Adorable Keychains! | Morgan Langley June 26, 2018 07:00
Hey crafty friends! Today I am using the cut files a little bit different and incorporating these wooden beads I found at the Dollar Store to make these adorable keychains or charms or a mini album or scrapbook!
I used the cut files "Spring Doodle Flowers", "Cactus Jack", and some extra hearts from "Hearts 2" that I used in my last mini album project.
I tied a knot at the end of my embroidery floss, strung my beads, decorated my 1 1/2 end circle with the cut files, paper punched holes in the bottom and top of the circle to string it onto the floss, and then tied on the keychain loop or mini binder ring!

Free Spirit | Nathalie DeSousa May 14, 2018 07:00
Nathalie with you today, bringing you a bit of inspiration using the lovely JustNick Studio cut files. The weather has finally changed here in Canada, and Spring is in full swing. This is time for new beginnings, clear starts which inspired me to create this page about my little Goddaughter.
I had been eyeing the Mandalla background 1 for a while now, and decided to use it to create the background for this page. I chose to only cut a circle shape filled with the cutfile, so that it would pop off the page.
The negative part of the cut out was backed with the Royal paper from Maggie Holmes Flourish collection, and then followed by a large circumference of hand stitching -this just enhances the circle cut out-.
The cut out was then propped on the layout using a bit of foam squares. I placed the picture in the lower corner of the layout, and create a large cluster of flowers (all from the Flourish collection) around its bottom corner.
To create the title of this page, I used the Free Spirit cut file to cut the sentiment twice from white cardstock. Then the two cut outs were glued together, and a bit of gold watercolor was added on top of the words. These were then glued to the top of the circumference of the circle cut out.
Love how fast an easy was to put this page together. The delicate background brings lots of elegance to a simple every day picture. Hope this inspire you to check all the JustNick Studio digital cut files. There are so many new designs being added every week.
Thankful for Mom | Morgan Langley May 6, 2018 07:00
Hey crafty friends! Today I am sharing a post for mom's week on the Just Nick blog using the "floral frames" cut file!
I love ALL the beautiful floral cut feels in the shop and all of them make great spring layouts! I started by cutting my frames and backing them with patterned papers from the "Turn the Page" collection. I love how much color this adds. I also watercolored my plain white background before adhering the frames with the packaging technique and some splatters! I tried to match the paint to colors in the collection!
Stitched Clouds | Morgan Langley March 21, 2018 07:00
Hey guys! Today I am sharing a layout I created using the "Cloudy Day" cut file!
First I cut my file on card stock, adhered it, backed it with pattern paper from Maggie Holmes "Carousel" collection and then stitched around the clouds! Hand stitching is time consuming, but I love the look it creates!
Then to embellish! I used stickers and pieces from the same collection and added some sequins and buttons. I liked how the kites in this collection coordinating with the airy clouds!
Thank you for stopping by and check out the store for some new spring cut files for all your scrappy projects!

Starburst Layout! | Morgan Langley January 23, 2018 07:00
Hey crafty friends! Today I am sharing a fun layout I created using the "starburst" cut file and a sparkler picture I had from New Years!
I turned the cut file vertical and backed it with papers from Pink Pasilee's "Turn the Page". It was easiest to use the white stars that the cameo cut out as templates for backing, cutting them a little larger and then gluing them behind. I added ephemera from the collection, splatter paints, sequins, and fussy cut stars from the 12x12 pad and the 6x6 pad.
I love these positive speech bubbles from the 6x6 pad and thought they went perfect for this New Year's spread!
Thank you so much for stopping by and make sure to check out this fun cut file on the Just Nick Studios page! Follow me on instagram @morewithmorganl for more layouts!
14 Days of Giveaways - Day 13 | Morgan Langley December 13, 2017 07:00 2 Comments
Welcome to Day 13 of our 14 Days of Holidays cut file giveaways! Each weekday from December 1-14, 2017 we will be giving away a FREE cut file for that day only!
