Let It SNOW! January 05, 2017 07:00
Hi everyone, Heather Leopard is here with another version of word play this week. I'm still working on my December Memories album, which isn't a typical album but rather a Traveler's Notebook.
So there you have it. One single chosen word turned this mini layout into a snow lover's paradise! It sparked the idea for the snowflake background and is adorned with snowy embellishments.

Happy Saturday, Just Nick friends! It's Jaclyn here to share my latest scrapbook page featuring a bevy of Just Nick designs.
For some reason, the sticky summer heat has me digging into to my winter photos. I guess I'm looking to escape the humidity and hot temperatures, even in my craft room!
As I pull out these pictures, I'm naturally digging into Just Nick's holiday and winter themed cut files from last year, to create the perfect pairing. It's been fun to rediscover many of these wintery designs.
The snowflakes cut file has always been a favorite of mine. I love that it includes a combination of basic, graphic designs alongside frilly and intricate snowflakes. I varied the sizes of the flakes and cut them all out from an ombre blue patterned paper. Adorning the centers of the snowflakes with sequins and epoxy dots provides the perfect finishing touch.
I also snuck in the snowflake background along the left edge of the page. I sized it to 12" tall and cut it out of white cardstock. Laying it atop of a white background creates a subtle reinforcement of the page theme, in addition to some added texture.
My page would not be complete without scanning the Just Nick word and alpha cut files for just the right typography and title. I combined the word 'dude' from sk8er and 'this' from summer cards to finish off my page.

14 Days Of Holidays Giveaway - Day 10 December 14, 2015 00:00 4 Comments
Hello JustNick friends!

Today's design - Candy Cane Background - is yours for FREE today only!
Lee-Anne here today with a festive layout for the holiday season.
For my layout, I used the Candy Cane Background. I cut it out on white card stock with my electronic die cutting machine and backed it with some red patterned paper to look like a candy cane. I wanted to define the white more and add more texture so I added some machine stitching using red thread.
As you probably have noticed, I didn't stop there. There are so many awesome holiday cut files in the Just Nick Shop, that I decided to go further and cut out the Snowflake Background cut file on some vellum. To separate the snowflakes in the background I released the compound path on my Silhouette Cameo, resized the snowflake shapes and then cut them out.
I love the new Holiday Words cut file so I used the word "snow" and "magic" for my title and cut it out on white card stock and placed it in the middle of my layout.
For most of my layouts, I like to add shadows and dimension so when I saw the Holiday Card Overlay 1 Cut File, I instantly knew that the snowflakes overlay would be perfect to add to the layout. For this, I backed it with patterned paper and popped it up with foam squares.
As you can see, the overlay isn't only for cards, it also works great for layouts and project life layouts as well. Here is a more detailed closeup of my layout.

14 Days of Holidays - Day 6! December 08, 2015 07:00 4 Comments
Welcome to Day 6 of our 14 Days of Holidays cut file giveaways! Each weekday from December 1-18, 2015 we will be giving away a FREE cut file for that day only!
It's Jaclyn joining you on the blog today to show your how I've used the snowflake background design, to create not one but two festive holiday cards.
I sized the file to about 6.5" by 7.5". Doing so allowed me to cut a piece that was big enough to use for both of my card designs, with only one pass of the diecutting machine.
For this first card, I layered a portion of the background onto a piece of patterned paper that was trimmed to fit my card front. I trimmed off the excess portion of the diecut design and set it aside for my next card.
I used Versamark ink and glitter embossing powder to add a whole lot of sparkle to my diecut design. Not only does it allow the snowflakes to stand out against the patterned background, but it's just plain pretty! Adorning the centers of several of the snowflakes with gems and rhinestones is a fun finishing touch.
As noted, my next card design utilizes the leftovers from the first card - a great way to stretch your diecuts and save on time! I simply trimmed out two of the remaining snowflake designs, layered them onto one another, and stitched on a pretty coordinated button.
This dimensional, layered snowflake makes for a perfect centerpiece to the design.
