{Wonderful Day} Print & Cut a Cut File with Minc Foil | Majken Pullin June 19, 2020 07:00

Hello crafty friends!  Majken here with you today to share how I used the Silhouette Studio print and cut feature with the Minc foil to create a fun cut file title.  I used the new It's a Wonderful Day cut file -- which I fell in love with as soon as I saw it!

It's so hard to photograph foil, so my main photo shows unbalanced light so you can better see that gorgeous pink foil I've paired with the Heidi Swapp Honey & Spice collection (with a little embellishment help from Pink Paislee Auburn Lane).  Here is the layout with balanced light:

The first thing I did was spattered some ink on a blank textured white cardstock and set it aside to dry.

Next I opened the It's a Wonderful Day cut file in Studio, choose Print & Cut, and print the cut file on smooth cardstock on my laser printer.  Some tips for you:

  1. Make sure your registration marks are turned on.  What you are printing should not fall into the hashmarked area.
  2. Use smooth cardstock so your foil will apply smoothly.
  3. Make your print slightly larger than the cut so that you don't have toner missing on the edges.
  4. Use a laser printer to print your file.  If you don't have one, you can use a copy place like Kinko's or use laser toner paper like the one from Heidi Swapp (if you use toner paper then there's no need to print...you just need to cut your file as you normally would).

Once it was printed, I sent the file to my Silhouette Cameo to cut.

Then it's ready to put through the Minc machine with the foil.  I used the #3 setting.  Rather than back the cut file letters individually, I tore strips of paper to lay behind the "wonderful".

I tucked my layered photo in the top left of the strips.

A few embellishments and journal strips finished the layout.

Here's the cut file.

I hope you try your take on print and cut with foiling - if you do, share it with us on Instagram using #justnickstudio.

Thanks for dropping by today!  Have a great weekend.

happy // Sarah Bargo May 16, 2020 07:00

Hey paper peeps Sarah here! I wanted to share a fun and easy way to use a cut file on your travelers notebook layouts! I used the word happy from the Spring Words cut files!

I used Tim Holtz Spun Sugar Oxide ink refill and watercolored a little bit directly onto the word!

I always leave a few spots of the surface white that I'm watercoloring, I think that reveals the "magic" of the watercolor technique!

Do you like creating travelers notebook mini albums? I love them I think they're so much fun! Especially when you have a cute cut file to put on the page like these cute Spring words!

Thanks so much for stopping by! Have a happy scrappy day!

Love | Vicki Parker April 25, 2020 07:00

Hi everyone, it's Vicki here today with my latest layout using the gorgeous new April releases.

I used Spring Wreath 2 which you can find in store here.

I started by cutting the wreath on some patterned paper from Vicki Boutin's Let's Wander collection and sticking it slightly off centre on a sheet of Heidi Swapp Art Walk paper in a similar greeny/blue shade.

I wanted to do lots of layering around my photo, but leave the wreath pretty much as it was because it's so, so pretty.

I used lots of die cuts and stickers from the Jen Hadfield, Hey Hello collection to layer up the photo and I also added a few enamel dots and paint splatters.

I finished with the title "Love" using some Amy Tangerine Thickers. I was happy with how this came together - it's lovely and subtle and really showcases the cutfile and photo. Thanks for looking!

Mixing Cut Files // Sarah Bargo March 6, 2020 18:23

Hey paper peeps! Sarah here with a fun way to use a variety of cut files all at once! Recently I went to Arizona to see my family, and I wanted to scrap my photos asap so I didn't forget anything.. so I created a mini album! And for the first time ever, I made a 4x4 album and it was SO MUCH FUN!! All of the pages were 4x4 so I cut a bunch of different papers and cut files and just went to town and ended up with all of these cute little pages! Come on I'll show you some!

On this one I actually combined 2 cut files! These are the ones I used:

I just cut a folder out of patterned paper and then layered a flower right over the top of it!

I wanted to put the month "February" on a tag as the front cover, so I used the Month Script cut files!

