You are | Niki Rowland March 27, 2019 07:00

Hey Just Nick fans! Niki here and I have something a bit different from me to share today.  I have used the very lovely 'You Are' cut file from the store. It's new and is completely gorgeous, perfect for documenting my lovely babies.
I cut the cut file out of thick Mixed Media style white card. I left it as a whole on the cutting mat. I then applied lots of mixed media paint. Once it was dry I peeled everything off the cutting mat.
I used the backing piece as a template over my background and and carefully pieced each letter back into the gaps, all raised up on foam pads. I then carefully peeled away the backing paper to reveal the coloured letters beneath!
I added in a photo cluster to the right and a smaller embellishment cluster to the bottom left.
I've used a mixture of Cocoa Vanilla Studio collections for this layout, mostly Boys Rule and also a little but of Midnight. I matched the mixed media paints to the Boys Rule collection.
Thank you so much for joining me today for this slightly different style of layout from me. Give this technique a try, it was great fun!

Bloom | Niki Rowland March 14, 2019 07:00

Hey there! Niki here today with this bright layout full of spiky flowers!
I've used the Spiky Flower cut file which is new to the store. It's just my style, modern and fun and I knew I could make a fab layout with it.
I cut the flower four times from different patterned papers. Before cutting I created an internal offset in my Silhouette Software and set the offset to be drawn with a black sketch pen. I did this to give the flowers some extra definition as sometime the impact of the cut files can be lost when cutting on patterned papers.

I cut them in different sizes too and then stuck them to my white background with foam pads. I actually backed the circles with white, so that I could overlap them without the other flowers showing through the gaps.
I added one sunny photo and lots of embellishments. I've used the Dear Lizzy New Day collection for this layout.
My title of 'bloom' is a Perspextive by Bramble Fox and I've used a couple of green leaf sprays by them too.
I carried on the doodled feel of the flowers by doodling a border around the edge of the layout.
I love the way this layout turned out, it's so bright and full of colour...such a happy fun feel to it!
Grab that Spiky Flower and go crazy with colour like I did!

You Have my Heart | Niki Rowland February 28, 2019 07:00

Hi there! Niki here today with another love themed layout. I've used two files from the store to create this layout: Heart Background 8, which is a very beautiful delicate file, and Lots of Love 2.
I cut the Heart Background 8 from an irridescent glitter paper. This can be tricky to cut, especially with such a fine cut file but it actually cut through really well. I very carefully peeled the hearts off the mat and stuck it onto a piece of white card. I then stuck all the internal hearts in...so this took a little while!
Once the Heart Background was in place, I then cut the Lots of Love 2 file in black card and stuck this onto the background. I raised it up on foam pads. At this point my background was complete so I could get on with making the rest of my layout!
I've used Crate Paper LaLaLove for this layout so I added lots of hearts and embellishments from that collection. I created a title out of Thickers in multi fonts.
Thank you so much for joining me today and happy scrapping xx

Hugs & Kisses | Niki Rowland February 6, 2019 07:00

Hi guys! Niki here today with this love-filled layout! I've used the fabulous 'Hugs & Kisses' file which is new to the store. I've cut it from pink patterned paper.
I backfilled all the letters using patterned papers. I have used the Dear Lizzy New Day collection for this which isn't a Valentines collection but it had some great colours and some fabulous hearts in it!
The patterned papers are quite busy so the phrase isn't quite as clear as I could like so I added the same words again using Perspextives.
I embellished the layout with lots of embellishments and I fussy cut out lots of the cute little hearts from this collection.
The Hugs & Kisses cut file is available in the store and is totally fabulous for all things Valentine but also for using with photos of people you hug & kiss!

