Summer | Michelle Whorwood August 12, 2017 07:00
Hi everyone! Michelle here with a new summer filled layout to share with you today! I really love creating summer layouts especially down here in NZ when it is actually Winter it makes me feel a lot warmer and keeps me sane until summer arrives for us again. Here is my layout using the 'Summer' cut file to create my title!
As you can see below the 'Summer' cut file set includes five different cuts including gorgeous sun rays and lots of fun words along the summer theme! But for me I really wanted to go large with my title and I enlarged it to fit the full width of the 12x12 cutting mat and cut it out in a subtle patterned paper by Pink Fresh Studio. I then backed it on the soft buttery yellow cardstock as this colour just reminds me of sunny sunshine.
Once I had decided that my title would sit across the page in the lower two thirds of my page I created some interest with a mixed media background and then tucked my photo in and slightly over the two MMs of SUMMER. As the title is so large it doesn't matter that my photo slightly overlaps here as you can still make the the letters very easily. I then created lots of little embellishing around my photo and also on the bottom part of the R to give it some balance with my bottom cluster, my photo cluster and then this finishes the visual triangle.
Here are some close ups:
I hope you have enjoyed my 'summery' layout today!
Let the adventure begin and My word for the year January 20, 2016 07:00
Do you make resolutions or choose a word for the year? What kind of goals do you make as a new year begins? Ever since I heard about choosing a word, as opposed to a full on list of resolutions, I've gone gung-ho on the idea. And, each year I create either a scrapbook page or some other type of decor piece that focuses on my word.
This year, my word is REJOICE. I'm even using the "nickname" of this word - joy. One of the ways I am remembering and exercising this word is by continuing to do what I love - and that includes scrapbooking!
Here is the page I created (and then we'll chat about the cut files used):
I love these kinds of pages because I literally just pull out all my favorite things. No worry about manufacturer and what is what. I also decided to go pretty simple with the cut files. How cool does that white on kraft look??? It really does pop and helps to complete my overall design.
I just love the font of the title - Let the Adventure Begin. Which is so fitting for a page like this!
I purposefully left the title partially coming off the page. This was part laziness and part purposeful. I'm not sure the technical artsy term for doing something like this but, I do like the look for whatever reason. :)
Here is another close up of the circle year. You'll notice I trimmed part of it off to fit up against the paper.
Do you love these cut files as much as I do? Head over to the Just Nick shop and grab your own! Here are the ones that I used:
Flowers are My Favorite! July 29, 2015 07:00
Hey, it's me again...Guiseppa! I just have to say that there have been so many wonderful projects created by the design team here at JustNick! I have been so impressed and I am thrilled that I get to share with you mine! So, if you want to get in on the JustNick crafty bandwagon...check out her amazing cut files!
My assignment this time around was flowers. Now, I don't know about all of you, but flowers are a staple for me. I could use them on almost every layout I create. For this project, I used the Crazy Daisy Background and the Stems for Stephanie cut files.
As you can see here I used Silhouette's Black Sketch Pen to create my background. Have a look at the adorable title...yep, another JustNick cut file, Wild & Free.
Here are a couple of pictures of the flower cut file I used. I love this cut file because it comes with a variety of flowers and it's an awesome go to cut file for flowers. I know I will be using this one often.
Thanks for stopping in and I hope you have enjoyed my project! Make sure you check out the JustNick Online Store and download some fabulous cut files to play with! Until next time!
Go See Do Vacation Explore Adventure July 24, 2015 07:00
Hello JustNick friends!
Marcia here today with a vacation layout to share with you. I know lots of you have vacation pictures laying around so here is some inspiration on how you can scrap them. This is a pretty simple layout with the focus being on the cut file and my photo. I used the JustNick cut file On an Adventure and the Pink Paislee Atlas collection.
I love this cut file. The words "Go See Do Vacation Explore Adventure" just gets me all excited about an upcoming vacation I have planned. This is an intricate cut. If you have problems cutting more intricate designs, try double cutting them or use a new blade.
Thanks for stopping by. Be sure to check back often as Nicole is constantly adding awesome new files to the store.
You are my Happy Layout July 23, 2015 06:00
Hello there, Nicole Mantooth here today to share this layout with you featuring a word cut file. I love cut files that are words. Sometimes it makes picking a title that much easier. For this layout, this cut file inspired my entire layout. My husband and my 3 kids are my happy, so this page was just perfect. I had just taken a photo of myself with each of them when we were at Knott's Berry Farm the past weekend.
I printed my photos in black and white and I printed them all in a block so they were easy to line up on my layout, with the white border. I like white borders around the photos, just for an added interest. To me it draws your eye to the photos.
I cut my title out of a cream text paper and then a dark red and layered them so the red paper was behind to give it a shadow effect. I printed my journaling on kraft cardstock and added it to the bottom of my title. I also spritzed the entire layout with some white color mist before I added my photo block.
I laid down some striped patterned paper to frame out my photo. I then attached my photo and added some black decorative washi tape to the top of the photo, and bottom of the journaling square. I added the black elements just for some added color. There was a tiny pop of black in the striped paper behind the photo and I just thought it would be fun to bring that out. I was so excited when I was going through my stash of clothing tags and found the big black paisley sky one. It was the perfect element to add to the left side of the layout. I added some little tags and banners to the bottom right of the page and finished it off with some enamel dots and glitter stars in black and gold.
Thanks for stopping by and checking out my layout.