This cut file was SO fun to use! I cut the tags different sizes using a mix of kraft, white, and patterned card stock. Then I backed the cut outs with another scrap of paper and was ready to add some stitching accents!
On some of the tags I used a ruler to mark straight, different sized lines with a pencil and then stitched them, some I stitched around the image, others I stitched snowflakes, and a couple I did some french knot stitches!
I put thread or bakers twine through the hole of each tag and put adhesive so they would stay in position on my layout!
For my background I just sewed on some scraps of Christmas paper with my sewing machine using a mix of white and red threads. I added my photo and some wood snowflakes and Christmas trees and then the layout was complete!
Thank you for stopping by and make sure to get this file (HOLIDAY TAGS 2) today FREE with the code TAGFREE at checkout! Come back tomorrow for the 14th Day of giveaways!

Hello Fall! | Morgan Langley October 2, 2017 07:00
Hello crafty friends, Morgan here! I can not believe it is already October! For my layout today I used the "Bare Tree" cut file and made the tree not so bare by using the leaves included in the file and adding them onto my tree!
For my background I added some light pink, yellow, and orange watercolor splatters and cut my leaves from different colored card stock. Some of the leaves have more intricate pieces so I used the "double cut" feature on my Silhouette Cameo to get clean lines. Then I backed them onto white card stock to make them thicker and more durable for stitching. I stitched around them using corresponding thread colors. I love what paper embroidery adds to the layout!
For my photo cluster I used various Dear Lizzy ephemera and some of the cut file leaves that I hadn't yet stitched behind my photo. I also added in some floral pieces I had and a cute flair button with a wood grain background. I love how cute that little bunny piece is and thought it went in nicely!
Thank you for reading! Make sure to check out Just Nick on Instagram to see more fun posts using the fall cut files and follow me on Instagram @morewithmorganl for all my crafty updates! Also make sure to go to the Just Nick store to get some of these beautiful files!
Rad Haircut - Cathy Martin September 16, 2017 07:00
Hey everyone! It's Cathy and I'm back with another layout! This week we are focusing on word and sentiment cut files and I decided to use one cut file that had several words in it so that I could make my own title! I chose the cut file All Boy and cut out several of the words and backed the letters in various patterned papers from my stash as well as some 6 x 6 paper pads! I totally love how cool this layout turned out, and I was able to use up so many paper scraps as well as older embellishments in order to showcase this awesome cut file!
Thank you so much for stopping by to take a look today! Don't forget to check out my YT channel to see how it all came together, and have an awesome day!
Happiness in Circles! | Morgan Langley August 6, 2017 07:00
Hello friends! Today I am kicking off circles week on the Just Nick blog using the "Dreamcatcher Background 1". I love the sections in this file and I knew I wanted to add some hand stitching!
I started by backing the cut file with papers from the new Maggie Holmes collection "Carousel". Then I stitched some of the sections using corresponding colors and some using plain white embroidery floss.
I embellished using the puffy stickers from the collection as well as those gold glitter stars from the chipboard sticker sheet. I fussy cut two kites from the collection and layered them with some tangled thread. My title came from the ephemera pack and I love how it all came together!
I added some light pink splatters and added the border with my sewing machine! I used light blue thread and set my machine to do a scallop stitch!
This layout was so fun to make and I love the look of the different sections with the Dreamcatcher Background file! Thank you for stopping by!
Dude You Rock Layout by Rachel Lowe: July 24, 2017 07:00
Hello everyone I hope this finds you all well!
With three boys I am always on the look for boy/masculine cut files and this one is just fabulous! Ride the Wave background cut file could be used in many different ways for many different layout themes.
I have used the latest Cocoa Vanilla Studio You Rock collection and it is 100% boy!!!!
I cut the file in white cardstock. I then cut it down to 11.5 x 11.5 inches so I could add a border.