My Heart is Full Layout by Niki Rowland

This is Me | Niki Rowland January 11, 2019 07:00

Hi everyone, Niki here today and welcome to 2019!
Our assignment this week was to create a layout about or 2019 goals or 'all about me'. I chose the 2nd option and went for a layout about myself.
I've used the totally awesome 'Distressed Alphabet' set in the store. I created four words using this alphabet and welded the letters together in the Silhouette Software.  I then cut them from woodgrain paper by Heidi Swapp.
The quote is a line from a Movie song - The Greatest Showman. I changed it slightly to fit a layout about myself ('I am bruised' I changed to 'I am free'). The Greatest Showman is a big hit in our household and we're always singing this song so I thought I would use it but it needed that small change to work for me.
I really love the Distressed Alphabet - the letters are really cool and have created a very interesting looking title.
I used alphabet stickers to add the rest of the quote around the words and then embellished with lots of layers behind my photo and a few embellishments by Pebbles and Pink Paislee.
I added machine stitching through the alphabet stickers to stop them from falling off, and handwrote in my story. Even though these aren't my go-to colours, I like the way the layout turned out.
I have created a process video for this layout which can be viewed below.
Thanks so much for joining me today, happy scrapping xx

Thankful for You | Niki Rowland November 20, 2018 07:00

Hi Just Nick Fans, Niki here today to share a 'thankful' layout. We don't celebrate Thanksgiving in the UK but it still gets me thinking each year about what I am thankful for. I had a baby three months ago and he took much longer to come along than we had hoped and I am therefore so very thankful for him in our lives.
I've used the absolutely gorgeous Mandalla Leaf for this layout. This amazing cut file was new to the store im September and I've been itching to use it ever since.
I cut the Mandalla Leaf out of an ombre sheet of patterned paper. The collection I've used is Indigo Hills 2 by Pinkfresh Studio. I cut the leaf from the centre of the paper and used the edge of the sheet as a page border.
I attached the very beautiful leaf to my layout and added stitched details around the edge of the layout. I wanted to keep the layout quite minimal in order for the focus to stay on the leaf, ie I didn't want to cover too much of it up!
I used a small photo of me and my baby boy framed with ephemera and layered with a chipboard frame. I clustered my photo within the leaf and added my embellishments around the photo.
I added a small title with teeny alphabet stickers from the same collection and machine stitched through them.
I hope you enjoyed this layout - definitely try out this cut file, it is so very beautiful.
Happy scrapping xx

Sing | Niki Rowland August 13, 2018 07:00

Hi Just Nick Fans! Niki here today with this layout using the 'Screen Background' cut file that is quite new to the store. When I saw it I immediatly thought it would work brilliantly cut in black and used as an overlay on a patterned paper...and that's exactly what I did!
I used a bright coloured patterned paper from the Shimelle Box of Crayons Collection - the black spots also helped bring the overlay and the patterned paper together. When I placed the Screen Background straight onto the patterned paper it didn't quite look right, so I gutted the middle of the paper, put a white sheet over the frame and then stuck the gutted piece back on - basically this added a layer of white and also gave me somewhere to write my journaling :)
I added my photos at the top in a big cluster and added lots of small embellishments in the squares of the grid. I attempted to embellish using the colour-on-colour method but didn't manage it perfectly but I still like the look!
I loved how this layout turned out, especially as it isn't my usual style of using a white background! The Ed Sheeran concern we were at was edgy and full of colour and that's the feel I hope I've achieved with this layout  - awesome!
Thanks so much for joining me today, I hope you've enjoyed my layout - check out the Screen Background in the store. Happy scrapping xx

Shape of You | Niki Rowland August 9, 2018 07:00

Hiya! Niki here today with this layout which documents a recent night out with my hubby at an Ed Sheeran concert. I cut those circles using the Funky Piecharts cut file in the store, out of a brightly coloured patterned paper by Shimelle Box of Crayons. I was careful to cut only in the middle of the paper so I could preserve the edge to use as a border for my layout.
I cut six of the piecharts and arranged them onto a white background. I added my three photos on top and it was at this point I added my title - I used Thickers and wrote out the name of the most popular Ed Sheeran song. This worked perfectly given the shapes on the layout and that the photos feature me and my husband.
I added lots of stars (for star quality) and lots of shapes - arrows, triangles, hearts, more stars, circles etc There are so many tiny details on this layout!
I added my journaling, around the edge of one of the Funky Piecharts too.
The layout turned out really well and I love the result - I hope you've enjoyed joining me today. Happy scrapping xx

