This Year 2020 | Majken Pullin January 1, 2020 07:00

Hello to you all, and a very happy new year to you!  Majken here to share the very first JustNick Studio project of 2020, and I have a different take on a scrapbook layout.  In fact, it's a bit of a combination of a layout and a bullet journal.  I decided to create a layout where I will keep track of new things I do throughout this new year.  So rather than traditional journaling, I'll be adding new things I try or do during 2020.  Let's take a closer look.

I used three different cut files.  I first used Silhouette Studio to roughly lay out my cut files to see how I was going to approach the page. I started with the brand new "This Year", added numbers from the "Banner Essentials" to create the year, and added "Polaroids" to see how I'd add my sections.  You can see I didn't follow it exactly, but it helps to see how to size the cut files before cutting and decide what papers I'll use for the cuts.

I decided to use the Simple Stories Oh Happy Day collection because of the great color!  After cutting all of the cut files, I layed them out on white cardstock and decided I needed some water color behind the 2020 for some mixed media interest.  I used Distress Inks, water colors, and Lindy's shimmer spritz for some shine.

Cutting "this year" in black cardstock really helps it pop!  I also used a Sakura Gelly Roll Stardust pen to help those polka dots in the year sparkle, and I outlined the numbers with a black pen.

Even though this isn't a "typical" layout, I added a recent photo of myself and added in some stickers, enamel dots, and ephemera for some additional interest.

I backed the negative space in the Polaroid cuts with black cardstock so they'd stand out.

I'm going to capture new restaurants, new books, new movies, and events I attend (like concerts, sports events, etc.) in 2020.  This helps me look forward to the new year!  :)

I'm so glad you joined me on this New Year's Day.  I hope you're inspired to create something to track your fun in 2020, too.  May your year be happy, healthy, and full of love.

Hello everyone.  I love a good challenge and this one is no exception.  If you've been following along this week, you know that Nicole challenged a few of us to use 4 or more cut files for our project.  She makes that easy peasy with her amazing designs.

Cut Files used: Dreamcatcher 1PolaroidsShattered AlphaScript FontSweater Weather

How to: Use the Dreamcatcher 1 file as a guide to create a stitching path. Stitch the Dreamcatcher with embroidery floss.  Add stitched lines for the hanging feathers. Cut feathers and adhere to the page. Create the title using a combination of the Script Font and Shattered Alpha font. I welded the script font together. Cut a polaroid frame. Add layers and your photo.

Hello JustNick friends!

Marcia here today to share my latest layout using some fabulous JustNick cut files. I was drawn to the Sunshine & Happiness cut file since my husband and I recently returned from a short weekend getaway to the Apostle Islands in Lake Superior. We found a gorgeous beach on Madeline Island to spend the day. Here is how my layout turned out ...

The Twilight Zone Background was perfect to draw the eye to the focal point of my layout, a large photo that I centered in the middle.

I framed a couple of wallet photos using two of the Polaroid frames. I love how these turned out.

Here are the cut files that I used ...
