Good Life | Rachel Lowe May 2, 2019 07:00
Hi all Rachel here and today I have a layout that is all about colour! I love butterflies and use them in one way or another time and time again. I have used the Butterly Background 2 cut file.
I have used the new Simple Stories collection Vintage Botanicals.
Have you ever looked at a 'busy' or multi coloured paper and thought how do I use that? I used a very busy paper (SS Scatter Kindness 10476) to cut the Butterfly Background 2, as some of the butterflies are not solid and there are varied size butterflies it allows you to use such a paper, and look at the beautiful effect! I added some machine stitching down the centre of some of the butterflies. I chose a white background to provide a stark contrast.
I added my photo (back and white to add more contrast against the butterfly background) by matting it on a bright green paper mat and using foam tape so it 'popped' off my layout. Framing it was a must so your eye was also drawn to my photo and not just the gorgeous colourful butterflies.
I added flower die cuts to each side of my photo, tucking them under the photo mat. I added some more machine stitching to the leaves of the flower die cuts to add definition. I added some pretty little die cut birds with foam tape to create a 3D effect and more importantly so they did not get lost against the butterfly background. I added a small sticker as my title, Good Life, again as my background was so busy and colourful it was about keeping it simple and clean.
Don't be afraid to use busy or colourful papers, they can add a real wow factor to larger cut files, this was out of my comfort zone as I tend to use softer colours and small patterns but I love it.
Thank you for stopping by today and I will see you again later in the month. Happy creating!
Bring on Summer | Monique Liedtke August 7, 2018 07:00
Hello JustNick friends! It's Monique again with another Summer layout using the "Bring on Summer" cut files and the Sunshine & Happiness collection from Simple Stories. We have been having a couple of exceptionally warm and dry weeks here in The Netherlands and that called for lots of ice cream eating!
Here's a layout I made using a photo of the boys and I having an ice cream on our walk through the city centre here in Delft. There's this lovely Italian ice cream shop in the market square where we love to try all the different flavors they sell (which are many!).
I just love all the different cut files in the "Bring on Summer" set and used both the sun, the ice cream and the words.
The reason I chose this cut file set was the ice cream cut file of course. I cut the cone once, but the ice cream ball three times. I placed the ice cream balls on top of each other and machine stitched them together:
Next I cut out the sun, adhered this behind the ice cream and stitched between the rays:
I matted the photo and adhered it on top of the ice cream. I cut out the title "Bring on Summer" and stapled it on top of the ice cream & photo:
I decorated the rest of the layout with lots of die-cuts, chipboard shapes, stickers and stamps and wrote a bit of journaling in the bottom right corner and was done!
I had so much fun creating this, hope you like it too!
Thank you so much for stopping by! And if you're looking for this cut file or for other summer cut files then please hop over to the JustNick shop!
Have a great day!
This is ME | Monique Liedtke July 10, 2018 07:00 2 Comments
Hello JustNick Studio friends!
It's Monique Liedtke here today and I'm so happy I get to share my very first DT project with you! I've loved Nicole's digital cut files forever and am so excited to be part of the JustNick team for the next year!
Laugh More, Live Simply, Dream Big | Majken Pullin July 6, 2018 07:00 2 Comments
Hello, hello JustNick fans. I'm so very excited to join you today with my very first layout on the JustNick Design Team!! I downloaded my first JustNick cutfile two days after Nicole created her store a little over 3 years ago. I had been a fan of her free designs for awhile, so I was thrilled to see her open her shop, and I can't wait to share projects with you all.
Our first share is an About Me page, so I'll start with a quick intro. I've been crafty all my life! I started using stamps around 1989 and scrapbooking in 1999, so I've seen a lot of trends and changes in the industry, including my own style. My day job is marketing for a software company, and besides papercrafting, I adore chocolate, reading, and watching movies and the Houston Astros. I live in Katy, Texas with my husband, Tim, two kiddos, and kitty Oreo.
Okay, on to the layout!
I used the Live Love cutfile to cut three 3" circles using Simple Stories I Am. I used white gesso to prep my cardstock before swirling Distress Oxide ink slightly larger than my circles and spritzing different inks. I added stitching after it dried then popped up my cut circles with foam tape.
I also used the Borders 1 cutfile to create a little interest on the right side of my photo.
I typed out five things about me currently for my journaling.