By the Sea | Niki Rowland July 23, 2018 07:00

Hey there Just Nick fans, Niki back with you today and today I've used the 'By the Sea' cut file from the store to document my daughter's trip to the sea with her school friends. I love this picture of them with their dresses all tucked into their underwear, soooo cute (I wonder what age you need to stop doing that?)
I've used the sun, shells and 'by the sea' words from the By the Sea cut file. I arranged the different elements onto a white background and sent it to cut. Rather than the individual pieces I wanted to use the whole sheet as a background.
Once cut I backfilled the sun with yellow paper, the shells with a few different papers and the 'by the sea' words with blue paper. I trimmed down the background and mounted it onto a paper that reminded me of the sea.
Once backfilled, I then stuck back in place all the little bits from the letters and the sand dollar shell - this is a great little tip to keep the cut files looking how they were intended to look.
I then added my photo on the left side along with loads of embellishments which I love to pile on. I added lots of little details along the bottom too where the words and shells are.
I then added these acrylic words by a UK company called Bramblefox as they were TOTALLY perfect for this layout. I don't have many sea photos so just had to get these used here.
I balanced out the large photo cluster on the left with a smaller embellishment cluster on the right. I've mostly used one of last year's collections for this layout (Carousel by Maggie Holmes) so it feels great to use up some older stash too.
Thank you so much for joining me today with this very summery layout, happy scrapping xx

One Hot Mess | Niki Rowland July 11, 2018 07:00

Hi Just Nick Fans! I'm Niki (@nikiclaire on Instagram) and I'm delighted to be back on the Just Nick team for another year.
I live in the UK with my husband and two children, Sophie aged 7 and Max aged 5 who are often the subject of my scrapbook layouts. I'm also due to have another baby, a boy, in 5 weeks time who will also, no doubt, be documented in great detail on my layouts too :)
I scrapbook nearly every day and love to use large bold elements on my layouts. I love bright colours and love to pile on the embellishments to create an interesting and dimensional look. I'm never fussy about what products I use and love to be challenged and the more random the better!
For this layout I decided to document the heat wave we are having in the UK at the moment - this is quite a rare occurance and at 32 weeks pregnant (when the photo was taken), I'm struggling a bit to cope with the heat and it just feels like it is never going to end! We aren't used to super hot temperatures in the UK so don't have any air conditioning so at the moment I really am one hot mess!!!
I used the swirly sun from the Summer cut file which I cut really big from white card. I then mounted this, raised up on foam pads, onto a patterned paper background - something that is a little out of my comfort zone as I usually go for white backgrounds.
The swirly sun was acts as the background to my layout and I then built a photo cluster on top over to the left side. I added chipboard triangles in between each of the sunrays for extra effect.
I added my title and another embellishment cluster on the right side to balance out the photo cluster and handwrote my journaling around the middle swirly part of the sun cut file.
Thank you so much for joining me today, I hope you've enjoyed meeting me and seeing my layout. Happy scrapping xx

Hip Hip Hooray | Niki Rowland June 28, 2018 07:00

Hey there! Niki back today with another layout using a background file and the new Boys Rule collection by Cocoa Vanilla. I've used the Imperfect Polka Dot Background, but instead of using it as a whole background, I deleted some of it first so the design was left at the top only. I actually also re-sized it too so that my dots were a bit smaller, and then I backfilled all those dots with papers from the Boys Rule Collection.
I backfilled all the dots with papers raised on foam pads to give my background lots of dimension, I wanted to focus on blues and greys in this layout so avoided the green tones in the collection.
I decorated the background using lots of enamel dots and other small embellishments and I used journaling cards and ephemera to build my photo stack.
I extended the embellished areas down below my photos and added more enamel dots to link the top part of the background with the rest of the layout.
Thanks so much for joining me today, I hope you've enjoyed my layout and what will you try with background cut files?
Happy scrapping xx

