Simple Stories Team Up! October 22, 2016 16:00

Have you enjoyed our team up with Simple Stories this week?

I am in awe of all the amazing creations from both teams using our cut files and the Hello Fall collection from Simple Stories. As the lady who creates all these cut files, it is always a treat for me to see how others use them. I am always so excited when I spot one of our cut files used on a project (and we love you sharing them with us too!)

I had a chance to play along for this team up. I could hardly wait to rip into the Hello Fall collection and get started. But what cut files to use!? There were so many fall files I wanted to add in, so had to reign myself in a bit. I actually came up with 2 projects for this swap, as I just couldn't choose!

I really love all the pretty colors in this collection, and started out by diecutting a whole heck of a lot of leaves from various papers in the mini kit. I balanced it around a diecut scribble shape that was a freebie I made for Scrapbook and Cards Today magazine (download lots of my freebies HERE). I added in a light wash of some watercolor paint to the white background... it is quite light as I am trying to get the hang of them without being too heavy handed :)

I really love how easy it was to pair the diecuts from the store along with the diecut stickers from the Simple Stories collection. Looks like it was meant to be!

Next, I created this page with the Fall Y'All cut file. I love the scripty font mixed in with some leaves. It is pretty intricate, so I do recommend you cut it a little larger than normal (or use a super new blade)

I cut the title twice and layered the orange letters over the white grid to add a small layer of dimension and pop of color too! I backed the leaf with some scraps from the collection too, so the middle leaf wasn't so stark white.

I simply added in lots of Simple Stories loveliness from here - some stickers popped up, fussy cut leaves and a journaling card from the cut apart sheet. Love those! I love a good woodgrain paper and Simple Stories has a great set that I like to keep in my "background" paper stash.

That's it for me today - and our Team Up too! I want to thank Layle and all the talented ladies from Simple Stories (and our team) for sharing all their amazing projects this week!

Thank you all for stopping by and checking out our blog, Facebook page and Instagram! We appreciate all your support!

Girl of Autumn - Stuck?! Sketches Team Up September 24, 2016 07:00

Hello hello hello everyone!  It's Cathy and I'm back with another layout to share with you!  This time I'm getting ready for my favourite season, and what better way to get in the mood for Fall than to scrap about it!  I used 2 cut files from Just Nick this time.  I used her Floral Wreaths cut file as well as her new Leaves 2 cut file!  I just love the look of the stark white leaves and wreath against the wood grain of the back ground paper.  The leaves would look amazing backed with beautiful patterned paper as well but for this layout I love them on their own.  I tend to be a scrapper who only scraps one or two photos per layout so I altered the sketch a bit to suit the picture that I wanted to use.  I also changed the title position, since I decided to go with such large chipboard letters!  Thank you so much for stopping by and don't forget to pop over to the Stuck?!Sketches blog, because if you play along with the sketch you have a change to win a prize from Just Nick!

P.S. Don't forget to take a look and be sure to take a peek at my process video for this layout!

Hi Just Nick fans!

It's Tarrah here with you and today I am excited to be sharing my layout for the team up between Just Nick Studio and Stuck?! Sketches.....my layout of course features Nicole's awesome cut files and you can see my interpretation of the fabulous sketch that Laura designed from Stuck?! Sketches!

Here are the awesome Just Nick cut files I used for my layout...the Gamer cut files...perfect for my son who LOVES to play his Playstation!

I used up some of my Simple Stories 'So Rad' collection from my stash...it goes perfectly with these cut files...I resized them a little bit to work with them into my layout....I made the headphones a bit bigger, the controller a bit smaller and the Gamer title slightly bigger too!

Here is Laura's awesome sketch she designed! Make sure you check out the Stuck Sketches?! blog for all the inspiration using this same sketch!

Some detail photos showing how the Just Nick cut files compliment the sketch and the So Rad collection....

Thank you so much for joining me on the Just Nick Studio blog today! I hope you were inspired to try out the sketch using some of the amazing Just Nick cut files in store now!

Happy creating!

Be brave | Stuck? Sketches Team Up September 20, 2016 07:00 1 Comment

Hello everyone!

Donna here to share my take on the Stuck? sketches and Just Nick Studio team up.

Here is the sketch provided

A sketch is meant to be an inspiration, a starting point. I think you don't have to follow it as is, it is a way to get creative. Just like I did on my page.

