Pretty Mandala - Nicole Nowosad February 19, 2020 07:00
Hi there Justnick fans! Nicole here today to share a mixed media project using our Pretty Mandala cut file
This cut file is so intricate and pretty, I couldn't resist creating a mixed media background to lay the design over.
The openness of the design allows the background to show through and create a pretty pattern for the background of my project.
I love how easy this page was to put together. Although the design will take a while to cut the time is worth it - just create your mixed media background while it cuts!
I hope you are inspired to cut this image out and give this a try!
Floral Heart - Nicole Nowosad February 8, 2020 07:00
Love is in the air! We have so many pretty valentine cut files available in the shop, but I wanted to use this delicate and pretty cut file for my page.
I love a good background cut file. It is THE easiest way to create a unique design for your project and depending on what you cut it from and what you do with it, can totally change what your page will look like each time.
I chose to cut this design from kraft cardstock and then fill it with pretty patterned papers by Simple Stories. I decided to add Distress Oxide inks to the cardstock background where the colors changed throughout my design.
I love the soft feeling that the ink behind the cut file creates on the page. I added some drops of ink along with a few gems throughout the open cut file design.
I wrapped some twine in and out o the cut file design and then popped the entire design from the page with foam adhesive.
I love how soft and pretty this cut file is, and I hope you do too!
Create your own title - Nicole Nowosad January 31, 2020 07:00
An alphabet cut file is a great investment. You can virtually create ANY title for your page, and even make it into a background if you want!
I used the Varsity Outline alpha cut file to create this design on my page.
I simply welded together the letters for the design on my page and increased the size of the words so that the largest O would fit my photo.
Cutting the title/background design from black cardstock adds a bold POP to the page to mix well with the patterned papers.
I hope you will give this technique a try! Check out the different alphabet cut files we have in the store and think of the possibilities!

14 Days of Giveaways - Day 13 | Morgan Langley December 13, 2017 07:00 2 Comments
Welcome to Day 13 of our 14 Days of Holidays cut file giveaways! Each weekday from December 1-14, 2017 we will be giving away a FREE cut file for that day only!
This cut file was SO fun to use! I cut the tags different sizes using a mix of kraft, white, and patterned card stock. Then I backed the cut outs with another scrap of paper and was ready to add some stitching accents!
On some of the tags I used a ruler to mark straight, different sized lines with a pencil and then stitched them, some I stitched around the image, others I stitched snowflakes, and a couple I did some french knot stitches!
I put thread or bakers twine through the hole of each tag and put adhesive so they would stay in position on my layout!
For my background I just sewed on some scraps of Christmas paper with my sewing machine using a mix of white and red threads. I added my photo and some wood snowflakes and Christmas trees and then the layout was complete!
Thank you for stopping by and make sure to get this file (HOLIDAY TAGS 2) today FREE with the code TAGFREE at checkout! Come back tomorrow for the 14th Day of giveaways!
14 Days of Giveaways - Day 7 - Cathy Martin December 7, 2017 07:05 2 Comments
Hi everyone I'm up on the blog today and I'm using this gorgeous Joyful cut file! Just for today you can get this cut file for free by using the code JOYFREE2 This really is a very lovely cut file, and even though it's part of Nicole's Christmas giveaway I decided to use it for a slightly different layout. I used it for a winter layout, with a picture that was taken at the end of January. Even the word Joy can be versatile, and if there is something that I cannot say enough about Nicole's cut files it is that they can be used in soooooo many ways!
For my layout I used a combination of products from the Snow and Cocoa collection as well as the Turn the Page collection. It might seem like a bit of a strange pairing but there were some overlapping color schemes that helped me bring in more colors than just pink and teal. I used the offset feature in Silhouette Studio to create an outline for the cut file. I then used patterned paper to cut out the outline and white paper for the middle. Propping it all up with foam gave just the right amount of dimension and interest! I am so happy with the simplicity and sense of wonder and joy that comes across through all the elements.
Thank you for joining me today and I hope you go and grab your free cut file, and don't forget to stop by each day for the next 7 days for more cut files and inspiration!

Today is a bittersweet day - we say goodbye to a few of our DT members who have been with us, but say hello and welcome to some new members of our team!