Cheers | Niki Rowland June 15, 2018 07:00

Hi there Just Nick Fans! It's Niki here with you today and I have a layout to share using the Funky Rectangle Background 2 cut file from the store.
I've been dying to get my hands on the new Cocoa Vanilla Boys Rule collection ever since it was announced and it has finally arrived - hooray! I went looking for a cut file that was a bit edgy and funky and the Funky Rectangle Background was just the thing! I deleted some of the design so that I only had a small portion of it on the left side of the layout and then cut it from white card.  I then backfilled it with papers from the Boys Rule collection
I hand drew in some doodle frames around some of the rectangles and then built the rest of my layout on top of the funky background. I've used lots of ephemera and chipboard from that same paper collection.
I added in some stamped details (in absence of my sewing machine which wasn't accessible at the time) and finished off with some sequins and some drips of black Indian Ink.
Thanks so much for joining me today, what cut files will you use this week?
Happy scrapping, Niki xx

Happy | Niki Rowland May 31, 2018 07:00

Hey there Just Nick Fans! Niki here today and I have a pretty layout to share using the gorgeous Floral Burst Background cut file from the store.  I made the flower as big as I could and cut it from white card.
Once cut, I backfilled each petal with different papers from the Bohemium Dream 6x6 paper pad - I love the smaller patterns for backfilling cut files :)
Once the flower was filled with beautiful colours, I positioned it at the top of my layout and then embellished the rest of the layout with lots of ephemera, cascading down to my title at the bottom.
I love to add lots of details to my layouts so have piled on the embellishments and little bits and pieces. I finished off with a few purple splatters.
Thanks so much for joining me today, what cut files will you use next time?
Happy scrapping xx

Our Crazy Monster | Niki Rowland May 15, 2018 07:00 1 Comment

Hi there Just Nick Fans! Niki here with you today with this layout I made about my crazy little boy. He is my little monster through and through and I've wanted to make a layout for ages with the Happy Little Monsters cut file - I'm glad I finally got around to doing it!
I have used two cut files from the Store today, Happy Little Monsters but also the Handcut Letters. This font is one of my favourites.
I started off by cutting the monsters out of different coloured patterned papers. I've used a slightly older collection, Pink Paislee Wild Child as it had some great boy-ish colours. I cut the monsters, then backfilled them with white/black card to add definition. I also added some extra definition where necessary, simply with a black journaling pen.
I then used the Handcut Letters set to create the word 'monster' which I then welded together. I backfilled each letter in the same colours I used to cut the monsters.
Thanks so much for joining me today, I hope you've enjoyed my monster layout!
Happy scrapping xx

Rain Rain Go Away | Niki Rowland April 21, 2018 07:00

Hi again! Niki here today with another layout and this time I'm using the Cloudy Day background cut file which is new to the store and I've also used 'Hooray for Spring'.
I started off by cutting the Cloudy Day background file from white card. I then backfilled all the clouds using an ombre sheet of paper from the Cocoa Vanilla Bohemium Dream collection.
I put my back filled cut file onto a striped background and carried the cloud theme all the way through the layout by adding lots and lots of clouds...wood veneer clouds, cloud stickers, a cloud paper clip, cloud stamps!
I also backfilled the word 'Rain' from the Hooray For Spring set, again with a Cocoa Vanilla paper and used that as part of my title. I added the rest using glittery Thickers.
I've totally been loving using the new cloud cut files in the store - I have so many rainy day photos at the moment so these have been perfect!
Happy scrapping xx