I love the feel a little mixed media gave my cut files and page, and I hope you are inspired to stop by the JustNick store for these cut files and many others!

Good Vibes - Rachel Lowe June 1, 2018 07:00 1 Comment
Hello JustNick friends!
I tend to scrap smaller photos and square them but today I have a 8.5x11 inch layout using a 4x6 inch portrait photo. I struggled for a while shuffling things around my layout then I decided to use a frame with the ability to embellish it so it became the centre piece of my layout.
These frames are just gorgeous! I chose the portrait one to use on my layout (keeping in mind your photo with the heart on the inside of the frame). I resized to fit my photo using a multi coloured aztec paper from the Good Vibes collection by Simple Stories (all product for this is using this collection).
Firstly I created a border to contrast against the white card stock.
Once I had fixed my photo into place to the inner cut file frame I attached it to the centre of my page. I left the sides of the photo and frame untaped so I could tuck embellishments under.
I add the die cut FAB as my title to the top centre and finished off with a cute kissing emoji.
Under the photo frame at the bottom of my pageI added another row of super cute stickers and die cuts from the collection in keeping with the theme of my photo and layout. I added some messy machine sewing to add texture.
In designing the top and bottom of my layout first it allowed me to visually see my frame and how I would place my embellishments.
I have tucked die cut floral bunches under both sides of the inner cut file frame, I added a word sentiment stickers to both floral bunches finished off with a heart die cut. I played extra hearts over the cut file hearts with foam tape to add height.
I can't wait to use the other shaped infinity hearts frames on my layouts because it certainly added a real factor to my photo and layout!
Thank you for stopping by today and happy creating!
2 Girls & 2 Trikes | Cathy Martin April 28, 2018 08:00
Hi everyone! I'm excited to be back with another layout for JustNick and this layout is very special to me because it's the first one I have done using pictures from my childhood of my sister and I. The picture isn't very good quality, since it's a scan from an original photo from the 80's. Now because the picture isn't the best quality, I had to keep it small, so I needed a big, fun, bold background to take up the rest of the space! I ended up choosing the Sunburst Circle background cut file, because it reminded me of bicycle tires. Since the picture was so vintage I decided to go full on vintage with my paper choices and embellishments. I absolutely adore the final layout, and I hope you like it too! Thank you so much for stopping by!
floral Wreath layout by Rachel Lowe - A Happy Life: March 25, 2018 07:00
Hello everyone! Today I have a layout that speaks spring to me!
I have used two cut files on this 12x12 layout.
I have used Simple Stories BLISS collection.
I sized the wreath at 7.5x5.5 inches as I wanted to create a larger title and still have some negative space!
I splattered my white base card stock in black colour shine.
I backed the flowers with patterned paper so they stood out on my page.
I often do white on white and ensure it stands out I cut another one in the white and attach over the first one! I also only add wet glue in dots at random places so my cut file is not attached flat to my base paper. These little techniques will really make your cut file visually appear 3D.
I then over sized the word blessed from the card sentiments 3 cut file. I have sewn horizontally across my title to add texture.
I then sparingly added a die cut bird, clouds and butterfly from the collection. I used foam tape on one of the clouds so again it appeared 3D, I did the same with the bird.
I love this photo of my mum and daughter, this type of wreath makes your eye go directly to the photo.
Here are some close up photos for you:
Thank you so much for stopping by today and I hope that this has inspired you!
Fall Layout by Rachel Lowe: October 12, 2017 07:00
Hello scrappy friends well today I have a Fall/Autumn layout for you (which is a bit odd for us here in Australia as it is spring!!!). I am a summer girl and not a huge lover of fall/winter so when I saw the cut file Feels Like Fall, I knew it was perfect for what I wanted to create. These are a few of the things I do love about winter!
I removed a couple of the sayings as I was space conscious regarding my design which is the wonderful thing about cut files you can alter them to fit your theme, layout etc.
I then cut two of the large Boho Florals and backed in a autumn yellow. I wanted my photo centre of my page so place my flowers under the photo until I was happy with the way the looked.
I then a dark blue/grey mat around my photo and sewed around the edge to give it a rustic look. I then went through my stash and found embellishments that coordinated with my layout. I finished off with adding light splatters of gold and black colour shine and some random machine sewing to add texture.
Here are some close up photos for you:
Thank you so much and I hope this layout has inspired you in some way to create your own unique fall layout!
