JustNick Studio, Cut Files, Traveler's Notebook, Make Waves

Hello Friends!!  I am always a little envious of summer break for my daughter.  As adults, we miss those days!  Today's post is documenting about swimming as our favorite way to enjoy Summer, but it is also to share how you can get two Traveler's Notebook spreads from the new TN Make Waves cut file.  Since we adults don't have Summer Breaks, making the most of our time in the craft room is a win/win for us!

Next week I will share the other half of this cut file in my notebook. For today, I'm using the right side.  How cool is that pattern.  I chose to cut this file out from a tone on tone pattern paper, and then backed it with a diagonally black and white pattern paper.  Just enough contrast, but not too much.  I make the cut file a tad bit bigger but not too much, and that way it gives me room to create a layered look under it before adhering to my notebook.

In planning this spread, I wanted to add a good bit of journaling about our Summertime favorite activity.  So I printed my photos small about 2x2.75, trimming them with just about a 1/4" inch of the white border.  I like the white border on photos to create some breathing room for the design.  Then I clustered die cuts and puffy stickers around the photos.  If you are very linear in your scrapbooking, clustering photos like this and tilting them is a good start in creating that carefree layered look.  The die cuts help to ground the photos.

I love seeing all that beautiful cut file above it and peeking underneath.  For my journaling, I decided to highlight it with a die cut frame.  I traced the inside opening of the frame on a separate piece of cardstock, then sent this through my typewriter to type my journaling, trimmed, stapled, and then adhered.

All I did to finish this page was add more of the same flower die cuts, and blue die cut with the saying and color to balance that blue from the left side to add more framing of the journaling.  I also added the year with same stamp that I used to stamp June on the left side die cut.

I will be back later this month using the second half of this same cut file.  I hope this shows you how simple and quick your creative time can be during the busy Summer months!
