Hi Just Nick friends!  It's Jaclyn joining you today to share a pink and girly page featuring the equally feminine Floral Swag 2 digital design.

Oftentimes when I cut a digital file on my silhouette I will default to using white cardstock.  I do this because, white allows for the ability to add color through inks or paints and provides a nice contrast against bold and busy patterns papers. However, when I decided to use the Floral Swag 2 design, I knew that cutting it from plain white just wouldn't do - so I opted for a simple patterned paper instead.  Cutting it from a subtle polka dot pattern with splashes of pink, feels a bit unexpected and kicks up the design a notch, I think!

This pretty cut file nestles nicely in between my rows of photos.  It's placement is strategic, as it draws your eyes to the photos, page title and journaling, seamlessly.

I used a few additional Just Nick designs to embellish my floral swag.  I pulled the brush script 'you' from the Simple Sentiments file to create my page title.  Cutting this pretty word design from black really allows it to pop off the page.

I also cut some additional pink florals from the Stems for Stephanie file to layer atop the swag, creating even more depth and dimension. A sprinkle of ephemera diecuts and three dimensional embellishments really make this piece special.

I loved the challenge of mixing a brand new design with some of Nicole's older and well loved files in my digital cut library.  I hope it's a challenge you will try too!

Pinterest Inspired Mother's Day Cards | Jaclyn Rench May 08, 2017 07:00

Happy Monday, Just Nick friends!  It's Jaclyn joining you on the blog today.  I'm excited to kick off the week as the design team shares projects with you that have been inspired by Pinterest.
As I anticipated this assignment, I knew I'd want to look at my pinterest boards to gather inspiration for Mother's Day cards.
I found this image that I had pinned and immediately knew I could recreate this same type of floral heart with the Stems for Stephanie cut file.
To ensure that my finished design would fit on a standard sized card front, I sized my florals down dramatically, cutting several versions of the file from a pile of scraps of pretty pink patterned papers.  I had fun layering the different shapes and sizes of flowers and love the dimension and texture it adds to my card.
Black enamel dots and a sprinkling of clear sequins add a special finishing touch to the card design.

My second card was inspired by an entirely different piece.  I have long had a thing for wreaths, both in home décor and paper crafting, so it was no surprise that I came across a wreath related image while perusing my boards

When I spotted this image in particular, I knew I could create a similar look by using the inside of the wreath to frame out my sentiment.

I sized the Wreath and Floral Wreaths cut files to fit atop a 5" square card, and printed out a favorite quote on a white cardstock circle to fit inside the layered pieces.

Again, adding a sprinkling of enamel dots, this time in the same color family, creates extra texture and interest.

This was a fun creative challenge and one I'll certainly revisit again.  I hope you'll stick with us on the blog, all week long, to see how each designer interprets this pinterest inspired challenge!

Friends Become Our Chosen Family May 06, 2017 11:00

Hello JustNick Studio friends. Happy National Scrapbook Day!

Marcia here today with some scrappy inspiration and a FREE cut file! I love using circle frames around my photos. Floral Ring 2 is a new digital cut file, so I thought I would use it to showcase a photo of my besties.

To add dimension to my layout, I layered some more flowers on top of the Floral Ring. These are from the Stems For Stephanie digital cut file.

I used one more cut file today. I just love this title, Friends Become Our Chosen Family. These wonderful women really are like family for me. They were neighbors but most have moved away, still we get together at least once a month.

Here the cut files I used today...

If you are interested in watching my process video, here it is ...

Thanks so much for stopping by. You can grab the FLORAL RING 2 cut file for free using the code: RINGFREE at checkout until midnight on May 7, 2017 only!

Pinterest inspired cards September 16, 2015 08:00

Hello Just Nick friends!  It's Jaclyn here today to share with you a couple of cards I made inspired by two very different, yet inspiring images I found on pinterest!

Aside from scrapbooking and papercrafting, I also claim cookie decorating as one of my most enjoyed hobbies.  Therefore, I'm often perusing pinterest for creative images and ideas for my next baking project.  I ran across this beautiful array of rainbow colored butterfly cookies on pinterest and fell in love!  I knew this particular cookie design was way beyond my skill set, but since it looked just like the watercolor designs we're often seeing in cardmaking, I saved it.  I just knew it would be the perfect inspiration piece for my next card design.