See you soon X
Live Today - Cathy Martin August 11, 2017 07:00
Hi everyone! I can't believe we are almost halfway through August! Where oh where has the summer gone. Well I know for myself I am still going to be scrapping fun and bright layouts for just a little bit longer before I switch and start focusing on the awesomeness of autumn scrapping. With that in mind this week is circles week and we are focusing on cut files that are circular. This, for me, is seriously no problem, I LOVE all of Nicole's circular cut files!
For the layout I created I chose the Floral Ring 3 cut file, and I cut it out in a very primary, bright blue. Now here is where the challenge is because this colour of blue is not one that I would usually use, but I really wanted to give myself a bit of a challenge as well as get a chance to use up products that would match well with the blue that I chose!
After much hmming and hahing and not being able to make a decision on patterned paper I finally was able to back the cut file and choose a background paper that really went well together. I used products from Pinkfresh Studio and Pretty Little Studio to finish off the layout!
Thank you all so much for stopping by and don't forget to check out my process video to see how it all came together! Thanks so much for stopping by and have an awesome day!
Hello Summer Mini Album | Jennifer McMurtrey July 22, 2017 07:00
Hello JustNick friends! It's Jen today sharing a 4 x 6 summer-themed mini album created using several - okay, make that a lot of - designs from the Just Nick Cut File Store and a mix of collections from Simple Stories.
First is the cover - this was created using a photo overlay with alphabet stickers stitched on for the title. For a bit of texture and color, I added a strip of t-shirt and a piece of ribbon from my stash.
The second page is one of my favorites - it uses the Sunray Background cut file, which I sized down before cutting on my Silhouette.
Prior to cutting the Sunray Background in half, I machine stitched each of the rays and around the sun. Next, cut the sun in half, put both sides together, and sewed along the edge to create a pocket. I then used a journaling card to jot down some memories and placed it inside the pocket.
Up next are a couple of smaller photos on one page with more stitched cut files on the opposite side using the Summer, Summer Fun, and Beach Umbrella Background files. It is hard to see in the photo, but I cut a palm tree using another acetate photo overlay and it is behind the sun.
Two more pages follow that use more patterned papers, stickers, and die cuts with stitching.
Thanks for making it this far . . . we are almost to the end.
This page has more machine stitching with stickers and die cuts the "fun" from Summer tucked behind the photo.
Here is another photo on the left with the On an Adventure cut file stitched to a piece of vellum.
Here I machine stitched a portion of the Wave Border 2 file on a 4 x 4 piece of patterned paper.
Just inside the back cover I used more of the Wave Border 2 behind my photo, which is attached to another 4 x 6 folder from File Folders.
Last is the back cover, which uses a 4 x 6 patterned paper and a photo overlay for added protection.
Thank you for sticking with me to end of this very long post. Please be sure to visit the JustNick blog daily for tons of inspiration from the design team.
Happy Spring | Tarrah McLean March 30, 2017 07:00
Hi there Just Nick fans!
I used the Simple Stories Fresh Air collection for this layout about my niece out in the garden one day! Cutting the Doodle Flowers from different papers and at different sizes, brings in lots of variety and adds lots of interest to my page!
A couple of whimsical wood veneer pieces really add to the garden theme I have going on here...I love the colour they bought to the layout as well as the dimension!
A couple of resin embellishments I have had in my stash forever also made it on to this layout! I nearly always have to add a flair button and this layout is no exception! The rain cloud with the rain drops flair was perfect in colour and theme so this was the one that had to be used!
Thank you so much for stopping by the Just Nick Studio blog today! I would love to see some Spring themed projects that you have created using the Just Nick cut files? Make sure to tag @justnickstudio on social media so we can see what you are creating!
Let's Go March 20, 2017 07:00
Happy Monday scrappers! Nicole here with a fun summer layout... I don't know about you, but it's been a crazy winter in Maryland! Last month, when I created this layout, it was in the 60's all weekend. On the 20th of February! Naturally, I was in the mood to scrap a summer layout. LOL.
I used three different cut files and Simple Stories' You are here collection for this layout (Arrows 3, Summer Words, Sunny Days). I also used some of my Altenew stamps to create a fun geometric flower and a smaller flower to add to the "relax" die cut circle.
Here are a few closer photos of my layout. I love all the layering on this layout!
