XOXO // by Sarah Bargo February 27, 2020 07:00
Hey paper peeps Sarah here! I love February because everything is about love and hearts and all those good things! Just because Valentine's Day is over, doesn't mean we can't scrap about our sweethearts, right? Love never goes out of season :) I created a layout in my travelers notebook about my kitty, Salem. I don't have very much scrapped about him so I better get busy!
I used the darling XOXO located in the "Cupids Arrow" cut files!
This was the most simple layout ever, because all I had to do was cut the xoxoxo out of cute paper, then clip it to my page! So adorable!
Sooo… do you ever feel like someone is watching you?...
One day when I was scrappin, I had that feeling and looked over and saw this creepo starin at me lol! He makes me laugh so much, my little sidekick :)
Do you have a little sidekick that watches you craft? You should definitely do a page about it and use this darling cut file!
Thank you so much for stopping by! xoxo

Hello crafty friends, and welcome to February! Majken here today to kick off Love and Hearts theme week. I'm sharing a layout today of me with my infant daughter because this month, she turns 18 (gasp!!), and I wanted to document more of my time with her when she was little.
After I cut out the Floral Heart Background cut file with white cardstock, I cut out the inside of the heart by releasing the compound path and ungrouping the pieces to remove the bits I didn't want to cut, and then I created a thin offset of just the inside of the heart. I did the same thing with the flower and leaves.
Here is what this looks like in Silhouette Studio:
Next, I backed the open parts of the heart flowers and leaves using Cocoa Vanilla Studio More Than Words. It's so soft and pretty, and that little bunny ephemera was perfect - it's hard to see, but my daughter was wearing a bunny and carrots onesie. :)
I used 3D foam adhesive to give dimension to the Floral Heart Background cut file. I also spattered some Distress Oxide inks over my background for some texture (Tattered Rose, Abandoned Coral, and Spun Sugar).
I used ephemera, stickers, a tassel, and sequins to finish the layout.
Isn't this cut file just gorgeous?!?
I hope you get some time to document love for someone special this week! We'd love for you to share your projects with us on Instagram - tag us with #justnickstudio so we can see what you create!
Love Cards // Sarah Bargo January 24, 2020 07:00
Hey there paper peeps! Well it seems that January is just flyin right on by isn't it?! I would like to get a jump on my handmade Valentine's this year, so I'm here to show you a fun & easy way to make a whole bunch, all at once!
I picked up some cute corrugated hearts at Hobby Lobby in the Valentine's Craft section, it's a pack of red & white hearts! A painted some of the white ones light pink and some mint green, then wiped some white paint over that when it dried, just to soften the color a little bit. Then, I cut a bunch of the "love" word cut file out, a few extra in case I messed up lol!
Then comes the fun part! Find pretty bits & pieces to layer under and around your love word! In this case I used light pink lace pieces, pretty floral ephemera, and of course, sequins!
The possibilities are endless! We all have those pretty scraps left over from other projects, now is the perfect time to use them! No more hoarding lol!
If you're not sure on how to create a heart shaped card base, I kinda created a short cut to use.. just take a white notecard, and layer your heart on top of it with the left side hanging off the folded side a bit. (It's important to leave a piece of the folded edge not cut, because that's going to keep your 2 heart pieces together and make it an actual opening card.) Then just trace and cut! Boom an instant heart card!
I hope you are inspired to create your own lovely happy mail! I can't wait to mail these out!
Thanks so much for stopping by!

You Have My Whole Entire Heart | Majken Pullin February 25, 2019 07:00
Hello cut file crafters! Majken here with you today, and I'm sharing another love-themed project with you using some fabulous new cut files. I created my previous layout in blues, but today I'm switching back to the more traditional love color: pinks! And I'm using Heidi Swapp's Hawthorne collection because I have all the heart eyes for ombre paper! Who's with me??
I cut my title first using textured white cardstock, sizing the "HEART" to go the length of my layout. I cut the smaller title words using pink paper, but I felt it "melted" into the page, so I cut it again using white cardstock to shadow the pink and help it pop off the page.