PageMaps round up! June 12, 2017 07:00
Did you have a chance to see all the projects our team created for our team up with PageMaps the past few weeks?
I had a chance to play along too and created this page using our File Folders, and Lowe Case Alphas cut files.
Cut files don't have to overtake your project. Yes, they can be the total focus of your page, but I wanted to use some cut files in a more minimal way on my project. I cut the file folders from a 6x6 paper pad and layered them behind my photo.
It adds a paper layer but with a little fun too right! I also added some co-ordinating paper strips around the edge of my page, I could have cut some stars on my digi machine, but went with glittery pre-made ones instead.
I finished the page off with the Lower Case Alphas cut file for my title on a quick diecut word bubble.
If you haven't already, check out the June PageMaps for all the sketches and takes our team did with them!

I haven't had a lot of mojo lately. Life just gets busy and sometimes sucks the scrappy life out of you, so I wanted to create a really simple page with no stress!
The Basic Block Background is super simple to fill. Those basic rectangles are clean and graphic and heck - you can use a lot of scraps to fill this one in if that's your plan!
I added a really simple title using the Word 4 cut file set and a lot of fussy cut flowers. Cutting those by hand relax me :)

That's it for me today! I will be back later in the week to share a FREEBIE and a new Guest Designer too! Please stop by!
Pinspiration | Hello Trouble May 11, 2017 07:00
Good morning!! Nicole here today to share a fun pinspiration project with you on the blog today!
Here was my inspiration piece that I found on Pinterest
Fun right! I love the colors and all those fun circles and so I chose to use Circle Background 3 for the circular portion of my page.
I quite simply punched a lot of circles and layered them behind the cut file. I used a pink and yellow color combo and added in some fussy cut flowers for some fun around my photo.
I really kept things simple and have even more ideas for this inspiration piece for another scrapbook page ! I hope you are inspired to incorporate some cut files into your projects!
Check out my process video for this project:

Hello Spring | Nicole Nowosad March 21, 2017 07:06
Good morning everyone! Nicole back on the blog today to share a simple spring page. It seems like it was forever ago that I had time to play with cut files, so I was excited to try out the Hello Spring cut file that is new to the store.
It's pretty obvious that I just backed my mega large title with a lot of pretty papers by Pink Paislee and used that as the focal part of my page.
I chose to just fussy cut out a whole bunch of pretty flowers from the patterned paper instead of die cutting. I really just simply loved these shapes - and why not! Just a few simple enamel dots and a little stamping around my title work completed the page quickly and simply too. Sometimes that is all we really need, right?
Cut file used: Hello Spring
Well, that is it for me today! I did create this page in a quick process video - so if you want to take a peek, here it is:
Thanks so much for stopping by and be sure to check the new designs in the store! New ones are added every week!
Simple Stories Team Up! October 22, 2016 16:00
Have you enjoyed our team up with Simple Stories this week?
I am in awe of all the amazing creations from both teams using our cut files and the Hello Fall collection from Simple Stories. As the lady who creates all these cut files, it is always a treat for me to see how others use them. I am always so excited when I spot one of our cut files used on a project (and we love you sharing them with us too!)
I had a chance to play along for this team up. I could hardly wait to rip into the Hello Fall collection and get started. But what cut files to use!? There were so many fall files I wanted to add in, so had to reign myself in a bit. I actually came up with 2 projects for this swap, as I just couldn't choose!
I really love all the pretty colors in this collection, and started out by diecutting a whole heck of a lot of leaves from various papers in the mini kit. I balanced it around a diecut scribble shape that was a freebie I made for Scrapbook and Cards Today magazine (download lots of my freebies HERE). I added in a light wash of some watercolor paint to the white background... it is quite light as I am trying to get the hang of them without being too heavy handed :)
I really love how easy it was to pair the diecuts from the store along with the diecut stickers from the Simple Stories collection. Looks like it was meant to be!
Next, I created this page with the Fall Y'All cut file. I love the scripty font mixed in with some leaves. It is pretty intricate, so I do recommend you cut it a little larger than normal (or use a super new blade)
I cut the title twice and layered the orange letters over the white grid to add a small layer of dimension and pop of color too! I backed the leaf with some scraps from the collection too, so the middle leaf wasn't so stark white.
I simply added in lots of Simple Stories loveliness from here - some stickers popped up, fussy cut leaves and a journaling card from the cut apart sheet. Love those! I love a good woodgrain paper and Simple Stories has a great set that I like to keep in my "background" paper stash.
That's it for me today - and our Team Up too! I want to thank Layle and all the talented ladies from Simple Stories (and our team) for sharing all their amazing projects this week!
Thank you all for stopping by and checking out our blog, Facebook page and Instagram! We appreciate all your support!
JustNick + Jillibean Soup = fun! August 25, 2016 07:00 4 Comments
Hey everyone! Nicole here today to share a fun about me project for our team up with my friends at Jillibean Soup
I am lucky enough to be on the Jillibean Soup team, and they are a great group of people. I love their products and truly create some of my most favorite projects with their products. I decided to do an about me page with a few cut files from the store.
I used the two new Jillibean Soup collections, Hardy Hodgepodge and Chit Chat Chowder on this page. I started by diecutting the title from various papers in both collections, using the Simple Set Alpha from the store. I love the playful and simple letters, and mixing the colours is lots of fun too!
Next, I wanted to fill the bottom of the page, but didn't want to use my typical background cut file, so I diecut a bunch of different labels from Labels One, again in varying papers from the Jillibean Soup collections.
I love how it all came together quickly, and colorfully too!
Cut files used:
Now for the fun stuff! Leave a comment here on this post, or over on the Jillibean Soup blog (or on our @justnickstudio instagram) and have a chance to win a $25 gift certificate to our store!
I hope you are enjoying this team up and all the fun projects that are being shared!