Products Used: Patterned Paper, Stickers: Chipboard Frame: Enamel Dots, Clear Stickers: Die-cuts: Simple Stories, Stamps: Altenew, Digital Cutfiles: Just Nick Studio (Arrow 3, Summer Words, Sunny Days).

Naughty or Nice | Tarrah McLean January 2, 2017 07:00
Hi there Just Nick fans and HAPPY NEW YEAR!
It's Tarrah McLean back with you today! I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas! I am guessing you may have lots of photos to scrapbook so today I have some inspiration for you using one of the Christmas title cut files in store called Naughty or Nice!
I used the super cute Mistletoe Kisses collection from Simple Stories together with the Naughty or Nice cut file! I love the cute elements included in this collection!
Below is the image of the cut file I used!
As there was lots of green going in on this layout I decided to cut the title from red cardstock...I feel it helps to balance out some of the colours.
Just before Christmas, my boys and I went to a Christmas party at a good friends house. She had an awesome photo booth set up, my boys loved playing in there, so I just had to snap a few pics of course!
I hope you will get some time to create over the Christmas break? Why not check out all the cut files available in the Just Nick store? They really do help to enhance your projects!
Thank you so much for stopping by the Just Nick blog today!
Holly and Jolly | Tarrah McLean December 16, 2016 07:00 2 Comments
It's Tarrah McLean back with you today! I have a new layout to share today that will get you into the Christmas spirit if you aren't already!!
I was lucky enough to get a few bits and pieces from the Mistletoe Kisses collection by Simple Stories recently and this is my 5th layout using it! I have sons so therefore the colours aren't what I would normally use but I have found this collection super easy to use!
As soon as I saw this super cute photo of my nephew wearing that massively cute sweater, I knew what I wanted to do straight away with this layout! Don't you love it when that happens?!
I decided to cut the Reindeer cut file from white cardstock right in the centre so that I could then add a backing patterned paper behind it.
I added lots of different pieces from the Mistletoe Kisses collection to embellish my layout including the chipboard stickers, 4x6 stickers, ephemera and wood veneer!
I find inspiration for my layouts all over the place but one of my favourite places to find inspiration is on clothes. I just adore that reindeer on the sweater so I just had to showcase a reindeer somehow!
Some of the elements included in the Mistletoe Kisses collection are very cutesy which is brilliant for me having 2 young sons!
Thank you so much for stopping by the Just Nick blog today! Wishing everyone a very Merry Christmas and a safe and happy New year! Make sure to join us again in the New Year for more inspiration using the awesome cut files here at Just Nick Studio!
Simple Stories Team Up! October 22, 2016 16:00
Have you enjoyed our team up with Simple Stories this week?
I am in awe of all the amazing creations from both teams using our cut files and the Hello Fall collection from Simple Stories. As the lady who creates all these cut files, it is always a treat for me to see how others use them. I am always so excited when I spot one of our cut files used on a project (and we love you sharing them with us too!)
I had a chance to play along for this team up. I could hardly wait to rip into the Hello Fall collection and get started. But what cut files to use!? There were so many fall files I wanted to add in, so had to reign myself in a bit. I actually came up with 2 projects for this swap, as I just couldn't choose!
I really love all the pretty colors in this collection, and started out by diecutting a whole heck of a lot of leaves from various papers in the mini kit. I balanced it around a diecut scribble shape that was a freebie I made for Scrapbook and Cards Today magazine (download lots of my freebies HERE). I added in a light wash of some watercolor paint to the white background... it is quite light as I am trying to get the hang of them without being too heavy handed :)
I really love how easy it was to pair the diecuts from the store along with the diecut stickers from the Simple Stories collection. Looks like it was meant to be!
Next, I created this page with the Fall Y'All cut file. I love the scripty font mixed in with some leaves. It is pretty intricate, so I do recommend you cut it a little larger than normal (or use a super new blade)
I cut the title twice and layered the orange letters over the white grid to add a small layer of dimension and pop of color too! I backed the leaf with some scraps from the collection too, so the middle leaf wasn't so stark white.
I simply added in lots of Simple Stories loveliness from here - some stickers popped up, fussy cut leaves and a journaling card from the cut apart sheet. Love those! I love a good woodgrain paper and Simple Stories has a great set that I like to keep in my "background" paper stash.
That's it for me today - and our Team Up too! I want to thank Layle and all the talented ladies from Simple Stories (and our team) for sharing all their amazing projects this week!
