February GDT and our monthly FREEBIE! February 12, 2016 07:00 10 Comments

It is time for us to share a guest with you on the blog and today we are joined by the talented Adrienne Alvis as our Guest Designer for February!

Hello! My name is Adrienne Alvis and I was born and raised in Southern Illinois and grew up around my family’s farm.  My mother was always sewing, making crafts, and taking craft classes, but I didn’t discover my crafty side until after I had my youngest son, almost 9 years ago.  I started creating traditional layouts, but soon found a love for making cards, mini albums, home decor projects, and most recently, pocket page scrapbooking.  I am currently designing for Freckled Fawn, Hip Kit Club, and Pinkfresh Studio and have been on many other design teams over the past few years.  I’ve been married to my husband for 10 years now and we have three beautiful and spirited kiddos, Garrison (13), Jubal (9), and Avery (6). Of course, my children are the main source of my scrappy subject matter and I love how documenting their every move and milestone helps satisfy my creative urges.  Other than paper-crafting I like to read, run, watch movies in bed, listen to music, travel, and work on DIY home projects. You can see more of my work on my blog or follow me on FacebookPinterest, and I'm also a huge Instagram fan so feel free to check out my feed. I'm so excited to be a guest designer here at JustNick and share my work with all of you

We asked Adrienne to create a page using any cut files from our store and look what she created:

For this layout I used the Snowflakes cut file and the "Love" sentiment from the freebie cut file to create my page. I resized and cut out the snowflakes from a piece of white card stock and then layered it over a sea foam green piece of card stock.

I cut the snowflakes out again using an aqua colored card stock and layered several of the aqua ones on top of the cut out pieces from the white card stock. I used the "Love" sentiment as part of my title and placed the "Lego" foam letters on top of the heart. I really like the contrast the black and white elements gave my page and the snowflakes were the perfect motif for the photos of my daughter holding her Frozen Lego castle she built all by herself.

As Adrienne mentioned, we sent her a cut file designed just for her based on what sort of files she likes... and this is what she created with it combined with our Brick Circle background! It's amazing!

For this layout I used the Brick Circle cut file and the SWAK sentiment from the freebie cut file. I enlarged the brick circle and placed various pieces of patterned paper under each brick. I added several of the SWAK sentiments and sized them to fit inside of the bricks.

I used black thread and my sewing machine to stitch around the entire brick circle and layered several chipboard stickers around my photos to help draw the eye around the circle. I printed my photos off in black and white for added contrast and to coordinate with the black elements of my page

Thanks to Adrienne for guesting for us today!!! I just love what she did with our cut files!