Good morning JustNick fans! It's been a while since I have been on the blog with a regular post! I am here to share a page with you using a couple of my favorite cut files from some newer designs in the store.
I really wanted to use the Delicate Florals cut file and so I started with that, along as a quote I found on Pinterest for my title.
I cut the flowers out of several Dear Lizzy papers and lined them along the bottom of my page in varying sizes.
I love the simplicity of the outline font with the flowy script font!

Fancy Pants Designs Week! May 25, 2016 07:00 1 Comment
Nicole here today to share with you a page I made for our team up with the fantastic folks from Fancy Pants Designs!
I used the new Life is Beautiful collection for my page, along with a couple different cut files from the store.
I started by cutting the Butterfly Background from a simple black & white dot paper from the collection and then cut some smaller butterflies from different papers in the 6x6 paper pad in the same collection. I added some pop dots behind the wings of the smaller butterflies and stitched the two together.
I also diecut a border strip from the Scallop Edge Strips set and then a title and embellishments from the Life Is Beautiful collection from Fancy Pants (a new favorite of mine)

Thanks for stopping by our blog today! Now, go head over to the Fancy Pants Designs blog HERE - I have another project up over there using some NEW Fancy Pants products and more of our cut files!
Remember November 11, 2015 07:00
This week's theme on the blog is all about remembrance. Today in Canada it is about Rememberance Day where we honour those who serve for our country.
My take on remberance for this post focuses on a time already too soon, when my babies were little! I recently took a whole bunch of older photos off some old layout (eek!) and decided to re-scrap one for this blog post.
I used two of our cut files for this page. The Remember cut file as well as a couple new file coming out soon - Lazy Daisies and Diamond background.
I cut all my designs from patterned paper - using a 6x6 paper pad for my flowers as well as some vellum and layered them all together.
I love how the flowers turned out! You won't have to wait too long for this file, it will be uploaded VERY soon :)
If you want to see how my process for this page came together, please check it out on my YouTube channel:

What's NEW Week! October 26, 2015 07:00
This week on the blog, we will be showing you WHAT'S NEW ! We will be using cut files that were uploaded to the store in October!
I am sharing a project today using one of my favorites from the October uploads Arrow Set 2:
I LOVE LOVE the arrows in this and wanted to use a whole whack of them on my page.
Quite simply, I cut various arrows from a 6x6 paper pad and arranged them on my page, along one edge of the page.
I love how one design can really add so much impact to your page AND the best part is that the page comes together quite quickly too! All I did was cut each arrow from the same paper, using 4 of the 6x6 sheets on one cutting mat. I only had to cut this design 2x through my machine to get all the arrows I needed ! Really, that was the easy part.
I created a process video for this page - if you would like to check it out here you go!

Yes, more cards :) October 8, 2015 07:00
I am back with a couple more cards using our cut files. Yesterday I shared a couple cards using various files from the store, today , I am going to use just backgrounds to create my cards.
I love this floral lace background and decided to cut it from white cardstock and simply layer it over a patterned paper.
It is a simple and subtle effect over the patterned paper background. From there, it was just all about embellishing with some twine, buttons and a simple stamped sentiment.
Next, I used the Circle Background 3 for to layer over patterned paper again on the bottom of my card.
Cutting the design from a lighter patterned paper gives it almost a lacey like feel on the card front.
Cut files used:
That's it for me today! Nice and simple cards using some of my favorite new cut files in the store! Last day tomorrow for card week... and then be on the lookout for new designs this weekend!