Thank you all for stopping by and checking out our blog, Facebook page and Instagram! We appreciate all your support!
Autumn Splender October 21, 2016 07:00
Hello JustNick Studio friends!
Marcia here today. All week we have been showcasing our awesome JustNick Studio digital cut files with the beautiful Simple Stories Hello Fall collection. My layout uses two of the new cut files for autumn; Fall Y'all, and Leaf Cluster. I love how well these two cut files coordinate with eachother. I cut both of them from a Simple Stories dark woodgrain paper, then I filled the negative space behind the leaves with different pattern papers from the Hello Fall collection. With the gorgeous leaf cluster, my layout doesn't need a lot of other embellishments
Here are some close-up detail pictures. I just love how adorable this fox is. He is a chipboard sticker from the Hello Fall collection.
Here are the cut files I used today ...
Thanks so much for stopping by! Have a great weekend.
Autumn Blessings October 19, 2016 07:00
Hello everyone. I'm happy to be a part of the JustNick + Simple Stories team up this week.
I created a layout of die cuts really. It's a combo of different leaves I cut with my cameo and flowers that I fussy cut. Although I spent a bit of time cutting those flowers, it came together fast and easy.
Since the flowers were so colorful, I decided to cut the leaves out of white cardstock and leave them plain. I did this so that the leaves and flowers would compliment each other instead of compete against each other.
I hope you are enjoying this week's team up. Make sure to visit the Simple Stories blog for even more inspiration.
A Perfect Autumn Day - Simple Stories Team Up October 18, 2016 07:00
Hello friends! It's Lee-Anne here and today I am sharing a layout for the team up with Simple Stories that is happening now until October 22. Be sure to check out the Just Nick and Simple Stories blogs daily and see what some of the designers have created for the collaboration and prepare to be inspired.
I love everything autumn and since I have a new addition to my family this Fall, I thought my puppy Syd would be the perfect subject for this layout that I created with the new Hello Fall collection by Simple Stories and the Leaves 3 cut file from Just Nick.
I really like to use the cut files in a unique way so I arranged the leaves, duplicated, rotated and spaced them apart in Silhouette Studio and then cut it out on the brown wood grain background paper. After the background paper was cut, I added dimensional foam squares to the backside of the brown wood grain paper and then I backed it with several papers in different colors for the leaves. I love this technique because it give the layout lots of depth.
I hope you enjoyed your visit and be sure to check out all the cut files in the Just Nick shop. Have a great day!
Autumn Blessing - Simple Stories Team Up October 17, 2016 07:00
Hi everyone it's Cathy! I'm back with another layout for JustNick Studio. This time we are teaming up with Simple Stories to create some fun layouts. I received the gorgeous Hello Fall collection from Simple Stories. Now while this is a fall collection I was trying to figure out a way to use it that wouldn't be a conventional fall layout. I decided to use the lovely baby blue and floral paper from the collection for my jumping off point and that made me think about my youngest son, who was born last fall. I thought this would be a perfect subject to merge with fall inspired papers and embellishments. I cut out several of the leaf cluster file in white white cardstock and used a few of the other papers to back some of the leaves. I backed my photos with a few other of the papers and then stuck it all down. I loved all the project life cards that came with the collection so I decided to fussy cut out some of the images and sayings to add to my layout! I love how this turned out, and that I was able to use the collection for a slightly different subject!
Addicted Gamer | Stuck?! Sketches Team up | Tarrah McLean September 23, 2016 07:00 2 Comments
Hi Just Nick fans!
It's Tarrah here with you and today I am excited to be sharing my layout for the team up between Just Nick Studio and Stuck?! Sketches.....my layout of course features Nicole's awesome cut files and you can see my interpretation of the fabulous sketch that Laura designed from Stuck?! Sketches!
I used up some of my Simple Stories 'So Rad' collection from my stash...it goes perfectly with these cut files...I resized them a little bit to work with them into my layout....I made the headphones a bit bigger, the controller a bit smaller and the Gamer title slightly bigger too!
Here is Laura's awesome sketch she designed! Make sure you check out the Stuck Sketches?! blog for all the inspiration using this same sketch!
Some detail photos showing how the Just Nick cut files compliment the sketch and the So Rad collection....
Stuck?! Sketches team up! September 18, 2016 09:00 1 Comment
Good morning everyone! Nicole here to let you know all about a team up that we will be sharing, starting tomorrow, on our blog with the team of Stuck?! Sketches!