And created this cute little cover tag:

Then I used the adorable flamingo in "Take Me to Paradise" to create this!

He's so cute I just love him!

Then I used these:

to create these!

The folders are the perfect size to use as a full 4x4 page, and the "Summer Cards" are the perfect size to trim a little and lay it over top of a 4x4 page!

A pretty word looks perfect layered directly on top of a photo!

I hope I have inspired you to create something fun this weekend :) I can't wait to finish creating my pages, then I can put them all together and have this chunky little stack of memories!

Thanks so much for stopping by! xoxo

EVERY SUMMER HAS A STORY / SARAH BARGO August 1, 2019 07:00

Hey there paper peeps, happy August 1st whhaaattttt?!?!?!?!? I can't believe we're thinking back to school already ohmygosh! But hey, it's still summer so lets soak it up! Something I love about summertime is all of the fantastic stories and memories you make! Seems like there is fun stuff going on all around you! That's why I love this cut file made to stick right into your travelers notebook, it has the perfect phrase!

Isn't it so cute?! I just love it! It was so simple, I just cut it out, trimmed the edges a little, then adhered it onto a bright and tropical-esque floral paper! I wanted to bring out the bright pink flowers in the photo, they were so pretty to walk under!

I just love how the flowers poke through :) and I love the font that the word "summer" is in, so pretty!

I hope you give this cut file a try, it will look so cute paired with your summer memories!!

Thank you so much for stopping by, have a beautiful day!

THIS DARLING | Nathalie DeSousa May 27, 2019 07:00

Hi there!

Nathalie with you today with a new layout that is probably one of my favorite thus far.  I love cut files, and the latest designs that Nicole has been adding to the JustNick Studio shop are just beautiful, I had to use a few of them to create this page:

This page is probably the best way to describe me, "Black & White with a hint of rainbow", and  i love it.   To start, I pulled the new Blossoms cut file, and cut it twice from white cardstock.

while the Silhouette cameo worked on cutting the designs, i added a bit of black paint to the background, marking the area where the cut outs will sit.   I set this aside to dry, and went back to working on the cut out.

I used the Basic Blossoms cut file to cut the flower shapes that back the cut out.  I set the machine to cut all the flowers from a paper of the Color Fresh collection from Heidi Swapp, and also vellum.  At the same time, i set the machine to cut the new Butterfly cut file to create three butterflies for my design.

The flowers of the cut out were backed with the patterned paper flowers and vellum -for some of them-, but only the center of the flowers were glued together.  The two cut outs were then glued to the background.  I used some of the extra cut out flowers and vellum to add some dimension to the  page by adding a glue dot in between them.

All that was left to do was add the picture of my baby and some embellishments to frame the picture and bring your eye through the layout.  Of course i added some extra splatters before calling it done.

I hope this inspires you to check the new JustNick Studio cut files.  There are so many new designs available that for sure will help you create that special project.  If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me!

XO

Every Summer Has A Story | Rachel Lowe. September 11, 2018 07:00

Hello Rachel here and today I have a summer layout using several cut files and a wonderful title feature.

Firstly I chose my title and then sized it as I needed for my layout.

From the Take me to Paradise cut file set I cut three flowers varying in sized, I then cut two of the palm leaves and one of the other leaf. I then put this together, using foam tape to layer my flowers and attached my leaves. I finished off my tropical flowers with some NUVO dew drops.

I then over sized the flamingo backing it with a wonderful paper from Heidi Swapps new collection Pineapple Crush. I added a die cut flower from the collection. I then hand stitched around the flamingo to add texture and definition.

I used an ombre lime green paper from the Pineapple Crush collection which adds visual interest to my title. This title really enable me to add embellishments and my photo in a unique way.

I then added some embellishment features and my photo, careful not to over do the embellishing due to already having two large features on the layout.

And there you have it, two wonderful cut files that you would certainly use over and over again. Thank you for stopping by today and I hope I have inspired you to create your own summer story layout!