More CARD WEEK! October 7, 2015 07:00
I am excited to be back on the blog today for card week ! Although I usually use our cut files for layouts, I think they work amazing on cards too. It is so easy to resize the cut files to fit any size card you like to create a custom design.
I created this first card with the Pebble 2 background cut from a patterned paper and layered over another patterned paper. Using a 6x6 paper pad helps quickly co-ordinate the patterns so it's not too busy.
Next, I diecut the Pretty Patterned Background from some plain white cardstock and adhered it to a second piece of white cardstock for stability... then I went a little crazy with my watercolour paint set!
I added a smaller amount of watercolour paint to certain areas and more to others, to create an ombre like effect. I added some stamps from a Scrapbook and Cards Today Crop & Create Delivered kit from fall 2014. (which are AWESOME)
I love how you can completely customize a cut file to your own size, dimensions and even colour! See you tomorrow as I have a few more cards to share :)

Today Captured September 17, 2015 07:00
Hey everyone! I am excited to be back on the blog today, sharing a project made with this inspiration piece I found on Pinterest:
I love a good quilt. I wish I had the patience to make my own :) When I saw this quilt on pinterest, I instantly thought of the Positive backgrounds available in the store. I chose to use Positive Background 1 for my project.
I cut the file from some scrap cardstock and used it as a stitching template, rather than using the actual paper cut on my project. This took a little love and patience, but I like how it turned out :) I stitched the + signs with various colors of embroidery floss and then added some watercolor paint along the inside and outer edges of the + signs, adding some trimmed out + signs to some of the middles with patterned papers.
I really like how that turned out! Although I love using the cut files with paper and for paper, it's fun to use them in a different way too. I next cut a title using some words from the Hashtags 1 cut file and Capture This cut file. I cut the TODAY word 5 times and layered them together for a thicker look.
That's it for me today!! Please come back tomorrow for a special guest and there may just be a freebie in it for you :)
Back to school cards! September 8, 2015 11:04
I don't know about you - but I am secretly SUPER happy that my kids are back to school. We had a lot of fun together this summer, but sometimes routine is best :)
I thought I would grab a few designs from the store and make some back to school cards the younger kids teachers.
I used the Plaid background cut from some woodgrain Simple Stories paper for this card. I added a little diecut jewelry tag using the Jewelry Tags cut file. I used some dimensional foam adhesive to the back of the plaid cut file to add a little dimension to the card front.
Next up, I used the Simple Circle background to create this card:
I wanted to use some scraps of paper and this was a perfect cut file to do just that ! I just filled in some holes with a simple 1/2" circle punch and a 6x6 paper pad.
That's it for me! Make sure you stop by all week for more Back to School projects :)

Testing out Marquee letters! August 3, 2015 10:42
Last week, we loaded the Marquee Alphas to the store and I thought I would share a quick page I made using them today!
I simply enlarged the letters and added various enamel dots to most of the centers for some whimsy!
I used the stitched circle along the bottom of my page, and filled in the empty spaces with watercolor paints.
That's it for me today! This week the rest of the DT will be sharing projects all related to summer! Make sure you stop by to see them!
Just Plain Wonderful | Nicole Nowosad July 31, 2015 07:00
Today is the last day of our highlight on Floral week on the blog and I am finishing off with a project made with this floral background cut file:
I cut the design from simple white cardstock and then backed each "flower" with various patterns of paper.
The whole page came together quite quickly - once I chose the patterned paper, it was just a matter of adhering the papers to create my page!
I hope you have enjoyed all the floral creations on the blog this week - stay tuned tomorrow for the new designs being loaded to the store this weekend!
Right Now | Nicole Nowosad July 15, 2015 07:00
Good morning! All week we are sharing some projects using circular cut files from the store!
I chose this fun design to use on my page:
I decided to go big with this design for the title of my page.
I think the big design makes a big impact even though it is just cut from some simple cardstock.
I also used another circle cut file that will hit the store this weekend... wanna sneak??
Simple Circle Background ;)
Stay tuned this week on the blog for a guest + a freebie too!

XOXO June 30, 2015 07:00
Good morning!! It is my first post here on the blog with a project, and I couldn't help but NOT cut one of the cut files and use it as a sketched image instead.
I did this in my Silhouette Cameo and filled the XOXO background design with watercolor paints to create this page:
Once the design was sketched out and painted, the whole thing came together quickly!
I also had some white scribbles from Scribbles 1 precut and ran them through my typewriter to add some text. Once I finished that, I painted some gold mist on them in a few different spots. I really love how that turned out! It looks like a premade diecut shape!
I did a process video for this project - you can check it out on my YouTube channel HERE:
Well, that is it for me today! More to come on the blog this week as we share projects made with lots of backgrounds available in the store!