Spring Showers | Niki Rowland April 11, 2018 07:00

Hey Just Nick Fans! Niki here with you today and I'm working with the totally awesome 'Rainy Days' cut file that's new to the store. I love the cuteness of this file and we've had so much rain lately in the UK that I have plenty of rainy and umbrella photos to scrap!
I've also used the Hooray for Spring set, also new to the store. I've used the word 'Spring' for this layout although I will definitely be using all the other files in this set on layouts coming soon no doubt!
I've predominatly used one of the new Pinkfresh collections - these usually make me think of spring and this collection definitely did with the colour palette. However I didn't quite have enough so went looking in my scraps to find papers with similar colours to back fill the clouds.
I cut the word 'Spring' in white and was worried that it wouldn't show up against a white background, especially as it was a bit thin to raise up on foam pads, but I needn't have worried, even stuck flat it shows well and is actually a really lovely white on white effect.
I embellished the layout with ephemera from the Pinkfresh collection.
How cute are those clouds and raindrops!
I hope you've enjoyed my layout today - I really loved working with both of those cut files which can be downloaded from the store now.
Happy scrapping xx

Where the Fun Stuff Happens | Niki Rowland March 19, 2018 07:00

Hey there, Niki back here with you today with a new layout featuring a new cut file to the store, called the Crossed Path Background. When I first saw this cut file I immediately wanted to give it a try.
I was going to cut this on white card but last minute decided to cut it from a sheet of coloured paper. I choose one of the gorgeous ombre sheets from the new Paige Evans Pick Me Up collection. I then raised it up on foam pads and put it onto a white background.
The cut file cut a border too so I stuck this around the edge of my layout, giving me the perfect border. I created a photo cluster in the bottom left corner and spread that out across the bottom of the layout using ephemera.
I made lots of little embellishment clusters and then handwrote my journaling in around the edge.
This cut file was a little bit crazy for my usual style but I'm glad I pushed myself out of my comfort zone becuase I'm super happy with the result!  Thanks for joining me today, happy scrapping xx

Darling | Niki Rowland March 10, 2018 07:00 7 Comments

Hey there Just Nick Fans! Niki here with you today with another layout featuring hearts...my favourite!
This background cut file is called 'Hearts a Flutter Background' and I fell in love with it as soon as I saw it.
I choose a multicoloured piece of Paige Evans Pick Me Up paper to cut this gorgeous file from and then mounted it onto a white card background and used the remainder of the sheet to give my layout a coloured background.
Once my Hearts a Flutter Background was in place I added some stitching with my sewing machine and then began to create the cluster around my photo.
I made several other embellishment clusters too and finished off with some gold splatters and some of the tiny puffy stickers from the Pick me Up Collection.
I hope you enjoyed my layout today, I loved this cut file sooooo much! Happy scrapping everyone xx

Ugly & Bright by Niki Rowland February 27, 2018 07:00

Hey there, Niki here today and I have a confession to make: I'm still scrapping my Christmas photos!  There were so many fantastic files released by Just Nick during the 14 Day Giveaway at the beginning of December and I haven't had time to use them all yet!
Today I'm using the Ugly Sweater Background, which I happen to think isn't so ugly. I cut the top two thirds of the file onto white card and then raised that up onto a blue snowy background. I embellished the background with red star gems and built the rest of my layout in a cluster.
I've used lots of embellishments by Freckled Fawn and a few other random bits from different collections, and a flair badge I made myself.
The cut file raised on foam pads gives the layout plenty of dimension and depth making the Ugly Sweater Background file really pop.
Thanks so much for joining me today - who else is still scrapping their Christmas photos?? Happy scrapping xx

Love You by Niki Rowland February 6, 2018 07:00

Hi there Just Nick Fans! Niki here with you today with a love themed layout and today I'm celebrating the love of my gorgeous girl. I completely fell in love with this new cut file to the store, Heart Background 4 - it's awesome, I love those divided hearts and  knew instantly that I had to cut this out of a nice bright paper to give it justice.