Since I had my photos printed prior to the sketch, I needed to improvise. Instead of using 3 photos, I used a couple of frames and tucked them under my photo.

To make the cut file stand out, I painted it with brown watercolor And because I love flowers/florals, I had fun fussy cutting one of the papers in the kit ("Moon Child" by Clique Kits)

Cut file used: Rustic leaf frame

Thanks for dropping by!

Don't forget if you decide to play along with the Sketch you get a chance to win a $25 gift certificate!

Happy crafting,

Stuck?! Sketches team up! September 18, 2016 09:00 1 Comment

Good morning everyone! Nicole here to let you know all about a team up that we will be sharing, starting tomorrow, on our blog with the team of Stuck?! Sketches!

Laura has created a great sketch for some of our teams to both use, and we have combined some of our JustNick cut files with that same sketch for some fun results!

I played along with the sketch too and thought I would share a preview of that today. A sketch can truly do wonders for my mojo, and adding in some cut files, make a page come together quite easily too!

I used the new Rustic Leaf Frame cut file for this page, and you can see it makes a large impact on the page. Once I die cut it from the patterned paper, I simply added a few pieces of green behind the leaves and voila!

I added in some popped up diecut stickers and enamel dots around the frame area. I love combining the die cut frame with products I can easily get from a manufacturer!

I also die cut the same leaves and stems out of vellum in a slightly smaller size and tucked those in around the frame to add some softness to the ring area.

Cut files used:

Leaves 2

Stems 2

Rustic Leaf Frame

Now, I am sure you will be able to do wonders with this same sketch! Come back tomorrow to see the sketch and what Laureen did with it! Plus, you will get a chance to win a $25 gift certificate to our store too! A win -win I think!

Have a creative Sunday!

Let's Go Play - JustNick & Jillibean Soup Team Up! August 26, 2016 07:00 5 Comments

Hey everyone it's Cathy here and I'm back with another layout, this time using the amazing JustNick Studio cut files and products from Jillibean Soup

I love this team up and had so much fun creating a cute layout using the Jillibean Soup Mushroom Medley collection and the Scallop cut file!  The Mushroom Medley collection has so many cute and fun elements, it's perfect for outdoor layouts, seasonal layouts, or any type of layout actually!  I loved the masculine colours in the collection and I decided I back one of Nicole's cut files with as many patterned papers as I could!

I used a fun picture of my youngest as I found it really matched well with the collection.  I scoured over all the cut files in the shop and I eventually decided I wanted to do a scallop background.  I know many would consider scallops to be a bit girly but I loved how they added a feeling of motion to the layout, and since that was what I was trying to get across they went perfectly!  I also have a process video so don't forget to check that out to see how I made my layout!

Oh and be sure to leave a comment on this post for a chance to win!  Feel free to leave comments on the Jillibean Soup blog as well!

JustNick + Jillibean Soup = fun! August 25, 2016 07:00 4 Comments

Hey everyone! Nicole here today to share a fun about me project for our team up with my friends at Jillibean Soup

I am lucky enough to be on the Jillibean Soup team, and they are a great group of people. I love their products and truly create some of my most favorite projects with their products. I decided to do an about me page with a few cut files from the store.

I used the two new Jillibean Soup collections, Hardy Hodgepodge and Chit Chat Chowder on this page. I started by diecutting the title from various papers in both collections, using the Simple Set Alpha from the store. I love the playful and simple letters, and mixing the colours is lots of fun too!

Next, I wanted to fill the bottom of the page, but didn't want to use my typical background cut file, so I diecut a bunch of different labels from Labels One, again in varying papers from the Jillibean Soup collections.

I added in some diecut Ink Splats and then added in a bunch of Jillibean Soup stickers, wood enamel dots and wood veneers to finish my page quite easily.

I love how it all came together quickly, and colorfully too!

Cut files used:

Simple Set Alphabet

Labels One

Ink Splats

Now for the fun stuff! Leave a comment here on this post, or over on the Jillibean Soup blog (or on our @justnickstudio instagram) and have a chance to win a $25 gift certificate to our store!

I hope you are enjoying this team up and all the fun projects that are being shared!

Love this Moment | Michelle Whorwood July 28, 2016 07:00

Hi everyone!