I then chose my patterned papers, co ordinating between two but so it did not look too uniform I have applied the rule of three.
To add texture to the 'waves' I have used my sewing machine to add texture and definition but I have done it in a random manner.
I then used the All Boy cut file to create my title using 'dude' cutting the outer in white cardstock and then cut the outer of the cut file in yellow. By adding a flair and a word die cut I created my title 'awesome dude you rock'.
I then had fun layering up my photo using plenty of foam tape so I could add embellishments under the layers.
I have then added some more machine sewing in a random messy manner.
These cut files certainly has given this layout impact and visual interest. I love how it turned out and totally goes with my photo of my youngest boy on his skate board!
These cut files are in store now!
Thank you for stopping by today and see you soon.
Everyday Magic Layout by Rachel Lowe: July 2, 2017 07:00
Hello everyone and I hope you are all having a wonderful week end!
I am so excited to be apart of the JustNick DT and to share my very first layout.
I have used this stunning new cut file Behold Beauty, isn't it just stunning!
And here is how I used it on my layout.
I have used PinkFresh Studio Live More collection.
I have cut the floral piece twice, once in white cardstock and then another in my chosen patterned paper. I did this to create layers and height. I then dressed up my centres and added more leaves to create a cascading effect. Isn't it stunning against the marble effect background paper!
I then cut my photo into three strips for visual interest. I have foam taped my photo over the floral piece to add to the 3D effect. This photo is special as it is of three generations, me, my mother and my daughter, and this is why I scrap, to memory keep and ensure these photo moments do not pass undocumented.
So not to distract from the cut file I have placed my title under my photo and finished this layout off adding detail with clusters of embellishments.
Here are some close up photos for you:
Thank you so much for stopping by today and I look forward to seeing what you create with this gorgeous Behold Beauty cut file.
Thanks Dad! - Cathy Martin June 20, 2017 05:00
Hey everyone, it's Cathy here and I'm back creating a masculine themed layout! Fathers Day was just a few days ago and I was really happy to get some fantastic photos of daddy with the kiddos! I had been in a scrap slump, but after Sunday I had renewed energy to go and get some of those photos on a layout!
One of my favourite types of cutfile in the JustNick shop are the ones that are lots of shapes attached together. They are perfect for backing with patterned paper! I found one that I thought was fun and whimsical and would work well with my idea. I'm a sucker for circular patterns so this one worked out great! Usually I cut them using white card stock, but unfortunately I am completely out! (I know, how does that even happen right?) So I decided to use a light yellow patterned paper. Needless to say after my Silhouette was done cutting I turned the cut file over, and ended up using the other side instead! You can check out my Youtube video to see what I'm talking about and see how my idea evolved!
Have an awesome scrappy day everyone and don't forget to grab a cut file while you're here!
Dream Today - iNSD 2017 May 6, 2017 07:00
Hello hello hello!!! It's Cathy here and I'm so excited to be participating in the celebrations here on the JustNick Blog! We will have several different designers posting through the day and there will be a free cut file to go along with the posts! Make sure you scroll down to the bottom of the page to get your code :)
So for my layout I actually used 3 different cut files! I used the Dreamcatcher 1 cut file, the Feathers 2 cut file, and the Sweater Weather cut file. I decided to finally get in on the dreamcatcher fad, you know, considering that it's almost over! Well let me tell you, this turned out even better than I expected, and although I had to be patient when it came to cutting out the feathers and gluing everything down, the actual design came together super quick! Don't forget to pop over to my YouTube channel to see my process video!
I did a little mixed media behind my dreamcatcher before I glued it down, and I love the addition of the white feathers with my patterned paper feathers. It really brought a level of dreamy whimsy that I had wanted in my layout! If you haven't tried a dreamcatcher yet then I suggest you grab yourself the feather and dreamcatcher cut file and get to work, you won't be disappointed!
You can grab the Dreamcatcher 1 cut file for FREE using the code: DREAM2FREE at checkout now until May 7, 2017 only!
