Hello JustNick Studio friends!

Marcia here today. I was dog sitting for my daughter last week and she asked me to try to take some cute photos of her rescue dog Nana. This little old lady is a spitfire,so much personality in that teeny body! This photo was one of my favorites and I couldn't wait to scrap it.

I started off with a Mixed Media background page from Vicki Boutin because I loved how the yellow matched Nana's flower collar, the coral pink matched her tongue, and the peach matched her coloring. I wanted to keep those same colors as I added my embellishments and title. I cut the Mirrored Florals design from white cardstock thinking it would be a nice frame for my photo, but it covered up too much of the background. I used it instead for interest at the top and bottom of my layout. The Stencil Alphabet cut file was used for my title and each letter was cut from a variety of pattern papers, mostly from my older 6x6 paper pads.

I used those same pattern papers plus a few more to cut a bunch of butterflies using the new Butterfly cut file. I layered a solid butterfly underneath each intricate cut butterfly and stitched the layers together using my sewing machine. This gave my butterfly antennae and trailing strands to give my butterflies motion.

I also added some flowers from the Bloom and Stems cut files to create flowers to match the one in Nana's collar.

I just love how this layout turned out!

Here are the cut files I used today ...

Thanks so much for stopping by. Have a great weekend!

Fifth: Stencil Alphabet September 14, 2016 07:00

Hi there, Just Nick friends and fans!  It's Jaclyn joining you today, to share a page featuring the newest alphabet cut file in the shop: Stencil Alphabet.
I used the cut file to create a big bold title for my page documenting my oldest son's first day of school this year.  The alpha pairs well with a school themed design and makes quite a statement when it's sized to fit the width of the page.
I adjusted the sizing of each letter to just over 2.5"x 1.75", and cut them all out of kraft cardstock.  I backed each one, filling the negative space of the cut, with a different 'school themed' patterned paper.  Doing this not only reinforces the theme of my design but it also gives the title plenty of interest and presence.
A couple of the letters are mounted to the page with foam adhesive and they were all embellished with stamping, stickers and/or other bits and pieces.
This was a fun an easy cut file to work with.  I can see myself using it time and time again, simply by varying up the sizing and papers used, to create an entirely different design.  I hope you'll give it try and share with us your results!  Load it up to our Facebook page or tag us on Instagram with the hashtag #justnickstudio.
