JustNick Cut File Store

Hi everyone, Michelle here with a new layout to share with you featuring a background cut file called 'Funky Rectangles'.

I really wanted to showcase how easy it is to create lots of texture on your layouts with cut files.  Therefore, I kept my colour palette really simple and created my layout with no patterned paper.   I love the tone on tone look with the white cardstock cut file on the white cardstock background.  I think it works really well with my black and white photos which were also really busy in colour.

Some close ups:

Thanks so much for stopping by the blog today - I hope I have inspired you to create some textural layouts with your cut files.

Hello JustNick friends!

Marcia here today to share my latest layout using some fabulous JustNick background cut files. Did you know you can use the cut files to create a stencil so you can apply paints or ink to your layout or card. I created a stencil with the Funky Rectangles Background.

With the stencil in place, I first applied a coat of gesso and let it dry. Then I applied some blue acrylic paint over the gesso. I love the added interest and texture the paint adds. Here is my layout...

The flowers I saved from cutting the Fancy Floral background. Don't be so quick to throw those scraps away!

Thanks for stopping by. We would love to see any of your creations made with JustNick cuts.  Please feel free to share them on our Facebook page and Instagram.

Way To Go June 25, 2015 06:00

Hi everyone!

Melissa here and I'm a wee bit excited about my first blog post with you all.

One of my favorite things to do with cut files and showcase how to use something meant for a layout, and use it for a card. It's lots of fun and shows the versatility of cut files.

Nicole has created some super fun background cut files and there was one in particular I was jonesing to use. It's called Funky Rectangles.

I'm loving the trend shown on layouts where a background cut file is used on solid cardstock - usually white - and then, backed with different pattern papers. SO cool! Of course I had to try it on a card!

I use the .png version of the cut files in my Silhouette Software. Using the trace feature, I create the cut lines for the shape.

After that, I release the compound path so I can crop out what I don't want to use. In this case, I cropped out the multiple columns of rectangles to just use one chunk.

Then, I resized to make it work for my card size and shape.

It's so fun to mess around with all the capabilities of my software and awesome cut files like this. Here is the finished card with some close ups:

Thanks for swinging by today!