Laura has created a great sketch for some of our teams to both use, and we have combined some of our JustNick cut files with that same sketch for some fun results!
I played along with the sketch too and thought I would share a preview of that today. A sketch can truly do wonders for my mojo, and adding in some cut files, make a page come together quite easily too!
I used the new Rustic Leaf Frame cut file for this page, and you can see it makes a large impact on the page. Once I die cut it from the patterned paper, I simply added a few pieces of green behind the leaves and voila!
I added in some popped up diecut stickers and enamel dots around the frame area. I love combining the die cut frame with products I can easily get from a manufacturer!
Cut files used:
Now, I am sure you will be able to do wonders with this same sketch! Come back tomorrow to see the sketch and what Laureen did with it! Plus, you will get a chance to win a $25 gift certificate to our store too! A win -win I think!
Have a creative Sunday!
Every summer has a story September 7, 2016 07:00
Hello everyone! Donna here for my first post this month of September. Wow.. September already?! How time flies!
It's still summer here in this part of the world and still hot as ever. Temperature ranges from 32-45 deg Celsius (sometimes higher!) and all you want to do is stay inside your home with the AC full blast! lol!
It's a good thing that there are tons of homes with private indoor pools you can rent for a day or two (or longer if you have that much money lol!). And no, you can't swim in public here, it's not allowed to be seen in public esp women without the black, long dress called Abaya.
Anyway, we already had our first summer escapade last May and it was sure a lot of fun!
I used one of the "decent" photos of my daughter running around the pool lol! She was so excited but didn't want to stay in the water because it was a bit cold. But she did a lot of running around and made her daddy so tired haha!
For my layout, I used 3 different cut files: Summer Lovin, Summer Fun and Floral Circle Doily
To create layers, I used another doily to mat the Floral Circle Doily and tons of light pink thread under the photo, which were also matted with a couple of papers.
Used my Promarkers to color a couple of the Summer Fun cut files
To break the colorful elements, I turned one of the photo in black and white. Also added bits of black-grayish stickers
Matting the big title was not my original plan but when I laid everything down, I thought it looked bleh over the neutral background. So I adhered it to an orange with white polka dot patterned paper and fussy cut. Would have been much better if I did the cutting using my Silhouette Cameo as well, lol!
I wrote the journaling with pencil first before writing permanently using a black pen.
I just love this limited edition Summer kit from Clique Kits and have few more projects to share in my next posts. So watch out for those :D
Cut files used:
Floral Circle Doily
That is all for me today! I hope you liked my page!
Thanks for dropping by, happy crafting!
Bloom & Grow by Tarrah McLean August 19, 2016 07:00
It's Tarrah McLean back with you today to share a new scrapbook layout...its almost Spring (yay!) here in Australia so my layout for Just Nick was inspired by the flowers that are starting to bloom around here! I am usually not a flower lover but since I have a niece now I have an excuse to use them and I actually love it!
This is the cut file I used on my layout...the floral stripe background....I cut it from a floral patterned paper and adhered it horizontally to mimic the floral design on the background paper!
I added some black lines using a black journaling pen, in between the cut lines to also mimic the design already printed on the background paper...
I added lots of floral embellishments like some wood veneers, ephemera and rubber shapes. I also added a few different phrase stickers to tie the theme all together.
This layout is about my niece who I ADORE! She is the funniest little girl! She is so gorgeous and I just LOVE having a little girl to scrap now!
Thanks so much for stopping by the Just Nick blog today!
Happy cutting and creating!
Lazy days of summer August 18, 2016 07:00
Hello everyone! Donna here to share my page using one of the new cut files in the Just Nick Studio store.
Here is my page using the Summer Lovin wordart set of cut files.
I turned the photo into black and white because my daughter's swimsuit is actually red and navy blue. I kept the title white with just a hint of color. I used a combination of blue and pink watercolor and lightly brushed it on the title.
My layout is really quite straightforward design-wise. I adhered the doily in the center of the page first and then the frame and stack of photos. From there, I placed the different embellishments of my choosing. After everything is in place, I splattered a bit of light pink watercolor all over the page while covering the photo with a piece of plastic sheet.
I hope you liked my page! Thanks for dropping by!
I used the August kit from Clique Kits featuring Simple Stories - You are here collection.