Happy Summer - Cat Martin April 21, 2017 06:00
Hello hello hello! It's Cat here back with another layout! I am so happy and excited with how this layout turned out so I hope you like it too!. I used the Radiate Cut File and cut it out from a polka dot patterned paper. I then backed it with several different types of paper, including papers that originally came from some old K & Company Smash Books that I never even came close to completing! I kept the embellishments and the background paper simple to really show off the photo and the cut file. My picture perfectly fit in the circle in the centre. The Radiate Cut File is perfect for emphasizing one picture and pretty much would fit any theme! I know for many of us who scrapbook the men and boys in our lives we have a difficult time but that's what I love about having the opportunity to create for JustNick, so I can showcase different ways to use her files and hopefully help those who are not sure exactly how to scrap for our boys! I will also have a process video up on my YouTube channel if you want to see how I put it all together, including all of my struggles!
Little Magic March 22, 2017 07:00
Hello hello hello it's Cathy here and I'm back with another layout! I don't know about you but even though it's still bitterly cold and gloomy in my region of the world I can't help but long for the beautiful colours of spring! For my layout today I was inspired by all the fun and colourful scraps that I have in my stash. Some are relatively new and some are from years ago, but either way I loved combining them together to make this fun image! I used the Rosette Background 2, and originally I was using it as intended, as flowers, but once I was all done backing it I really loved how much it looked like wonky bubbles, so I decided to document my daughter's bubble blowing adventure last spring. Backing the cut file with multiple papers was a wee bit time consuming, but I just love the end result! Thanks so much for stopping by and if you go to my Youtube channel you can check out how I made my layout!
Follow your dreams | Geometric Background 2 |Michelle Whorwood March 16, 2017 07:00
Michelle here with a new masculine layout featuring the Geometric Background 2 cut file. This type of background is a perfect one for layouts of the boys in our lives and I wanted to utilise the different geometric shapes in the file to make little mini pocket style elements within the grid shapes. I also wanted to share how you can adapt the cut files once you have downloaded them in the Silhouette software to make them your own and to work with your design. This is the original file:
As you can see the original cut file is more A4 size and I wanted to widen the windows on the right hand side so I could fit my square photo and have more space to fit my embellishments. To do this, after I traced the file, I right hand clicked on it to ungroup (release compound path). I then dragged the outer border to fill my 12 x 12 inch space on the Silhouette software. I then dragged the rectangle shapes out to meet my new enlarged border. When I was happy with their size and shape, I regrouped the cut file and proceeded to cut it out. This is the finished layout:
I cut the file out on white cardstock and layered it back on white cardstock and filled in most of the diagonal negative spaces with patterned paper. I added my photo to the largest rectangle shape and added some fringing to the bottom as it was a square photo and didn't actually quite fill the shape - the illusion of another line on the cut file is actually a white border on my photo and added some embellishments to the other negative spaces.
I then added the large title wood veneer and the little frames which hold the initials of my son, Liam's name and matched diagonal slope of the cut file and finished off with some sequin stars and small word phrases which matched the sentiment of my layout.
I hope you have enjoyed my layout I have shared with you today? Do you alter cut files to suit your style or to fit the type of layout you are doing? Maybe you would like to try this technique one day if you haven't already?
Thanks Michelle xx

Hey everybody it's Cathy here, back with another layout for JustNick Studio and Scrapbook Circle! The Scrapbook Circle kit for March was loaded with bright colours and funky designs. I really wanted to showcase all of those fun papers and colours so I chose the dreamcatcher background 1. There were lots of awesome spaces to back with papers! I used a small star stamp to create a fun pattern around where my cut file would rest and then popped my file up on some foam for added dimension. Since all the products worked so perfectly together embellishing was a piece of cake! A big thank you to Nicole and Scrapbook Circle for this awesome team up!