I chose a very busy and colourful paper from the Crate Paper Main Squeeze collection and cut the Heart Background 4 from it, almost as big as I could go! I've then raised it up on foam pads and built up the rest of my layout at the bottom in a cluster.
I embellished the top part of the cut file with fussy cut hearts and pretty glittery stickers and I finished off with a few acrylic hearts
I totally loved working with this cut file, it's so gorgeous and was perfect for the layout I wanted to make. Thanks for joining me today and happy scrapping xxx

Power by Niki Rowland January 20, 2018 11:24

Hey there Just Nick Fans! Niki here with you today with a layout using the 'Gamer' cut file available in the store. I love sets like these as they come with lots of different files to play with.
I used my sketch pens to draw the battery symbol several times on the left side of my white background. I coloured these in using water colour paints. I wanted to use the word 'power' but the set didn't come with that word so I went looking for a similar font to draw that with my sketch pens too.
I also cut out the robot and the speech bubble from white card. I backfilled these with patterned papers. I've used the Good Vibes Collection by Crate Paper.
I also coloured in the word 'power' with my water colour paints and used the paints to make splatters on my layout.
I built the rest of the layout using the papers and emphemera from the Good Vibes collection.
I had such fun making this boy style layout, I love the robot cut file! Even though my boy isn't a 'Gamer' just yet (becuase he's only 4), this set of files still worked really well for a page all about robots :)
Thank you so much for stopping by today to see my layout, what are you working on right now?

Be Happy Layout | Niki Rowland December 30, 2017 07:00 1 Comment

Hey there Just Nick Fans! Niki here with you today with a new layout using the Funky Rectangles Background 2 cut file which is a new one and can be found in the store.
I cut the background onto a piece of white card, but didn't cut the bottom row so that I had a large white border at the bottom of my layout.
I trimmed my white card down so it was around 11.5" square, and put the cut file over the top of a very busy patterned paper so that the very busy pattern showed through the Funky Rectange Background 2 cut file - that pattern looks awesome!
I've used the new Crate Paper Good Vibes collection for this layout, I just love the happy colours.
I hope you've enjoyed my layout today - what will you make with this file?

Thankful for Us by Niki Rowland November 23, 2017 07:00

Hi again! Niki here today with a 'thankful' layout. We don't have Thanksgiving here in the UK so this was a bit of a challenge for me but I am still thankful for many things, most of all my crazy family, so it was nice to write about how thankful I am for them.
I've used the Many Thanks cut file from the store, which has lots of Thankful sayings.
I cut two of the files from this set: Thankful and Grateful, both from white card.
I positioned these at the top and bottom of my layout. I added clusters around them and when I was happy with the positoning, I stitched them both through with machine stitching.
I added my photo and the word 'Love' and finished off the title at the top with extra alphabet stickers. I also extended the title at the bottom with the word 'heart' plus some smaller alphabet stickers too. I stitched through these too.
I finished off by writing my journaling and I also added some gold Heidi Shime and some sequins.
Even though this layout is really simple, I enjoyed working 'white on white' and keeping things to a minimum. My layouts are usually full of colour but I wanted to keep a serene tone to this layout which I think I've just about done.
Thanks for stopping by to see me, happy scrapping xx

Sweet by Niki Rowland November 11, 2017 07:00

Hey there Just Nick Fans! Niki here today with this layout using the super gorgeous Leaf Background 2 cut file from the store.
I opened it up in my Silhouette Software, released the compound path, and then deleted the two side triangles. I then cut the remaining part of the design out of white card. I absolutely fell in love with the resulting cut.
I backfilled both of the large triangles with papers from the My Minds Eye Blush collection. The copper colour (rose gold?) tones within this collection made it perfect for Autumn photos of my lovely girly - there she is, up a tree lol
Once the main background was complete, I added my photo and then added embellishments tot he right side. I picked up on the triangles and added lots of triangle stickers.
This layout isn't quite as packed full as my usual style, as I was challenging myself to use only a collection pack and white card, and I really love the result, sometimes less is more right?
Thanks so much for stopping by and I hope I've given you some inspiration to attempt altering some of your cut files sometimes - go on be brave!
Happy scrapping xx