Instead of using the inside for the "A" and the "R", I cut a bunch of Hearts 4 out in various sizes and replaced those areas.
I also cut several of the Candy Hearts 2 using white cardstock and matted them with various matching papers so the words would show through nicely. And I matted my photo, tucking a couple of the hearts around it and using a third one in the top left corner.
A few added embellishments....and voila!
Now it's your turn! Go grab these and other love-ly cut files from the JustNick store so you can celebrate your love.
Have a great day!

LOVE | Monique Liedtke January 7, 2019 07:00
Hello JustNick friends! It's Monique here with my very first layout for JustNick for 2019. The assignment for this week was to create a project about our goals for 2019 or to create an "about me" project. I don't normally have goals for any new year, but there's one goal I always set myself (and never manage to achieve) and that is to stop postponing things! I'm such a procrastinator!
So here's a layout about me with my goal for ALL of the years:
I love the cut file I used for this page: "Loads of Love":
Isn't this cut file awesome?! It's so versatile! In this case it stands for "loving my life". I used Paige Evans (Pink Paislee's) Pick-Me-Up collection. I love how colorful this collection is, which is very "me". I added a few bits and pieces from other collections/manufacturers as well, like the little piece of paper with the text, which is from Simple Stories, the green puffy sticker, which is from MAMBI and the white puffy sticker which is from Pinkfresh Studio.
Here are a few close-ups:
Thank you so much for stopping by today to have a look at my page. If you want to check out this cut file or any other "LOVE" cut file in the store, just click HERE.
Wishing you and your loved ones a very happy 2019!!
Friendship | Morgan Langley May 22, 2018 07:00
Hey guys! Today I am sharing a layout that is a little different for me! I love watercoloring, but I usually keep it simple with a few splatters here and there. For this one though I cut the different stems from "Stems 2,4, and 5" (three cut files) and water colored away! I did a rainbow of coloring and mixed shades and amounts of water to get the look I wanted. While the paint was still wet I did splatters of darker/lighter colors or just water drips to make the paint spread. I love the way it turned out and it was SO fun and care free!
I added super minimal embellishments with some corresponding sequins, flowers, little birds, ladybugs, snails, etc. Then I used mixed letter stickers to create my title!
Thank you so much for stopping by! Pick up these unique stem cut files yourself and see what you can create! It's always fun to try something new!
You Make My Heart Smile - Cathy Martin February 25, 2018 07:00
Hey all, it's Cathy and I'm back with another layout to share with you! This time I decided to use a cut file as a mask and use some spray mist to spray over it. This isn't really a new or different technique, but it's one that I've used several times before and I love the end results.
So for my layout I used the You Make My Heart Smile cut file. This file actually comes with several different phrases and I cut 3 of them out, though I only used 2 for my page, but I just tucked the other one aside for another time! I used a spare piece of cardstock that I had laying around, since I wasn't worried about keeping the file after I had sprayed it, though you could cut if from white cardstock and then keep the altered file for another project, kind of a two for one deal!
Since my spray title took up one side of my layout I used a bunch of patterned paper strips to fill the other side. I dug into my stash and scraps and used up some older papers that I had been wanting to use for a while. This was a great way to really use up lots of papers that are just laying around. I didn't need much in the way of embellishments since the title and papers were already so bold!
Thank you so much for stopping by and taking a look, and don't forget to check out the shop for lots of amazing designs!
Tug At My Heart - Cat Martin February 16, 2018 15:45
It's a week of love here on the JustNick blog, and I'm definitely feeling it! I really wanted to use some older products along with some new products to finally scrap some photos that I have been setting aside for quite awhile! I used the very cute Heart Strings background cut file, as it was the perfect one for tucking photos in!
I didn't cut it very large, because I wanted to have some room for embellishments, but since I cut it out of navy blue paper it still stands out, and it matches well with the Main Squeeze collection from Crate Paper! I love how this layout turned out. It's a Valentines Day layout that is slightly different than usual layouts!
Thank you so much for stopping by, and have an awesome day!
Heart is Full | Morgan Langley February 15, 2018 07:00Hey crafty friends! I am excited to be sharing another LOVE post this week! I used the beautiful "Heart is Full Background" cut file to create this fun and simple layout of my sister, Violet, and I!