All You Need Is a Free Love Cut File! February 18, 2017 08:00
Hey everyone, it's Cathy here and I'm showing you all my layout using the fantastic Free Love cut file that is available for free until February 19th! Just use the code FREELOVE when you're at the checkout! For my take I decided to get in on the bling and I backed my letters with sequins and some large glitter and an iron-on sequin edging. I always love finding ways to incorporate unusual items and textures into my layouts and this method gave me a fantastic focal piece! I didn't really need to do much else since I already had so much going on but I did like putting everything on the diagonal. Just to make it a little more interesting. I added some punched out hearts for dimension and used some chipboard from Crate Paper Heart Day. Thanks so much for stopping by and don't forget to get this cut file while you still can!
All of Me Loves All of You February 3, 2017 06:00
Hey everyone! Cathy here with a fun lovey dovey layout for you all. I absolutely love the All of Me cut file and I knew immediately that I wanted to see it in black with gold ink splatters on it, so with that for the basis of my layout I set out to find a picture of my husband and I! I ended up printing one that wasn't the best quality, but that I loved anyway, so I just kept it black and white and made it a very small photo, that way the title could really take centre stage. I love the idea of adding other textures on my layouts so I used some beautiful striped ribbon to compliment my page. I fussy cut out a cute little bird from the Maggie Holmes Gather collection. I loved how well those Pinkfresh Studio hearts from the Indigo Hills collection matched with all my colours so I added lots of those too! I absolutely love how well a tiny photo tucks in around my big title, it brings a feeling of cohesion and unity to all the elements going on in my layout. Thank you so much for stopping by and don't forget to check out my process video on my YouTube channel to see how this layout came together and to see what happens when you have a terrible accident while scrapping!
Follow Your Heart it Knows the Way January 27, 2017 07:00
Hey everyone, it's Cathy here and I'm back with another layout! This time I'm using the fantastic Going My Way background cut file. I mean, who doesn't love arrows! I love how these arrows are all intersecting, it's such a funky looking cut file! I cut it out of white cardstock and put it over a woodgrain background. I just love the look of a white cut file over top of woodgrain paper :) I can't get enough of it, and these arrows fit perfectly with my theme! I also used lots of the older Crate Paper Journey collection as well to really accent my theme! Thank you so much for stopping by and don't forget to pop over to my YouTube channel to see how I made this layout!
Ho Ho Ho - Cat Martin December 29, 2016 07:00 1 Comment
Hey everyone! I hope you all had a wonderful holiday celebration, and cheers to us fast approaching a new year! I don't know about you guys but I will definitely be glad to see 2016 go in some respects, but in others I was so happy for many of the experiences gained during the year. I am loving my time here on the JustNick design team and I adore her files, so I'm so glad to share another one with you all today! So even though Christmas is done, that just means for me that it's time to get scrapping all of those wonderful photos and memories while it's still wintery white outside. I absolutely adored the Holiday Tree cut file when she put it up in the shop and I knew I needed to use it asap so I decided not to wait until next Christmas and to use it for a holiday photo now! My original plan for this layout was to use a picture of my son and to use a gray/brown wood grain paper as my background, but after stumbling on this funky turquoise Websters Pages paper I changed up my game plan and used a picture of my daughter instead. I love the funky, eclectic look of the layout and all the bright fun pops of colour and bling throughout!
Adventure | Tarrah McLean November 28, 2016 07:00
Hi Just Nick fans!
It's Tarrah McLean back with you and today I have a new scrapbook layout to share using one of the amazing new background cut files called Circle to Circle. This background is brand new and has just been released so make sure you jump on the Just Nick store and add it to your cut file collection!
I teamed the Circle to Circle background cut file with the super pretty Fancy Free collection by Paige Evans for Pink Paislee. I adhered the cut file in place and then machine stitched the square edge for extra security and some texture.
I decided to cut the background with white cardstock so that I could overlap onto that pretty but busy patterned paper background!