Looking Sharp by Niki Rowland October 30, 2017 07:00

Hi Everyone, Niki here with you today with a summery layout using the Cactus Jack cut file from the store. I've had this photograph of my kiddies with the biggest cactus we've ever seen since July and have just been waiting for the perfect thing to come along to scrap it with... the Cactus Jack cut file was just the thing!
I started off by cutting all four of the cactus plants out of white card and then backfilled with different papers from the Crate Paper Oasis collection.
I then arranged them onto my layout to create a background. I added my photo and then got embellishing, with as many cactus embellishments I could find!
I added a title of 'Looking Sharp' with teeny alphabet stickers within the big cactus and finished off with some gold Heidi Shine along the bottom.
There is a process video of this layout which can be viewed below.
Thanks so much for joining me today, I hope you enjoyed my very summery layout at this time of year! Happy scrapping xx

Dream Chaser by Niki Rowland October 8, 2017 07:00

Hi there Just Nick fans, Niki here with you today with a fall themed layout and I have used the Leafy Background 2 cut file. Fall (or Autumn as we refer to it in the UK) is really not my thing. I'm not a fan of Autumn colours and particularly dislike brown so Autumn layouts are always challenging for me! But I do love a challenge so set about making a fall layout that I liked and remained true to my usual style. I went though all my collections and finally decided upon gold as a colour scheme and pulled out two sheets of paper from the new Paige Evans collection Turn the Page.
I backed the leaves with one sheet of the paper which had an ombre effect. I didn't have much of this paper left so had to be careful with how I used it to back my leaves. I embraced the ombre effect of the paper and have backed my leaves with the light shades at the top and the darker shades towards the bottom.
I have prepared a process video so that you can see my process of making this layout below:
Once my leaves were backed, I applied some gold spritz to the white background and added my leaves on top. I mounted the layout on another autumnal paper from the Turn the Page collection. And then I set about embellishing the layout with anything I could find in my stash that was gold or yellow in colour.
I finished off by adding some fussy cut flowers to some of the flowers on the cut file.
So even though fall really isn't my thing, I totally embraced the theme and have made a layout I love and is completely true to my style - and there's hardly any brown in sight!
Thanks so much for stopping by to check out my layout and video, happy scrapping xxx

Crazy Betsy by Niki Rowland September 30, 2017 07:00

Hi! Niki here with you today and I am making a layout with the Paws to my Heart Background. Now I am not a doggy person at all, so never thought I'd use this file but my father-in-law has just got a new puppy and we went to visit...so here I am doing a doggy layout! This cut file is super-cute with all those paw prints and hearts.

I started off by choosing a background and then I filled each one of those paw prints with a different paper. I used the new swatch books in Paige Evan's collection to do that, they were the perfect size.
Once each paw was filled, I then arranged my photo and cut file onto the layout. I stitched around the edge of the layout using my sewing machine and yellow threat and added lots of bits and pieces of ephemera, stickers and small embellishments.
I also added a title with alphabet stickers and stitched through those too as they seem to fall off a lot!  I finished off with some tiny sequins and handwrote in my journaling.
I have put together a process video for you to watch too.
Thank you so much for stopping by to see my layout, happy scrapping xxx

Follow your Dreams by Niki Rowland September 11, 2017 07:51

Hi there! Niki here with you today using a gorgeous word cut file from the store, called Dream Big. This file contains three phrases which are just so lovely. I used the Follow Your Dreams one to create a very large back-filled title for my layout.
I cut my very large title in white and then back-filled each letter using papers from the Dear Lizzy Lovely Day 6x6 paper pad. The smaller scale designs are wonderful for this and I love the result of seeing almost a whole collection in one place.
The photographs are of my daughter at sports day - she's not a natural athlete and absolutely tried her hardest and practically flew around the track that day!
I used a whole sheet from the same collection to frame my layout and kept the embellishment quite minimal due to the amount of patterns already on the layout.
Thank you so much for stopping by today and checking out my layout, happy scrapping xx

