Festive tags December 30, 2016 07:00

Hello everyone!!! I can't believe 2017 is just around the corner!!!

My friends and I (together with our families) will be "giving thanks" saying goodbye to 2016 and welcoming 2017 but not the usual celebration we all know and do. I'm in Saudi Arabia and it's not allowed to blatantly celebrate anything not Islam-related. So, in our own ways, we'll celebrate the New year (it's a secret so shhhh lol!). Exchanging gifts is done on or before Christmas but we're going to do that on January, several days after New Year. And being the crafty person that I am, of course I made my own gift tags and used craft papers and scrapbook stuff to wrap and decorate our gifts :D These are supposed to be 3 pieces but the 3rd gift is too big so I didn't include it anymore.

I used the Pineneedle Bough, Holiday Sentiments 2 and Festive Wreath cut files to decorate the tags. I didn't write the names yet because they will see these on my Facebook wall and might figure out, better be safe than take away the element of surprise.

I paired the Pineneedle bough and the word "Peace" to make the first tag

I cut several pieces so I can layer them up like you see in the image. I colored the bough with Promarkers and the word "peace" with gold paint marker. I embossed both. Clear embossing powder on the bough and gold embossing powder on the word "peace".

Basically did the same thing with the second tag. But instead of markers, I used green ink pad to color the wreath. I just dabbed the wreath itself onto the pad. I also embossed both.

I used Graphic 45 stuff to wrap and decorate these gifts. I hope the recipients will like them, both the content and the creative gift wrapping haha!

Thanks for dropping by and may you have a blessed and Happy New Year! Keep safe!

12 Days of Giveaways - Day 7 December 07, 2016 07:00 1 Comment

Hello everyone!

It's always a fun time when I get to join everyone on the blog. I get to play along with our 12 Days of Giveaways and today we are giving the Holiday Sentiments 2 away for FREE.

We all need some good sentiments in our cut file stash, don't we? I see these being used on pages documenting all your wonderful holiday memories. I'm sharing how you can also use them on cards. For my first card, I went really simple. No frills. No special techniques. Just straight up cut file with a couple of embellishments. I'm all about playing it simple during the holidays and... bonus... this would be so easy to replicate!

For my next card I tried out stitching the word. I had a plan, in my mind, for what I wanted to do and it just didn't turn out. I wanted red twine and such but... I really like the white looks. There are so many tutorials out there on how to turn a cut file into stitching. Some will tell you to use sketch pens and then use a paper piercer. I just don't have the patience for that. So, I used the perforated cut option on my Silhouette. It doesn't do holes... just little dashes of cuts. And it worked so well.

I kind of like that the word doesn't jump out at you. You can still see it, though. I think it exudes the peacefulness of Christmas time. With the exception of the stitching and time that took, I kept it pretty clean and simple for this card too. Just a few ephemera and I was done!

Thanks for joining me on day seven of our 12 Days of Giveaways!
