Hello friends! It's Kelly and today I have a TN spread to share of a new album documenting my sweet kitten.

I have always loved doilies and use them frequently on my projects, and I thought that his new cut file Funky Mandala would be perfect to use as I would a doily on my spread.

I traced and cut out three of the images in slightly different sizes. I then placed them around the spread and trimmed off the edges where they overlapped.

Gluing cut files to your projects can be a bit tricky when they are sized down. I found that by gluing sections of the mandala down at a time I was able to have more control over my liquid adhesive. If you have a Xyron runner, these would be perfect to run through as well.

Thanks so much for stopping by today! I hope that this inspires you to create. Be sure and check out the Just Nick store for all the new cut files. Have a great day!

Hello You're Wonderful | Monique Liedtke January 21, 2020 07:00

Hello, it's Monique here today sharing a layout for which I used one of the brand new cut files called "Funky Mandala" and the Willow Lane collection from Maggie Holmes:

This is the Funky Mandala cut file:

I cut the Funky Mandala from smooth white cardstock and adhered different pieces of patterned paper behind each part and spattered some pink paint drops on it. I put the mandala aside to let it dry and proceeded to color the white background cardstock with some light blue watercolor paint and to add some spatter here as well. I cut 1.5 cm off the right and top sides and adhered the background paper on a sheet of dark blue patterned paper. Now I fastened my "Funky Mandala" on the background and added my photo and lots of fun embellishments:

Of course I finished my page by adding machine stitching along the edges of my page, as well as some extra stitching here and there. I also stamped the date and some other fun words.

I love fussy cutting and the papers in this Maggie Holmes collection were just perfect for this. I hand-cut the word "cute", the flowers with the leaves and some of the birds.

I really love how this Funky Mandala turned out and hope you will give it a try too. Make sure to check out the JustNick store to see many more fun new cut files

Thank you so much for stopping by today! See you next time!

But First Coffee | Patricia Roebuck January 20, 2020 07:00

Hi, Everyone!  This is Patricia back to share how I used the same Funky Mandala that I used in my bullet journal for the new year, but in my Traveler's Notebook!  You can see the bullet journal post here.

You can see the ink from how I used the cut file as a stencil on my bullet journal, but I like the added color to it so trimmed it and used it over more pattern paper to do a tone-on-tone effect.  I added the machine stitching to it first.  I happened to have the inside part folded where you can see the other side of the pattern paper and loved it.  I then folded them all in adhering them in place with foam adhesive and adding a puffy sticker.  Got a totally different look to this cut file!

For my title, I used the But First Coffee cut file.

I cut the first part of the title out on plain cardstock trimmed to fit inside my traveler's notebook, then backed it with pattern paper to complement my right side, but also adding a contrasting color.  For the 'coffee' part, I used a woodgrain pattern paper.

Before adhering anything in place or to my album, I sent the entire piece through my typewriter to add journaling.

Next, I adhered the page inside my notebook and finished this with stamping and embellishments.  Thank you so much for stopping by!!

This Year | Bullet Journaling | Patricia Roebuck January 8, 2020 07:00

Happy New Year JustNick Studio Friends!!  I want to share with you new pages I created in my Canva Bullet Journal.  I might have been late in finishing my gratitude journal I did in November, but I finished it, and you can see the last page here.

For today's post, I used the new cut file 'this year' with watercolors and stamps to created a title page.

To help the pattern paper stand out more against the white page, I added shading with the watercolors around it and also used a pen to outline it.  I did resize the cut file just a bit to fit my page.

The next page was a full 2-page.  I was going to use the new Funky Mandala cut out in the blue pattern paper, but I decided to continue the inky background but instead of using watercolors as I did on the first page, I used ink pads and a brush.

I first started by using the negative from the pattern paper to brush on color to my background, then I used the positive (the actual cut file) with inks to create more layers.  I used two shades of ink in the lavender tones, but then pulled in a touch of orange.  Also used it with my stenciled on speech bubbles.

I used the new Script Alpha 2 to merge my Word for 2020 "Surrender" in a darker shade of blue pattern paper to stretch across the bottom of both pages, trimming it where needed.

I added my journaling on the far left and right, and filled in the speech bubbles with stickers to finish.

There is no limit to how you can create bullet journaling, and having the cut files gives you stencils, masks, and the cut file to add to them!

Thank you for stopping by!!  I Hope this gives you some idea how to get creative in 2020!  I'll be back to share a Traveler's Notebook spread using that same Funky Mandala!