Michelle here with a new layout for you today.  As you know Just Nick Studio has teamed up with Creative Scrappers with a fab sketch and cool free cut file available for you all to play along with us.  Here is the sketch:

Here is the cut file you can get for FREE using the code: CSFREE at checkout!

No purchase necessary.

Here is my take on the sketch with the cut file.

I loved using this background file and cut it out on some white cardstock before adding some wood grained paper underneath it as well.  I wanted to replicate the circles on the sketch as well and the 'circle sentiments'  cut file works perfectly as a layering element on my page.  This was such a fun cut file to use and so versatile too.  Here are some close ups:

Thanks for stopping by the Just Nick blog today!  Hope you are enjoying our team up with Creative Scrappers and I would love to see your layouts if you play along with us too!

Today we celebrat YOU: Creative Scrappers Team-up July 26, 2016 07:00

Hi Just Nick friends!  It's Jaclyn here to share my take on the Creative Scrappers team up.  As you can see from my layout, I chose to use the negative cuts from the cut file to layer atop of my base patterned paper.

I wanted some of the patterns I chose to be more noticeable on the design, while others might have been more bold and required less surface area.  To acheive this look, I ungrouped the file and changed the sizing on each 'chopstick', adjusting the widths as seen below...

One extra wide strip, provided for nice placement of my title and journaling.

I also chose to stitch on many of the strips for added dimension and texture.  It's a quick and easy solution for dressing up your cut files!

You can get the Chopsticks Background cut file for FREE this month! Just use the code CSFREE at checkout!

I hope you'll create something, and if you do, be sure to share it on the Creative Scrappers blog so you have a chance to win a $25 gift certificate to the Just Nick shop!

Real Life - Creative Scrappers Team Up July 25, 2016 07:00

Hello everyone! Donna here to share my Just Nick Studio and Creative Scrappers team up page.

I resized the Chopsticks cut file so it's thinner than the original size.

Then I adhered them really close and overlapping each other

I clustered and layered bits and pieces of elements in the center of the overlapped strips of papersDonna Espiritu, Just Nick Studio, Creative Scrappers, layout01b

I fussy cut the flowers, leaves and other elements from Clique Kits' June Kit 'La Dolce Vita' featuring Elle's Studio, Jillibean Soup among other products.

did a little of mixed media on the background for a splash of color

Gum Wall - with Creative Scrappers July 22, 2016 07:00

Hello there!

Melissa here and I'm happy to be sharing with you my page created using the FREE cut file, and sketch, as part of the team up with Creative Scrappers. I have to say, this page has fast become a favorite of mine and I truly think the credit has to be given to an awesome sketch and a super fun cut file!

Here is the page I created:
This was relatively a simple page to put together. Time consuming - a little bit with taping the papers behind the cut out background but, adding the clustered embellishments and washi tape, took no time at all.
I've said it before and, I'll keep saying it - background cut files are my favorite because they give the illusion of lots of detailed work when, in reality, they take no time at all!
I followed the sketch pretty closely. Sketches are great because they can give that spring board of inspiration when in a rut. I love how, sometimes, my pages morph into something else but, this one, I stayed pretty close. It was just that good! And it worked perfect for my photos! (Ewwww... that gum wall was disgusting!)
Here are a few close ups:
Thanks for swinging by today! Don't forget, you can get the Chopsticks Background cut file for FREE this month! Just use the code CSFREE at checkout! After you create something, make sure to share it on the Creative Scrappers blog so you have a chance to win a $25 gift certificate to the Just Nick shop. Wow!!!

Not a Morning Person - Creative Scrappers Team Up July 21, 2016 07:00

Hi there Just Nick fans!

It's Tarrah McLean joining you here on the Just Nick blog and today I am sharing with you the layout I created for our recent team up with Creative Scrappers!

We were given this awesome sketch from the Creative Scrappers team to take inspiration from!

This is the July free cut file that we were to use with the sketch! Isn't it cool? I ungrouped the cut file and deleted some of the top rows so that it resembled the sketch a little better!

You can get it for free all month long until July 31st! Just put in this code at checkout: csfree

I have wanted an excuse to use those die-cuts and the acetate word for so long! One of my good friends sent me this photo to scrap and it was perfect to use for this layout! I mostly used the True Stories collection by Shimelle!

