Well, hello there again JustNick fans!  Majken here back-to-back on the blog this month, and today I'm sharing a layout with a cut file on top of a watercolor mixed media layout.  I'm using two fun cut files with hearts:  Scribble Hearts and Heart Background 5.

Remember Today

What I love about this Pink Paislee collection Horizon is that it has feminine colors and bolder colors that don't exclude you from using with boys.  I snapped this photo of my son and I before we went into the movie theater to see a movie.

To begin the layout, I first matched Distress Inks to the collection, dabbed the ink pads to my mixed media mat, and then just started spreading the colors out randomly with my watercolor pen, blending them together.

After it dried, I ran the page through my Minc machine to flatten the cardstock again.  I trimmed it so I could back it onto the pink patterned paper.  I distressed the edges and then sewed along the edge after adhering it to the patterned paper.

The Heart Background 5 cut file is great because it has both solid and outline cuts.  I backed some of the outline cuts with patterned paper, and I left some open so that the watercolors could show through.

I cut 3 Scribble Hearts and used 3D foam to pop them up for dimension, creating a visual triangle.

Because of the background and the backed cut file, I purposely didn't use a lot of ephemera.  I also used some of the cut hearts from the background as ephemera like the one you see above on the photo.

Here are the cut files used in today's project:

Thanks so much for joining me today - have a super week full of crafty cut file fun!

Family Love | Maryám Pérez February 8, 2018 07:00

Hello Friends! Maryám here with you today to share a new layout using JustNick cut files. Since this is the love week at the blog I decided to use the Heart Background 5 cut file and a photo of my family.

This layout was really easy to do. First of all, I sent my cut file through my Silhouette Cameo and then I backed all of the hearts with some pattern papers. After that, I added a few embellishments but not too much because I wanted to keep the cut file as my main element.

Here are some close-ups:

That is for today. I hope you liked this layout. Let me know if you have any question. And as always say, don’t forget to visit the shop for more amazing cut files... and if you need inspiration check out the other posts on the blog!
Have a wonderful day.