Family Love | Maryám Pérez February 8, 2018 07:00
Hello Friends! Maryám here with you today to share a new layout using JustNick cut files. Since this is the love week at the blog I decided to use the Heart Background 5 cut file and a photo of my family.
This layout was really easy to do. First of all, I sent my cut file through my Silhouette Cameo and then I backed all of the hearts with some pattern papers. After that, I added a few embellishments but not too much because I wanted to keep the cut file as my main element.
Here are some close-ups:
That is for today. I hope you liked this layout. Let me know if you have any question. And as always say, don’t forget to visit the shop for more amazing cut files... and if you need inspiration check out the other posts on the blog!
Have a wonderful day.
Love You by Niki Rowland February 6, 2018 07:00
I chose a very busy and colourful paper from the Crate Paper Main Squeeze collection and cut the Heart Background 4 from it, almost as big as I could go! I've then raised it up on foam pads and built up the rest of my layout at the bottom in a cluster.
Love Love Love - Cathy Martin January 12, 2018 07:00
Hey everyone!!! It's my first layout and blog post for 2018 for JustNick! I swear, she's going to have to kick me to the curb to get me to leave! Where I live, it's cold, the wind hurts my face, and there is slush and snow everywhere, so I decided I needed to channel a little sunshine into my page!
I used the Loads of Love cut file, and I cut it out of a pinky-peach ombre paper. I was originally going to cut it out of white cardstock, but decided to use up some of the neglected solid papers in my stash. At this point I had no clue where I was going with it, only that I knew I wanted to put a picture in the largest O. I used a SnapChat pic of my daughter and I, since I needed a small one, and the quality of the photo wasn't the greatest, so it was better to keep it small. I then chose various fun patterned papers from my paper scraps stash. I always love stash busting with Nicole's cut files!
I wasn't sure what background paper to use, but in the end I couldn't resist using the bright and friendly clouds! My daughter also helped influence my background paper choice. I only did a minimal amount of embellishing, since the page was already brimming with fun! I am so happy with how seriously cute this page turned out!
Thanks so much for stopping by, and have an awesome day!
Love | Zsoka Marko July 19, 2017 07:00
Hi there Just Nick fans,
Zsoka back with you today with a new layout.
You probably don't know this about me because I mostly do boy pages, but I've been in love with flowers ever since I was a little girl. They make me happy. I love to touch them, smell them and yes, even talk to them. A while ago I decided I will not deny myself the joy of using floral patterns and flowers on my layouts just because I don't scrap girls. They cheer me up. And Nicole does the prettiest floral cut files, doesn't she?! So today again I chose a floral cut file which is quite new still. I think this is my absolute favourite one right now!
Isn't it just fabulous?!
I decided to blow it up a little and turn it around so it's at the top of my page. I picked the gorgeous Oh My Heart collection from Paige Evans. I love the purples in this collection! I chose a purple paper for my background, then backed the flowers with different patterned papers from this collection. I hand cut some leaf shapes from different purple papers, which I then layered on the cut file for a bit of extra dimension. I glued some foam adhesive under the cut file so I can tuck my picture under it.
At this point I had no idea what photo I want to use. It happens very often that I do the background and then I find a photo. Mostly one that is already printed so I don't feel like I'm wasting anything ha! But then I realized I actually have a color photo in which I'm wearing some purple floral leggings! So I went ahead and printed out that one. I think it fits perfectly.
For my title I picked the cute wood veneer word LOVE which I believe is from Ashley Horton's first collection, Oakley Avenue. I glued this on top of a circle scallop wood veneer from the Paige Evans Take Me Away collection.
Other than this I only added a suede bow, a chipboard, a puffy sticker, a few buttons and some enamel dots. Generally I add more embellishments but I felt like the page was finished at this point. I didn't even add paint splatters which I do on most of my layouts!
I hope I could inspire you in one way or another! Thank you for stopping by today!
