You Make My Heart Smile - Cathy Martin February 25, 2018 07:00

Hey all, it's Cathy and I'm back with another layout to share with you!  This time I decided to use a cut file as a mask and use some spray mist to spray over it.  This isn't really a new or different technique, but it's one that I've used several times before and I love the end results.

So for my layout I used the You Make My Heart Smile cut file.  This file actually comes with several different phrases and I cut 3 of them out, though I only used 2 for my page, but I just tucked the other one aside for another time!  I used a spare piece of cardstock that I had laying around, since I wasn't worried about keeping the file after I had sprayed it, though you could cut if from white cardstock and then keep the altered file for another project, kind of a two for one deal!

Since my spray title took up one side of my layout I used a bunch of patterned paper strips to fill the other side.  I dug into my stash and scraps and used up some older papers that I had been wanting to use for a while.  This was a great way to really use up lots of papers that are just laying around. I didn't need much in the way of embellishments since the title and papers were already so bold!

Thank you so much for stopping by and taking a look, and don't forget to check out the shop for lots of amazing designs!

Meet our April Guest Designer + FREEBIE time! April 14, 2017 07:00

Meet our April Guest Designer - Annelie Maddock!

We asked Annelie to create a few projects with whichever of our cut files she was inspired to use and look what she sent us!

Here is what Annelie had to say about her project:

On this page I used the "Sprinkle Background". I made it a bit smaller, then used it as a mask with texture paste. It's something I do often, I just LOVE the dimension it gives on the page.

For my title I used the word "together" from the "You Make My Heart Smile" cutfile. Adore that font so much! I cut it out on white cardstock, then used mist to make it fit in with the many colours on this page!

Annelie also sent us this fun summery page!

I am totally addicted to background files! For this LO I used the "Little Black Dots" background, but as you can see on MY page it became a rainbow background!

Then, because it's a summery LO I used the sun & clouds from the "Sunny Days" file. To make them stand out on my page I did some faux stitching.

You make my heart smile August 30, 2016 07:00

Hi cut file fans - Laureen here with you today to share a new layout at the end of the month!

I was assigned to use any of the August cut files - which was easy, because I absolutely loved all the new files that Nicole made for August!

They are just awesome right?! Keep an eye out for September, because they are going to be just as good!

I already used quite a few of the new files for projects for a different Design Team - massive love for all the floral ones. Therefore I didn't want to use them again and decided to go with two other beautiful designs!

I love to use cut files as a big background element and either back backgrounds with patterned paper or use the cut file to cut out my patterned paper.

That is what I did for this layout - I used a Dear Lizzy Paper and cut the Compressed Chevron Background.

For me personally, it was missing something just regularly adhered to the page, so I took my beloved sewing machine and sewed the entire design down. Took some time, because my machine didn't want to stitch the way I wanted it to, but I managed to make it work.

Now for my title I absolutely love the new "You make my heart smile" cut file with great phrases in it. The title matched the picture of my sister and her boyfriend from her graduation perfectly.

Here are some close-ups for you.

Okay that is it for todays post -

I really hope you enjoyed it and I will catch you guys next time!
