Popit Pup Layout | Nicole Kerr August 23, 2021 07:19

Hello crafty friends!
Nicole here and today I'm sharing a layout for all of our pet lovers out there!
There has been a cutfile in the shop that I have been eyeing and the idea finally came to light! Today I'm sharing a mixed media layout featuring the In The Doghouse cutfile and the new Lower Case Funky Alpha cutfile!
I began with the mixed media portion of my layout. I gessoed the background with clear gesso as a prep. Once dry, I used a paw print stencil I had to add 3 dimensional paw prints to the back ground  If you don't have a stencil already, you can easily make your own with this cutfile! I let that sit and dry completely because the next step was to add the color.  I add some colored mists and then spray some water so the color would run and puddle around the paw prints. I added a few layers of grey, silver and brown, letting each dry in between the next layer of color. once all areas of color were dry, I added splatters.
To accent those areas of mixed media, I used the cutfile to create coordinating paw prints. For the papers and embellishments for this layout, I used the Bella Blvd. Cooper collection. This paper matched my splatters almost perfectly!
I then used other elements in the cutfile to create a dog house and bones, cutting those from different pattern papers. I created a cute little scene with diecuts from the collection and two photos of our family pup, Odie, who was playing with my son and is huge popit!
Lastly, I curled the edges of my layout, added a few staples and bones to accent it, and adhered my title using the second cutfile. I welded my letters together before cutting it so it was easier to place.
Thanks so much for joining me today!
I hope you've been inspired!

Furever Love | Jaclyn Rench July 12, 2017 07:00

Hello Just Nick friends, it's Jaclyn joining you on the blog today.  Have you checked out some of the new animal themed cut files in the store?  With a new(ish) puppy in our home I've been crushing hard on the dog designs.  I couldn't wait to use the In the Doghouse file to document the story of how we found our furry new family member.

I fell in love with the 'furever love' design - it was a no brainer to use it as my page title.  To mix things up a bit, I separated the 'furever' word from the rest of the design and subbed in some other letters and embellishment to complete my title.

Aside from the text, there are several fun icons included within the cut file.  I used the paw prints, in both negative and positive, to sprinkle in the top right corner of my page.  It adds some subtle embellishment and reinforces the theme.

In addition, I couldn't resist sneaking in a dog bone shaped tag that overlaps my focal photo - isn't it the cutest?! A small bit of patterned paper was used to fill in the negative space and ensure that the x's and o's stood out.

If you haven't already, be sure to check out all of the other animal themed designs in the shop.  There are plenty of fun ones to use to scrap your family pet or even a trip to the zoo.

Dad and Sparky | Marcia Dehn-Nix June 23, 2017 07:00

Hello JustNick Studio friends!

Marcia here today. All this week, in honor of Father's Day, we are showcasing masculine layouts. I thought I would scrap a photo of my Dad and his dog Sparky. These two are never far apart. Sparky was a rescue dog that certainly found his furever home when he caught our eye on a local pet adoption day. Scrapping a photo of my Dad means I can make use of that awesome new DAD digital cut file too. Here is my layout ...

Besides the Dad cut file, I add some XOXO dog tags from the In The Doghouse cut file and made use of some triangles left over when cutting the Triangle Geo Background cut file. I love the added interest the triangles give to my background ... and they coordinate really well with the black geometric pattern paper.

Here are the cut files I used today ...

Thanks so much for stopping by. Enjoy your weekend!