All You Need Is a Free Love Cut File! February 18, 2017 08:00
Hey everyone, it's Cathy here and I'm showing you all my layout using the fantastic Free Love cut file that is available for free until February 19th! Just use the code FREELOVE when you're at the checkout! For my take I decided to get in on the bling and I backed my letters with sequins and some large glitter and an iron-on sequin edging. I always love finding ways to incorporate unusual items and textures into my layouts and this method gave me a fantastic focal piece! I didn't really need to do much else since I already had so much going on but I did like putting everything on the diagonal. Just to make it a little more interesting. I added some punched out hearts for dimension and used some chipboard from Crate Paper Heart Day. Thanks so much for stopping by and don't forget to get this cut file while you still can!
Happy Day | Free LOVE Cut File February 17, 2017 06:00
Hi there. I'm rounding off the Love themed week today with a couple of cards using this week's Free Love cut file...
I adored the fringe look of this pattern paper so I decided to layer three strips over each other. It's a bit hard to tell in the photo but it has some fun dimension.
Then, I layered 3 medium sized LOVE cuts over each of the three strips and added embellishments...voila!
Get the Free LOVE cut file before it's gone. You have until February 19th. Just enter the code FREELOVE at checkout.

Hello JustNick Studio friends!
Marcia here today. Have you ever created a layout using a digital cut file and looked at the pieces remaining on your cutting mat and say to yourself, "That is too pretty to throw away!". I did that this past week with the Blocked Hearts Background cut file. I just couldn't throw away the scraps, so I decided to make another layout, very similar to the first.
This cut file is unique in that it has this big X that dissects the cut file. I wanted to play up that X by placing pattern paper behind only a portion of the cut file so that the heart pattern really popped and yet still maintain some white space. The subtle white on white heart pattern is beautiful, but the pink paper behind the heart cut outs takes your breath away. Here is my first layout using the positive pieces of the cut file...
My second layout is very similar, but uses the negative pieces of the same cut file. It's a bit more gluing, but well worth it. Here is a tip; It helps to leave the negative pieces on your cutting mat so you know where each piece goes...
My parents are adorable! 55 years of marriage and still going strong. On both layouts, I used washi tape to emphasize the X in the cut file. It is the perfect width for washi tape!!
I also used the Love Actually digital cut file for the "Love" and "XOXO" text
Here are a few more detailed shots...
These are the cut files I used today ...
So, next time you use a cut file, take another look at the pieces remaining on your cutting mat. Just maybe, they will convince you too that they are worthy of being scrapped and not end up in your waste basket.
Thanks so much for stopping by today. If you are interested in the YouTube video of the XOXO layout here is a link...
Hello love, XOXO February 8, 2017 11:50
Donna here and I'm gonna be sharing my first layout for the month of February... didn't we just say hello to 2017?? Wow.. time flies surely fast.
For my page, I went to use the remaining set of photos I printed recently for a previous project (as in the last one I posted for Just Nick as well lol!). I didn't want the photos go to waste, so why not make another layout :)
I used the negative of the white cardstock as you can see here. Different patterned paper underneath made the cuts stand out. To make it more visible, I used a black pen to write inside the cut outs.
I cut the edges of the white cardstock approximately half an inch and used another paper as a mat or base to the whole layout.
I used one of the past Clique kits I have and some other Crate paper and Maggie Holmes in my stash
Cut file used: Love Actually
Thanks for dropping by!
Hugs | Tarrah McLean February 6, 2017 07:00
I used the cute Pink Paislee 'Pen Pals' collection to create this layout, one of my favourite things to do is to back cut files with all different patterned papers, this range was ideal to do this!
The cut file that I used on this layout is the Cross My Heart Background cut file found in the Just Nick store. I cut it from white cardstock and backed different patterned papers behind it. Once I had all the papers backed, I used some foam/3D tape to adhere the cut file to the background paper. I really like the dimension and shadow effect it gives to my page.
I scrapped a photo from last year of my 2 handsome sons! They are mostly best friends! As an added effect, I used some foam Thickers for my title and to embellish further!
One of the Pen Pals chipboard frames was a perfect addition to frame my photo and draw the eye in! Puffy stickers and chipboard stickers are great embellishments to enhance layouts.