Thanks so much for stopping by the Just Nick blog today!

Life Is A Journey July 18, 2016 07:00

Hello everyone! It's Lee-Anne here and today I am sharing a travel layout of my son and daughter in law on their trip to Europe for the Just Nick Digital Cut Files and Creative Scrappers team up.  What a combination! Two of my favorite things are cut files and sketches.

I cut out the Chopstick Background from Just Nick with my Silhouette Cameo on a piece of white cardstock and used theSketch #296 from Creative Scrappers.  The papers from the Carta Bella Travel Stories worked perfectly with this cut file.  I like the way the words peeked through.

Here is the Chopsticks Background cut file.
You can download the cut file FREE HERE until July 31 just be sure and use the code  CSFREE  at checkout.
Also, if you link up the layout that you create with both the cut file and the sketch at Creative Scrappers you have a chance to win a $25 gift certificate from Just Nick.
Thanks for stopping by and have fun creating!

Hello love June 17, 2016 07:00

Hello everyone!
This month, Just Nick Studio teamed up with Clique Kits. You can check out my first page for the team up here

I made a second page to share with you all today

Donna Espiritu JustNick CliqueKits EllesStudio La Dolce Vita layout

I used one of the exclusive cut files created by Just Nick Studio for the June Kit "La Dolce Vita" featuring Elle's Studio Little Moments.

Used Gelatos on the background

I clustered several pieces of the cut files under the photo and layered bits and pieces of embellishments as well

After writing a bit of journaling using a waterproof pen, I used my brush to flicker tiny bits of diluted gelatos and let it totally dry.

You can still join the hop and start right on the Clique Kits blog.

I hope you liked my page!

Little Moments - Just Nick/Clique Kits Team Up June 16, 2016 07:00

Hello friends! It's Lee-Anne here and today I am sharing a layout using the Just Nick Floral Background cut file and the June Icons cut file.  Some members of the Just Nick design team were given the June Kit from Clique Kits to create with and it is really full of pretty papers and embellishments.

I really wanted the flowers and the pink ombre paper background to pop so I cut the Floral Background with my Silhouette Cameo on black cardstock and backed it with a soft pink paper that is included in Clique Kit's June Kit.

I also cut the cute little butterflies shapes that are included in the June Icons cut file set.  Machine stitching the butterfly acrylic shapes on top of the butterflies would add some more interest and because acrylic shapes are transparent, machine stitching or stapling them to the layout is really the only options.

Adding some embellishments around the title "Little Moments" draws the eye to the title.  I also added some machine stitching to the vellum.

Thanks for stopping by and be sure to check out all the designs in the Just Nick shop.  Have a creative day!

Little Moments by Tarrah McLean June 15, 2016 06:57

Hi everyone!

Tarrah here and today I am excited to share my scrapbook layout for the recent blog hop that was held between Just Nick Studio and Clique Kits!

I used the butterflies in the top right corner from this cut file, enlarging them to suit my layout..I thought the butterflies went perfectly with my soft baby theme....

I absolutely love the Elle's Studio Little Moments papers and embellishments that were included in the June Clique Kit! They matched perfectly with the cut files we were given to use with these beautiful kits.

I chose to use the beautiful butterfly cut files and I enlarged it to fit across my layout to sit above the 'Enjoy the Little Things' sentence.

Thank you so much for stopping by the Just Nick blog today!

Hello Summer - Apostle Islands June 13, 2016 07:00

Hello JustNick friends!

Marcia here today. The JustNick Studio design team has been busy creating with the June Clique Kit. This fabulous kit features the Elle's Studio Little Moments collection, Jillibean Soup Healthy Hello, and of course some Clique Kit exclusives ... like these awesome JustNick Studio digital cut files!

I love adding sun rays on my summer layouts. I couldn't resist using the sunshine icon in a big way on this vacation layout. I pieced some yellow Elle's Studio paper in the negative space that was from the 6x6 paper pad. This is a great way to use those smaller pieces of paper!

