick Studio Floral Cluster 1 cut file. This is our sweet kitty, Oreo:

I began this layout by cutting out the Floral Cluster 1 from white textured cardstock. I decided that instead of backing the flowers with patterned paper, that I would put subtle brushes of ink behind them for a soft look.

I took matching Distress Oxide inks and brushed in circles lightly underneath the cut file.  The larger flowers have Fired Brick and the smaller flowers have Speckled Egg and Stormy Sky, while the leaves have Evergreen Bough.  When I was done, I spritzed a few drops of the ink mixed with water and let it dry.  Then I spritzed water on the ink and patted it with a paper towel. Finally, I spritzed some shimmer ink on top.

I layered some patterned paper strips from Cocoa Vanilla Studio along the left edge of the layout.  Next, I adhered the photo under the cut file slightly and wrote some journal strips.  I completed the layout with some sequins and a few pieces of ephemera, including that adorable corduroy heart. I combined two sets of alphabet stickers for my title.

Here is the Floral Cluster 1 cut file:

Inks are a great way to create a soft background behind cut files, and I hope this inspires you to try this technique!  If you do, be sure to share it with us on Instagram using #justnickstudio.

Thanks for visiting today...have a great day!
