Grateful | Majken Pullin November 23, 2018 07:00

Hello JustNick fans!  Majken here with you again today, and this week I'm sharing a layout that expresses how grateful I am for my two kids.  Both had health issues when they were born, and because we are past all of the problems now, it makes me even more grateful.

I have used three cut files in my layout...can you spot them?

After cutting out the Grateful word and backing them with patterned paper, I popped up the title with 3D foam tape.  I love adding that extra depth to layouts.

My collection came with a lot of great floral ephemera, and I added to that with the Flowers 6 file.

I also wanted to add some extra interest to the right of the aqua paper edge, so I cut out the scallop strip and adhered it before machine stitching.

I love all the ways you can use cut files with your projects, including around your journaling like I did below.

Thanks so much for joining me on the JustNick Studio blog today.  I hope you have a wonderful week, and for those in the US, enjoy your Thanksgiving!

Grateful for Friends | Monique Liedtke November 21, 2018 07:00

Hi JustNick friends, Monique here today with a Thankful (or rather, Grateful) layout using the brand new "Retro Hip Background" cut file.

And this is the Retro Hip Background cut file:

When I saw this cut file I new I wanted to use it straight away. I love background cut files, they are always so versatile and can be used for any and every layout you want to create.

This week's theme for the DT to use is "Thankful", but as I also wanted to use the new Crate Paper Christmas collection "Merry Days" that had just arrived at my doorstep, I chose to combine the two and created a Thankful/Christmas layout.

I have this great group of friends that I love to spend time with and every year for the last 10 years or so, we get together on a Sunday in December to spend the day scrapping, talking, eating and be merry. I'm so grateful to be able to call these girls my friends that I decided to do this Thankful layout about them.

Here are a few close-ups of my page:

I just love Christmas collections and this one is no exception! This is the first Chrismas layout I created this year and I think the Retro Hip Background cut file is a perfect match for my page!

Thank you so much for stopping by the JustNick blog today and don't forget to check out the JustNick store for this and more background cut files

Thankful for You | Niki Rowland November 20, 2018 07:00

Hi Just Nick Fans, Niki here today to share a 'thankful' layout. We don't celebrate Thanksgiving in the UK but it still gets me thinking each year about what I am thankful for. I had a baby three months ago and he took much longer to come along than we had hoped and I am therefore so very thankful for him in our lives.
I've used the absolutely gorgeous Mandalla Leaf for this layout. This amazing cut file was new to the store im September and I've been itching to use it ever since.
I cut the Mandalla Leaf out of an ombre sheet of patterned paper. The collection I've used is Indigo Hills 2 by Pinkfresh Studio. I cut the leaf from the centre of the paper and used the edge of the sheet as a page border.
I attached the very beautiful leaf to my layout and added stitched details around the edge of the layout. I wanted to keep the layout quite minimal in order for the focus to stay on the leaf, ie I didn't want to cover too much of it up!
I used a small photo of me and my baby boy framed with ephemera and layered with a chipboard frame. I clustered my photo within the leaf and added my embellishments around the photo.
I added a small title with teeny alphabet stickers from the same collection and machine stitched through them.
I hope you enjoyed this layout - definitely try out this cut file, it is so very beautiful.
Happy scrapping xx

Thankful for Us by Niki Rowland November 23, 2017 07:00

Hi again! Niki here today with a 'thankful' layout. We don't have Thanksgiving here in the UK so this was a bit of a challenge for me but I am still thankful for many things, most of all my crazy family, so it was nice to write about how thankful I am for them.
I've used the Many Thanks cut file from the store, which has lots of Thankful sayings.
I cut two of the files from this set: Thankful and Grateful, both from white card.
I positioned these at the top and bottom of my layout. I added clusters around them and when I was happy with the positoning, I stitched them both through with machine stitching.
I added my photo and the word 'Love' and finished off the title at the top with extra alphabet stickers. I also extended the title at the bottom with the word 'heart' plus some smaller alphabet stickers too. I stitched through these too.
I finished off by writing my journaling and I also added some gold Heidi Shime and some sequins.
Even though this layout is really simple, I enjoyed working 'white on white' and keeping things to a minimum. My layouts are usually full of colour but I wanted to keep a serene tone to this layout which I think I've just about done.
Thanks for stopping by to see me, happy scrapping xx
(PS today is my birthday!)

Thankful for You Layout and card by Rachel Lowe: November 22, 2017 07:00

I love owls and this owl cut file is just so cute! I have used Bella BLVD Mind Your Manners collection to create my layout. I cut my owl with white card stock and then ungrouped the owl and used patterned paper to fill my owl. To finish it off I have machine sewn the wings.

I then chose the Card Sentiments 3 for my title and a card I knew I wanted to also make.

I decided to make a shaker pocket using vellum on the lower half of my layout. They are simple to make, cut your vellum paper the same size as your background paper, sew around the three edges leaving the top open. Add your sequins or similar (I have also add some small cork hearts) and then sew up the top.

I then added a bright coloured patterned paper piece to the top of my layout ensuring it covers the top of the vellum. I added a scallop border also between the pattern paper and vellum. I then attached my owl with foam tape. I then tucked my photo slightly under the owl. I have used the Thankful card sentiment enlarging.

I have added some typed journalling and finished my layout off adding a die cut owl and word sticker bottom right of the layout.

Now its time to shake!!!!!!!

I have used the exact same process to make my card just on a smaller scale. I have used the Grateful card sentiment and added inside my card. I used brighter coloured sequins on my card and added a die cut flower inside. My sequins are from Speigelmom Scraps and they are just gorgeous.

Thank you for stopping by today and have a wonderful scrappy week!