Dream Big & Impossible Things by Niki Rowland August 31, 2017 07:00

Hey there! Niki here with you today sharing a layout and process video using the Bamboo background which is quite a new file in the store and the Floral Frames which is another gorgeous file.
I began by cutting part of the Bamboo Background in the centre of some white cardstock. I then backed that with one multicoloured piece of patterned paper.
I also backed my floral frame with patterned papers - both the aperture of the frame as well as the flowers. I used this as part of my stack for my photo.
Once the frame was backed and the background was sorted I then began building my layout using lots of ephemera, stickers and embellishments from the paper collection I was using - Pinkfresh Studio Dream On.
There is a process video for this layout available to view below and on my YouTube channel.
I hope you have enjoyed my layout today, the Bamboo Background is great to use and those floral frames are so delicate and pretty. Try them out!

Dino Friends by Niki Rowland August 2, 2017 07:00 2 Comments

Hi there! Niki here with you today with a fun layout, all about a little boy, using quite a new file in the store, called Before Time. It has three dinosaurs and two dino footprints.
I have filmed a process video on this layout which you can watch below:
I started off my arranging the T-Rex and footprints onto a background and I cut these from white card. I then back-filled these using papers from a slightly older collection: Cool Kid by Crate Paper. It features dinosaurs so was completely perfect!
I back-filled all the footprints with different papers from the same collection and then added my photos. I then started work on my title. I used the Lower Case Outline Alpha to create the title and I also back filled this using papers from the collection too.
I love this font, it is very friendly and makes for great titles.
Once I'd finished my title, I could then embellish the layout using embellishments from the same collection and other bits from my stash.
This was a really fun layout to create and the cut files work so great to document a little boy with a love for dinosaurs - so cute.
Thanks so much for stopping by, happy scrapping

Summer | Niki Rowland July 21, 2017 07:00

Hi! Niki back with you today with another bright and summery layout I've created using the 'Summer' cut file from the store.
For my layout I have used the SUMMER word file but was also totally inspired by the Sunshine sun-burst file within this set too. Instead of cutting it, I drew a sunburst onto my white card and coloured it in using yellow and orange water colour paint. This ended up being the basis of my layout.
I cut the word SUMMER on my Silhouette from white card, and backfilled it with as many bright, bold and busy patterns as I could - I do love a bright layout!
I have put together a process video which shows how I made it,
please go ahead and watch below
I added flicks of water colour paint to my starburst and once dry, added faux stitching with a grey pen. I had two reasons for this - first, that the starburst looked like it needed a little extra definition, and second, that my pencil lines were really showing through the yellow paint!
I raised my title on foam pads and used stickers from the Summer Dreams sticker sheet to add embellishments to my layout. I also used a number of other embellishments including washi tape stickers, chipboard words and phrases, sequins and enamel dots.
I'm really happy with how my layout turned out. Some of my favourite cut files to use are open-alphabet fonts so the word SUMMER from the Summer cut file set was perfect for me.

So Much Fun | Niki Rowland July 3, 2017 07:00

Hey there, Just Nick fans! Niki here with my first layout made for Just Nick and I'm so happy to be on the team!
So I've used the Scribble Circle Spots cut file that's new to the store and I cut it so it would fill almost half of my page. I cut it from white cardstock.
I've added lots of colour using inks and the packaging technique to my background and have then placed the Scribble Circle Spots cut file on top, raised up on foam pads.
I then had fun adding my photo and lots of embellishments and finished off with some handwritten journaling and some pretty washi tape.
I have prepared a process video to watch - I hope you enjoy it x
Here are a few close up shots of the detail - I've used lots of stickers from the collection kit I was using, as well as chipboard word stickers, enamel dots (lots!), sequins and some fun acetate speech bubbles
Thank you so much for stopping by to see my layout and my video, I hope you enjoy what I've created and that you get colourful too!