Last summer hubby and I escaped to the Apostle Islands in Lake Superior for an extended weekend. The only way to get to the island is by boat ... in our case it was the Madeline Island Ferry. The best part of all was going off grid. Yup no cell phone service except for in the town of La Pointe! No way for our 9 to 5 jobs to call us while we were on vacation!! It was pure bliss.  You are probably wondering what the heck that sign says! The Ojibwa Indian sign on my layout was at the beach. It says "No Life Guard On Duty ... No Diving Or Jumping From Bridge ... Swim At Your Own Risk". The Islands are beautiful and I had so many photos from our trip that I decided to create a couple filmstrips of images. I didn't want my layout to be too busy though so I added the Hello Summer icon in the middle. This worked out well for setting off my title too.

Here are some detailed shots....

I created a second layout using those darling butterflies and my daughter Naomi's fur baby! Princeton is a Corgi and Border Collie mix we think. He was adopted through a local rescue.

Here is a closer look at those awesome butterflies.

Thanks for stopping by! Be sure to check out the new cut files loaded in the JustNick Store.

Fancy Pants Designs Week! May 25, 2016 07:00 1 Comment

Nicole here today to share with you a page I made for our team up with the fantastic folks from Fancy Pants Designs!

I used the new Life is Beautiful collection for my page, along with a couple different cut files from the store.

I started by cutting the Butterfly Background from a simple black & white dot paper from the collection and then cut some smaller butterflies from different papers in the 6x6 paper pad in the same collection. I added some pop dots behind the wings of the smaller butterflies and stitched the two together.

I also diecut a border strip from the Scallop Edge Strips set and then a title and embellishments from the Life Is Beautiful collection from Fancy Pants (a new favorite of mine)

 Cut files used:

Hello everyone! Donna here to share with you my take on the Pinkfresh-Just Nick team up!

I used the LIFE NOTED collection from Pink Fresh Studio

and the Doodle flowers set from Just Nick Studio store

I used watercolors, gelatos, Tombow markers and Promarkers to color the cut flowers. I also doodled some dots and little hearts using a black pen to make the flowers stand out over the light background

I used one of the papers in the collection where it has the word LIFE and placed that to the right side of the page. I wrote my journaling in between the letters and used the yellow alphas as subtitle.

All week long we will be hopping with the team from Pinkfresh Studios! Leave a comment HERE and you could win a goodie bag from Pinkfresh Studios - head over to the Pinkfresh Studio blog and leave a comment for a chance to win  $25 gift certificate to the JustNick Store!

Happy Story April 07, 2016 07:00 18 Comments

Hello! It's Jaclyn joining you for the fourth day of the PinkFresh team up!

I paired some recent beach photos, that I snapped on Spring Break, with the Pink Fresh Life Noted collection and two complimentary Just Nick cut files.

The result is this fun and bright page, with lots of text and loads of personality!

I started with the Totally Tubular cut file, sizing it to approximately 7.75"x7.5", to fill a good portion of my page background.  I then pulled in three of the sentiments from the Live Love file, to fill in a scattering of the circles.

The bold blocky font from the Live Love cut file, looks great when backed with various Pink Fresh patterned papers.

I filled in and backed some of the remaining open circle cuts, with the Pink Fresh gold foiled chipboard and  pieces from the 3x4" printed cards.  The colorful rubber charms and a scattering of sequins were the perfect finishing touch for my design.

Pink Fresh's die cut acetate words make for a quick and cute title.  I love that they can be overlapped for a fun, layered look.  In addition, I was even able to attach them and layer them with a Life Noted washi tape sticker.

Cut files used:

Totally Tubular

Live Love

A Cut Above April 06, 2016 07:00 20 Comments

Hello JustNick friends!

Marcia here ... I am so excited to be back today for our team-up with PinkFresh Studios. I was thrilled to be given the opportunity to create with the Life Noted collection.

This is such a versatile collection and it has the coolest embellishments. Here is the layout I created ...

Did you see those acetate words? Swoon!

My daughter is a Vet student at the University here in Minnesota. This year she started performing surgeries. Of course she documented the event with a selfie, and of course I am scrapping it! Proud Mama moment! I used the Graphic Background digital cut file, cutting 2 so that they would span across the width of my layout. This graphic design is the perfect compliment to this piece of blue pattern paper that has lines criss-crossing it. The diagonals were perfect for framing these awesome embellishments like these gold epoxy stickers and these rubber pieces.

Here is that Graphic Background digital cut file ...

Both winners will be drawn on Monday April 11, 2016. Good luck!