I added lots of embellishments inside some of the holes of the cut file and also framed the photo with them as well. I tried to match the colors in the papers with the embellishments that I added to the hole.
Thank you so much for stopping by the Just Nick blog today!
Totally thankful | Michelle Whorwood November 26, 2016 07:00
Michelle here, today I am sharing a layout in the theme of 'Thankful'. I have so many things to be thankful for in life I sometimes forget to celebrate the little things like heading to the beach after school to hang out with my kids in the glorious sunshine. I am lucky here in New Zealand to live only 5 mins drive from a stunning beach so my layout is of my youngest playing in the sand the other day.
I have used one of the new background cut files in store called Feather background and cut this out on some white cardstock. I then added a piece of patterned paper behind the feather design to create a wall paper like effect on my page.
Some close ups:
What have you got to be thankful for? Will you play along with us this week and create a layout about something you are thankful?
Painted Cut Files and Being Thankful! November 25, 2016 07:00
Hello everyone! This week we are focusing on everything that we are thankful for. I am thankful that I get to be a part of this amazing team and use all these incredible cut files! :)
Today I am sharing a page about family using the Mandala Background 1 and Many Thanks cut files:
And here is my page. Along with the cut files, I used lots of papers and bit from the Pink Paislee Cedar Lane and Memorandum collections.
I thought that the Mandala patterns looked like cabbages or artichokes, so I painted them a plum color in the center and a greyish green around the edges.
I also used the Leaves 3 cut file to cut some leaves out of moss green paper and I stitched down the middle of each leaf.
For my embellishment clusters, I added in some mustard yellow, teal, and a dark azure to compliment the plum and moss colors. I tried to make sure that each of my clusters had all the colors.
Finally, I used a dark woodgrain paper for a layer behind my photo and for the "Be Thankful" title.
Hope you have an Thanksgiving weekend!
Colored Leaves - Thankful November 24, 2016 07:00
Hey everyone, it's Cathy, and I'm back with another layout for you! For this week our theme was "Thankful" Now I live in Canada, so we had our Thanksgiving in October, but being thankful doesn't have a time frame, and even the simplest thing can make us feel thankful. Now that autumn is ending and winter is fast approaching I wanted to take a moment and express how thankful I am for little things, like the beautiful changing leaves of autumn. This time of year is my favorite but far. I absolutely love the colours of fall and I love all the celebrations that go on during that time. I also love gearing up for the holiday season too as I watch the nights get shorter.
So for my layout I used a phrase from the cut file Fall Y'all. I really love all the phrases from this cut file and will definitely be using the others for different layouts, but for this one I chose the "colored leaves" phrase. I enlarged it and cut it from white cardstock. I really wanted a simplistic look to this layout, with the focus being on the photo and the title. I am so happy with the minimal look that I ended up with, and as a bonus, this layout took almost no time to make, so I got to be thankful for that as well!
Fly High October 1, 2016 07:00
Hello everyone! Donna here today to share a page I created using Just Nick Studio cut file and Pretty Little Studio "Here comes the sun collection".
I can't believe it's already October. It means my daughter is turning 2 in just a few weeks! Time flies really fast when you're having fun and busy with a very active toddler, lol!
Now onto my layout.
I used the Henna cut file.
Originally, it is one piece. But I wanted to place/spread them like you see in my layout. I just tucked each piece over each other
I thought of adding color to it but decided later on I wanted to keep it plain white. The 8x8 vellum paper is already quite bright IMO so, plain white it is.
I used die cuts and stickers to embellish the page. Last minute decision to add pink watercolor border to the edges. Used foam dots to raise some of the die cuts to add a bit of dimension. I also used one of the packaging's backing paper (or whatever it is called) here. It's the one with pink polka dots. I love that you can recycle the packaging like that. It's too pretty to throw away.
I hope you liked my page! Be sure to come back tomorrow for the Just Nick Studio-Pretty Little Studio team up!
Cut file used: Henna
Thanks for dropping by!