Ali Bee's Bake Shop: From the vault: Colorful Butterflies:

There was no question that I would use the Butterfly Background cut file, as a starting point for my card.  I ended up sizing the file to 4"x5" and cutting it from Tim Holtz watercolor paper, knowing that I'd want to do a watercolor treatment, as inspired by the original image.  I used a water pen and a stack of my favorite ink pads to create a gradient rainbow effect, from the bottom to the top of my butterfly cut.

Once cut and watercolored, the butterfly piece makes a bold statement all on it's own.  Therefore, I knew I'd want to keep the rest of the card pretty sleek and simple to let the butterflies shine.  I used a white background and added some subtle details including machine stitching and a scattering of bling, again, all in white, to keep the focus on the butterflies.  A bold, black, stamped sentiment ties in the theme of the card and draws your focus to the center.

My next inspiration piece was one I discovered as I was searching for wedding themed inspiration.  My cousin will be married next month, and since I can't attend the wedding, I wanted to make an extra special card to send along with her gift.  This papercrafted boutineire caught my eye immediately and brought to mind the Stems for Stephanie cut file in the Just Nick shop.

Accessorize your significant other on your #wedding day with a custom boutonniere. #DIY:

I significantly sized down and cut the Stems for Stephanie florals from a bookprint paper, as inspired by the pinterest image. Layering the florals and topping them each with decorative button centers, make them the star of the card design.

The Stems leaf file is a perfect match to these pretty flowers, too.  I cut the leaves out of varying green papers and tucked them under the edges of the floral cluster.

Finally, I looked to the Card Sentiments 1 cut file for the perfect congratulatory greeting.  Cutting the sentiment from gold glittery paper finishes off the sophisticated and elegant feel of this design.

The next time you're stuck for inspiration, pinterest is a good place to start and the Just Nick cut file store is sure to have the perfect design to match your inspiration piece!

Flowers are My Favorite! July 29, 2015 07:00

Hey, it's me again...Guiseppa!  I just have to say that there have been so many wonderful projects created by the design team here at JustNick!  I have been so impressed and I am thrilled that I get to share with you mine!  So, if you want to get in on the JustNick crafty bandwagon...check out her amazing cut files!

My assignment this time around was flowers.  Now, I don't know about all of you, but flowers are a staple for me.  I could use them on almost every layout I create.  For this project, I used the Crazy Daisy Background and the Stems for Stephanie cut files.

As you can see here I used Silhouette's Black Sketch Pen to create my background.  Have a look at the adorable title...yep, another JustNick cut file, Wild & Free.

Here are a couple of pictures of the flower cut file I used.  I love this cut file because it comes with a variety of flowers and it's an awesome go to cut file for flowers.  I know I will be using this one often.

Thanks for stopping in and I hope you have enjoyed my project!  Make sure you check out the JustNick Online Store and download some fabulous cut files to play with! Until next time!

XOXO...I love This Little Guy! June 16, 2015 07:00

I can't tell you how excited I am to be here and creating for the JustNick Design Team.

Guiseppa here and I love crafting with my my Silhouette Cameo.  The JustNick cut files are absolutely fabulous and I am thrilled to be sharing with you what I create using these files.

I made this fun layout using the XOXO Background and the Stems for Stephanie cut files.  The cute puppy...well that is my little Maltese Rango.  Ever since we got him, he has become such a big part of our family.  He is so deserving of a cute layout don't you think?

The Stems for Stephanie file is perfect for layering.  All of the flowers fit really well together and I love working with flowers on my projects.

Background files add so much to a layout.  If I feel that my layout is lacking something...I find a background file and add it in.  The JustNick Store has so many fun background files and all of them so fun and unique.  I'm going to be a busy girl playing with all of these.

I hope you have enjoyed my project today.  I look forward to sharing many more projects with you and these awesome cut files.  Make sure you are stopping by the JustNick Store frequently because new files are added weekly!  Until next time and happy cutting!