Stay Cool | Tarrah McLean August 1, 2016 07:00
Hi Just Nick fans!
It's Tarrah back with you today to share a new scrapbook layout with you using one of the many beautiful new cut files in store now!
I decided to use - The Floral Lace Background from the store and absolutely LOVE how it turned out!
I used the fun Simple Stories Summer Vibes collection to document this super cute photo of my niece when she was about 6 months old! My sister and her family live in England, they visited us last year and they had bought Amelia these sunglasses to protect her eyes from our harsh sun...perfect photo opportunity!
I also used a few bits and pieces left over from my June Hip Kit club kit, like those cute wood veneer sunglasses.......very appropriate for this layout!
Thanks so much for joining me on the Just Nick blog today!
Single Digits on the Double Spread June 25, 2016 07:00
Hey there Just Nick fans! Suzanna dropping in for the last time today to share my version of the free digital file this month. I cut it out twice, each on a full sheet of paper and used the grid background to document my youngest's single digit birthdays with some Simple Stories.
Both pages are backed with an aqua card stock which really emphasizes the digital cut file. I then set about fitting all nine birthday pictures in and lots of embellies to celebrate! I chose to fill most of the cut away squares and used the "open" uncut spaces for my photos.
Here's a better look at just the right hand page;
And the left hand side (or the odd numbered birthdays, I just realized);
And a close up;
What a great week it's been seeing all the different ways to use this FREE (did you hear me?, FREE!!) digital cut file. Be sure to grab it!
Thanks for popping in over the past 6 months to see my work here. Be sure to swing on over to my blog http://lifestrivialities.typepad.com/ in the future. Thanks Nicole for creating some great files and the opportunity to work with this talented group of ladies!
Meet Me in Tahoe and Sketch Pens! May 11, 2016 07:00
Melissa here with you today and I've got a page that utilizes sketch pens and a cut file from Just Nick! I've had my Cameo for over 5 years now and have always wanted to try out the sketch pens but, just never got around to getting some. Now that I have them, it's one of those moments that has me constantly saying, "why didn't I get these sooner???"
Nicole has created several cut files that I think work so perfect for the sketch pens! One of those is the Delicate Florals file. Let me tell you, it was fascinating watching the sketch pens go to work. Because I hadn't used them before, nor had I viewed any tutorials (I like to fly by the seat of my pants and try things out on my own!) I wasn't sure how the pens would interpret the lines and overall design of the cut file.
It created a beautiful outline of the flowers for me to color in. Fun!
Before I go much further, I want to let you know that I created a process video for the page I'm sharing with you today. It's less than 10 minutes and you get to see my entire process of coloring and building the page around the florals. If that's something you like to view, you can check it out here:
If watching a video isn't the way for you, no worries! I'll still show you a few details of my page. Here it is in its full glory:
You can see how I utilized the florals to help balance out the page. I also pulled some florals from the Simple Stories Summer Vibes collection used, to help bring the floral element together.
When I'm creating, I do a lot of pushing around with papers and figuring out how different patterns and colors look when layering. It's a fun, and sometimes exhausting, process. If you choose to watch the video, you'll see that in its full glory.
To color in the florals, I used my Pitt Artist Pens from Faber Castell. I love these pens. They are india ink so, they give a really cool stained look and are easy to blend.
Here are some close up shots of my page:
I used one other cut file - the geotag and right here phrase are from the Around the World cut file group. So cute and fun for those vacation and travel pages.
Do you have sketch pens? Get them out and have some fun! They really do help stretch the use of your cut files!
Digital Down Time April 23, 2016 08:00
Are your kids digitally plugged in and addicted? I have a 13 and 9 year old who both have their own iPad minis and are thrilled when they are allowed to play on them. Time is limited with all the swimming and school work but when there is down time, they like to have their games. This layout shares my sons love of the mini while sharing my love for digital cut files!
What better way to share the digital love than with this digital cut file from the store called Graphic Chevron Background? It has a techy feel to it and is just perfect for the digital theme of the layout.
The white background cardstock was cut using the background file and I used patterned papers behind the main background to add the color and visual interest to the layout. The header and footer of the page are various pieces of scrap patterned paper, washi and stickers that accompany the Simple Stories collection.
Thanks for stopping into the Just Nick blog today! If you use this cut file or any other, be sure to tag #JustNickStudio and share your creations with us!
