Meet our March GDT + Freebie time !! March 17, 2017 07:00 4 Comments

It's that time of the month again - time for a new talented Guest Designer to join us on the blog!

Please help me welcome Amanda-Jayne Baldwin today!

My name is Amanda-jayne Baldwin, (aka AJ or @happy_arty_days) and I am super delighted to be a Guest Designer for Just Nick this month! I am a 38yold papercrafting and mixed media artist located in sunny Adelaide, South Australia. I am wife to the most patient man ever, mum to 2 beautiful children who are usually the subjects in my scrapbooking ventures, and a Visual Art Educator for Little Picassos. My style is fun, fresh, contemporary, with a love of colour, a feminine twist & usually features a little mixed media element too! I am lucky to have been on a number of amazing design teams over the last few years, and currently design for Cocoa Vanilla Studio, Pinkfresh Studio, & Paper Issues.

We asked Amanda to make a few projects using our cut files and check out what she sent us:

For this layout, I wanted to share how fabulous Just Nick cut files are for using up those patterned papers that are left over in your stash. From time to time, I order papers that when they arrive, I find myself asking what was I thinking?! That's what this layout is all about!
I've used the gorgeous Simple Stories collection (it was so pretty I ordered everything) but what to do with that mint and gold foil arrow paper? A background cut file of course!
So, I used the stunning Heart background 2 design, and then as I was peeling it off my mat, I realized that I loved the other spotty dotty side too! Rather than throw my 'scraps' or negative pieces into the recycling bin, I decided to reveal those dotty paper hearts, and layer them over my heart background and to matte my photo onto! I really like how effective this looks! I stitched it all into place for added to texture and dimension. I wanted my title, Sunshine & HAPPINESS to have an almost ombre look to it, so I cut it in white cardstock, & handcoloured it with Gelatos! A really fun and fabulous mixed media layout that stashbusts those otherwise unusable patterned papers. Perfect!

Created with Cocoa Vanilla Studio's Endless Summer collection, this layout is soft, delicate & pretty! I love that it demonstrates how essential a cutifle background is! The paper pieced XOXO is a real statement piece, and takes this layout from good to WOW! & that's why this is a must have cutfile for your library!
It's such a verstatile file too - while XOs are often associated with Valentine's creations, this was perfect for my 2 precious lil people! Love how the distressed woodgrain pattern paper really makes the white cardstock XOXOs really pop too! Awesome! I think I will be re-using this file over and over again! ;)

Sunshine & Happiness September 02, 2015 07:00

Hello JustNick friends!

Marcia here today to share my latest layout using some fabulous JustNick cut files. I was drawn to the Sunshine & Happiness cut file since my husband and I recently returned from a short weekend getaway to the Apostle Islands in Lake Superior. We found a gorgeous beach on Madeline Island to spend the day. Here is how my layout turned out ...

The Twilight Zone Background was perfect to draw the eye to the focal point of my layout, a large photo that I centered in the middle.

I framed a couple of wallet photos using two of the Polaroid frames. I love how these turned out.

Here are the cut files that I used ...

Sunshine & Happiness. August 31, 2015 07:00

I don't know about your summer, but mine was full of activities.  The very last one was spent in Carlsbad, California, after my daughter's soccer tournament.  We decided to take advantage of the end of the day to play in the sun and surf.  Not only was it less crowded but it was also cooler AND we got to enjoy the sunset.  With that in mind I made this layout using three different cuts from August's uploads:

the three cuts that I used Sunshine & Happiness:

Twilight Zone:

Chain Reaction background:

here is a little closeup of the twilight zone & chain reaction:

As you can see from this closeup, I cut part of the Chain Reaction background to layer up underneath my picture.  With the Twilight Zone background I cut it out of kraft cardstock and backed it with some pattern paper.

Lastly the title was cut with orange yardstick and then I misted it with some ColorShine to give it some shine like the sunset:

We would love to see any of your creations made with JustNick cuts.  Please feel free to share them on our Facebook page and Instagram.
