Make A Splash | Stuck Sketches | Michelle Whorwood September 21, 2016 07:00 2 Comments
Hi Everyone, Michelle here with a layout to share as part of the Stuck Sketches collaboration. I really couldn't wait to do a multi-photo layout of our recent holiday to Fiji and the sketch Laura designed was a perfect one for it !!
I couldn't resist adding my photos on the angle and the rest of my layout flowed from there. I had been eyeing up the fabulous Summer Fun and Summer Lovin' cut files and enjoyed using the icons from the Summer Fun set as embellishments on my page - there are lots of elements that are perfect for beachy photos in this set. I then created my title 'Make A Splash' from the Summer Lovin' cut file set. Don't be afraid to split up the cut files to make them work on your layouts as I have done on my title here to frame my bottom photo.

Thanks so much for stopping by the Just Nick blog today! I hope you play along with this sketch as there is an opportunity to win a $25 store voucher to the cut file store!!
You Anchor Me | Summer Fun | Michelle Whorwood September 12, 2016 07:00
This is such a fun set to use with lots of cute icons for summer. I ungrouped and enlarged the 'anchor' and cut it out on patterned paper and placed it under my photo to 'anchor' my photo so to speak! I also used the play on the word anchor in my title 'You Anchor Me' which is a fun way of linking my photo to the cut file as well. I also cut out the pineapple and the watermelon shape from the cut files and added them as embellishments - mainly because this photo was taken of hubby and myself on our recent trip to Fiji.

Thanks for stopping by today, I hope I have inspired you to scrap some summer photos using this cool cut file.
Every summer has a story September 07, 2016 07:00
Hello everyone! Donna here for my first post this month of September. Wow.. September already?! How time flies!
It's still summer here in this part of the world and still hot as ever. Temperature ranges from 32-45 deg Celsius (sometimes higher!) and all you want to do is stay inside your home with the AC full blast! lol!
It's a good thing that there are tons of homes with private indoor pools you can rent for a day or two (or longer if you have that much money lol!). And no, you can't swim in public here, it's not allowed to be seen in public esp women without the black, long dress called Abaya.
Anyway, we already had our first summer escapade last May and it was sure a lot of fun!
I used one of the "decent" photos of my daughter running around the pool lol! She was so excited but didn't want to stay in the water because it was a bit cold. But she did a lot of running around and made her daddy so tired haha!
For my layout, I used 3 different cut files: Summer Lovin, Summer Fun and Floral Circle Doily
To create layers, I used another doily to mat the Floral Circle Doily and tons of light pink thread under the photo, which were also matted with a couple of papers.
Used my Promarkers to color a couple of the Summer Fun cut files
To break the colorful elements, I turned one of the photo in black and white. Also added bits of black-grayish stickers
Matting the big title was not my original plan but when I laid everything down, I thought it looked bleh over the neutral background. So I adhered it to an orange with white polka dot patterned paper and fussy cut. Would have been much better if I did the cutting using my Silhouette Cameo as well, lol!
I wrote the journaling with pencil first before writing permanently using a black pen.
I just love this limited edition Summer kit from Clique Kits and have few more projects to share in my next posts. So watch out for those :D

That is all for me today! I hope you liked my page!

Summer Fun Cards August 31, 2016 07:00
The citrus pieces first caught my eye. They could be used for so many things but my first thought was to use them in accompaniment with a sweet thank you note. I pulled the pretty script 'thank you' sentiment from the Simple Card Sentiments file.
I cut the citrus pieces from patterned paper to mimic a lime, lemon and orange slice. Each one was then backed with a coordinating solid and white cardstock. A few strategically placed sequins finish off the card in an eye-catching manner.
The sunglass icon was another fun design that stood out to me upon first glance. Cutting the eyewear pieces out of bright patterned papers makes for a fun and energetic birthday greeting.
Have you ever explored the cut files Nicole has designed specific to card making? The Card Sentiments 1 file included the word 'happy' which proved to be a fun typographic element amongst the diecut icons and stamped birthday greeting.
The Summer Fun cut file is must have for bright and festive greeting cards and/or for scrapping your favorite summer memories!
